We have just returned from a three night stay at the Inn at Opolo. After only one night we booked a reservation to return at the end of August. This intimate Inn is incredible. The setting is beautiful and quiet. The accommodations are very clean and comfortable. Guests are pampered on a level comparable to any 5 star resort. Included with your stay is made to order breakfast, including mimosa or simply delicious orange juice. Breakfast fare includes eggs Benedict, pancakes, omelets, quiche, steel cut oats, fresh fruit cup, a variety of coffees and teas. Guests have constant access to bottled water, soft drinks, and sparkling water. Upon arrival guests are provided a bottle of wine and chocolate chip cookies. Each evening guests are provided a bottle of wine to accompany a charcuterie plate. Chocolate is provided in each of the three suites. The rooms are very comfortable and well maintained. Each suite has access to a huge deck for sunning or just relaxing. Hike up the hills through the vineyard for your morning exercise. Although the comfort of the suites, the quality of the food and wine, and the sheer beauty of the location are all incredible, what sets this Inn apart from others is the unparalleled level of service provided by the staff, who provide for your every need.

LOVE THIS PLACE! The rooms are large and cozy, with a tub and a lovely balcony. You get a bottle of wine and cookies I n your room when you check in and each evening you get a bottle of wine and an appetizer tray. Every morning you get a delicious breakfast made fresh from a bunch of options. The grounds or gorgeous and there's a lovely garden to stroll in in addition the the vineyards.

First off, I'd label this a couples only retreat. Nice room, name Rhapsody. Brand new basically, 1 of 3 rooms at the vineyard. Jacuzzi tub, access to porch/shared balcony. Got to ride on golf carts up to top of hill, overlook the whole vineyard. I have to say this is way better than a hotel is Paso Robles could ever be (not that I really know that, but ). Laurin is the host and made sure, and I mean SURE, that we were taken care of. Breakfast menu in the morning, carne asada at lunch, wine and cheese on a tray waiting for us when we return. She and the staff stayed till 10pm cooking, cleaning, hanging out, made sure everyone enjoyed themselves. Always a bottle waiting for us when we got back from a day journeys, it was top notch. I felt like a celebrity without the paparazzi. Day One: The bottle check; cheeze plate check; golf carts are fully charged and capable of almost running down any of the wild turkeys cruising around on the property. There were no turkey sighting, but my tracker skills lead to turkey tracks and fresh dung, it felt less than an hour old. I scanned the valley but no sign of the elusive 2 legged beasts. At and drank on the picnic table overlooking the whole vineyard, very picture-esk. That night we really got to know ours neighbors, which is good for us, since me and the ol lady totally lack social skills. There are a total of 3 units. 3 couples. Freaking *** (another patron) from P-Town was stinkin drunk, rented a limo and and his lady just demos all of Paso Robles. He gets back to the B&B and wants to roll the golf carts. Laurin don't know what to do, she doesn't want to say no and bum him out, but doesn't want to say yes either and rishk an incedent. He eventaully gets his way and his girl drives them both up to the top. Apparently on the way, they stopped to look at something and some how he ends up running over his lady with the g-cart on the way up to the picnic tables a top the Vineyard. She was ok, but went to bed earlier than everyone else that night. I now remember that I heard them coming up, but then they took like 30 minutes to get to the top, so it make sense that they had some sort of "incedent". Since we had arrived on Saturday we missed him the previous night, sleep walking and checkin out everyones place at night. We made sure to lock the place up tight when we got in. The place is pretty secure. That night while eating our dinner, one of the staff kids was begging us to allow him to drive us up to the top of the hill with him to see the stars. It is a great vew since you are so far from the city lights (highly recommend). We didn't do it just cause we didn't want him driving us up there and either 1) hanging out with us the entire time, or 2) forgetting us up on the hill if he was to take off in the golf cart. But that doesn't stop me from recommending it to others with more guts. There is a Bochy ball court, rope swings, vines to taste. Day 2 sampled the nice shower robes. Breakfast was quiche and omletes this morning. Note, bring asperin, wine tends to leave you with a headache. There are Carnitas Tacos and beans down at the tasting area. This day we went to Hearst Castle, one of those things that if you are a Californian, you must do once in your life. About an hour away. Got back and Laurin made us a cheeze and cracker plate again and gave us a bottle and 2 glasses, and we went to the golf carts. It was a blast. Walked through the vineyard testing the pinot grapes. Enjoyed our little escape from reality with the Vino and sunset. Vineyards around the area: Castoro: 3 compl, 7 sips for 3 dollars. They didnt even charge us. We did buy some olive oil which some dude was peddlin when we walked up. Linne Calodo: I liked the wine, but 10$ taste fee and they didnt waive the fee or tax. They had to pay for their brand new tasting room I guess. It is pretty good stuff. A bit different than I was used to (that is about as in depth about wine as I go). Denner: Nice, neat architecture, 10$ tasting for 5 sips. It was ok, nothing that stuck out like the linne codolo. Opolo: Mountain Zin is pretty pretty pretty good, as Larry David would say. Try and get there around noon and sample the BBQ, it was really goood.

