Went to lunch here yesterday. I love Mediterranean food but have a hard time choosing what to order. We were greeted promptly and given menus. My friends ordered a chicken wrap with chutney and fries. I wanted to try a lot of different things so I went with the kabob grill for one. The waitress was very friendly but the wait for our lunch was rather long. It was 30 minutes for our food and only 1 other couple was in the place and I didn't see many to go orders. When the food did come out (mine 10 minutes before my friends) so they technically waited 40 minutes it was delicious. I had enough to take home half of the platter for my husbands dinner.The only other knock was the music was loud and irritating. I would come back but probably get take out. read more

I've been here and enjoyed the food very much but after seeing all the pictures of smoothies I know I had to come back soon. The smoothies are $12 but so worth it! There is so much fruit in this drink, and all the fruit looked beautiful. A friend and I stopped in after driving by the Kabob House for months. It was quiet but clean. We started with hummus which was impeccable, I would eat it with a spoon every day. I have yet to try the sit down experience and dine in here. However, after a great experience getting some smoothies to go it is definitely on my list. I thought the smoothies were decently priced for the portion you get. The man making my smoothies made sure to check in with me and have me taste everything as he made it so it was to my liking. This place has come along way since its humble and somewhat rocky openings. I don't think the original owners were prepared to get as swamped as they did on their soft opening. Things were rocky, but just like everyone's favorite superhero action movie it had a great bounce back. Original the restaurant was had a lot more tables and chairs for seating, which now has been reduced and a lot more accommodating. Lovely middle eastern decor adorn the walls, and immediately since I last came in they've completely redone the entrance with a delicious juice bar! Finally to the best parts, the amazing and tantalizing selection of food. They have some of my favorite Arabic and Mediterranean dishes here. Everything from the super delicious and very well spiced Fallafel, to the fantastic Kufta, and even more so my top favorite, their chicken Shawerma. I've also tried their Kibbeh, and their beef Arrayes, and all of them are fantastic. Everything here has the perfect amount of spices and aromatic herbs in every bite, the perfect balance of flavorful but not overpowering. The Kibbeh has the perfect balance of flavors and spice in a lightly almost corn bread like breading, it's somewhat hard to describe but it is delicious. The Beef arrayes are fantastic, served piping hot with a somewhat crunchy flaky exterior filled with steamy hot and juice spiced beef. It is my new favorite appetizer, served on a plate garnished with house made pickled vegetables, which are also to die for. Lastly my thoughts and comments on the Shawerma platters. I can't stop eating these once I dig in they're so good. A nice crunchy fresh shredded lettuce and tomato salad sit beside a bed of the most heavenly yellow rice cooked to perfection. And the meat of choice is always fall apart tender juicy and covered in the best of spices and a decadent and savory white sauce. All in all I cannot recommend this place enough, it definitely scratches my middle eastern itch very well! I'm so glad this place moved in and was able to stick. It is a very nice addition cuisine wise to the town of Liverpool. And the staff, I can't believe I almost forgot, they're always very cordial and nice. read more

We really enjoyed our food, everything was well made, perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned. We got the falafels as our appetizers and shared a tahini salad. We always fear dry falafels and fear not, they were delicious! The tahini salad was a standout in taste and freshness, highly recommend! Our mains were the lamb kabobs and lamb gyro platter. Lamb was perfection. Choose your favorite sauce to your personal liking. We were impressed and happy with the veggies, really a shredded salad, which was very fresh with a nice light dressing. The pita that came with the kabobs was phenomenal and I wish it came with more. I loved the rice and they gave you a ton of it which my taste buds were grateful for! My husband and I waited patiently for this place to open as we live down the street and passed by it all the time! When we finally saw the open signs out front, we made plans to order! We waited a week or so for the new business to work out their kinks and then ordered on a busy Friday night! Let me first say, this restaurant is on the corner of a very congested area of Liverpool, and traffic is nuts! There is limited parking, but luckily I found a spot in front and ran right in