I wish I could give it -5 stars. Food was great. But a 70 dollar check for sub par service makes no sense. Had to send back our fajitas initially because it wasnt what we ordered. Then they put mushrooms in my sons dish, which he was fine with just picking them off, but it's the point. Got one of our cocktails wrong and when we asked the manager, whom we had to flag down to get our drinks from the bar, he just blew it off instead of checking on it. Again, the 70 dollar check didnt justify the terrible service. First time in a long time I left a sub par tip. It's a Wednesday night so they should have been better staffed for the church crowd. I loved this place! I will stop here everytime I come to Canton! They had hot sauce and an quacamole mixed with sour cream? I don't like quacamole but I thought it was a nice extra touch. I got the beef quesadillas. The beef was tender and very flavorable. It was a Friday night on first Canton Days.We had to wait but it wasn't too bad. I'll first say we came here during the dinner rush. So I knew there would be a wait to be seated and food to be served. Don't be in any hurry when you come around 5:30... Dinner is going to take time here. While waiting we went over to the bar area for a margarita. ( Canton is in a dry county so you have to get a membership. No charge just a process) Save yourself the money...patron top shelf not worth it and the bartenders are painfully slow. Their house margarita was way better for less than half the cost. After being seated we both ordered the "James Dean" plates. Food was good, nothing was outstanding, just average Mexican fair. Wait staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. Ok so our experience was hilariously awful, mostly because we were delirious after a very long, very hot afternoon in the heat of the flea market. My first clue this might be an...um...entertaining experience was the ice cream station. The cone dispensers cause extra cones to fall out of the dispenser when someone takes one. Instead of finding a better solution, they just have a trash can under the cone dispenser. Every time someone takes a cone, a few go in the trash can. We were brought chips and salsa and a white sauce first (when asked about it, the server said "I don't know, it's some kinda sauce"). After about 15 minutes with no drinks, I decided to start the stopwatch. While watching table after table get served, we asked the server at the table next to us if she would help us. I expected an "OMG I'm so sorry, let me get you some drinks!" Nope, we got an "Um I'm not your waitress, I'll go find out who is." Guess who never came back? 12 minutes later we finally got our drinks because another server actually felt sorry for us. The food: no bueno. My enchilada was covered in what appeared to be a Kraft single. My husband's sizzling fajita steak was bloody. And we were charged 49 cents for a limp bowl of lettuce that didn't make it to the table until after we were done eating. We didn't want to have to explain why we didn't want to-go boxes so we just pushed our food around our plates a bit. You may be wondering why the review is 2 rather than 1 star. One of the worst Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. Not only was there a 20+ minute wait to be seated, but then we waited 45 minutes for our food. When it came it was small portions, very bland food and just a horrible plate for the very high prices they charge. Great service and great food! We were in town from south Texas visiting family and ate there tonight. Sage, our waitress, was amazing. Great suggestions and took my special order without a moments hesitation. Checked back often but didn't disturb us. Would highly recommend! The place looked so festive and colorful. Unfortunately that's where the fun ended. Our waitress seemed to have too many tables and was running all over the place and she didn't seem to have much training. I ordered one of their margaritas which are over $10 each. All I could taste was the mix. Nothing else. I told the waitresses that it was not good and she reluctantly took it back then came back and said that the manager said that if I got another one just like it that it would taste the same. I ordered another kind and when it finally came. It tasted pretty much like the first one. I have had Many margaritas and I can tell a good one from a bad one. Not sure they put any alcohol in them. Such a great place to eat! Our server, Cory, was THE Best!! He was very friendly, personable and fun!! After we ordered, he repeated to make sure he had it right! Moving to the area & here in canton for trade days so thought we would try something new. Place wasn't busy at all for a Thursday at 12:30. Food was not bad but not spicy either. Seasoning was mild & we prefer heat rather than mild. Cheese dip was real cheese & not some can or packaged stuff. Would hav been nice if they served extra jalepeno, onion, ect mix on side of plate that can be added to give cheese a extra kick. Husband & I both thought it was a tad overpriced. 13.99 for chicken seems more like a dinner charge. Lunch menu was nothing to brag about. read more

