When I ran the water to take a shower it came out bright orange and rusty for about 2 minutes. The bedding was full of mold (picture attached) The TV didn't work but they fixed it after 4 hours. The handle in the shower fell off. When I brought this up to the front desk staff, and after holding the blanket up as in the picture her responses were: "That's not mold" (yet she felt the need to have me put it in a trash bag she was holding because she didn't want to touch it) And "Housekeeping was supposed to run the water before guests came to the room" Horrible experience!!! They did nothing to compensate for the disgusting conditions of their room. If could give it zero stars, I would. read more

This is a very old establishment. Built in 1965, it has held up well. So if you want new go to the Evergreen Resort. However, The room is huge! It's got to be close to 400 square feet! So plenty of room to stretch out and chill. They have large rocking chair balconies overlooking the pool area. Mini-fridge in room, Direct TV to watch. Large bath room in fact 2 separate rooms, tub shower. Coffee pot in room. Only complaint I have is be nice to have microwave and safe in room. There is no restaurant at all at this facility. So plan on bringing snacks or eating at Evergreen or in the park. Unless you want to go out of park. Due to wildlife in area, no trash cans handy. read more

I'm giving 5 stars based on location (right across the street from the light show, water play and dinotaurium), cleanliness, value for price and service. The building is dated, but it's comfortable and had a nice sized pool. We were traveling with two small children ages 3.5 and 5 so this place was ideal as we did not spend as much time in our room. The room is huge with a large bathroom area which allowed enough room for them to get their energy out. Property is surrounded by beautiful lawn and scenery. My husband took a beautiful morning run so all in all it fit everybody in the family's needs. read more

This inn is at the perfect location to visit stone mountain park. You are right across one street and can walk without a problem. The inn is a bit dated but the rooms were huge and the beds were comfortable. The walls were a bit thin and I could easily hear my neighbors. The thing that stood out the most for me is the staff, so friendly and helpful. Definitely made a great impression on me of southern hospitality. They have limited options for eating though. Daily breakfast buffet but only offer dinner buffet on a Saturday night. That have a small store with snacks for purchase by the front desk. You do have to pay for wifi unless you join the Marriott Bonvoy club, then it is free. Overall this was a good experience, the biggest complaint was the noise level and the inn being a bit dated. Stayed here for the Mustangs at the Mountain annual car show. Originally we had reservations for the other Marriot inside stone mountain park and cancelled those when some rooms opened up at this hotel. Pretty sure that was a mistake for a few reasons. This establishment doesn't offer any type of breakfast, the restaurant is only open Saturday nights, no microwave in the room, wall paper was peeling off the wall, the striker plate on our door fell off, Wi-Fi costs additional money and the decore was very outdated. All of this for over double the cost of an off park facility. Next year we will NOT be making the same mistake. I will stay at a hotel off of the property for half the cost for more amenities and a more modern establishment. read more

We had to be relocated to three different rooms and each one of the rooms would be considered unlivable. The first room had the water piping completely detached among some other small issues in the room that we had to get a tech for. The second room had no working plumbing as far as the toilet. You would think when we had to be moved again They would do a thorough check on the next room but in this case they did not and our 3rd room's water was a dark burnt orange as if the pipes were rusted over. Other small things like my face breaking out from the water, TV or cable completely disconnected. Dead roaches on the floor and a spider in its web, which means it built a home. The stale smell in 2 of the 3 rooms. An A/C unit with cracking all around it as if there was condensation. I contacted the property so that they could do the right thing and address the matter and no one has called me back. I even told booking. Com about the situation and they tried to reach out for me and the property did not respond to them either. Bad things happen and it is unfortunate that companies are so willing to take your money but not willing to even talk to you when things go wrong and try to fix it. read more

