I'm from Dallas, and I love the puffy taco that they serve at Ojeda's. When I saw that Jalapeño Tree had a puffy taco that they offered on their menu, I had my reservations about it- but I tried it. I came into this restaurant expecting greatness due to the size and quality of this restaurant compared to the one in Jacksonville. The sauce was INCONSISTENT and one of the staff members bumped into me while I was eating. The hostess tried to baby trap a good buddy of mine with another guys kid. Another great service experience with pretty good tex-mex food. The do two different types of salsa instead of Queso for the table and the avocado one was delicious. I ordered the papa bear bread bowl and it was interesting but I wish I had gotten it in the regular bowl. Just kind of odd. The fish tacos had quite a bit of pineapple in them but overall I think they were good. Both the kids had a kids meal which we're good portioned and absolutely a fair price. My never ending quest to try and find halfway decent Mexican food in East Texas. This restaurant was another failure. Placed a to go and I literally live 3 minutes away. Went to pick up the food and brought it home immediately. Food was cold. Like so cold that it had been sitting out at the restaurant for maybe an hour cold. I literally arrived at the restaurant a minute after it's in my order was ready. In the less than 10 minutes that it took me to get home. There's no way this food could of gotten that cold!!!! My daughter ordered taquitos and they arrived soggy. It was so bad that the cheese inside my enchiladas was hard because the food was so cold. We arrived in between lunch and dinner. (2:40). 4 other groups arrived at the same time. So we had a wait. I specifically asked for the patio and 10 minutes later....... We were sat in the main dining room. Out of 5 dining spaces- the main dining room looked nothing like the patio. ‍‍ Grr . Our server was Lisa, and she was pretty good. No complaints here. The white queso and shrimp Tacos were yummy- as usual. Add two cocktails and lunch for 2 was $35. All in all . (3.5 stars) Denied patio and an odd flavor too the swirl I ordered. My husband and I brought our 2 year old here for lunch and we had a great time. White queso is surprisingly great. I have a chile relleno that was decent and my husband had beef fajitas - they come with a melted butter that was delicious. Our server Laney was 10/10 and the best part! We will be back and ask for her whenever she's in. She was so attentive, my drink never got below half way without a refill and she checked on us just enough but not too much! Sitting at the bar for New Years Eve dinner- EXCELLENT DRINK SERVICE and glad we can order food here too! (The wait for a table I t he dining area was goi g to be 20-25 min, so we came over tot he bar for a drink and enjoyed the fast service so much, we stayed out for dinner!) Having our usual favs: the James Dean with a few substitutes, the chicken club tacos and a quesadilla. So glad to have found this chain; REALLY hope they make their way down to south Texas (it's an awful long drive from Houston, y'all!) but so long as we're in the area camping, we'll drop by for dinner and drinks! read more

2/16 My wife and I ordered take out Jalapeno Tree Tyler TX. Makes 3 times we arrived home, opened up our package and the order was not correct. This time we ordred beef and shrimp fajitas. Instead we got beef, shrimp, and CHICKEN. But we payed the price for beef and shrimp. Got less of what we wanted and was charged for what we didn't get. It was a cold day and we didn't want to get back into the vehicle and make the trip back to the restaurant. I also ordered a take out margarita. It's made in the kitchen and not the bar. The bar waitress was very busy and it seemed I was getting ingnored while the other patrons we being taken care of with great customer service. I spoke up and the bar waitress acknowldged I was not being attended to and said "I am working on it but I have to go the kitchen." Maybe I should have sat in the barstool chairs for service. So we gave the chicken fajitas to the furbabies they enjoyed it. Does someone know why the inside temperature was breezy and cold? Its difficult to enjoy a meal all you can think about is leaving because its warmer outside. What do we do going forward?? Very disappointing experience. Waited 10 minutes to be greeted at table while servers debated who was going to take care of our table while at least 8-10 servers stood around chatting with manager. Had to get up twice to get our own empty glasses a drinks and tortillas from lack of help. After finally giving order the food came out wrong but was quickly resolved and server was apologetic. My receipt had a link for a survey but when I tried to give feedback the system stated it had already been taken. My guess either the manager or the server took the survey themselves to avoid me being able to leave feedback. Extremely unethical. Stopped by Jalapeno Tree for a late Sunday lunch - we were quoted a short wait, but got in soon than expected. They have a big sign up that they are short staffed and while lunch was maybe a little leisurely, our server was friendly and funny. Chips and salsa were great, but the side of guac we got was a little bland. I tried a combo of crispy tacos, one beef and one chicken. The beef was a little spicy - I loved it, but was happy the kids wanted cheese quesadillas. Came home with leftovers, looking forward to another delicious lunch. read more