to grab my takeout. I was greeted by the staff and they had our meals all packaged and ready to go! My eyes were instantly drawn to the dessert case on my way out, so I'll definitely need to grab something from there next time! The food was pretty standard Greek food. The hummus was smooth and the warm pita complimented it well. I got the chicken schwarma bowl and my husband had the regular gyro bowl. The sauces that they put on them added a nice flavor! YUM. Kabob House...you have my heart. Stopped here for a work lunch on our way back to Albany and everything was so flavorful. The service was great and very friendly. The waiter kindly put up with our many extra sauce requests. I am a falafel snob and theirs is delicious, with the perfect crunch on the outside and a yummy tahini sauce to complement it. The mixed grill platter was so good. The sauces made it, but even just the rice on its own was perfectly cooked and the meat was full of flavor. The other diners said that they were good. The grape leaves were fillled with vegetables and rice. She enjoyed them. One reviewer said the hummus needed more spice. Maybe a roasted pepper chopped up in it as well. It was kind of bland. The beef swarma was good. Beef was tasty and tender. A sort of curry or tumeric spice infusion. The lamb was tasty and tender as well. The rice was not as good as Four Guys version of this dish. More flavor there. Also Four Guys gives you more white sauce too. It was a decent dish though. For appetizers we had babaghanough, humus, salad with pita . We shared a platter with basmati rice , grilled keftah kebab , lamb chops, grilled tomatoes, peppers with separate sauces . The babaghanoufh was smoky ,. The lamb chops were well seasoned as well as the kefta kebabs . They paired well with the falafels , basmati rice and grilled tomatoes and peppers we ordered that platter for five. I always knew this place was legit, but just never made it out here until recently. The thing that actually tipped the scales was reading a post by Christian Felix raving about the Kunefah. I don't really follow the food scene at a personal level, but accidentally became a huge fan of his. On the first trip, we were just looking for lunch. We just needed to supplement the leftovers we had at home, so we grabbed a Philly Cheesesteak and tried the Kunefah. In recent years we've learned to trust Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurants with cheesesteaks. They're already in the business of slinging quality, tender, well seasoned meat, so you're already well above the ground floor of frozen boxed philly meat. Here, we got exactly what we signed up for. Not really top tier, but way further from bottom tier with the thinly shaved, tender meat and the wicked soft bread. It ate like a normal sub, but one you'd go out of your way to get. The Kunefah was also the brand new and unique experience we had signed up for. Kind of hard to explain the experience, but imagine a wet but somewhat bready pastry version of baklava. Oh yeah, but there's cheese! And not just a cream cheese filling like in a cheese danish, but real, stretchy, cheesy cheese. Also, this was a great reminder that way more things need to come with rose water. We were passing by a few weeks later and figured we'd go for some full on food this time around. We went right down the center lane and ordered two combo platters. For the first time ever, we didn't order a side of pitas, and then we regretted it when nothing came with them. We also ordered a few side sauces just to see what was what, and seriously regretted not ordering a bucket of the house hot sauce. The white sauce and medi sauce were just normal - something to moisten up those platters any way we can. The hot sauce we tried to use sparingly because it took the whole platter by the reigns with just a small dab. I'm not kidding, I think I'd order at least four just for my next platter. It's reasonably spicy and tastes exactly the way it looks. Not too sweet or acidic, just a blast of spot on smashed pepper taste. The platters themselves were pretty standard bowl/platter fare, but 10/10. We labored over some sort of additional side to get, and ended up getting meat arrayes. These were only seen on the website menu, and we almost missed them looking through the Google/Grub Hub menus. They kind of reminded me of pides, and I think we liked them more since we didn't have a lot of pitas for the platters. Using them as pitas felt like a waste, but they weren't quite ready to solo either. I definitely think we should have gotten cheese, because I feel like it would have gone further than the minced meat did. Oh, and speaking of brand new experiences. I figured I'd throw in an Arabic Coffee, with absolutely no idea what that meant. I love all things coffee, and I absolutely love Greek/Turkish coffee, so this was exciting. When we came back to the car, I realized I never got