This is an entirely different hotel experience. I am a Platinum Elite member with Marriott, I know what to expect from a Marriott hotel. This is situated with in a National Park directly in front of stone mountain. The rooms are much, much larger than your standard Marriott. The only negative I have it this is an aging property (Anyone know when it was constructed?). The staff are the full embodiment of southern hospitality. Being able to wake up and do a 3 mile run around the park is a amazing experience any traveling runner should have once. read more

As compared to other Marriott properties, this is the second worse that I have every encountered (Courtyard in Portsmouth, Maine is my lifetime worst.).The room is undersized for the bed that is placed in it. When opening the door, there is a whiff of stale air (maybe mold). The air conditioning is noisy. Wallpaper is pealing from the walls. TV Channel choice is terrible. There is no suitcase stand. There is not even a "do not disturb" sign. Cleaning service missed picking up some of our used towels after the first night. The on-site restaurants are not open except for a terrible $14 breakfast in the morning. We observed that the parking lot was only 10 percent full and asked for a different room but were told that none were available. Stay somewhere else. As for me, to make a point, I am staying away from Marriott for the next year. WIFI does not accommodate enough connections for us. read more

Pros Conveniently located across from the park, easy walk to and from. Large rooms allow for plenty of space, so the children can spread out. Pool, large Chess and Checker boards to play on. Cons Only Marriott members get free Wi-Fi. The breakfast buffet had powdered eggs. read more

Stayed for two nights for the July 4th celebration. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The Inn is located in the ideal spot, which made walking to all the events and attractions very easy. I would definitely recommend this hotel to all, those with kids or without. One word of advice, bring your own snacks and drinks. As you would expect, it cost an arm and a leg to buy a drink or snack! read more

I like the old theme, and the history behind the building, as well as its architecture. But our room looked clean but dusty, you could see it by the frames, the ceiling fan and some places where the carpet is. I don't like this in hotels because it gives us allergies. I cannot believe that is owned by Marriott and they don't clean it that well, we stayed at the Evergreen a few days before and it was impeccable and more comfortable, unfortunately we couldn't get another day with our stay and had to stay at the Inn. Hopefully they get this message and clean it better in the future since it's a beautiful antique hotel. read more

If you're desperate for the convenience of being across the street from the mountain then by all means stay here.. otherwise, pass. The rooms are a nice size but walls are pretty bare and furniture is sparce. Also the room just isn't some place you'd be excited to be at. My main gripe is though that you can't pick whether you get a king or two doubles. So that meant I got to spend my anniversary weekend in a separate bed than my wife. Plus they charge $14 for the buffet breakfast and have signs saying you can't take any extras with you. read more

Breakfast is nice and cozy. Water pressures in shower was great. The small toiletries were great. It was very cold when we were there and the heat worked well. Each room has a balcony and rocking chairs which was wonderful and homely feeling. The location was spectacular and when you walk outside you see the mountain! Simply beautiful. The parking alone made the trip worth it. Room was a tad small, but laid out perfectly with plenty of room for clothing. I would definitely recommend here if you want cozy and quiet. Service varied from day to day. The housekeeping didn't replace toiletries the first night. The second night they didn't empty the garbage can and picked up towels from the floor and rehung them. The front desk was really nice and gave us toiletries and clean towels. read more

