I'll be blunt -- this place was a very disappointing first impression. I showed up ready to go in, clearly 21 with a valid ID, but was refused entry just because my license was vertical. No explanation, no attempt to understand, no verification beyond the orientation of my ID. Meanwhile, my friend with a horizontal ID was allowed in with no problem. It didn't make any sense and felt arbitrary and unfair. What frustrated me most wasn't even being denied -- it was that they couldn't be bothered to explain why. If you're going to enforce a rule that literally turns people away, the least you could do is communicate what that rule actually is. Instead, I was just left standing there confused and bounced. Service wasn't helpful or accommodating in this situation, and it definitely didn't feel welcoming. If your policy is going to discriminate based on the format of someone's ID rather than their age, that's something customers deserve to know before they make the trip. I get that venues need to check ages, but what happened here felt bureaucratic and unnecessary. Until they explain or fix this policy, I won't be coming back. The Joint is truly the last resort dispensary in Tacoma. I want to begin by saying the staff are friendly and clearly work hard. I have never had any issues in terms of nice service However, the selection of products is consistently underwhelming. A lackluster of brands on shelves and an online inventory that never seems to match what the store has in stock -- almost every online order I have come in for, I have been told the item I ordered isn't available. I also think the joint has some of the worst deals out of tacoma dispensaries, nor do they promote their deals as well as other places. overall it's a great place to talk to nice workers, not buy weed. read more

Just today I went to the Tacoma website and selected 4 different products that the website had in stock. Of the 4 choices I selected from the website, only 1 was in stock. I decided to visit The Joint after seeing some of their products and prices through Leafly, as they were RIDICULOUSLY great prices compared to the other shop I frequent. I entered the building making sure to have my ID in hand, expecting to be carded, but when I walked in, it looked like all the staff were behind the counters and there was a man and a product vendor standing to the side deep in discussion. Someone behind the counter motioned me over, and as I get up and start talking to her to tell her what I'm looking for, someone starts yelling from behind me saying "MAAM I HAVE TO CHECK YOUR ID" and was extremely aggressive about it. It was the same man who had been talking with the vendor, and after reading another review on Yelp, it sounds like the door guy makes a habit of not paying attention and then aggressively confronting customers. Extremely off-putting and unprofessional, dispensary or not. After getting that sorted out, I was explaining I was looking for specific strains that were listed through leafly at the great prices, and several of the bud tenders just stared at me like I had grown a second head, telling me they would NEVER sell flower for that price, yadda yadda. After realizing it was pointless to debate it, I tried to just buy an eighth, and all 4 strains I asked for, no one could find. When they were offering alternatives and I would ask questions about the strain, the only thing they could tell me was whether it was an indica or sativa. I realize that dispensaries are a different energy and environment than an average store, but this experience was terrible. Ultimately it's a business, it has customers, and customers don't want to pay to leave a business feeling empty-handed and pissed. I will continue driving out of my way to go to the shop where the online menu isn't up for debate, and they seem to have quite a bit more professionalism. The one good thing I will say is that they have an impressive selection of edibles, including products I've never seen like potato chips and sugar packets. I'm sure I could find those somewhere else, though. (I've attached the screenshot from their menu to prove I didn't imagine the obscenely good prices. I do not recommend this shop. Their online ordering is not accurate, for example I somehow was able to order product they dont even carry. The one other time I had tried to place an order I never got confirmation that it was received or anything, only got an email the next day saying it was rejected. Not to mention their prices are extremely high compared to other shops in the area. Also they do not at all follow proper mask guidelines. Today and the last time I was in the shop there were employees on the floor with no masks. The manager did try to apologize and expressed he had been recently tested and was negative - however it doesnt mean one cant become a carrier after they were tested. This is probably the first and only business I have been to that didnt adhere to the mask mandate and the shop is EXTREMELY small. I kept being made to walk by people rather than the worker bring the product to me. Dont waste your time or money here, plenty of other well priced and responsible shops you can support. read more

I've been hearing about this place from friends for a few months now, and decided to check it out for myself last night. Walking in, I was 4-5 in line and expected to be there for a while but was surprised to find myself at the counter within minutes. The budtender I got the chance to work with was awesome. Friendly (as they all seemed to be), and knowledgeable. I ended up walking out with a handful of prerolls that he had recommended instead of what I'd gone in for, along with a smaller number on the receipt than expected, and was not disappointed. 10/10 great experience, will definitely go back. read more

Found it a little unprofessional when I stopped in for a quick purchase. I had a non-vertical issue with my ID, it's bent in awkward angle, but never prevented me from purchasing a number of times here. That is not the unprofessionalism part of the matter, but when you take my state ID and show your customers and ask for their input if I should be allowed to purchase, that makes it a terrible experience. Went there today. Normally they're pretty ok. Today I got the most underwhelming budtender in all my life. No overstatement, this chick was sidetracked from the second I went to bat. No 'excuse me', no indication that I had any fraction of her attention. I begin to speak again, and once more she turns and talks to her coworker. I asked her if she was done. I felt a little guilty for sounding like my father, but that guilt faded quickly as I began to suspect she had been more than sampling the merchandise. I asked her more questions.
