Such a beautiful, peaceful place. We stayed for a weekend in the Creekside Suite. The garden is landscaped with flowering plants so there were butterflies to watch as you relaxed in one of the many chairs. The breakfast room is off the porch and very pleasant with plenty of light. The food itself was delicious with a quiche one day and French toast and eggs the next. Every day there was yogurt and homemade granola. The inn is in a historic building and is on the east edge of town, easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Angie and Anna were kind and accommodating, always asking if we needed anything. If you are going to Cambria itself or up to Hearst Castle or wherever in the area, I highly recommend the Olallieberry Inn. read more

Historic property located in a quiet location steps from the town hub. There are 2 bldgs. The main house has bedrooms, a music room and the breakfast room. Bldg 2 has a separate entrance and 3 guest rooms. Good size refrigerators with working freezers are tucked away between rooms for guest convenience. No air conditioning, not needed. There is an English garden type courtyard in the back with cool breezes rustling the leaves in the trees. It is so quiet in the evening, you can hear a pin drop. Soul soothing. We stayed in The Sunrise Room in Bldg 2. The bed was very comfortable and linens are soft perfection. Everything in the room functioned perfectly. Between the bed, sheets, quiet, and gentle cross breezes coming through the windows, sleep was deep and restful. Breakfast each morning was excellent. Wine, hors d'oeuvres, and cookies are served in the evening from 4-5. Alanna, the owner, and her staff have created a warm welcoming guest experience. Love this place, so cozy and a beautiful location. Mary is super kind and welcomes you with sincereness, all employees were nice. We liked our rooms (Angel nook) and we will stay again but the rates are up from last rate of 220.00 per night to a lot more 270-330.00 or more per night; so we have to cut back on our nights to stay. Enjoy the wonderful atmosphere. This was our second time of staying in a very old home. The first time was in Santa Barbara. We love the charm, the ambience, the quiet and lush setting, and the relaxing atmosphere. Anna welcomed us with late afternoon treats, and some wine. It was so pleasant and quiet there, that we felt we had left the rest of the world behind. We met two other couples with whom we shared some wonderful conversation, during breakfast. The quiche that we had for breakfast was delicious! I believe that Anna's husband was the cook, and he did a wonderful job. The coffee kept coming! I wish that I could still be there, enjoying that back porch, patio, and the beautiful scenery. I was looking forward to hearing the stream behind, and hoping to hear some frogs. It wasn't to be this time. We knew that there wasn't any television ahead of time, so we brought our laptop, and used their Wi-Fi to stream an old movie. We cozied up together on the bed, in the beautiful warm robes they provided. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We stayed in this super cute and friendly BnB and are beyond pleased with our experience. The owner and her family are so inviting, kind and truly bend over backwards to please their guests. The rooms are so cozy and comfortable and the grounds breathtakingly beautiful and inviting with several seating areas among the flowers and greenery. The food is good, not over the top but OK. The happy hour is fun to get to know other guests while drinking local wines and simple hoursdurves. The breakfast is plenty and good in the beautiful sun room. Some guests that have stayed here in the past say it is not what it used to be but one has to realize these are new owners that do it their way and it is great! We recently celebrated my wife's 75th birthday at this lovely B&B in Cambria. From the moment we entered the property we knew this was the right place for us. Anna and her daughter Mary made us feel very welcome. The rest of the staff were friendly as they provided great service. Breakfasts were delicious and afternoon snacks were fresh and tasty. Great restaurants are within a short walk and Moonstone Beach and The Fiscalini Reserve are a short drive away. This review is long overdue! My girlfriend and I stayed here for a few days recently on a whim and it was the best decision ever! Anna and her crew were so inviting and warm, and the entire experience was top-notch! We loved staying in this little piece of history- the rooms and vibe of the place were adorable. If you are into vintage accommodations and atmosphere, this is the place for you. If you are into contemporary hotels and privacy, this will not be for you. The place was very clean, but it's an older home so the floors creak and all that jazz- part of its charm! Also, the eating is all in close quarters with the other patrons. We loved it because we got to chat with people from all over the place. If you are private and don't like a communal-style stay- again, this is not for you. B&B's are such a gem and I'm so grateful we got to experience this slice of heaven! I actually feel bad writing this review as the new owners were quite lovely and staff very friendly. Sadly, with the changes, we will not be returning any time soon. while the cookies and Ollalieberry tea was lovely, the happy hour was a wine that really was undrinkable. The little prepared appetizer plate had a few rows of stale Ritz crackers, and little squares of standard cheese, stale mini-pretzels and a little cup of various olives, some black sliced olives and basic. it was odd and so stale, it was not appealing we didn't even try it the second day. Breakfast was okay. the banana pancakes were the toughest couple of pancakes that we had a hard time cutting them. the former chef was outstanding and without him the special press of the Inn is gone. Suggestions to the new owners would be: 1. Do a few special items for the appetizers. be sure the foods used are fresh. 2. ask in the village if you can get a candy store to give you a deal on a special chocolate or truffle as you will advertise their shop. Get rid of the old and unappealing mint patties. 3. Up your game for breakfast. Find a few (4) great recipes and rotate them. it really is in the details that people will keep coming back! read more