We did not stay here, however found it important to state the customer service was good. We came over to the restaurant (which sadly did not open till 4). So we decided to find our ride back to downtown Atlanta. The front desk helped & made a call for a driver & offered us to stay inside out of the heat till the driver arrived. it says handicap accessible but there is NO elevator at all, and we are staying here for 6 days they charged use all six days before we could even check in. Not to mention we booked in June of last year for a king sized bed room that was handicap accessible not only did they give away our room they also did not give us the handicap room my wife a severe asthmatic was forced to climb up and down stairs so we may have to be admitted into the hospital before we leave. So the first day of our vacation was spent talking to the staff and getting no wear and i feel when we leave here on Sunday it will be the same. I choose three stars because it is for room, atmosphere and walking distance to park. Basically across the street so with kids we could go and walk back a few times a day. Change cloths, take a break, etc. We have the large double bed suit with fold out couch for five of us. Large room so not feeling closed it. It is old and charming. Nice balcony overlooking the pool area. Everything doesn't have to be new and fancy, old has it's charm. And it is clean, I didn't find anything to complain about in that respect. Staff was incredibly polite and helpful. Not a single one gave any other feeling. Watched the July fourth show from the balcony. Pricey at $10 a chair with little refreshment. I went down to the front lawn and really couldn't see anything of the show, needed to be on the balcony. Going into park tonight for diner and show. Wasn't offered on the fourth. Complaints: TV is older than the mountain which is really disappointing. No, I didn't go on vacation to watch TV. But just to relax in the afternoon out of the crowds, my IPad is bigger, and the TV is blurry. $13.00 internet access! Really? These days? That's just robbery. The dinner Buffett was truly horrible. What little food there was, was under cooked. And we were there about midway through. People were showing up and basically had nothing to eat. What can you do then? Can't leave park on a holiday. Complained and didn't have to pay. On my morning walk I checked the breakfast Buffett and it was fine so we did pay to eat. Food was good, hot and plenty of it. Warning: if you come on the fourth as we did. (Other holidays?) the park closes when full and you can't get in. Even with a hotel rez. This is an older Marriott property whereas there are two locations in Stone Mountain Park. There is a $15 fee for the park but the property will give you a pass so you don't have to pay each time you leave the park during your visit. Events are limited as it is their 'off season' as laser show is only on weekends and please check schedule on what you would like to do. They have many great walking paths for enjoying the scenery. I'd recommend picking up beverages before arriving as sodas and H2O are $3 and beer is $5.50 a bottle in the lobby. Rooms were clean and AC is the older units in the wall but well kept and the balcony's all have rocking chairs and are very spacious. Their pool is nice and the overall property was kept in good condition. Rapid checkout is NOT available at this Marriott property. Wi-Fi is available but not very good read more

Check-in time was supposed to be 4:00 pm and at 4:30 pm was still waiting for a room along with numerous other customers ... A complete lack of organization and professionalism ... Good news: Great location if you're going to enjoy the activities at Stone Mountain Park (directly across the street from the Laser Show). Huge room - two double beds, sofa, chair, desk, and lots of floor space. Good TV. Bad news: Somewhat shabby. Sofa wasn't comfortable; sheets on the beds were not in great shape; just altogether an 'old' feeling about the furnishings. One funny note: the rooster escaped from the petting farm next door and was strutting around the pool area, crowing. I'd stay here again if I was going for park activities, but it's not a great hotel. read more

Not coming back. While the mountain across the street is cool. The hotel is not. It's dated and in rough condition. You do not want to stay here If you don't have a car. I used uber to get here and the hotel is inside the park. They wanted to charge us $15 just for the driver to enter the park to drop me off. While that is not the hotels fault it is extremely inconvenient and inconceivable that they haven't worked out some arrangement, perhaps a guest list at the guard shack?? Then after arriving I find out the only onsite restaurant is not open. How About telling us that on your website?? There is no food within walking distance so you'll have to settle for dominos pizza. And the air conditioning is good at ranges. If you set it to 70 it says somewhere between 60 and 90. Then on my final night at 4 am a smoke detector in the hall starts chirping due to a low battery (oh yea battery operated smoke detector - I did say this place is archaic right?). The one saving grace is the people are nice. But I won't be back. read more

The hotel is beautiful and has a cozy, classic Southern charm. I really appreciated the stellar customer service at the Inn and there willingness to help their guests. You can't be the proximity to Stone Mountain's Memorial Hall (premier site for viewing the Confederate carvings). read more

