Excellent service from the manager and host Zachariah, who educated me about the area, gracefully handled my needs prior to checking in and also has a fantastic personality anyone can resonate with. The room was clean, huge, and very accommodating for my luxurious stay at Gables. Give it a week, you won't regret it.

We stayed one night here on our way back to San Francisco. The location of the hotel is great. The condition of the hotel, not so much. The outdoor patio looked like it hadn't been swept in quite a while. And it should be stated this is a shared space where enough walk to a door in your room through a space where you also share a coffee pot(huh?) To get to the ice machine you must walk to the main entrance, go down stairs and it is located through a door in a storage closet. The room was okay and it appears bathrooms were updated a few years ago. Happy we weren't staying any longer.

My husband and I had a wonderful, memorable stay at the Gables Inn. We were there for the first night of our honeymoon in November and the staff went the extra mile to make our stay special. We arrived in San Francisco in the morning and they were able to check us in early, which was greatly appreciated. They made us feel so welcomed and safe and offered a lot of recommendations when we asked. The room we stayed in was very clean which is also important to note. They were very accommodating and held our bags when we checked out. Because of this, we were able to stick around the neighborhood for longer and have a delicious lunch and cocktails before our next flight. You truly can't beat the location at the Gables Inn. Everything is so walkable and it's the perfect place for a weekend getaway.

The hotel is in a good location for walking around town. There is construction out front and no parking. We were given a pass for the public lot a couple blocks away. There is no one onsite to help resolve issues. You coordinate check-in and then haul your luggage up the stairs. No elevator. We were in room 304. We had trouble getting back into our building after dinner. Neither key card worked. No one answered the phone. We finally got in and the issue was the doorframe was cracked and stuck. There was no breakfast or services, likely Covid. The room was in the top 3 of the worst places I've stayed. It's literally falling apart. Everything seemed dirty. See captions on photos. I can't believe this was $333 per night. There was another room on the 3rd floor that we were told was as bad as ours. I can't see how anyone could give more than a star. Basically we paid more to get a second bed which wasn't usable. Questionable wiring with the lighting coming on and off randomly, the fridge cabinet was so hot I was worried about an electrical fire, the window latches were broken and wouldn't latch (hello bugs), no AC, no screens, the curtains/blinds were stained and torn, the tv did not work, the couch smelled, it's almost comical. I definitely can't recommend.

We come to Sausalito at least once a year and always stay at the Inn Above Tide. It's located on the waterfront and each room has the perfect view of the ocean, looking out towards the city of San Francisco and the San Francisco Bay Bridge. All the rooms have their own private deck where you can relax with a glass of wine or champagne and take in the beautiful views of the city of San Francisco. All the shops and restaurants on Bridgeway St. are within walking distance of the Inn. It is also right next to the Ferry where you can purchase tickets for a ride into San Francisco. When you arrive, you are greeted at the gate of their private parking lot, where your car is safely stored during your stay. Check-in is always easy and all the staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. They offer a Continental breakfast that is served buffet-style in their Drawing Room or you can have your breakfast delivered to your room for a $5 fee. Every evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. they have wine, cheeses, crackers, and fresh fruit for all guests in their Drawing Room. You can also arrange to have this delivered to your room as well. When we arrived to our suite, they had a lovely anniversary surprise waiting for us inside. They had a silver tray on our table, with a white rose, a bottle of champagne, a box of Napa Valley chocolates, and a lovely card to welcome us. When we booked our stay, for this trip, we chose the City Lights Suite. The inside of the suite is beautiful, luxurious, immaculate, and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable. I have an allergy to feathers. They made sure our pillows and bedding did not contain any down feathers. They had fresh, gorgeous orchids in the main part of the suite as well as the en suite bathroom. If you want to watch a movie, they have a huge catalog of DVDs, you can pick from, to watch in your room. They really go above and beyond to make your stay an unforgettable experience. That's why we always come back. I want to especially thank all the staff for making us feel welcome and making our stay extra special.

