The whiting was seasoned and delicate. The shrimp was tasty but tough, just a bit too overcooked. My friend has the oxtails, black eyed peas and cabbage. He couldn't stop raving about sides but took issue with the oxtails, like the shrimp they were tasty, BUT TOUGH. Not tender at all. Was craving fish today so I dec I decided to order from this establishment today to support a local business, but the experience was deeply disappointing. I ordered three fish dinners; not only were the portions incredibly small--one piece wasn't even half a fillet--but the fish was old and inedible. The texture was so hard it was clear the food had either been sitting out for a long time or was refried. Beyond the food, the service was unacceptable. My drink was missing, and when I called to resolve it, I was put on hold five separate times, waiting over 10 minutes each time. When I finally spoke to a host, she hung up on me mid-explanation. Subsequent calls went straight to an 'unavailable' recording. As a culinary student, I make it a point to support Black-owned businesses, but great food must be matched by great hospitality. There was zero customer service or problem-solving here. This experience has only motivated me more to ensure that when I open my own doors, my guests receive amazing food paired with the high level of service they deserve. We got some whiting, fries and yellow cake w/chocolate icing. The 3 pieces of whiting were small and just tasted ok. The fries were bland, pale and not worth the money. As I was eating it, I was wondering if the fries were just microwaved and not fried in grease. Or maybe they were baked? My biggest issue was the chocolate cake. It tasted like bad store bought cake mix and store bought icing that was thinned out. I've made many of a cake from box mix and container of icing so I'm not judging the fact it tastes like a box mix. Fish fry special is now sold as kids Happy Meal, because one regular meal split into two. It supposed to come with two fried catfish but received one that was cut up into two small separate parts that in no way could pass as two separate sized fish. Also, the two sides you can select has been reduced to where you receive a spoon full of what you select. I found Juke Joint with Uber Eats' Deals for Black Owned Businesses. It took over two hours for my food to arrive. I ordered at 7, and at 9 I received a call that they were still waiting for the Uber driver. I've never had this experience with Uber Eats. Seeing that there's so many similar complaints, it seems that this was more likely the fault of the restaurant. The Mac & Cheese I ordered didn't even come! Uber Eats was able to refund me for this. Just visited this resturant and I must say it's a nice establishment. I placed my order by phone for pick up. The lady over the phone that took my order told me 10 to 15 mins and my order will be ready. We even discussed the difference in price if I paid in cash or card. When I got to the resturant, the lady that took my order never put in my order. The guy at the counter could see my order but the lady never placed the order with the kitchen. The second time was today 11/18/2022, the fish was good as usual but the macaroni and cheese almost made me throw up , the turkey wings were stiff and COLD. and i had to wait AGAIN another HOUR for my food. From the reviews you would think that this is a bad place but it's actually a nice decent low key Juke joint. I had the shrimp and grits and it was pretty decent I've had better but it was nice. Good amount of shrimp I would prefer actual silverware spoon instead of plastic with silverware fork and with the corn bread put some butter on the top. There's no private parking. Another negative for me is an all cash establishment. It's 2020 most people don't carry cash I feel they should accept cards even if there's a minimum or maybe Apple Pay. Just make sure you take cash since they don't accept cards and good luck with finding parking since it's in a mostly residential area but you will not be disappointed with the shrimps, Mac and cheese, corn bread and sweet potatoes.
