We have been in PEI for 3 days and have mostly had either deep fried (fish and chips etc) or the typical style food (burger, quesadillas) or most family style restaurants. All of the seafood spots we had looked at prior had closed for some reason or another. Our air bnb host recommended this place and it was very tasty seafood, good value and great service! Came here for lunch on a Saturday and really enjoyed! I got the fish tacos, they were pretty good with a generous amount fish. The seafood pasta was also very good, our table also got the chicken parm, the chicken burger, and chicken wings were all good and the prices were super fair. Decent drink selection as well. Service was also super fast with a mostly full dining room! Our server Jeanette was great. Really nice view of the water and fun atmosphere. My only cons were that the floor was a bit dirty with food and crumbs, and a few annoying house flies joined us to eat. Other than that had a great lunch! read more

It's always a great spot. Thru take a reserva which is very helpful. The food any I've sampled is wonderful tasty done just right seafood linguine full of seafood. Restaurant is located right next to a river, the view is quite nice. A group of us visited on a Tuesday for lunch. Waitress was very friendly but it took quite a while for the order to arrive (~30 mins). Food was decent but a bit on the pricey side. A solid 3.5 stars. read more

Came here from the recommendation of a local person we met. We got a dozen oysters to share, I had the fish tacos and my partner had the fish & chips. The fish and chips were average. My fish tacos were very similar! Unfortunately they were a bit dry. However the Caesar I got was very good! I'd give the deck a higher rating but the flies were drove it down a star. Pork special was the table's favorite. I was craving for good and fresh sea food and I was not disappointed at all. The place is located in one of the many scenic spot creeks PEI has to offer. With no reservation we were seated on the patio outside with a creek (ocean) view that wasn't half bad. The staff was very friendly and as a result we felt much welcome. We then ordered mussels (I was craving for mussels) and scallops and they were exquisite (to the point where you dip your bread in the white wine mussels sauce). The place was clean and the atmosphere is in between a warm and cozy seafood restaurant by the sea (seafood has to be fresh here with all fisheries around) and a somewhat classy place. Started with mussels and they were well flavoured. The garlic and aeromatics weren't overpowering. Had the fish tacos as the main which comes with tortilla chips and rice as sides. I was not expecting the chips to be that good! They were lightly peppered but enough to have a small kick to it. Jalapenos on the tacos also spiced things up a notch. Finished the meal with a slice of blueberry cheesecake and mmm was it good. The only two things we didn't enjoy was the somewhat unattentive service we received and the amount of mosquitos on the patio. I counted 5+ bites on my legs and a few on my arms. read more

We stopped here in the afternoon for some drinks and appetizers. The view is great and beer selection decent. We had a few appetizers (lobster dip and wings) which were good. The wings are breaded and the sauce is served on the side. The server was friendly and attentive (Olivia) and the food was delivered quickly.The rest of the menu looked good as well..definitely worth a stop. Excellent food. Friendly service. Beautiful sunny day and we sat out on their deck. Very windy though. We ordered lobster roll (tons of fries) and a lobster and crab Mac n cheese with Caesar salad. Caesar was awesome! Actually, everything was. We were in PEI for a week's vacation and probably drove by this restaurant several times before deciding to heck it out for lunch. At one point our umbrella got knocked over from the wind. No worries. Staff was attentive to take care of the situation. Also had one order of bread pudding for dessert which was also delicious. And even then, one of the burgers we ordered didn't have avocado (when the menu said it did) and the waitress didn't bring it up until we had to ask her. Should you enjoy mediocre pub food that an be attained across the island and is served cold as you sit and wait for service, appetizers and drinks, this is the place for you. As a group of over ten people who frequent PEI establishments we understand and expect some seasonal quirks and inefficiencies, however, this was beyond reason. Upon seating ourselves water was a required ask and it took some time before procuring a staff member to take a drink order and that trend continued through the night, even going as far as having to go to the bar to serve our own drinks on several occasions (the only sustenance we could attain for an extended period of time). The food, when it eventually came over two hours after ordering was cold, inaccurate and incomplete but after waiting for food for so long it was not worth it to complain as help or timeliness would not be in our favour. The pain of dealing with this establishment did not end there as the inabilities to decipher an order on the menu extended to the bills received, further prolonging our stay at this establishment. The Sou'west Bar and Grill should continue to focus on those from away. It is a picturesque setting for a restaurant, however, the food and service would not entice anyone to return. This place has some serious issues. been here a few times over the past two years and the wait time for food is unbelievable. really around 90 plus minutes to receive our food after ordering. food is just shy of mediocre at best. chicken wings are terrible, seafood pasta is not good, nor the scallops. the pan fried paddock is good, but it is hard to screw up this dish. the place could be good, has an excellent patio and good beers on tap. but the main issue is the owner must want to cheap out on kitchen staff as the long wait times are the norm, not the exception as the wait staff would claim. read more