If you're interested in seeing Stone Mountain, the location is practically perfect. The hotel, however, has challenges that made our stay and experience average at best. PARTIAL CLOSURE FOR COVID. My wife and I were traveling in November of 2020, so we managed our plans very closely to minimize exposure to other people. As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member, I get extended checkout which comes in handy during circumstances like this. Since I can check out later (usually 3PM/4PM-ish) my wife and I typically head back to our room to take a shower and change clothes before hitting the road again after experiencing local activities. We had planned to do this in Stone Mountain Park since the park opened at 11 AM and it would give us ample time to check it out. Unfortunately, I wasn't notified until we actually arrived AT the hotel that the property was closed during the week and, since it was only open on weekends, was set to close at noon on Sunday. THE ISSUE HERE is that I had requested the extended checkout in advance and, had I been notified of this limitation in advance, I would have moved my reservation to the Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort which was right down the road. After having spent the entire day on the road (we drove from Memphis, TN) we just didn't have the energy to deal with it when told that our checkout was now 11:30 AM. ACCESSIBLE ROOM. Prior to arrival, my wife had sprained her ankle while we were hiking earlier in our trip. While checking in, I asked if they had a first floor room and they offered us the wheelchair accessible room which (at the time) sounded perfect. It wasn't until later that the two lamps on the bedside end tables, which doubled as charging hubs, weren't plugged in. I moved the end tables and there weren't any outlets behind them. So, if you were disabled and staying in the room, you had to go to the front door to turn off the lights before going to bed and then find your way to you bed in the dark. This is not only inconvenient, but also dangerous IMO. I've left the feedback with Marriott, but my advice if you're planning a stay here? Spend the extra money/points and stay at the Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort down the road instead. read more

There was hazard tape on the patio & on the way to the ice machine. No lights in the parking lot! All of the coffee was decaf & was told by front desk they didn't have any regular! Please do not come to this place. This place is infested with cockroaches. They are all on the ceiling on the floor on the curtains. The door had mold on it. No one has slept in it in years there were cobwebs everywhere the couch bed was dry rotted. It was dirty I would never be going back. The only good part was the staff was pretty friendly, and even though we changed the rooms four times they still were happy to give us a refund. Absolutely will not be going back ever again. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews! This Inn is a historic inn, which is why it is still in that type of character. I find it beautifully charming. We had a King room and it was wonderful. Wooden rockers on the patio and facing the pool. The bed was huge and super comfortable. The hotel was clean and so was our room. We did the breakfast and dinner buffets and both were delicious!!! Breakfast included eggs, biscuits and gravy, oatmeals, fruit, and bacon/sausages. It was great! The dinner menu included: lemon chicken, baked fish, baked potato bar, wild rice, and a lovely salad bar. Dinner had a sundae bar also, which we loved!! Parking is very convenient right outside each hotel room. There is a $15 parking pass, however you only pay this once and can leave/re-enter an unlimited amount of times. The Park trails were done wonderfully and very clearly marked. We enjoyed each of the trails. The Cherokee trail was our favorite with some challenging declines throughout it. We will definitely be back again!! read more