the coffee, so I went back in. Turns out it was in there, just in the 2-3 oz dipping cup I assumed was one of the sauces. I opened it up, and it's thick, like viscous thick. I love thick coffee, and up to this point, I still wasn't shook. Not until I smelled it. I'm pretty sure my girlfriend got a contact high just from sitting next to me. I'm sure there's a dozen tastes I don't have the wherewithal to identify, but front and center is freight train of clove. Hard, potent clove. Holy crap. There's also kind of a coffee taste in there too I think. It felt more like I was dosing when I sipped, or drank, or ate this stuff. I nursed it for a good ten minutes on the drive home, bracing myself for each sip until eventually it was just sludge. I didn't hate it, but if there's a specific way you're supposed to do this I definitely didn't do it that way. Super glad I tried it, but no reason for me to do that again. There's still a dozen things I need to try here, and I have high expectations for all of them. This place is clearly the real deal, and I wish I didn't wait so long before coming here for the first time. read more

Everyone I try a Middle Eastern restaurant I have to try all the staples first to determine if I will return a second time: -Grapeleaves -Hummus -Kibbeh -Baklava Then I try a dish or two. In this case the chicken schwarma wrap and the mixed grill combo. I was really impressed with the hummus so it was off to a good start. The restaurant has several sauces that don't automatically come with dishes. Since this was my first visit the gentleman gave me one of every sauce he had so I would know what I would like to get next time! I liked their "white sauce" the best. What a great idea and very accommodating! I got take out and by the time I got home I saw they forgot to pack my baklava. The gentleman offered to drop off later in the evening. Now this is a restaurant that doesn't deliver unless through a third party so he drove the 12 minutes after he got out of work. This place is really busy with walk-ins and takeouts. Hard to believe they have only recently opened and have become so popular. The food is good, though portions are small. They seem to need time to train their very young staff. It took a while to be attended to after being seated. Hen, We had to ask for menus, silverware, pita bread that was supposed to accompany our food, as well as the correct soda. The server was lovely, but very green. Today, I was very hungry and decided to visit this restaurant because I really like the food. To my surprise, after I paid for my food the price was about a $2 difference. The owner or staff member did explain that their prices changed and that they are waiting on the new menus. Howeverrr, if someone is ordering from the old menu, it's always helpful to notify them at once. So I ordered my food and specifically pointed at the diced chicken on the skews and still got the wrong order. It was cold outside and was too tired to drive back to the restaurant. Howeverrr, I did called the restaurant and informed them of their error. The same staff member said to try it and let him know how it tastes. So I did because I was hungry but was more mad that my order was wrong after I paid $19.09 for a small container of food that was not worth the price or portion. Long story short, the chicken was ground chicken with other spices formed into a hotdog looking shape. I tried it, and did not finish it because it was like I was eating a stuffed hotdog instead of chicken. To make matters worse, this was supposed to be my Sunday dinner that went to waste. I was so annoyed that I called back the restaurant and spoke to the same person about my meal experience. I was then told to come back again and that he will take care of me, but that's the thing, I have no intentions of going back there anytime soon. What a waste of my gas and appetite. So first the bad: this place doesn't feel like it was quite ready to open. I tried to call in a to go order a few times but no one answered the phone. When I arrived, the staff were arguing, they were short on servers, there were issues with the computer system, the mens bathroom was full of construction equipment and unusable, and I waited an inexcusably long time for my takeout. All in all, a pretty chaotic experience to say the least. This is probably what generated the early one star reviews on Google. Be patient with them. It's opening week. The food is the real deal. I've spent a lot of time in the Middle East and I was quite happy with my chicken Schwarma meal. The desserts look delicious too. We need more restaurants like this in Syracuse. What we don't need are Red Lobsters, Olive Gardens, etc. This place deserves your patience and patronage. The growing pains mentioned above will improve over time. If you're not a patient person, give them a few weeks and then try it. I think you'll be impressed. read more