I don't dine in at Jalapeno Tree, but I get delivery quite often and they're one of the best places to get Togo food. The packaging is always perfect, the food is fresh and hot, and I have yet to be disappointed getting Togo food from there. The Fajitas with the fajita butter is pretty fantastic. If you're from out of town and looking for some good Togo food I'd highly recommend Togo food from the Jalapeno Tree in Tyler. Best thing about it; It's locally owned and ran. The owner and his director of operations are just great business people. If you go there for lunch ask for Lisa she's a great server. read more

The Jalapeno Tree had my favorite frozen margaritas... until they changed. The last one I ordered was very green and not margarita like at all. Papacita's are much better from their machine. So glad we stopped here! The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated in a Mexican theme (obviously) and the front staff and wait staff are very pleasant and accomodating. The food is delicious! From the chips and salsa to the wonderful "Jack Nicholson" meal I had. The chicken was very tasty, and like the very tender steak on my kabob, it was cooked just right. It was worth the long wait to get in on a Friday evening around 7 pm. Extremely large building, great decor. The chips and salsa were great. They also give you an Avocado cilantro dip that was delicious! Margarita was on point and a great price as well. Cost overall was very comparable to what we pay back home, and portions seemed to be bigger! We ordered ultimate fajitas, taco salad, and Humphrey Bogart. Bogart came with an appetizer, which the waitress forgot to bring out. She did bring it when we asked after our food came. It was the puffed taco. We were eating our meals so by time we tried the puff taco it was soggy. Not that big of a deal though because we were stuffed! Took a lot of good home. Waitress was as sweet as could be. 20 year wedding anniversary today. My wife and I decided on lunch since we have kids in school. We went to the Jalapeno Tree because it's one of our favorite restaurants. We were seated and had to wait more than 10 minutes before my wife caught a waitress in passing to ask her if we were going to be served. That waitress and another waitress snapped to attention and waited on us. That part was good. I always get enchiladas when we go there , I've probably had them nine times at that very restaurant, they're always good. So this time my wife got them too. I thought it was just my tastes at first but there was too much chili powder in the chili sauce. Nope my wife's was ruined too. When the waitress brought us the check we told her about the excessive chili powder in the sauce but our comments and the fact that we'd returned plates with a very noticeable amount of food still on them went entirely ignored. I paid the check, with tip even and we left the restaurant $30 less in my pocket and still hungry. We don't intend to go back. We don't have to, there's probably 10 other Mexican restaurants in town. Smh. All I have to say is the black haired short b*tch working the front as the hostess was: 1. About 3 mins late wondering around the restaurant ignoring us when it was nowhere near busy. 2. Walks up to me and says "ma'am?" Excuse me?! You're late and you say "ma'am??" instead of "how many?" 3. Doesn't even apologize and looks mad at ME like I p*ssed in her cereal. Absolutely the rudest service I've ever encountered. Almost wanted to throw in my two cents but my boyfriend stopped me. Fire that piece of trash please. Never in my life have I been so disrespected for no reason from someone who's job is to be NICE. But this place gets three stars because my waitress made up for it. She was so so sweet.