It was my husbands birthday and they snuck in an surprised us with a bottle of Opolo champagne.

August 5-6 2013 Our first yet NOT last stay at The Inn at Opolo. WOW!! We fell in love with the Mountain Zinfandel in 09, as a happy accident at The Salt Creek Grill in Valencia CA. In search of this wine online, we discovered The Inn and Vineyards up in Paso Robles. We've been wanting to get there for years, and finally made it happen. This was my hubby's birth week, so I wanted it to be special. We booked a Wine Tour the 1st day, so we could relax & enjoy the Inn completely day 2. I requested an early check in, as our wine tour pick up was @ 10:30. They had no problem with an early arrival. We arrived at 9 am. Rafael was very helpful. He gave us our room key & gate clicker, in case we got back after 5pm. He showed us around the premises & use of the kitchen facility. He showed where to order our breakfast. Basically we could order whatever we want or everything we wanted. Fresh blueberry pancakes are delicious as well as the eggs benedict with fresh spinach and sautéed mushrooms. It's basically like ordering room service, the night before and you tell them when and where you want to eat. Each morning they set our table for two with fresh flowers at a window table, overlooking the patio deck, gardens & tree with swings. They delivered FRESH baked large chocolate chip cookies to the room. In our room we found our favorite bottle of Mountain zin with 2 wine glasses, wine opener and fresh flowers. Fluffy pillows and the BED is extremely comfortable. We slept GREAT. Also, iphone charger station in room. The rooms are exactly what you see in the photos on the web side. No bait and switch here. In the kitchen was a large basket of fresh fruit, crackers, evening bottle of wine. The refrigerator was stocked with a variety of sodas, bottled water, bottles of sparkling Pellegrino, and flavored creamer. They also have a COFFEE MAKER Machine. It has 8 options: black, coffee lite, decaf, cappuccino, chai tea, hot chocolate, espresso, café mocha,. What's really nice,it's a simple push of a button, the coffee beans are ground fresh, & beverage isn't extremely hot, so you can start drinking right away. Probably one of my favorite amenities there, next to Mt. Zin. After a day of wine tasting, we got back to our room. Upon my request, I had asked Rafael if they could sneak into our room, and place a surprise birthday gift on the bed. It was hidden in my suit case. They delivered, and surprised us with a bottle of Opolo champagne. How very sweet. We popped the champagne, while he opened his gift. We took a walk to the kitchen to see what food we had waiting in the fridge. There was a large plate of seared ahi tuna, on a bed of kale, with dipping soy, fresh grapes, a variety of berries, cheeses, olives and crackers. After some swing time out front, we grabbed our dinner, the bottle of wine, glasses and jumped on a golf cart. We drove to the top of the vineyards. On the way spotted a group of deer on the walnut orchard side of the fence. The food was delicious and hit the spot for a long day of wine tasting. We took a lot of pictures of the sunset. Very romantic, and private place to just sit and soak in the scenery. It got a little chilly so it was time to head back to the room. Apparently, I rinsed off the plate and put it in the dishwasher (wine makes you forget), then grabbed a café mocha to warm up and we headed to bed. We stayed in the Mourvedre Room. I woke up in the middle of the night and was hot, so I opened the entry door and the French doors to get a cross breeze. OMG it was FABULOUS. They have AC, it was working just fine, but I chose the FRESH cool night air. I could hear a lot of the wild life, owls hooting & coyotes howling. I felt safe, even with wide open doors. That night it just felt like it was us and nature, although there was another couple in the room next door. They were very quiet. Our room also has a window with a screen. Second morning, like the 1st, in the kitchen waiting was our table set up with 1st class place settings. Fresh orange juice and mimosa (if you wish). The portions are large, so if you want to try them all, I suggest sharing plates, or simply asking them to make the portions smaller so you don't waste good food. We weren't sure how they knew when to service your room. There was no (do not disturb) cards to place on the door knobs. It's such a small B&B I guess they just KNOW, when you leave the property. We came back after having lunch in town, and the room was clean, beds made and towels replaced. You get free wine tasting as a guests at the Inn. However it's only $5 to taste, and it's waived if you buy. I can't imagine NOT buying. Their wines are the BEST. We started at Opolo and went to 7 others tasting rooms and it was all down hill from there. We got the VIP tour from Zach. Annie, Emily & Roger were all VERY helpful and informed in the tasting room. We got to meet the owner Rick Quinn and his son. Very nice people. You can't go wrong with Opolo anything.