This was my first time at The Jalapeno Tree and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was wonderful and accommodating. I have some food allergies and the server was very nice about my questions. With the salsa and chips, they also serve a green avocado type dip. That was so tasty that I had to use it on parts of my dinner, too. I had a cheese and a chicken enchilada and enjoyed them both. The crowning glory of the meal was the sopapilla. It is shaped like a jalapeño which is so cute. Served with the traditional honey plus this brown cinnamon honey buttery spread. They completely remodeled this building from a previous tenant it seems to me like they're really trying to get their money back with him on the money they charge for everything. Not so good. Probably won't return to this location. A big yellow sign greets you asking for patience because of lowering capacity (due to Covid) in order to maintain standards customers are used to. That sign at this location is laughable. Many employees are just standing around, barely dressed in acceptable attire, let alone dressed in a professional way. The hosts/hostess station at the front door has random cleaning spray bottles, and overflowing trash cans visible giving off anything but a standard of tidiness. Two couples waiting had to get hostess attention to be seated. Out booth benches had food particles clearly visible that we had to wipe off ourselves. Two tacos, a serving of rice, and a small bowl of black beans took way too long to serve. Taco Bell fare was about as good as what we had. The plates were hotter than the food, curiously. The server set the hot plates down with their hands curled up inside her sweater sleeves (ew!). The bill for our meal was really for the booth behind us. read more

For a Mexican restaurant this food was just OK I've had better but it wasn't bad. They had some weird garlic butter sauce to me that didn't go with fajitas so I just sent that to the side. At the end they have an ice cream machine and I actually like ice cream but this was so not worth it. It was watery didn't taste good and I threw it away. The El Dorado fajitas and the Carne Asado were amazing, with just the right amount of kick. The tortilla soup needed more chicken, but the flavor was great. Asked to sit in the bar area where we could watch our truck that had our 2 dogs in it, the Hostess seemed a little put out but after I thanked her a explained when she changed the attitude. So I order the special hot sauce which is really good and it is HOT, the ding dong waitress literally never came back to refill my water or green sauce which is what I was mixing the special hot sauce in, so yes it went to waste, so I suffered while also waiting 10-15 min for a margarita, whew.... placed food order, I described to the T what I wanted which was very simple: one cheese enchilada with green sauce, rice and beans...all my mom ordered was queso and French fries (waitress never asked if my mom wanted a cup or a bowl, but you bet she brought out a huge ass bowl and like 10 French fries....my order was wrong, it had a white sauce over it, so I sent it back cuz I have always gotten the same thing when I go, then it comes back COLD!!!! I was going to try and tolerate it but got halfway and thought NOPE so I sent that back and they MICROWAVED it!!!! Oh lord, so I decided I was DONE, I just pushed my plate to the side along with empty green sauce bowls and finished off my $8.00 margarita which was no specialty, and asked for ticket. Let me start off by saying..this place is huge!! It is so spacious!! I think it's a fairly new location, and was packed! It was a little loud, but with the facility being so big and the decor being bright and fun it meshed well with all of the noise, it wasn't an annoyance! We stopped by this place late one night on our way back to Dallas. The menu had Sooo many options to choose from, I wanted to order like 3 plates just to try it all (luckily I found one in the Dallas area and will for sure go back!). When you first set down, like most Mexican restaurants they serve you with chips and salsa....but at Jalapeño Tree not only do you get chips and amazing salsa you get an even better avocado salsa!! I was hooked in the first 10 minutes of being seated. I ended up narrowing my choice down to The Elvis Presley Plate. This plate was packed full of rice, beans, crunchy beef taco, soft cheese taco ( let me tell you...this had my taste buds wanting an entire pan full of them!!), fajita meat and grilled veggies (with an awesome spicy fajita dip)! To top this hefty plate of Tex Mex goodness you get the choice of an appetizer. I got the queso puffed taco, it was pretty good!! Great food!! Horrible salsa. Lots of side items that are different from beans and rice. Can even be a side salad! Four stars because the salsa is like ketchup with a few spices. The waitress kept touching my shoulder or arm she was older but it bothers me. But find it rude to say something however I find it even ruder for her to be doing that!
