    Veggie patty, pumpkin soup
    Domonique G.

What a nice Caribbean touch in New Hampshire. I was visiting nearby Woodstock, VT. New Hampshire was 20 minutes away so I said why not have dinner in a different state. I found this place online and it did not disappoint. I got the veggie patty and escovitch fish. The fish of the day was branzino. My friend got pumpkin soup and cod fritters. The food was good (I sampled my friend's dishes as well) and the service was great. Thanks, Balvin!

Best food in the area. So fucking fire. Meat fall right off the bone and everything is so flavorful.

The owner is delightful, and came out to tell us he picked the largest fish for us because we were sharing a single meal. The wait was staff friendly and attentive. The meze platter was delish, especially the salsa. I even liked the grape leaves, which I usually will not eat. I also enjoyed the coconut mojito, though thought it a little pricey. The only disappointment for me was the baklava, which was soft and the walnuts ground too fine for my personal taste.

We visited the cafe and the home goods store so we had to round out the trifecta and come to Tuckerbox for dinner. It was a random Tuesday and I was pleased to see that it was packed! Luckily we scored a nice table outside and got to enjoy the bustling WRJ street scene as we dined. We started with some cold mezze, babaganoush and ezme. I liked both but the ezme could have been a little spicier. The lavash (which you need to order separately) was very good and the perfect vehicle for delivering the mezzes to your mouth. For an entree, we split a beyti, which is an adana kebab wrapped in lavash. My Turkish husband said it was okay...I liked it all right as well. The adana was good but the lavash was underdone and very doughy. It reminded me of undercooked crescent rolls from Pillsbury. The lavash we had with our appetizers was perfect so this was a little odd. Additionally, although the beyti was served with a yogurt, there is often a tomato sauce on top of the dough and there wasn't any tomato sauce on the dish. I get that people do things differently, but I think a tomato sauce would have added some flavor and acidity to the dish. It was fine but I think the traditional tomato sauce would have kicked it up a notch. They were out of kunefe so we passed on dessert. I think this is a good place and I liked the vibe and the service. Would definitely come back but would probably try a different dish. We will still commit to supporting Turkish businesses wherever we find them and I was happy to see so many people here enjoying their meals.

The counter server was kind enough to explain different menu items. We ordered a breakfast pide and a ground lamb pide. I got an iced mocha latte, one companion had a hot spiced mocha latte, and another companion had an iced latte with vanilla, I believe. The iced mocha was very good. The food took a bit of time but it was because it needed to cook in the wood fired oven. The ground lamb pide was full of spices and was very flavourful. It was tasty but it got a bit overwhelming when I was eating it alone. My friend offered to share some of her breakfast pide. I am not an egg person but upon the first few bites, I got quite emotional. It immediately made me think of a meal my late grandmother used to make. It was both a bit sad and wonderful as she had passed within a few months of me coming to Cappadocia and the memory associated with food gave me comfort. I'd recommend trying Cappadocia. It's a beautifully decorated space with some seating, it is a nice way to eat something a bit different from most of the food in the area and the food is very good.

There was an American dude working the counter and I'll say he didn't exhibit what I would consider traditional Turkish hospitality. There is a screen to order from right by the door when you walk it and I guess he wants you to order from that because he was more effective than Susanna Hoffs in a Bangles video at avoiding direct eye contact. I would say if the tablet is the ordering device of choice they should put it in front of the counter rather than by the door where it's behind you. We finally figured it out and were able to order on the tablet but it was disheartening to watch a woman come in after us and stand forlornly by the counter hoping that the guy would notice her. He was great at stacking dishes, wiping down counters, etc and doing everything but acknowledging the human standing five feet from him. Anyway, just as she was about to leave he said hello and then took the order in the traditional way. The tea was good and the mood was nice and the pastries looked amazing. This could have been four or five stars with personal service.

After what seems like countless stops with kid and older parents in tow on this particular trip, I was so happy to find a calm and clean place to take a break. This is a smaller Starbucks but still felt spacious. It's very close to highway 89 and a couple of malls. It was a well needed caffeine boost, toddler stretch, and bathroom break. Everything was quite clean. There were a couple long tables and smaller round ones with people reading or working on laptops on a Sunday evening. The drinks were up to snuff as what would be considered usual for Starbucks. But the real gems were the staff. I probably spoke to every person there as I made multiple food and drink orders for various family members, and the staff members answered every question with a smile. They were even happy to provide two free cups of hot water for my non-tea drinking parents, something that staff at other locations have rolled their eyes at. (I will note that we ordered plenty of other drinks and food to make up for the waters.) They were busy with the drive through as well, but we're super friendly and didn't make us or my kid feel like a nuisance. Both gender-neutral bathrooms are large and have changing tables. They could have been a bit cleaner, but still were pretty good for a commuter/traveler-heavy location. One day again I'll be able to breeze in and out of a road trip stop in five minutes or less... one day when there are no more diapers ha. But until then, I hope I'll find other stops like this one that make the car rides that much easier.