Luckily according to the front desk lady next year the place is getting a 2million dollar make over all new walk paper, carpet, paint, and every room is getting a new bed. We enjoyed our 2 day stay Very much! First of all we were greeted by John at the front desk who was very helpful advising us of so many great activities we can enjoy while we were there. Second...Our room was clean, bed was sooo comfortable & we were happy to have a lil fridge. Third... We purchased a package that included the breakfast buffet. It was Wonderful!! Our $150/nt room was ok. It's actually a $50/nt room but you pay an extra $100 a night for the convenience of being inside the park and right across the street from everything. It's all about the location. We had a king bed suite at the very end of the hallway so no neighbors on one side. But we didn't get a balcony with the homey rocking chairs either. We just got the walkway. The room was big enough for the grandkids to run around and play. We didn't worry too much about them breaking any furniture either. That's because the dressers had scratches and dents, a couple drawers were missing knobs and the couch was already pre-stained with - I have no idea what that dark spot was. It was like the kids had already been there! Other than that, we slept well. Really, the bed was fine even after the grandkids jumped all over it, the sheets looked clean, the pillows were mushy. Loved the water pressure and shower head though. Our towels looked and smelled clean and new. That was a singular joy among a few annoyances. Like, you pay for internet in your room if you're not a Marriott member. Why do hotels still charge for wifi? Just stop doing that! At $150/nt, Marriott should've included wifi. Also if you want a cup of coffee in the morning, or anytime, they charge $1 per styrofoam cup (or 2 gulps, if you're my hubs). I speak now for all coffee addicts - free coffee in the lobby should be a permanent hotel amenity. Is that really too much to ask? The pub is only open on Saturdays so you better not want a drink the other 6 days. We tried the dinner buffet at the restaurant. I think it's the same quality as the breakfast buffet only with powdered mashed potatoes instead of powdered eggs. It's not really a bad hotel. It's simply overpriced. And they charge for everything. The room, pool and grounds were nice, but the front desk staff bordered on hostile. They refused to cancel our reservation (well within their rights), but then told us at check in that they'd over booked thenselves and moved us to the Evergreen to accommodate other obviously more important guests. Clearly, cancelling our reservation as requested would have helped their overbooking mistake, but they figured they could bully is onto a room half the size. They didn't bother to warn us or ask us if this was okay. It wasn't. We refused the Evergreen. Requests for pool towels were greeted with rolled eyes. The room was fairly clean, but dusty. They provided two towels for a room reserved four guests and no hand soap. When we realized we'd left a personal item behind, we were forwarded to housekeeping's voicemail with no concern for whether or not we would ever retrieve our things (we never did). I've gotten better service at camp grounds. I cannot fathom a circumstance that would prompt me to return to or recommend this place. This was by far the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. It wasn't just the rooms, but the hotel in general. We come to Stone Mountain every year, but we usually camp. We left the inn thinking of all the new camping gear we will be buying because we will not stay here again. All the pictures that have been previously posted are 100% accurate so I won't post more of the same thing, but here are some pros and cons of the inn: Pros: -Located directly across the street from the attraction entrance. -Hotel staff was nice Cons: - Very outdated for the price you pay. The campground is far better. Also, directly outside of Stone Mountain is a country inn that has free breakfast and wifi- way better. - wifi is $13 a day! Industry standard is free wifi and this run down place charges $13 a day. We didn't come here to browse the Internet, but at night when families are trying to calm down the little ones it would be nice to stream a movie. The campground has free wifi and the evergreen at Stone Mountain is $15 a day. - breakfast is $14 per person! I know breakfast isn't alway an industry standard, but when the hotel is run down you have to give me something to hold on to. - the rooms are huge and we had two double beds. The room could easily fit two kings. The mattress itself feels like it was original to the hotel and the linens as well. I have slept on air mattresses that were more comfortable then the bed. - we had flies in our room - the toilet clogged after my 6 year old uses it - the ice machine was broken - the pool was green I know that I will be told in a reply, because I saw the same reply on every bad review that was written, that this will be forwarded to the management of the hotel, but I promise you this isn't worth the money. Like the previous review said this place has not been updated since the civil war. First room we were given the beds were unmade, there was a dead cockroach and a huge spider. With much reluctance we were given a second room that had a dead moth in the middle of the floor and the bathroom was covered with hair and had clearly not been cleaned. We didn't dare eat here. The beds have two sheets with a blanket inbetween and were uncomfortable. The only bonus is the location....it was great to be able to watch the laser light show and walk back. Sadly, this place is in need of a major overhaul and at the very least some bug treatment. There was a wasp nest in the corner of the ceiling between when we walked from our first to second. There were dead roaches out front. The ice machine had a green bacteria down the front. Our second room, the bed had crumbled crackers under it. read more

Holy crap, this place is awful. This place is old, and it shows. Doesn't look like its been updated since the battle of Kennesaw. We met an in-law here to eat at the "restaurant" during the holidays. When you first look at it, you immediately notice that none of the rooms have windows. Creepy. The lobby is gaudy and looks like this place was even gross in the 70's. There is the tiniest bar I've ever seen tucked in the corner of the lobby. Up a spiral staircase is the dining room where several buffets are lined up where food is placed to slowly die. The night I was there they had some ribs, and various Southern sides that were not made with love. The actually looked back at you menacingly, as if to dare you to put some on your plate. Dessert consisted of a dry cake and cold apple pie. At least the dining room had windows. What was even more amazing was that their were tourists there and they obviously were spending Christmas here. I couldn't think of a more depressing thought. Poor Stone Mountain Inn, I wish somebody would take care of you. It should be a crime to let a place deteriorate like this. Oh and the kicker? It's owned by Marriott. Really? Marriott? The only thing this hotel has going for it is its "atmosphere". I fell into the trap of booking a room at this place because the description called it a former plantation turned into a hotel. Since I'm from the North, I'm not familiar with plantations or that history or anything so I figured this would be a cool historical place to stay. Well, historical may be accurate: it seems this hotel hasn't been updated since almost the Civil War and it shows. In this day in age, I think most of us traveling folks want history and ambiance with modern conveniences like flatscreen TVs, new linens and mattresses, down (or faux down) pillows, and higher-end fixtures in the bathroom. This hotel had NONE of those things. In fact, I filled out a survey for Marriott about how our room smelled kind of moldy and the TV stand (made of shitty particle board) was broken. Ugh. We had our own little "porch", so that was cool, but the door was so hard to get open that it seemed dumb once we did. It also only faced into the dark, empty courtyard which still had a kind of nice view but basically of nothing else but a garden and more of the hotel. The bed was soft and mostly comfortable, though the linens weren't as new or updates as they are in other Marriott's, so that wasn't pleasing to me. The TV was old and had weird, flaky cable that had a lot of static on some channels. Isn't all of this stuff digital now? What is the deal? Also, Internet was paid in the rooms and practically inaccessible from where we were in the hotel, so we couldn't have paid if we wanted to. Quit charging people for Internet - it's 2015 and everyone uses it and it's incredibly inconvenient when it's not just free. Sigh. I read so many bad reviews of the breakfast that I skipped the buffet here (which was $20) and just went to the Starbucks in the other hotel in the park (which was shitty and awful, but that's for another review). If you want the comfort of a modern (albeit much more expensive hotel), stay in the Marriott convention center on the other side of the park. The only real pluses about this place were its proximity to the Confederate Memorial (you could actually watch the laserlights show from the porch of the hotel if you wanted) and the price (our AAA membership got us an $84/night rate). Definitely a more reasonable price than some motel we stayed at outside of Nashville (see my previous reviews). If I went back, I'd likely stay somewhere else. read more

