The service was terrific- room was made for us even though we read they were booked the day before arrived. We had a crab meat and lobster sandwich, delicious, scrumptious sweet potato fries and delicious salad with a wonderful vinaigrette dressing. Sticky date pudding and coffee rounded things off. We visited PEI for a one-week trip - and were so blown away by this restaurant that we came here twice. It was the same waitress serving us both times, so she quickly recognized us. Lovely service and delicious food! The pub is located in one of the stations by the old Kensington train station. It's extremely charming and interesting, and really takes you back! This is a review of all the dishes we ordered through the days (what I tasted), rated in order of most to least favourite: Crab and Shrimp Dip Chunks of juicy crab and thick shrimp are loaded in this cheesy dip, served with the most delectable crispy kettle chips. While my sister adored the dip (there were literally strings of cheese as you pulled from the small ceramic bowl), my parents raved about the crisp kettle chips. They said that they would pay just for the chips, if possible. It was a great appetizer - we got it to share both times. Seafood Chowder We went to Prince Water Corner Shop for their chowder too but ultimately found this place to be better. It's a creamy, loaded soup, with bits of clam, haddock, and 4-5 whole mussels (in shell). The baguette with which it's served is *chef's kiss* SO GOOD. It's perfectly toasted and buttery. Again, we ordered this both times. Classic Station Burger This place serves darn good burgers. We got a double patty, and the combination of PEI beef, melted cheese, tomato, pickle, etc. was so satisfying and rich - yet it didn't feel heavy at all. My boyfriend swapped out the normal fries for sweet potato fries - the normal fries are crisper while the sweet potato ones are a bit softer and moist. The sweet potato ones are served with a side of smoky mayo, which adds a bit of umami / saltiness to an otherwise super sweet chip! (P.S. their onion rings are FANTASTIC as well!) Smokestack Burger This burger is on the sweeter side with the BBQ caramelized onions but I adored the crispy bacon. Overall good, but I preferred the different flavours offered by the classic (the tanginess from the pickle, sweetness from the tomato, etc.). Pan Fried Haddock I got the haddock crusted with cornmeal (wanted something different), served with a well-dressed market salad and buttery, crispy potatoes. The haddock was mediocre to be honest - I found it a touch dry (the fish filet was quite thin) but it wasn't greasy at all. The herb buttered potatoes were rich and a bit too oily - I would've preferred less herb flavour but the crispy parts on the buttered potatoes were delicious! read more

Interior is a little crowded with bad acrostics since it used to be a train station. But the food and service make up for this. Great burgers I had a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and enjoyed it all. Clean plates for both of us but of course we didn't eat all the fries; too much provided. Absolutely outstanding! Local owner's the husband can be found cleaning tables saying hi, wife is one of the chef's... Kathy is one of the BEST waitresses I've EVER encountered in my life. We had a celiac friend with us she went above and beyond to ensure him MANY guests eat here because of gluten free choices. Even a different fryer. Ambiance is a little loud inside but I'm not there for a yoga class. Thanks so much for consistently being amazing. I've had almost all on the menu, can't go wrong!!! read more

Wow! What a wonderful experience! Rob (our server) was incredibly friendly, and quick! When he found out we had just gotten married in Saturday he offered us a dessert which we thought was so thoughtful! Darcy was kind and gave us some great suggestions of things we could do with our pup while we were in the area. We chatted with a few other friendly staff members while we sat out on their beautiful & clean patio! We also thought it was such a sweet touch that they had a bowl of water ready to go for our pup We will be having a 1 year anniversary party next year at Clinton Hills and we will be sure to tell all our guests to pop in! Amazing atmosphere and terrific high quality fresh food! Modern takes on classic pub food, good seafood selection of that's what you're looking for but non-seafood choices also. Excellent beers on tap and the service is very friendly! I would say this is a destination stop as you drive around PEI! Went on a Tuesday night and it was very busy. Got seated at the bar then they found a table for us. Had a wonderful server who got us our drinks quickly and was kind enough to put our order in before a Big groups. We each got fish and chips. For the price it was a great amount of food. Service was perfect, and the spacious outdoor seating area under umbrellas is a treat in the summer. The menu is fairly standard for pub fare, with special dishes written on the blackboard inside, or recited to you by the waitstaff outside. The quality of food is exceptional, and the portions are very generous. I had the fish tacos, which were perfect, and my fellow diner had the special, the crustacean BLT. Located in an interesting area, with a lovely outside patio and the inside look pleasant as well. Menu has a wide selection of upmarket pub fare which was of good quality. Stopped here on a motorcycle trip around PEI. We were just looking for a place to eat and came across this little gem. The establishment has designated motorcycle parking which is easily visible from the outside dining area which allowed us to keep a watchful eye on our motorcycles. A major bonus in my books. Servers were pleasant and engaging. They really made us feel welcome. Food arrived quickly after our orders were taken and was delicious. Good choice of local island brewed beer on tap which two friends I was with enjoyed. Overall beer selection is good. Recommended. Will stop in again on our next trip to PEI. read more

