This visit to The Johnston House for High Tea was an afternoon I had been anticipating for awhile. TJH came highly recommended by several people and it did not disappoint. I booked a 90 minute high tea slot for me, my mom and aunt. What a lovely afternoon! Not only is TJH a beautiful property, the staff is very friendly and attentive as well as the tea selection being extensive. The food is sooo good! Who would know you could get full from small finger sandwiches, quiches, and desserts?! We had such a lovely time and ended it with a tour and some purchases-ornaments and small gingerbread houses for some additional Christmas decor. I can't wait to go back!

The Johnston House is one of my favorite places. The building and interior are beautifully decorated. The staff are always friendly and helpful. We come here occasionally for their tea and small bites, and have always enjoyed. They are doing well with COVID precautions and we felt at ease dining there.

The table settings are beautiful making it a special time.

The service and the food was excellent! We had a small hiccup happen while we were there and they handled it beautifully and with great business sense. We will go back for sure. It's. a great place to have a special day with a friend, daughter, or granddaughters. Enjoy:)

Enjoyed a lovely private tea for my mothers birthday with delectable and savory treats! Highly recommend! Excellent service!

We had my sisters baby shower here. OMG- I was blown away at the service and the sheer Beauty of the tea room. The food was excellent and just enough. The staff at the J House was UNBELIEVABLE. You guys made this a memorable experience for everyone involved. Thank you so much. Class, elegance and fun. Couldn't have asked for more!

Reading the reviews, is it correct to say this tea house uses tea bags as opposed to loose leaf tea?

    Yes that is correct.

This was always a special place for my sister and me growing up, so I couldn't have been happier when she chose to hold my bridal shower here.

It manages to be quaint and inviting, but absolutely stunning at the same time. The food was wonderful, the scones were honestly the best scones I've ever had and they make everything on site! Not to mention the presentation, the tiered serving trays? The different pieces of vintage china settings? The crystal goblets? Omg, take me back to the days of dreaming of having a tea party like this! My inner child is jumping up and down! This venue is small, but the perfect size for a more intimate gathering, my party was 22 people and we fit just fine. The waitress was adept at explaining the tea flavors and describing what was on the serving trays as they were set down, and the owner, Sherry, was a joy to work with. Her friendly and professional demeanor helped assuage the stress of throwing an event, and her contracts were well drafted and easily understood. I can't wait to go back in my own time just for lunch and tea! Once again, I highly recommend this lovely tea room, whether it's for an event, a luncheon or a princess party, I will be telling all of my friends about it.

If you want a unique but traditional afternoon tea experience, you need to visit The Van Horne!…read more Their food is all locally sourced, and I am sure all delicious. I had their potato soup, which was incredible, the steamed broccoli with cheese which was good, and the Tea for Two with a friend. We got to try their day-old strawberry scones and their raspberry scones of the day (which, by the way, I would not have know which was old and which was not if we hadn't been told). Each of us got to choose 3 sandwiches, which I have not experienced before but appreciated, and I enjoyed all 3 of my cucumber sandwiches. We also each got to choose our own quiche slice from the two daily flavors. I really did appreciate how each person could get exactly what they wanted while still having a full tea experience. The nut rolls and Mexican wedding cookies were also yummy and I wish I could have had more. Each of us got to choose our own tea as well, which is pretty typical, although not every place allows that. They had a huge menu to choose from, and the best part is that you can also order any of their teas to go in a tin to make your own at home. They even have some more unique flavors, such as some oolong varieties. The service is a bit slow, but everyone, from the owners to the servers, is so sweet, so you can't really complain. We had Emma as our server and she did not steer us wrong with recommendations we asked for and was able to tell us all about what we were getting. She is such a joy and in a great role. The ambiance is also unique. It feels like you are either in an antique store or old Victorian house. It really does look like an afternoon tea place. You do need a reservation, especially on a weekend. The space isn't huge and they do not have a huge staff, and you can tell they like to make sure they are prepared so it can be a relaxing, special experience, whether having tea or anything else they offer. I would recommend making a trip out here, and this is a definite stop any time I am in the area moving forward!

Our server told us the specials of the day and told us about the tea. The restaurant is decorated so cute. Old fashioned and fun. We ordered the afternoon tea for 2. We had 3 half croissants each half a large scone each and a small piece of quiche. There were a few cookies and fruit on the tier also. We ordered the Chinese Keemun tea. It was delicious. We also had a cup of potato soup as a starter. The lovely owner came over to check in. She is so sweet. We will definitely be returning for another meal.