Walking in I was so confused how it looks so modern for such an old building but very well taken care of. They let us extend checkout time no prob and we were left a bottle of wine and birthday card per my request to do something special for my husbands birthday. The parking is a bit of a trek, down a steep hill on the hillsides and then you get your steps in going up all the stairs! But it's stunning and if money were no object. The view from our suite was beautiful, but that was the only part of our stay that felt worthy of the "best room" category. Service throughout the entire town was disappointing, and the hotel was no exception. Staff consistently seemed irritated by even simple requests and frequently hung up on us when we called the front desk. There is no microwave, no room service, and our suite required climbing roughly 70 steps each time we went up or down. Valet drivers operated recklessly, and retrieving our luggage required multiple calls before we finally asked for our keys and handled it ourselves. When they brought our car around, my partner was so concerned by the way they drove it that she photographed her rims. Dining in town was equally frustrating. Servers rushed us, were not attentive, and didn't offer dessert -- we had to ask several times. We're the type of people who enjoy long, relaxed meals with multiple courses, drinks, and dessert, but everything felt hurried and dismissive. DoorDash drivers didn't want to deliver to the hotel, and when they did, the food arrived cold. Overall, the amenities were lacking, the service was rude, and the entire experience made us feel like an inconvenience. For the price of one of the top suites, we expected at least decent hospitality. This is not a place we would return to, nor did it offer the relaxing experience we were hoping for. Ally & Penny

Before you make a reservation you need to ask yourself "am I looking for a place to sleep and shower right by the beautiful bay or am I looking for a luxurious hotel experience?" if it's the latter then this hotel is definitely not for you. I originally booked this hotel for two nights but ended up departing after one night due to the noise level of other guests. I don't think they were particularly loud however due to how the rooms are designed (they are designed more like a hostel, the rooms are literally so close to one another because they tried to fit in as many rooms as they possibly could in such an enclosed space) It was impossible to get a good night's rest. As someone who is very sleep sensitive it's imperative that I get my good hours of sleep in to properly function throughout the day. Robin who works in the front however is very warm and welcoming and will take the time to properly explain how to best utilize your room and the location of the hotel. She will also let you know the best place to park so that you do not end up getting a ticket, the hotel gets a pass from the city to park there for a fee, the fee depends on how busy It is. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and always smiling. They also offered complimentary unlimited water, coffee, and tea, which was a nice touch. The complimentary breakfast was okay, but I wish there had been more variety and additional options to choose from. It was a nice perk, but expanding the selection would make it even better. The only downside is that the hotel itself feels a bit outdated. I think it has so much potential if the property were renovated, including the hallways, bathrooms, and guest rooms. With some updates, it could easily become an outstanding hotel. Overall, I had a pleasant stay. While I don't think the property itself is quite at a 4- or 5-star level yet, the exceptional customer service certainly deserves 5 stars. The staff truly made the experience memorable. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. The location and outstanding staff make it worth coming back. That said, I would love to see the hotel add a small lobby gift shop with snacks, drinks, and travel essentials to make the experience even more convenient for guests. The property has so much potential to truly stand out with some thoughtful updates and renovations. I would honestly love to renovate the entire place because I can see how beautiful it could become. The complimentary cheese and wine hour was a wonderful touch and something I really enjoyed and others as well. As for the cookies, they were good but cheap, but I think it would be even more memorable if the hotel partnered with a local Marin County bakery to offer fresh, locally made cookies or pastries. Supporting a local business would give guests a true taste of the area while creating a unique experience they'll remember. Those little details are what make a hotel stand out, and guests are more likely to remember both the delicious treats and the hotel that introduced them to them.

The outside of the hotel raised my eyebrows, but once I got into the room, I was shocked at how clean it was. Not a single stain, hair, or grubby fingerprint was in sight. This is literally how I want every room in every hotel to be. The staff were friendly at check-in. The hotel offers breakfast, coffee, and a small fridge with beverages (beer) and frozen meals. Note: the local town seems to shut down at 9:00 p.m. every night, which is good for quietness but bad if you want a late-night bite. Cons: the building didn't seem well secured. It felt like anyone from the streets could access the outdoor stairs to guests' rooms. Definitely double-bolt your door and don't open it to strangers here. That being said the town itself seems very safe and well policed. The shower lacked water pressure, and the pillow / bed wasn't the most comfortable, tbh. I'd recommend this hotel if you need to stay in Tiburon for a couple of nights (cleanliness is my most heavily weighted hotel criterion, personally). It's not luxury, but it's clean and much more affordable than other spots in the immediate area. I will say though, for maybe a net 50-100 more per night, I stayed at the St. Regis SF (Forbes 5-star), so if you have the ability to stay in the city, you may get more bang for the buck.