Came across the Island Stone Pub on a lovely Friday summer evening. Myself and my boyfriend decided to try it out! We had an awesome meal there, while seated at the bar. We were offered a table but declined and were really happy we did this. The bar tender was great to us and really made our experience one of a kind. Food was amazing, we had the mussels and Korean Ribs. I would definitely recommend the ribs, and we will be going back for more asap! And we look forward to trying the rest of the menu as well, it all looked so good and it was really hard to decide. Also, if you like Caesars, you should definitely try theirs. It is delicious! My boyfriend also liked the beer selection they offered, including a seasonal Gahan brew. We have already recommended Island Stone Pub to family and friends to go and we will be going back again for sure!! read more

Wow! What a place...we ordered the daily special, Crustacean BLT, Fish & Chips and a bucket of mussels. All were exquisitely prepared and quite delicious. Loved loved loved. We sat inside and we're grateful to have done so because the benches, rock music (tastefully low) and funky small town touches made us feel like locals! Add the drafts of PEI beers (loved the Island Red Ale) and I was a happy camper. Ordered fish tacos, which were just perfect - really well balanced, fresh, and half my plate was a delicious salad. My sister gave 2 thumbs up to her chicken curry burrito. My parents thought the haddock was to die for (I found it to be a little flat and greasy, but loved the haddock pieces in my tacos!) For desert we went for blueberry rhubarb and flourless choc torte. I thought the portion of the torte was a tad small until tasting it - richest desert ever, the size makes sense! I noticed the wait staff was incredible here, not just in reaction to my dad (who was a little weird) but as they served others both outside and in. Just super sweet and hospitable. I ate here a few Saturdays ago with my girlfriend for lunch. Since it is the offseason we were having a tough time finding a place to eat and got excited when we found this place. It is actually situated in an old train station and it was cool to be able to see the tracks and what used to be the platform. For my entree I decided to have the gawk burger with chips. The burger was cooked nicely, was juicy and enjoyed the toppings. My chips were also good and I left here satisfied. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here in the future. I have a cottage in PEI and i visit family here all the time. I have been to this restaurant several times. The serves may be a little slow, but its worth it. Their sweet potato fires are amazing, and the fish is fresh and has a lot of flavor. Defiantly stop in and try it! read more

The great food and very friendly smart service should be enough to get you there but add to that a fantastic patio on warm days and a wonderful atmosphere inside and out. Good variety of local beverages. So happy that this place is able to survive despite the reduced seating due to the pandemic. One of those rare restaurants we stumbled onto where the service and food were excellent. We were seated immediately, got our beers quickly, orders taken right away. Looking for a place to eat in Kensington that wasn't a dairy bar....came upon this place - right as we were stocking up on some BEvERages next door at the liquor outlet. Ordered a sociable size of the Beach Chair Lager, fish & chips, a fish sandwich, a burger, a caesar salad, jalapeno popper dip. As far as I am concerned, the fish was outstanding - crisp outside yet moist and flaky on the inside. HUGE portion of fish and fries - right what we were looking for. The fish sandwich is simply fish from the Fish & Chips, in a bun with lettuce. And it was fantastic. The fresh cut fries were to die for. The burger came on a pretzel bun and looked good - it was a basic burger well executed - and let's face it...I am sure it is not their specialty. I am ok with that. The salad was good, and the jalapeno popper dips was so yummy with "home made" chips. Owner was out on the patio to check on us. Great staff overall. Super place to have a beer a quick bite, and hang out on the patio. We'll be back. read more