One of the best B&B you will ever find. They have taken care of every detail. From afternoon hors d'ouvres to gourmet breakfast. From a romantic fireplace to wine and chocolates on our nightstand. From hiking trails through the vineyard to the bocci ball court. Lounge on the deck and enjoy the sunset. We were even surprised with a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. A stay at the Inn is a must do spoil yourselves.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Carriage House - everything that we could possibly need was provided - your usual careful attention to have everything there, including decaf coffee and sweetener, as well as the very welcome cake, the vases of flowers and other details were much appreciated, and the bottle of wine was really excellent.  And everything everywhere was notably clean - kudos to the cleaning crew!

Amy made us some delicious Vegan chilaquiles for our first morning and Avocado toast on our second. Both breakfasts are making me hungry as I write this. I am going to try my best to write a balanced review, because #1 we love Justin Wines and are…read moremembers of the Wine Society, and #2 overall we had a good stay and staff were friendly. If there were a 3.5 stars, I'd do that. We were in the Isosceles Suite, which is lovely. You are greeted with a bottle of wine which is also lovely. In addition, you supposedly get a free tasting at your meal (more on that later). FYI - each special thing that you receive is a one-time only - regardless of how many nights you stay. That includes the cheese plate, which we devoured on Sunday night because the restaurant was not open. Since we were also there the next night with no restauant, it would have been thoughtful and appropriate for the Inn to supply a cheese plate again. The woman who took care of our room was very helpful and pleasant. The bedroom was comfortable and the beds were good. The bathroom was spacious, but the large and oddly shaped tub was just plain awkward and a bit dangerous. The shower was such that you had to stand in a very narrow spot (I wish I had taken a photo of this) and the soap and shampoo and conditioner were all in very heavy ceramic jars with wide mouth lids. If you dropped one of those on your feet? Trust me, I made sure I didn't. Also, the water got into the jars despite trying to avoid that (sorry for nitpicking here but a room that goes for $720 a night should be perfect). Few outlets near the bed, although they are sprinkled around the room and very poor wifi. Breakfast. You had better not be fussy. The chef makes some wonderful dishes for breakfast, but there are no options, not even a side of toast. For example, I had a delicious chorizo omelet, but it was on top of avocado toast, which I dislike. The side of fruit and yogurt was the only option. The first morning we had a very tasty small quiche along with the fruit and yogurt and OJ. Again, no toast, bread, etc. By the second day we knew enough to bring back some baked goods from town. That shouldn't be necessary. I know others have criticized the kitchen but we didn't use it except for coffee. If you stay on any of the 4 nights that the restaurant is not open, be certain that you bring food from town or are prepared for a very dark and windy road back to the Inn - if you go out to a restaurant. On Sunday, we ordered extra food from lunch, only to discover that what we ordered (the flatbread) was so greasy we threw it out and we ended up devouring the cheese plate which was pretty small for 3 people. We happened to visit when the area was having major rain storms. Our bad. When we left in pouring rain it seemed fine, however returning (thankfully before dark) we found a