There was some mix up with our reservation dates when we first arrived and the owner Alanna was extremely accommodating in fixing the mishap, she even let us enjoy the wine and hors d'oeuvres hour we had completely shown up late for! The property was quiet and intimate, but the employees were still friendly and sociable. Crystal who we saw every morning was always ready with a cup of coffee, a smile, and good town exploring advice. "Bed and Half a Breakfast" would be an accurate way to describe it. The scone served at our recent visit was a 1.5" diameter cookie. The egg fritatas were miniature cupcake sized. The hot tea water didn't even fill the provided cups. I did not expect shrinkflation to affect B&Bs, but here we are. We've been to dozens of B&Bs and this one the worst portion sizes. The actual food quality was middling. One day they served pancakes, and those pancakes were unequivocally raw in the middle (on top of being 3" in diameter). Don't expect to be satisfied by the breakfast here. At the time of this writing, the breakfast was served to individual small tables, so don't expect facilitated conversation between guests at breakfast time. Aside from that, the rooms and grounds were pleasant. A floor is a bit creaky, but not out of the ordinary. The carpets look very worn, but clean. Some of the window blinds were broken. I think this B&B made the transition from old and quaint, to old and worn. There is no air conditioning, and this being a ocean-side location means that it can get a bit humid. One other important issue is that the nearby Santa Rosa creek is home to *very* loud frogs at night. Bring ear plugs if you're not tolerant to a croak cacophony at night. This might be season dependent, but certainly a thing during the summer. The bathroom was good, with nice hot water, but somewhat narrow bath. I don't think we met the actual innkeepers, which detracted from the magic of B&Bs. I think the overall experience was soulless, barely above a regular hotel. read more

The loudest part of town. Cambria is a cute, quaint, and quiet little town. The Olallieberry Inn was recommended to us by a local family member, so we gave it a try during a weekend getaway from SoCal. The Inn has two main pros: (1) cleanliness and (2) location. Although it looks old, it is actually quite clean, thank the heavens. It is located very well, being maybe 15 steps from the edge of downtown. Other perks include its cute setting, small size, in-room fireplaces, and comfortable beds. There is also a little lounge with instruments, games, and card tables. Unfortunately, I was not necessarily comfortable during my stay. If you took one step, neigh, shifted your weight from one foot to another, the whole house shook. There is no sneaking around this place. My husband and I were playing one of their many games in the lounge, and heard someone snoring from one of rooms. At night, I heard every cough and wheeze from our next door neighbors. Two guests arrived at 2 AM, and I didn't sleep until they were done unpacking 45 minutes later. In fact, I didn't sleep much at all. It was so loud that I was constantly being awoken, or generally on edge because of all the movement. Every time a door opened I made sure it wasn't ours, because it's hard to distinguish where the sounds are coming from. Lastly, the service was not what other reviews had mentioned. Yes it was friendly and respectful, but in an unprofessional way. They made plenty of mistakes and while they owned up and apologized for them, they seemed to think it was funny. We waited 20 minutes for our breakfast after everyone had gotten theirs because they forgot about us, then realized that they counted wrong and served my husband something else. The breakfast was simple but decent. The wine and cookies at 4 o'clock was not worth attending. It's no Ritz Carlton, but overall, a clean and decent place to stay for a little getaway if you sleep like a corpse. read more

I will start by saying that I do not rate BNB's the same as a hotel. They aren't able to offer the same amenities, and aren't supposed to. To me, a bed and breakfast is meant to feel as if I am staying at my favorite grandma's house. Memories of the best sleeps, the comfortable (and antiquated) touches of home, and love. Yes, something that is not tangible, yet you feel it when you stay in a place. With The Olallieberry Inn (gee now I will learn how to spell it correctly) is easily is the most charming B&B in Cambria when you first arrive. A tree sits outside the front entrance which dates back to 1884 and has Spanish moss growing down the branches. It takes you back, but so does the classic white wood house that is behind it. It is out of a movie. The sign is quaint and perfect for what awaits you inside. I will have to return to stay in other rooms as I think they will each have their special character. I stayed in San Simeon room and found