My son turned 8 years old today and when we asked him last week where he wanted to go, he said The Keg! because it was his favorite restaurant. We made reservations for 8, which included some grandparents and his 3 year old brother. From the moment we were seated we were treated like absolute gold. Our server Emily was extremely friendly, inviting, caring, funny, and any other adjective you can think of to describe a wonderful human being. Her service was amazing, we never waited or needed for anything, she was always 2 steps ahead. Ryan, the kitchen manager heard that our son loved The Keg and personally came out to greet him. Not only did he make our son feel like a million bucks, but he personally made him the worlds most amazing brownie sundae (big enough for a football team) to celebrate his birthday. When I ordered my Teriyaki sirloin, Emily made some recommendations including having it cooked Chicago style. I said it sounded great and we talked about how their Teriyaki had changed in the last year. When Ryan heard that I preferred the previous version, he came and talked to me and personally made me a custom sauce that was beyond amazing. The entire experience, from being seated right up to the last bite of brownie, was perfect. My wife and I regularly go to this location for our "date nights" and always have the most amazing experience. This particular evening was unlike any other. My first time eating at a Keg restaurant. This was an experience worth repeating again and again. I had the mushroom and onion Manhattan. It was perfectly cooked. We even had dessert to share. It is super busy so make sure you go early or prepared to relax in the lobby while you wait. read more

I ordered everything on the appetizer menu and nothing was disappointing. I have to say the shrimp was the best (cooked not cocktail) most of the dishes come in escargot dishes and it's all amazing. The shrimp cocktail is traditional but the rest of them are all very flavorful and a little different but I suggest to try them all! read more

At no fault of the server, this restaurant which claims to specialize in steak, failed to provide the requested meal and for that reason I will not go back. Maybe this is just a weekly meal out for some people, but for others it may be a very special night in which they have travelled a great distance to eat. My wife and I went there on New Years Eve. Our reservation was for 9 pm. We were pleasantly greeted upon our arrival and would be seated shortly and were told we could wait at the bar until our table was ready. Shortly after 9 we were escorted to our table. Our server was pleasant and explained the special to us. We started out with Neptune stuff mushrooms and for the main course I ordered the 14 oz prime rib and twice stuffed potato and my wife ordered a twice stuff potato and calamari. This place is a favourite. Staff are always so friendly, attentive and knowledgeable on the menu. I always appreciate my servers opinion on the food and these guys excel at making you feel like an old friend. The food is always excellent. I love that the washrooms are modern, luxurious and clean. Wait was insane (45 minutes) but it was totally worth it. Despite how crazy busy it was this was hands down the best service I have received at a Calgary restaurant in as long as I can remember. Little details matter and it was clear that from our server to the back kitchen that the staff here was on point. I have had meals at many kegs in many cities and overall they are generally solid and very good but this one stands out head and shoulders and could compete with more expensive and exclusive steak houses. We have been to this location several times and it's always fine. I wouldn't normally choose a steak restaurant because I can make a decent steak at home but when we go it's always ok. One thing that I have to say is that I won't wait for 90 minutes for any restaurant, especially a 3 star restaurant. I haven't had a bad meal that I can remember not they are not usually particularly memorable. read more

I have to travel quite a bit for work. Stumbled on The Keg last night through checking Yelp and boy was it amazing. Walking in there was a long wait but 2 seats were available for my coworker and I at the bar. The bartenders were great and very knowledgable about the menu and really seemed to love their jobs. The meals were incredible and with that I will be returning for more. read more

I have only been to the lounge side of the keg which I think is phenomenal. Dim lights , nice music to set the lounge like mood. The decor is nice and the waitresses there all work very hard. The food was delicious. I never eat red meat with exception to a Keg steak. They do carry specialty vodka, which is refreshing. It is a bit pricy, but you have the money to spend and want a nice night out it is worth it. read more

Came here to celebrate a milestone birthday. I don't think we've ever had a bad meal at The Keg. This visit was no different. Service was good. Only complaint was the fact that I had made a reservation a few days prior, and advised of the special occasion, and were given a "not so special" booth that was far too small for four people. read more

Michael where were you? Michael our waiter was there when we started, took our order, delivered 2 pots of hot water and 1 mug for tea. It took him 15 minutes to bring another mug, by then the water was luke warm. Salads came quick, not delivered by Michael but by others. My son thought the garden salad was the same as the lettuce wedge, didn't like the mix of veggies or the salad dressing. Michael, after flagging him down, took it back and took it off the bill (which surprised us because we didn't know it was an extra charge). Food came within a reasonable time, it was hot and excellent. But they must get a cheap deal on the peppers. From that point on, Michael must have gone on break. No refills on hot water, pop or coffee refills were offered, he didn't come by to check on our food. We had a group of 8 and were not drinking so maybe he figured we weren't worth his time. On a $225 bill we gave him $30, not good. If he had spent some time fussing over this table, refilling waters & pop, his tip would have been much larger. But every time we wanted him he was no where to be found. The Keg needs to give some extra training to their staff. read more

I always go to this Keg restaurant. Service and staff are wonderful. Food is fantastic. The inside and outside of the restaurant is very nice, has a cozy ambiance. Only problem is the parking outside, wish there was more. It's a very busy and popular restaurant, parking is sometimes hard to find during dinner hours. read more

Don't get me wrong I love The Keg, and the food here is no exception. Great prime rib, onion frit, burning hoseradish!! But went there recently on a Sunday about 6:00pm figuring should be quiet. Wrong! The place was over run with families with kids running all over the place. I have a family and took my kid out, but to family type restaurants, and I never considered The Keg a family restaurant. I will go to the Keg again cause I love the prime rib but will go to Macleod and Glenmore location for a more adult experience. read more

Went for an impromptu dinner the other day: the food was FANTASTIC!! Complimentary fresh, warm bread with garlic butter, then the baked garlic shrimp for an appetizer (awesome). I tried the pecan crusted sirloin and it was the best steak I've had in a loooong time. Cooked absolutely perfectly, it was sublime. The creme brulee was to die for! Plus, it's big enough to share and still have a decent portion. Our server was prompt and lovely. Only issue is it got quite loud - the place was pretty full so the various different conversations going on did get loud. Definitely worth the price, however, as dinner was deeelish! read more