tree that had fallen and was blocking the road that led to the Inn. No cell service, no wifi - the navigation system thus not helpful - and only because I remembered seeing some small roads on a map did we (with luck and no further fallen trees) get back to the Inn coming from the other direction. The staff told us the next day that they were shocked we had gone out in the morning, but no one thought to call to see if we got back at night. No one was staffing the Inn. Regarding the "free" tasting that you get at the restaurant. It is free if you do the non-reserve tasting. If you choose the reserve tasting, and I would guess that most Wine Society members would indeed do that, then you are charged the full $80 per person. If the $40 tasting is free, then shouldn't the $80 tasting be $40???? It not only makes no sense, it is a bit insulting. Based on the excellent wines we'vepurchased from Justin over many, many years, I would have expected to leave a 5 star review plain and simple. I will admit that all three of us were a bit disappointed. Small things can make a real difference. Love the wines (most), but the Inn, not so much.

Their status as an NPO and commitment to enriching the lives of others deeply resonates for me, and I encourage you to learn more about their programs when you meet with Maria. Selfless dedication to others is a rare gift and must always be treasured. They have lodging for up to 50 people in two homes. This is an important feature in our perfect venue as we are trying to achieve a more relaxed, "family reunion" type atmosphere at our nuptials. The homes are modestly appointed, but spacious and clean. The main home has a massive kitchen, large deck, and pool area with plenty of space to hang out and enjoy their property. Finally, let's talk about the actual "wedding" facilities and price! They have a sprawling private estate with tons of potential for the creative and adventurous bride, but they have an established ceremony area under a massive oak serving as an altar with a terraced seating area for guests. It offers a few different processional/entrance choices and is right next to the barn area for the reception. The barn has plumbed bathrooms, but with a high guest count, some rentals would be appropriate. There is also parking nearby. Having all the spaces to be used in one close area is nice for guest comfort so people aren't hiking all around just to get from ceremony to cocktails to dinner (especially the older folks). At Dancing Deer- YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF YOUR WEDDING! (within reason). You get to pick all your preferred vendors for everything!! Food, drink, booze of your choosing, rentals, decor, activities-EVERYTHING! This is important to the budget conscious and picky bride alike!! And while we're on the topic, Dancing Deer is able to offer remarkably competitive prices for their whole weekend rental- less than many "one day" venues (usually a 5-8 hour facilities rental). I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're wanting a true getaway feel with plenty of time to relax and enjoy your family and friends beyond the wedding event!

Dancing Deer Farm is a very beautiful, tranquil, quite and relaxing place just 3 miles off the 101 highway that is perfect for what they do here. They have facilities for small groups or large, extended families and have many options to choose from. It was pretty awesome to wake up in the morning, look out the window and see a few deer or some peacocks wondering on the rolling hills and around the trees. As for the surrounding areas, they are 30 minutes for less from San Luis Obisbo, Pismo Beach, Paso Robles, Hearst Castle, Cambria, Morro Bay, etc.
