This conveniently located, cute and quaint B&B made our first stay in Cambria very comfortable. The inn is conveniently located in the middle of Cambria with walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The innkeeper and staff were friendly, hospitable and provided wonderful and personal insights to local attractions. Breakfast was modest, rustic but was sufficient to start the day, I was happy fresh fruit and yogurt were provided instead of just granola. We also enjoyed resting in the common areas and the balcony outside our room after a long day. I will definitely recommend Squibb Houses to anyone who wants to experience staying in a historical part of Coastal California. And thanks Lenn for your recommendations, we went to most of the places you recommended since we didn't really have an itinerary this trip. Appreciate all your help and historical context of Cambria.

This was our second time staying at the Squibb Houses. We stayed in the Black Barn, Maple Room. My husband and I absolutely loved it! It's a cozy, welcoming, beautiful BnB in charming Cambria. It's in the middle of the downtown so you can walk to everything. The garden surrounding it is gorgeous and ethereal. Tiffany, the hostess, is a gem! She is warm, friendly, and helpful. Also a great cook! The breakfast spread is delectable. In the evening, there are cookies and tea available in the lobby area with a warm fireplace and big windows to view the beautiful garden through. We HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking for a charming and memorable getaway that is relaxing and rejuvenating.

The bed was a little soft, the windows need blackout curtains, and an air conditioner or ceiling fan, but the space was immaculate and welcoming. The Bed and Breakfast host meets and greets each person in a super friendly manner. The welcome snacks and breakfasts were excellent.

If you value authentic experiences in historic places the Squibb house must be on your list when you are in mid coast california. The ambiance is quiet and the rooms tasteful and decorated with historic photos or early days. The in town location means you can walk everywhere. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely loved staying here! Check in and out was swift as it's just self service. I stayed here for my 4 year anniversary in the Parlor Room and enjoyed every minute of it. The garden out front was lovely and any staff we approached were friendly. They have lots of options for breakfast and will leave afternoon treats! Water is available in the kitchenette at all times too. I also enjoyed the amish furniture (sold next door). Remember to bring earplugs too as the walls are thin and you can hear every creek and passerby. Looking to stay here again in the future!

My wife and i are really enjoying ourselves at the Black Barn, a newly appointed Bed and Breakfast house next to the Squibb House which is owned and operated by the same owner. The Squibb Houses have the Squibb House, the Black Barn, and an Amish Shop adjacent to one another. So clean, peaceful, and simple. We had a wonderful time here!! The breakfast and coffee was so good and Bruce, the owner, joined us and the other guests too for breakfast each morning. The wood that you find all around the barn from the ceiling to the floor is from the owner's great grandfather's barn built in the 1870's in Pennsylvania. It is quite stunning to think of the history and the labor involved to accomplish this feat. And, if that's not enough, the long table in the Black Barn where we stayed is a gorgeous, repurposed carpenter's work bench from this actual property also from the late 1800's! When you stay here, you will find yourself in a peaceful, unique, and clean atmosphere with a friendly and attentive owner and staff. Even the furniture is made by Amish craftsman and you can buy what you see in the shop next door. If I could give extra stars, I would!

We stopped in last year and our friends wanted to check it out also. My friend just loved the hand made rocking chairs especially one that just stood out. I can't recall the name of the hardwood, but these bent hardwood Amish rocking chairs are just beautiful. The craftsmanship is incredible and well worth the price for a swivel chair for $595.00. Bruce the owner took us next door to the B&B and gave us a tour of the old B&B built in 1877 and the newer B&B which is adjacent. He told us the history of his great grandfathers barn in PA which he had deconstructed and had the wood milled and trucked out here to use in the newer B&B. We will be back to spend the night here.

LOVE the Aesop products in the room!!! a few downside during my stay were: the few times i went to the front desk, the "out of office" sign was up each time. i wanted to rent a bike to bike around the town, no one was around to assist. i waited about 10-15m each time. they have a fire pit that was on the entire time. i heard they provide s'more kits, but we were not provided with any. there isnt really any pet relief area on site. also, all units do not have AC, only fans. i had no service while i was there. i literally was on SOS. i actually loved it. don't worry, there is wifi avail! i would def book white water again!