I reserved a king suite for our honeymoon. When we checked in we were told that there we no king suites, just suites with 2 double beds. The very unhelpful clerk said that the request was not guaranteed. This was not a request but a reservation. Ended up in a regular room with king bed for same price. No offer to discount since I bought a package. The food in the restaurant is beyond bland. We would have had a better meal at McDonalds. I will never darken their door again. read more

Do not book this hotel. We planned to meet up with family who are (hopefully) staying at this hotel. 48 hours prior to our arrival, we were notified through Hotels.com that the room was unavailable. Hotels.com found us another room, but we're no longer with our family. When we called the hotel directly and spoke to the manger, we were told the hotel has 92 rooms and 46 of them are double booked! "New computer, exdpedia booked too many rooms, we're sorry." Clearly the management and administration at this hotel is inept. read more

so i would give this place no stars if i could,,, no restaurant, no bar, uncaring staff,,,and that just the beginning,,, NO SECURITY,, my friend in the room next to mine had someone trying to break into her room!!!! someone was at her outside window trying to break in,, she cut herself on broken glass(FROM THE WINDOW) we called the police,, and NO ONE IN THE HOTEL cared at all!!!!! the doors to the hallway are open to the outside parking no fence , no key card entry, to the hallways,, rooms have peeling wallpaper, and dirty bathroom ,, this place is a disaster and SHAME ON YOU MARRIOT for having no quality control on this property or its staff,,,,, horrible read more

This is a great hotel to stay at if you are visiting Stone Mountain in GA. The rooms are very large and comfy. Although the furniture is quite outdated, the rooms did not smell musty. Housekeeping did an excellent job of keeping the room clean. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. read more

Don't let the name Marriott fool you. This motel is not up to par with other Marriott brands. First of all, we paid for a room package that included tickets to Stone Mountain Park but it rained so the park was closed. We were not offered a refund, only that we could return at a later date and use the tickets which means paying for another night at a motel. The room was clean but the towels were dingy and looked dirty. The TV was an old model and only had a few channels but of course we could pay for movies. The breakfast and dinner buffets were terrible. The food was cold and dried out. I have stayed in many Marriott motels and none have disappointed me as this one did. read more

This is such a crapy old motel. You have to pay an additional $15 to enter the Stone Mountain area and wifi and breakfast are not included with room reservations. For the quality and comfort of the rooms the prices are too excessive. The liquid soap wasn't replaced after the previous guests and towels and blankets seem to be unwashed as they aren't white and were stained. There is no comforter on the bed it is just bed sheets. read more

We came to Stone Mountain for a business conference. At first we were excited, but one step inside our room and our minds quickly changed. Everything is old and outdated. The hotel obviously doesn't believe in pest control... We finally took it upon ourselves to buy a can of bug spray and used the entire can on our room. At least 10 spiders ran away from the poison on our door alone! My husband killed a cockroach and a few spiders inside the room also. If we didn't have to stay here, I would've turned around and left right away. The "restaurant" that's mentioned on the sign doesn't exist. Every where in the park is so overpriced. Best to eat about 5 miles away in town. The Evergreen would be a much better choice. Stay away from the Inn!! Very overpriced.... It's more like a $30 night Super 8 than a Marriott. Shame on them for charging upwards (and over) $100! The cleaning maid was very rude and seemed hung over. read more

We stayed one night and thought the accommodations to be fairly decent. The beds were probably some of the most comfortable I've ever slept in, in a hotel. Sure, there is some updating that could be done, but overall, we found it to be just fine. Also, the room we had was huge! From reading another review here, it looks like it's going to be getting some renovations soon. I didn't have to deal with any of the front desk workers so I can't say whether they were efficient/kind/rude etc., but I didn't hear any complaints from my husband so all transactions must've gone smoothly. read more

