The playground was a dream: tons of activities to choose from and only 1-2 other families. My review is mainly about the playground but the park was gorgeous, tons of space to run and play, covered picnic areas, and tons of parking. (There is a porta potty which was really the only dim spot for me.) The Kalakupua Playground is really well-taken care of by the neighborhood. Hardly any grafitti, only one tiny area is broken (but it's taped off), and it's very safe - as the entire ground is covered in cut up pieces of tires. There are swing sets on both sides of the playground - and safe toddler swing sets, too. Climbing choices galore, many slides to choose from, a great parkour for kids area, and even a tiered sitting area for parents to wait while their children roam free in the safe, fence-surrounded playground. Truly, truly a gem if you are looking for a playground for your kids. I can't believe we stumbled on it. But we all left so happy: as parents it was nice to let them roam free, my 1-year old daughter knocked out for her nap, and our 6-year old yelled as we were leaving, "Mom, that's a 5-star playground!" Haha. Covered playground? Say what? Definitely a must, especially for the kiddos! So nice to have that reprieve from the sun, especially in Kihei where it can get hot hot hot. The playground equipment is great and offers a variety of climbing, jumping, and sliding. Probably best suited for kids 2 1/2 and older. Just wish they had one more big slide for the older kids. The playground flooring is also a little squishy so to speak and has a little bit of 'give' to soften the landing from jumps or falls. There were a lot of children and people in general, but the covered area is large and everyone is able to socially distance safely. Aside from the playground, there are also soccer /softball fields, a gymnasium (call to reserve the space), lots of open grassy areas, and ample parking to accommodate everyone. Will definitely have to visit again in the future.

Hence, one of the unique features of their utopian water playground is a water elevator, touted back then as "the world's only". Located on the pool's lowest level, a mysterious stainless steel door is built into the manmade rock feature, visible halfway out of the water. The attendant opens said door to reveal an open-air chamber, with a circular platform and tube wrapped in thick rope which is what you sit on for the ride. About 6-8 people can ride at once depending on size. The door closes, followed by a waterfall that pours into the chamber from above, in turn lifting the tube to the top of the chamber. This brings you to the upper most level of the tiered pools where you can begin your journey to the bottom again via several slides, rapids and lazy river. OVERALL: Still the most fun hotel pool on Maui.

The playground is super clean and fun, and there's plenty of grass for picnics or just relaxing. We love coming here as a family, whether it's for a quick play session or to spend the whole afternoon. There aren't too many people, which is a nice change from the busier parks. And the view? So beautiful, especially on a clear day! It's definitely a bit out of the way, but we don't mind the drive, it's always worth it.

We saw that thoa beach had a little a barrier wall so that we could at least take a dip. Be warned, there are lots of rocks and coral even within the barrier. I, along with others, were throwing the rocks out of the way to avoid any potential scrapes or cuts. The current was also very strong, but I believe that was because the waves were extremely large that day. I can also see this spot being a lovely snorkel place beyond the barrier when the waves are calm. There is a large grassy area and a playground for kids nearby. There is also tables and grills that I saw some locals enjoying and having a little party.

Mayor hannibal tavares center has been around for over 10 years. If you have a reception in the community center it could hold a few hundred people. With many parking stalls. Right now it's going they a renovation so I'm excited what it'll look like when it's finished. So be prepared because the hall and the d.m.v. will be closed until next year. So no parties and no renewing your license here until next year.. booooo!

There's a great big community meeting room, and the kitchen, as well as smaller meeting rooms all on the upper floor. Downstairs are various services including the department of motor vehicles upcountry office. What a great place to have a party for a wedding or graduation and invite everybody you know. There are beautiful views of the ocean and central valley, including Molokai and the west Maui Mountains. Step out on the covered lanai to get some fresh air and enjoy the views. The vast central space has an open beam ceiling making for great acoustics. This is a real highlight of the community in Pukalani.

So much to climb and run through and explore, kept them busy for a couple hours and tired them out for an easy car ride home.