We had the burger (grass fed) with the pretzel bun and the fish tacos. Both very tasty. We had about a 15 minute drive from our cottage to get here and was certainly worth it. read more

This place was great! My husband and I went for lunch. They have a beautiful outside patio, where they were super friendly to our dog and brought her water. Service: fantastic. The whole staff was very friendly and attentive. Food: delicious. My husband got a burger with blue cheese that we both enjoyed. I got lobster BLT, that I also REALLY enjoyed. Drink selection was good, too. We both tried the wedding punch cocktail... I feel redundant, but it was also great. Also, reasonably priced in my opinion. The old train station was also super cool! Perfect experience. This place is located in an old train station. If you're a hipster you'll love the idea but if you're not, like me, you'll love it cause of its history. We had to lobster burger and the fish and chips. The pieces of fish were huge! They were both so tasty. It wasn't greasy or over breaded so I really enjoyed it. Their drinks are really creative and delicious as well. I had something lady... I can't recall... and it was an excellent recommendation. The service was awesome. One of the waiters there had a conversation with my husband about the giant print on the wall b/c it was of the TTC streetcar that my husband recall riding when he was a kid. This was a real gem! It's a converted train station that offers a small bar and dining room. The food was supreme, and the staff were all very courteous and attentive. The owner happened to glance by my father's plate and even though there was a generous portion of fries, brought a second basket over because he thought it appeared that my dad didn't get a fair serving. I had wandered into The Island Stone Pub due to their very delicious sounding burger in the PEI Burger Love campaign. I'm an Island resident but have to admit I hadn't heard of this gem until the past few weeks. I have to say, it is indeed a gem! Adorably furnished with a sense of humour, the Island Stone Pub is a small but has an impact. I had the Burger love burger, complete with guac, pico de gallo and a pretzel bun and came with a side of home cut fries. Everything was delicious! I'd like to give the food 4.5 stars and the service 3 stars...that balances to 4, right? Anyways...We were in PEI for a wedding this past weekend and were looking for somewhere to have dinner. We didn't want anything fancy, and we weren't in the mood for take-out fish and chips so the lovely girl at the front desk of our hotel recommended The Island Stone Pub. We did some research before heading out and concluded that while it seemed the service was slow, the consensus was that the food was worth it. So we headed out. Upon arrival there were a number of people outside and a few inside. We wanted to sit outside on their fabulous patio but weren't sure if we should wait to be seated or seat ourselves. Eventually we grabbed a table and waited. Three servers walked by us without acknowledging us so my husband went inside to see if we could just sit anywhere or what the deal was. The, rather terse, girl at the bar said to sit wherever. So we stayed at our table and waited for about 10 minutes. After that we began searching Yelp for other restaurants in the area. 15 minutes after sitting down, and about 2 minutes before we were ready to leave for another place, our server appeared. She gave us menus, took our drink orders and left. We knew what we wanted pretty quickly so when she came back with drinks we seized our opportunity to order. We got the kettle chips and onion dip to start, and then got an order of clams and a 1905 burger with fries to share. Once she took our orders the food came out really quickly! I was surprised that we didn't have to wait for very long, and the food...oh the food!! The kettle chips were fresh and hot! Crispy on the outside, a little soft and hot on the inside with a great crunch. The dip was fresh and complimented the chips perfectly with just the right mix of dill and onion. Shortly after we finished our main meals arrived. We split the clams and chips and then cut the 1905 burger in half. And that burger was FANTASTIC! Fresh, local bun and ground beef covered with a little balasmic, crispy hand-breaded onion rings, old smoked cheddar and some delicious portabello mushrooms. It was cooked perfectly and tasted like heaven on a local bun! I'm still licking my lips... My husband and I both agree on this one - it takes a while to get service, but once we were helped (I believe our sever was Kelsey) they were super friendly, really knowledgeable and the food was freaking fantastic!