This place is a total dump! The only plus is that it's right across from the Stone Mountain Christmas area. Staff is rude, had to ask for a baby crib three times before someone finally brought one. The door had huge gaps in the seal, so cold air blew in all night long and we had to place a towel in the cracks to keep the cold air out! Paint peeling all over the room, uneven floor in the bathroom, $13 a day wi-fi (even for Marriot members), no microwave, thought the heater was going to die because it rattled the entire room. Most of the plugs in the room didn't work, and two lightbulbs were out in the bathroom. Peeling grout around the sinks...you can't make this stuff up.... The people that gave 5 stars for this hotel have obviously never stayed anywhere nice or have seriously low expectations. Don't be fooled by these reviews, this hotel is quite possibly the worst I have ever stayed in. I love Marriot and will continue to use them when I travel for work, but you couldn't pay me to stay at this garbage hotel again. Zero stars all around!! read more

The outside is stunning.the inside is rundown and in desperate need of renovation.the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling, and missing in a spot. The room was huge, with 2 queen beds, a twin bed with a trundle, and then the sleeper sofa. Room has a small refrigerator that froze everything we put into it. The A/C was way to small for the room so we were hot all night.it had a beautiful patio, but the bugs made it impossible to use . The two queen beds we're droopy and saggy, not very comfortable. For the price and it being a Marriott, I expected way more. If we were not attending an event across from it I would of stayed elsewhere for a lot less. Then when we arrived, the lady at the desk was having a gab fest with a guest( who had a very jumpy poodle that had a service vest on. Though doubt it was one.) When I said excuse me she notified me she was not the front desk clerk and I would have to wait for one. About five. Minutes later she finaly shows up. Took her another 10 minutes to find me a ground floor room as they do not have an elevator. Never mentioned the internet was free for reward members. Had to go back to the office later that day. The two people at the desk we're very friendly and helpful. Went out of their way to help not only myself but the other guest in the lobby. My daughter and I booked rooms for Thanksgiving thinking that we would have the same experience that we had approximately 10 years ago. Boy was we wrong. Upon arrival we were expecting the inside and outside to be decorated for Christmas, however that was not the case. After check-in we get to the hallway were the rooms were located it went downhill from there. Hallway was full of leaves,upon opening the door to our room we were met with a god awful smell. Thank goodness I always bring Lysol with me. The bathroom floor was dirty and hair from a previous guest was in the shower. The wall plugs were so old that my charger and such would not stay plugged in. Open the refrigerator to put our water in and I find food left behind from previous guest. The room was dark, dirty, and in need of a renovation and the bed had a noticeable dip in the center and had to be one of the most uncomfortable beds that I have ever tried to sleep on. My daughters room was not any better. The breakfast that was included was ok at best. We made our reservations at the desk during check- in for the Thanksgiving dinner. This was a buffet style meal that left much to be desired. When I booked the rooms the price for the meal was suppose to be $18.00 per person, imagine my shock when I received a bill for 4 for $151.00. A couple of days after we arrived home we received an email asking us about our visit. Of course I sent them a detailed evaluation. $50 and an hour of my life that I'll never see again...and wouldn't want to, minus the $50. Stopped in here per Mom's request for an early dinner before the Christmas Parade and OMG was it bad. I sincerely felt pity for the Europeans bussing tables with their nice European accents because they had to be the shepherds of this crappy buffet. Crappy food, cold desserts, and unlimited carbonated beverages is what you can expect. Oh, and atmosphere? Dull, outdated, and no ambient music so you hear every word from the next table and every clink from fork scraping food from plate in the whole place. The outside looks gorgeous and their pool is nice but the rooms, though spacious, are very outdated. Ditto to everything that's been said about this place, it's all true! Haven't given breakfast a try, but reading the previous reviews, I'm a bit scared. Update: Whoa. I regret putting certain foods on my plate. According to the signs, you're taking your chance on the sausage patties and I can confirm the powdered eggs. Blech! And the fruits are so awkwardly placed under the buffet thing that you have to contort your whole body just to reach it. THEN you find out that they're not even ripe. Which is a shame, because I look forward to fruit in my breakfasts. I guess there are other things to eat, but I was a bit deflated after eating there. The state of their food is depressing. The room size is huge and parking is plentiful. The location suited us as well. We love their Thann aromatic wood toiletries which are standard at every Marriott property. The breakfast was good and everyone in my family enjoyed it. Those are the positives. The beds and linens could use some upgrading. The linens are threadbare and moth-eaten in several places, but they were clean so there's that. However, I'm thinking if a place charges $150/night or so, they can keep up with replacing worn out linens. The bed I slept in felt wobbly and bouncy. I never did figure out how to set the time on the bedside clock radio; that was bizarre, but I did think it was decent there was an audio-in plug if we wanted to play music from our devices on it. If you need a place to stay inside the park and you don't want to spend over $200 a night this will suffice, but just beware it's an old motor lodge that's been upgraded but still shows its age. read more