it VERY clean, simple and with lot's of extra touches ( soft towels, memory foam pillows, nice local shampoo and lotions, Two thick robes in the wardrobe etc - areas a place will often skimp on) The decor is warm and antiquated and, as I mentioned, as I placed my clothes in the antique wardrobe, I felt like I was at grandma's house. This is a special and quaint little spot, priced fairly and with lots of love. See below for nice touches and a couple watch outs. A really nice stay. Highly recommend. We love this bed and breakfast. It's our half-way stop between the Bay Area and home in SoCal, so this is where we stay on our way home from our travels. It is so welcoming, like being in a dear friend's home for an overnight stay. And, we always meet such interesting and very nice travelers staying there as well. The guest rooms are so lovely and so comfortable. The staff are very friendly and accommodating to the needs of their guests. Every morning there is a homemade gourmet breakfast waiting for you, fresh baked cookies in the afternoon, and wine and appetizers early evening. Everything made in the kitchen. The Inn is walking distance to the town of Cambria, where there are little shops and several restaurants. The Inn's recommendation for our dinner was spot on, so delicious! My daughter and I like to escape to Cambria and San Simeon for some get-away-do-nothing time. We stayed at Olallieberry Inn for the first time. It definitely will not be our last! I think we found our new home away from home. We were greeted by Alana upon our arrival and offered a choice of lavender lemonade or Olallieberry iced tea. We were walked to our room where we found a very beautiful room decorated in the style of the historic home, but it didn't feel "old." The room was spacious and had a private bathroom. Be sure when booking-not all rooms have an en suite. Although the room had an 1800's touch, there was a bedside phone charging station and updated restroom with fantastic and welcoming shower. Morning started with delicious breakfast complete with scones, oj, coffee, and a yogurt/granola combo. The secret recipe granola is like nothing you've ever had anywhere else... trust me. Portion sizes are perfect! You will not leave hungry. Each evening there is a "garden party" that entails a choices of red or white wine, some array of fruit, cheeses, crackers, olives, and a combination of fresh veggies for dipping in their HOMEMADE hummus or artichoke dip. The highlight, however, are their homemade cookies. Whether they were peanut butter, chocolate chip, or oatmeal with a glaze drizzle, we were never disappointed. Upon check in, they are sure to ask about dietary restrictions and make accommodations for breakfast and evening wine hour. This B&B gives every attention to the details. Mints on your nightstands, fresh and beautiful garnishes on your plates, beautiful blooming gardens with ample and cozy seating, guest fridge, living area with games, books, records and a record player. Staff are so pleasant and very friendly. I asked for help heating my leftovers and was provided a beautiful try, fork wrapped in linen, and plates. I did not ask for these, but that's just the consideration they give--above and beyond. There are no televisions in the rooms. Bring activities for children for early nights in. The few games in the living area have missing items so could not be played. The only microwave is in the kitchen which is locked every night. If you plan on hearing leftovers, be sure to ask one of the staff before they leave. Stay here. You will not be disappointed. read more

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and just loved it! It was our first bed and breakfast experience so we didn't really know what to expect but the price was perfect and we liked the idea of happy hour/social hour with other guests. I found them through Yelp and at the recommendation of some friends. We stayed in the Room at the Top, which has a private, detached bathroom. The sheets and bed were extremely comfortable. We were even treated to a small bottle of champagne in our room for our anniversary! Donna and Angie were our hostesses both nights during the social/happy hour and they were very friendly and accomodating; both had great recommendations for places to see and restaurants to check out in town. We received wine and our own appetizer plates and were able to chit chat with some of the other guests on the spacious back porch. Everyone was so nice! It is a historic house so the floors are a little creaky and the walls are thinner, but we didn't have any trouble with noise from other guests. We also really enjoyed playing cards and records in the music room. You can't beat the location in town or the friendly touches at the inn itself. We would definitely stay here again! Next time we would try the Sunrise room in the carriage house to take advantage of a private patio at the recommendation of some of the other guests! read more

