I booked for my friend's bachelorette party and I am beyond thankful I found them. The original bar we went to wasn't what we expected. I was so stressed because I wanted the bride to be happy. Since Racquel and DaMante are so amazing and attentive, they checked on us and offered to take us to other spots in town. Since they had connections, we were able to go to all the best spots! At one bar, DaMante took over the entire place and became the DJ and hype man. It was like a movie. He made the place come alive and we would have had a boring night without them. Above and beyond would be an understatement. They were also so caring and patient looking after 20+ women having a good time! The vibes and service were immaculate and I will forever cherish this experience and how happy it made my friend. Everyone couldn't stop talking about how much fun they had all thanks to Racquel and DaMante. Incredible humans and business. Also, Racquel is a fantastic owner. Located just down the road from the golf course and Selma, Bailey's Place has been beautifully landscaped to hold events, wedding ceremonies, etc. I was visiting here for a wedding. It's a gorgeous setup with an arbor, that the bride and groom got married under. There was seating set up in front of the arbor for guest. Behind the arbor was a cabin, that can be used for wedding party to get ready. But also can be used for receptions or having the wedding in. I believe this was the backup if it had rained. There isn't necessarily a parking lot, but a grassy area this is designated for parking. And lots of trees for shading.

This is not just any park...here is a little history: In the early 1940's, several Troy residents began clearing the river and the banks of rubbish in hopes of using the area for water activates. They even cleared away the remains of an old wooden damn located just north of the Adams St. Bridge. Then, Edward Alvah (E. A.) and William Hobart took an interest in the park and provided the heavy equipment needed to assist in the process of clearing. That's right...E.A and William Hobart of the Hobart Brothers Corporation. The Hobart Corporation used to be based in Troy, Ohio. Yes, that's right...the ones that created and made Kitchenaid for the home and for commercial use...and they are still made today (just not here). Let us not forget the welders, generators and industrial equipment as well to name a few. They weren't always made in a foreign country. Indeed, Hobart was alive and well in Troy, Ohio and the surrounding area once upon a time. The Corporation put quite the thumbprint on Troy, this is one of them. The leaders of the Hobart Brothers Corporation wanted to provide a location for not only boating enthusiasts, but also for their employees to enjoy the Great Miami River and all activities related to water. So, they constructed a marina, a boathouse, and a launch area with a lighthouse all from the profits of the company. At one time there was a baseball diamond located here and playground equipment as well. The place boomed with boating activities, festivals and company picnics for many years. My grandparents and parents used to speak of the fun times here. In the 1960's, E.A. Hobart gave the boathouse and property to the city of Troy as a gift. Troy accepted and decided it had great recreational potential. It has been utilized in many ways over the years. It has even seen days of non-use and dilapidation as well sadly. Some of my fondest memories growing up were playing out on the island after crossing a bridge...and we always fed the ducks. I used to love to ride my bike down that steep hill coming in and lift my legs & feet off the peddles. We used to rent canoes and paddle boats below...sweet memories. But what was once old, is new again. It brings me tears of joy to see this place come alive again and alive it is indeed. This place not only has its own website now, but it has a Facebook page too! There is a fairly new restaurant in the building called "Smith's Boathouse". The Smith family has a history of their own. I went to school with one of the brothers and was able to enjoy the family restaurant in Maui (Yummy). It is a great addition to the Park. And if you get a chance, please check it out. But not only that, there is now an area for concerts in addition to the typical walks, playing, biking, picnicking or just hanging out and enjoying the view. There is quite the venue these days at Treasure Island. It makes me smile that it is alive again. Although people call it "new", please don't forget the history, how it started, why it's here and how it has evolved. When in Troy...stop down...a water activity may interest you, a stroll, a bike ride...or maybe just the view. I first came to Willow Bend for lunch in December when I first traveled to Van Wert. I ate lunch with people from the company during the interview/recruitment process and I was impressed by the service and the delicious food. The fact that I got a social membership as part of my joining the company was a perk and certainly a reason why I started working for the company I am in now. I easily could have seen myself coming here to eat... place is nice... classy, and again the food is delicious! I have come a few times since then, leaving it as a place for special occasions including for when I found out I got the house I am currently living at. The waitresses and bar tenders are always friendly. Just love this place. I have eaten various items on this menu, I will focus on my favorites that I've had: 1) Asian Boneless Wings. I love wings, it's one of my favorite things to eat... but I am not a fan of boneless wings. I am a traditionalist and a bit of a snob when it comes to this. These wings, though, I will make an exception for my dislike of boneless wings. These wings which are breaded and covered in a sweet and spicy hoisin oriental sauce... is perfect. It expertly blends spicy and sweet so much, I don't care if they are boneless. 2) Baked Potato Soup. I love this kind of soup, and this is one of the better versions I've had. Especially good during a cold day! 3) Peach-Apple Glazed Pork Chop Ribeye. Another exception to my normal rules of food. I like pork chops with bone... I had boneless. These chops are so juicy... it doesn't matter! It's a bit sweet... almost too sweet for my taste but it just straddles that line... I could eat this over and over 4) 12 oz. Texas Ribeye. This is a big steak! It's a delicious, hearty-cut ribeye with a dried pepper and coffee rub seasoning, char-grilled to perfection... i normally can't finish a 12 oz... I did when I came here! I just couldn't put down my fork! Honorable mention: bread... allegedly made out of veggies? Waiter and manager didn't know which... still that's pretty good... and the bread was warm and soft... and with some butter.... mmmmm! I also feel I should mention that yes there is a golf course attached to this... haven't played and don't know how so I can't opine on that. Moreover, they do have events. I haven't been to one but I may attend the next one since they are bringing a comic... surf and turf dinner included in price. Willow Bend therefore is a great place to both eat and have some fun! I am super happy I am a member of such a wonderful country club! Never saw myself ever becoming a country club guy... but life has a way of surprising you! If you are in the area, join!