Loved it. Everything was nice and easy here. 1) Reservation process was no problem. Everyone was friendly and helpful. 2) I really do think they made a rarer exception for us, but we were able to check in at 1pm instead of waiting until 4. Having a sleeping baby in 100 degree heat helped was apparently our ticket in early. 3) rooms were huge! Bathroom was big too. Huge closets. 4) Nice room ammenities: pull out couch, fridge, AC that kept up great with the 100+ degree heat, private balcony with rocking chairs. 5) The pool was great. The water temp was perfect, and there were LOTS of funnoodles around to float on. 6) Free buffet breakfast (with package) was great. It was standard buffet breakfast fare, nothing super fancy or awesome, but they had everything that you'd expect or reasonably need at breakfast. 7) Nice price. 8) RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET from EVERYTHING! No need to drive to most attractions. The walk was almost as close as driving. 9) Free wi-fi for marriot rewards members which is free to get. Just sign up before you arrive and make sure they have your number on file with the reservation. Con: -The website said you can see the laser show from the hotel balcony. We didn't even try to watch it from there, but it's a partially obstructed view with the trees and you probably couldn't hear the music as well. Just walk across the street and watch it. -Only one pillow per double bed, so if you're sharing it, go ahead and ask for another pillow. If you want a spa, golf course, fancy meals, etc, then go to the Evergreen down the street. This is the most family friendly and wallet friendly option. read more

The rooms are spacious but extremely FILTHY. My daughter was kneeling down playing on the carpet and her knees and tops of her feet were BLACK from the carpet. So black that I thought it was some kind of soot. I also called the front desk to ask for extra blankets for the fold-out couch. More than 30 minutes later, someone brings up a blanket that was torn and had been eaten by moths. It looked like they dug it out of some storage area. It was so stiff it felt like a big Brillo pad. Then, after being gone for half the day we come back to find that room service emptied the trash cans but that was literally IT. Beds weren't made, no extra towels. The place is very dated. The beds sag in the middle are uncomfortable. We are Platinum for life Marriot Reward members and will NOT be coming back here. Lastly, the breakfast buffet, although we were given 2 free adult vouchers, was terrible. What is going on here?? Is this place in bankruptcy??? Severely lacking in ALL respects! read more

NO, NO, NO . . . old, smelly, and way over priced! 13$ a day for internet service and PLEASE don't pay 35$ for a powdered egg breakfast for two. The food and the coffee were horrible. As a finale we asked for late check out, they told us no even though the hotel wasn't even close to being full. Oh and the bed was awful! The other hotel in the park was MUCH nicer. We had a great time at the hotel and park! Pool was very clean and well kept as well as the grounds. Breakfast was exceptional for the room add on of $10 per night and all three of us left quite satisfied and the wait staff did an excellent job of keeping my 2 young boys content. Breakfast is buffet style with many options and wait staff works for tips. The ONLY thing I would suggest is that Marriott bite the bullet and replace the 25" tube TV's..... read more

Our seriously overpriced room had plentiful mold, mildew and zero promised inclusions. The highly acclaimed eatery was closed, no coffee in the lobby, disgusting linens and towels, and a pack of surly staff rounded out the experience. The combination package they sold us was cancelled, only partially refunded,and then double billed to my card. We checked out early, much to the disappointment of my daughter, who received this "snow vacation" from Santa! This matter is still under investigation though no employee from Marriott OR Stone Mountain Inn has returned any of my calls. I am amazed this establishment is still operating. read more

Stayed here for 5 nights and paid for the stay for breakfast.(2 adults and children 12 and under eat free we had only 2 children and 2 adults) They do not tell you that you will have to drive to the conference center to eat when they do not have the buffet here.( 15 min drive with speed limit) Plus they have drastically cut what they serve on the buffet at the inn. On the last morning we had to drive to the conference center to eat, and we had a very rude waitress who decided to argue with us about our bill while we where trying to eat. The she charged us 30.00 for our meal when it was to com with our stay. We went back to the inn and explained it to the ladies at the desk, and they told us if we could prove that children 12 and under eat free they would adjust it. This is our 3rd time staying at the Inn and will probably be the last. Never have we been treated so rude. If you stay and get The stay with breakfast, make sure you check it out first. read more