Not goodDo not trust the on line booking (Marriot) for this Inn. I booked a room for Christmas and it was a guaranteed confirmation. A week before my stay I was contacted by Evergreen Marriot that my reservation had been canceled due to business purposes. They wanted to move me from Stone Mountain Inn to the Evergreen Marriot which was 4 miles away on the opposite side of the mountain and away from Stone Mountain Park. At the inn we would be in walking distance of everything we wanted to visit. At the evergreen we would have to hassle with and pay for parking. For our inconvenience we were offered free continental breakfast and Wi-Fi (which is free at most hotels anyway-at least all I have stayed in). I booked the room late one night and when I went back on the site the next day the room rate had increased two and a half times the amount I had booked it for. I have to say I was nervous about our stay based on other reviews. We kept our reservation because of the room size. I was prepared to be a bit disappointed but I can assure you I was NOT disappointed at all. The rooms are very large. My kids were running around yelling "I feel like George Washington" when we got here because it does feel like stepping back in time. It was very clean. The bed is extremely comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was great. We saw the fireworks right after we arrived. Oh and the convenience of the parking can't be beat. We parked directly outside the room. Last night we stayed at s Residence Inn in Buckhead and this hotel is more convenient and more comfortable. I will be checking out the breakfast buffet in a few:) read more

It was definitely an old building, but it was part of the charm. The AC worked great and the room was clean. We did have to remake the bed since the sheets were put on wrong and kept sliding, but other than that the bedding was fine. We enjoyed the giant chess and checker set by the pool and enjoyed playing a game or two. We would have liked to have free WIFI in the room, but you can go to the main lobby and use it for free. read more

Really enjoyed our week here. Housekeepers have been very nice. Front desk lady is kind. Super convenient to all the fun of Stone Mountain. Rooms are huge with private patios that have rocking chairs. Huge chess set by the pool. Nice courtyard with smokers remotely removed so we all can enjoy the stay. Rooms could use some updating but they are clean and beds are comfortable. They are nice and firm. Not those nasty squishy things that made your back ache. Good solid support. See laser show from the Inn or walk across the street. Great place to stay if a Mountain member. Will be back! read more

The room was very small and had a odor , the towels appeared dirty went to desk to exchange and they were yellow as well, the bath tub would not drain. When we checked in we were told to logged into Wifi and click on okay for the 12.95 charge for WiFi for each guest that we had enough points that we would not be charged for this even though we just started the account. The breakfast is 15.00 each for Sausage and Eggs. Definitely not Marriot quality. Oh if you are planning to use a government discount don't that rate is double than a normal rate, really odd. I give this hotel a no star. We will not return. read more
