Sadly disappointed with this local hole in the wall restaurant! I'll start off with absolutely praising the service. Our server and cook was incredibly kind and friendly. We actually ran into her again at a farmer's market, so it's clearly a staple in the community for Caribbean food. For my visit, I was disappointed with the options and underwhelmed with everything other than our jerk chicken. That was cooked to fall off the bone! The menu could have been improved in describing each dish - I ordered fried plantains expecting sweet instead of tostones style. No entree options for vegetarians although the online menu mentioned jerk tofu. Overall, I had hopes for more. read more

I am writing this review in between bites because it was too amazing not to share. First of all Karlina who welcomed me in was such a sweet and beautiful soul! I told her about how I loved a Jamaican kale salad and she gave me something she had that was similar after I had already paid. The Jamaican beef stew is incredible, combined with the rice, it was the perfect bite. The potato salad mix was so fresh and the exact flavor I was looking for! The portion sizes are large and I could have easily split with someone (but I am glad I'll have leftovers). I will be back. read more

Three of us had an awesome dinner this evening at The Karibbean's newer West Lebanon, NH location. The fried plantains and fish fritters went so fast that we realized we had forgotten to take pictures. We got pictures of the braised short rib, the jerk chicken, and the oxtail. I was excited to pick up my take out. Flavor is on point. We had the oxtail, jerk chicken, and curry chicken. I was extremely dissapointed in the portion for the proteins. Wow very small. Plenty of rice and beans w right amount of slaw. Literally it was 2 small oxtail and 2 small chicken legs per each chicken dish. For the price, you def should get more meat vs more bones. The jerk chicken had mild spice but a nice smokey flavor. If you are really hungry this will not hit the spot unless you just want to fill up on rice and beans. This was incredible. My husband and I came here for lunch today in their newly opened location in West Lebanon. He ordered the Creole Chicken, and I ordered the steamed fish. WOWZERS. My fish was incredibly tender, super flavourful and just the right amount of spice and seasoning, served with fresh okra, their famous beans and rice, and super sweet, fresh coleslaw. It was one of the best meals I've ever had. His Creole Chicken was outstanding. Tender, full of flavour, and with the beans and rice and coleslaw. This is my probably favorite spot in the upper valley. Good portion sizes of super flavorful food that is satisfying but not too rich. I can't say enough good things about it. I found this gem at the Hanover Holiday market and have been back every few weeks since! We've had most of the dishes and my favorites are the curry chicken and jerk pork. There's a ton of flavor and healthy portions. The meat falls right off the bone. Beware there are bones in the dishes (it's not always obvious) but it's so authentic and homemade, which I appreciate. The only thing I have noticed is that if the rice and beans have been sitting too long the beans get very hard and unpleasant, but I can live with that. The food here is easily some of the most delicious in Lebanon! The meat is so tender, it falls right off the bone, and the spices are perfect. I called asking if the jerk pork was gluten-free, and even though the owner said yes, she went to extra lengths to ensure there would be no cross-contamination. Called earlier in the day for a dinner reservation. We figured it must be a smaller place, because they took our orders over the phone after we placed the reservation. The food was ready not long after we arrived at the restaurant, and each dish was absolutely stellar. The jerk pork was so tender, and perfectly charred. I am so glad this family-run operation decided to open a restaurant so that I could get this food all year around (and not just during farmer's market during summertime). The food here is unreal. Don't let the no frills nature of the restaurant fool you...that's how you know it's good. We have had a few different things from here but the jerk pork was a real standout. A little seasoned rice and Jamaican style slaw on the side and it's out of the park. Also really enjoyed the creole chicken, jerk chicken and curry chicken as well. I drive by this place every day and noticed their karibbean flag out front and wanted to give it a try. It was super convenient ordering online and fast, easy to pick up on the way home from work. A terrific new-to-us gem in the Upper Valley. We ordered takeout to help brighten up mud season, getting nearly one of everything on the menu. The jerk meats are the tastiest, while the curry and stewed meats were the juiciest and most succulent. Oxtail obviously doesn't have much meat on it, but was an indulgent treat. The Steamed Fish is not at all bland like it sounds--it was tender and nicely spiced. The pumpkin soup is not creamy but more like a vegetable broth with plenty of pumpkin, vegs, and spices. Gotta get the goat so you can say you ate goat. Heat of dishes was mildly spicy and not at all overwhelming. The Jamaican patties were a bit dry, but plenty of sauce in the other dishes to compensate. Definitely try the canned Soursop Juice for a tropical treat. The bottled ginger beer was a bit too sugary for me. My only suggestion for the menu would be some options for side dishes besides rice and beans. While delicious, we had a lot of rice and beans to eat with our 6 meal dishes! Service was fast and friendly. Can't wait until we are back to dining in person as the vibe inside is super eclectic with authentic Haitian art on display and I think for sale. read more