I was really…read moreplanning on giving this place a 5 star review but after the awful experience here on our last day, I decided to take 2 stars off. Let me start with the positives. Before our arrival we were given a code to enter the living space and our room, so it was very convenient to have such an easy check-in with no hassle. Plus was a warm welcome from Nana, the Inn's pet cat. She was really cute and friendly. The room itself was cozy and patios enough for the two of us. The room was spotless clean and loved how spacious the bathroom was, and how comfortable the bed was as well. As far as the complimentary breakfast we received. It was okay. It was a quiche, yogurt with fruit, a muffin, sausages, and orange juice, on both days. It was left by our door around 9 am the two days we were there. Now, for the negatives. Parking spaces are limited and each room doesn't have a guaranteed parking spot. They have misleading information on their website. If you come back after 8 pm, forget about finding parking there. You will need to park in Cambria Inn, their sister property, and walk up a very dark and dangerous road back up to the Inn, which is unsafe! When I let their Inn know about this parking situation, the night before, I couldn't reach anyone after 8 pm, so I was told to call Cambria Inn. The person who picked up was extremely rude, and told me to park anywhere there was parking, after I explained there were no spots available. Finally we ended up parking at the Cambria Inn. The next day, I let the J. Patrick house know about this parking situation and someone over text got super defensive and was trying to send me screenshots of there being parking, when clearly there was none when we arrived, and kept arguing with me about it, which left a really bad taste in my mouth, and in stress I ended up leaving my super expensive jacket, which I still haven't heard about from the Inn. It's unfortunate that this situation happened because I was really hoping that we would have a better ending to a special weekend! I will not be coming back here again!

Really enjoyed the complimentary wine with ocean view and one of my biggest reasons for booking it was due to they accept dogs, which says a lot about an establishment. That being said, there are areas for improvement. When I checked into my room, I noticed that the the dark blinds were stuck so I went to the office to see if they could help. The manager came to my room; tried to lower them and agreed they were stuck. She said she would ask the maintenance person to fix it. A day went by and nobody came by. I was awoken to a bright room early in the morning so my sleep was cut short. I went back the office and the same manager welcomed me with "yeah, what's up"? I highlighted that nobody came by to fix it and she seemed pretty indifferent but said she would request it again. Needless to say, nobody showed up to fix it during my whole stay so I was greeted with shortened sleep thanks to the bright room in the mornings. While I was checking out, I highlighted this to the new manager and she laughed it off, saying that's why she brings blindfolds when she travels. No discount offer or anything. Furthermore, their door key cards are the most sensitive I have ever encountered. I had to have them reprogrammed 3 times during my stay. Also, the owner apparently requested that they close the wine tasting early due to rain so, when I showed up to use my complimentary wine vouchers, I found it closed over an hour earlier than their posted closing time but the server did provide me with the complimentary wine since I was a guest but they were no longer offering food so no marinated olives and nuts to go with it. That being said, the Inn does have a great location; is a value and I love that it is dog-friendly but they do need to work on their customer service. Oh and some more Vegan options and recycling/compost bins would certainly help.

A call to the night manager Friday night did nothing to stop it. But at the same time, it's not as if they were partying or shouting. They were simply walking around, and I was unlucky enough to be in the room below them in a place that clearly wasn't built to be a hotel. I've stayed in countless hotels with people above me, and this is the first time in my life that I've paid them any mind or had the urge to report a noise complaint. Which again...they were just walking, which they technically have a right to do, despite how annoying it was to me at the time. The room was a bit overpriced to begin with, so this only made me regret that much more. Two stars instead of one since the property was still nice with a prime location. We enjoyed our stay and all the front desk employees were extremely polite, helpful and accommodating. The room was very clean. The fireplace is easy to use and extremely effective. However, I would like to make a few suggestions on how to improve the experience of staying at Moonstone Landing for all your guests: First, please provide your guests with 3-ply, SOFT toilet paper. The cheap, one-ply toilet paper this hotel uses was horrible to use. If you're asking guests to pay premium prices for these rooms then at least provide them with decent toilet paper. Second, please consider investing in NEW, comfortable outdoor patio chairs with accompanying foot rests. The chairs you have now feel cheap and uncomfortable. Third, I would jazz up the "average" continental breakfast. It's the one thing hungry guests look forward to every morning and the pastries provided leave one underwhelmed and still hungry. Linn's cheese danish pastries are delicious but the other two muffins were "meh". The boiled eggs are fine. I think adding a variety of cereals would be appreciated. Maybe provide granola bars? Fourth, I know renovations are costly. But at some point you'll have to redo the stone flooring in all the bathrooms as the long cracks in the stone initially make a bad impression. Again, we enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this hotel. As a long-time patron, I'm offering my insights in the hopes you'll make the necessary changes to stay competitive and continue to draw in new guests.