What can I say...this place is great....GREAT!!! I stayed here two nights over valentines weekend. Be advised that this place does not have an TV or radio. Cambria is a very charming place and this inn is towards the end of the town, but everything is within walking distance. Breakfast both mornings was so yummy! The people that run the place were very friendly. Also It was my boyfriends birthday and they surprised us with a small cake in our room on arrival. I have only good things to say. The people were lovely. They all took great care of us. We were made to feel welcome right at checking in. Heather went over any dietary restrictions we might have for breakfast, which was nice. They provided a wonderful wine hour. We sat in the beautiful garden and chatted with another couple. The breakfast was excellent. They served us fruit, yogurt, granola, a scone, and then scrambled eggs and French toast. The property is well-kept, unique, pretty and welcoming with a beautiful historic sequoia tree in the front. EXCELLENT adherence to covid-19 policies, they were actually over-the-top in making sure their guests and staff were safe. This place is in a great location with easy walking distance to all of the west-side Cambria shops and restaurants. The new owners Alanna and Aaron are very nice and hospitable, they are continuing on with all of the little extras that many have come to know at this B&B, they have even done some upgrades to the bathrooms, and other areas during the covid "downtime". Dirk and Co. are still serving up yummy breakfasts each morning and don't forget happy hour on the balcony every night, great wine and appetizers and chatting with other guests. I had to write this review as soon as I returned from my weekend in Cambria. I took my mom away for a belated birthday present and stumbled on the Olallieberry Inn by chance when looking for a place to stay. From start to finish, this was the best experience I've ever had in any place I've stayed, hands down. We were greeted with warm cookies and exceptional olallieberry iced tea or lavender lemonade when we checked in. Each night on the deck by the garden there was a different appetizer offered with wine. The breakfasts were AMAZING. Every single thing that was prepared for us was exceptional. The rooms are a perfect blend of historic and modern. There are small touches and updates everywhere - ample chargers by the bed, mints on each night stand, next to beautiful, antique lamps. Lovely smelling bath products in the bathroom. Fluffy bathrobes in the closets. Everyone took such good care of us. I asked for a microwave to heat up leftovers and in a few minutes I was presented with this (picture attached). I can't sing the praises of this perfect place enough. Wow, you've heard home away from home? From your first contact for reservations through your entire stay, you feel like family. The house is beautiful from the street, but that didn't even begin to prepare you for the suites themselves. Probably the most beautiful room we've ever stayed in. I have never seen such attention to details. A private balcony overlooking the stream that you can hear from the room. A bed that we wished we could take home. Pillows that my wife is already looking to buy. The breakfast is prepared especially for you. All homemade food. Your breakfast begins with the chef greeting you by name and delivering home made granola and fresh Olallieberry yogurt. He also brought us a warm homemade scone. The server continually kept the coffee full and hot. They both brought more than incredible food, they brought love. After the breakfast "appetizer" came the main course. We had an egg and hash brown quiche muffin and fresh blueberry pancakes with hot syrup the first day and fire roasted chipotle quiche with home fries the second day. Everything is homemade and fresh. The chef even has recipes already printed for everything they serve. The evening brings a complimentary wine and cheese hour. A chance to meet the other house guests. Definitely the place for a romantic weekend in front of a fire place. Beware...no television. You actually have time to sound with your honey in an intimate atmosphere. The worst part? We just stayed here for our anniversary and we will definitely be back soon! The inn is adorable and the owners/staff are truly one in a million- they are extremely friendly and hospitable! In the evenings, you can enjoy a glass of wine and appetizers with others staying at the inn on their beautiful deck overlooking the gardens just outside the dining area. In the mornings, they serve a delicious breakfast where you get to hang out with others as well! My favorite part though was the homemade cookies they leave out for after hours snacks. The inn is within walking distance of many restaurants and shops which is really nice as well! We were able to enjoy wine at the inn as well as at dinner, without worrying about having to drive! I wanted to take my girlfriend somewhere sweet and pretty that she would enjoy for a vacation. I got many recommendations to check out Cambria, so I decided to go there. Olallieberry Inn was one of the last places available to stay at, so I booked 2 nights there. The location seemed nice (right on Main Street) and from the pictures it looked pretty, except the room looked like a grandmas room in picture online. When we first arrived at Olallieberry the people and the place totally exceeded my expectations. The outside looks like a cozy cottage. The hostess was extremely friendly and sweet to me and my girlfriend. We were treated like honored guests at the home. The included breakfast was great too, it was like eating at my families. We socialized with other couples staying at the inn while being served orange juice, eggs, and creme brulee toast. They also have wine tasting at 5pm as well! The staff really pushed us to try it out haha, they were really so friendly. All in all the staff was really what made it for us. They are all such warm and helpful people. When we left the inn the hostess was happy to take pictures of us. Upon checking out of the hotel the hostess checked our room and saw that we forgot our pillows! She called us right away and we drove back to the hotel to grab them before leaving for home. Super sweet place well worth the money.
