The ambiance of the place is amazing! It felt as though we had transported to Mexico. The lunch menu is small but our lunch was fabulous! Loved the guacamole sauce served with the chips while a waited for our food. The fajita quesadilla was fantastic. Crazy Good Mexican Food? Eh, maybe not crazy good but solid. This was the first commercial I saw on TV and was like there's no way that's there real slogan and sure enough at the end of the commercial they pan out and it's actually painted on the freaking building. Anyways I had the beef and chicken fajitas. It's OK, nothing special but definitely not bad nor crazy good. The one thing that was crazy good was the garlic butter sauce that comes with the fajitas. Tuesday night 6:30. We were seated promptly & served chips & dip. We waited for 20 minutes & no server ever looked our way again. Very interesting décor, makes it kind of fun to wander around through the restaurant. Wait staff was perfect, seated us quickly even though we were a large group, then accommodated us quickly again when extras showed up. drinks, apps and entrees were delivered quickly and accurately - especially for a group of 12. Food was great! Everyone cleaned their plates and raved about how good it was. I had my usual - enchiladas, and they were fantastic. This place nails the cheese enchilada, and the beef enchilada is absolutely awesome. Jalapeno Tree is an awesome place for lunch. I will be back here and try dinner sometime, too. read more

Was disappointed with the JT salad. What they call chicken fajita meat, I call burnt dried out chicken. Sent it back and opted for ground taco beef meat. Was better but not good enough to justify $12 for a salad. Very little meat in either one and way too much lettuce. A $12 salad should have a larger portion of meat. I swear what they put on the salad would barely fill a taco! Next time I will just order guacamole and enjoy their green sauce too! read more

Tried this for only the 2nd time since they opened. I now remember why I had omly been once. House marg was as weak as they come. I had to wait 40 minutes for our food. Alas it arrived cold. Well, the food was not very hot. The tamales were weird ... the stuffing was mushy ... nearly like potted meat. The chalupa was made with a very thin tostado shell and did not hold up and became soggy. Also, the rice has zero flavor (minute rice?). But ... the beer was cold!!! Our experience here was terrible. The place was not that busy but we waited for 15 minutes to have someone come take a drink order but they were never to be seen again. I don't k ow if they got sick and just left or could care less about taking care of customers. We walked out and the hostess was kind enough to offer us free drinks on the way out but at this point we were so over this place. Stopped by here while in town for Thanksgiving weekend to get my fix of Tex-Mex before heading back to California, and wasn't too thrilled with what I found. The portions were large, but the overall quality of the food left something to be desired. This would have given them an average rating, but what happened when I tried to order a drink was beyond absurd. I noticed that both my father and I had barely a sip of our beers left so I tried to get the waitress to being another round, knowing that I'd we'd be without anything to drink while we waited. I was told "I'm sorry sir, we're not allowed to bring you another until you finish what you have." I thought she was joking, but amazingly she wasn't. She stood there while we finished our beers and only then would she go put in the order for another around. I thought this was bad, but later spoke to a local friend about it who claimed that if you attempt to get a third drink the waitress is required to read you some long winded disclaimer before they'll bring it to you. Having grown up in the area, I know Tyler is a bit backward and puritanical, but this is absurd even for East Texas. From now on I'll be getting my Tex-Mex fix elsewhere when visiting Tyler. read more

We met up with our amazing friend here when we visited from DFW. We were lucky enough to have Lisa was our amazing waitress and can't wait to come back again. The food is very much Tex-Mex so if you're into spicy food be sure to ask for the hotter salsa because everything is dialed down a bit in heat. I was fairly happy with my Chicken Chimichanga and Hubby was happy with his dinner. It had been a while since we had seen our good friends and we ended up staying until after they closed and they were very polite about our lengthy stay. We will definitely be back when we visit family and friends in Tyler and we will ask for Lisa's section because we know we will be taken care of quickly and with a friendly smile. For Tex-Mex, it's a solid 4 stars. The service has always been good, and the margaritas have a good flavor, and they pour on the heavy side, as far as the Tequila is concerned. Every app, and entrée has been tasty. The fajita beef has a really good flavor, and the portions are generous. Chips, and salsa. Yep, these are pretty good too. The Manager always seems to be checking up on the tables, which is a plus. I visited Jalapeño Tree for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We were sat down into a section that there was not a server covering. We waited about 20 minutes before they figured out we had not been helped. The waitress apologized and two managers even came by and apologized for our wait. I specifically told the waitress I did not want any beans in my food or as a side. When our meals came there was beans in my burrito. The manager fixed my burrito and did not even seem to mind when I asked for him to just pack it to go. My friend and I went last night, sat on the patio, the waiter seemed kinda cool, definitely laid back. We ordered two margaritas which were horrible and salty, took forever to receive those, the water and sweet tea we wanted refills on took over 10 mins to get, as the waiter was walking away he screamed at someone in the parking lot "you better stop messing with my stuff, or Ill bust your windows out!" When our food finally came, it was luke warm, after that, we didnt see our waiter again until it was time to pay which he pretty much scolded me for putting a $100 bill on the table, said it would take at least 10 mins to get change, my friend went to the restroom while he was away getting change and when he came back he saw her phone and starting touching it saying "ha!lets see if she has any nudes in here!". Awful. Every time I've ordered there, the food was wrong or stone cold. The last visit is what made me leave this review. Came inside lugging my newborn in his car seat to order a bowl of queso to go. For my husband at home studying for college. The girls hanging out and chatting at the hostess desk saw me come in struggling. I had already asked them outside if they offered to go, and they mentioned curbside pick up, but I didn't want to make them have to do that. I came inside to make it easier on THEM. Well they told me I couldn't order at the front, go to the bar. While they were doing nothing keep in mind. Okay. I go and wait another five minutes with the bartender there, no guests at the bar, stools propped up. She finally comes over and asks me to cross the bar on the other side of the room to make an order, seeing that I've already been waiting with a huge car seat and baby. I am a Very picky person idk why that's just how I am, but this place I couldn't find one thing wrong AT ALL lol and it caught me by surprise. It was my first time eating at this place and the food was very good the chips and salsa was ok I ordered the chicken fajitas nachos they had ample toppings the chicken was fresh and tender with just the right amount of seasons. The waitress was nice and pleasant she seemed kinda shy but by the end of the meal she had warmed up and came out of her shell she kept checking to make sure everything was ok. The first thing I noticed when I entered the restaurant was that there were more employees then there were customers but I soon learned why. It was a Friday night and the manager was prepared for the rush. He wanted to ensure that customers were waited on promptly and given excellent customer service. Our server was Michael and he was awesome! He greeted us quickly and got our drinks and appetizers out in no time at all. They gave us plenty of chips and salsa/green sauce to last us and it was all fresh and delicious. I had the chicken fajitas and they were fantastic! I would highly recommend them, the fresh made flour tortillas really just bring it all together. My kiddos of course love the free ice cream on our way out the door.
