The Keg on Glendale Avenue in St. Catharines is absolutely stunning--easily one of my favourite locations in the entire chain. Housed in a beautiful old stone building, it has so much character and charm. The service is consistently fantastic, and the food never disappoints. I always go for the top sirloin with a side of vegetables, and on my most recent visit, I had a piña colada that was out of this world--truly outstanding. I can't recommend this place enough. Interesting place. I think I was expecting something a bit more casual but as soon as you walk in you can tell it's a bit more fancy or trying to be more fancy. We are definitely more a casual family, but we went for it. Staff was friendly and helpful. We started with the mushroom Neptune. Which was good. I had sirloin Oscar which was steak with shrimp and scallops. Shrimp was small and the scallops were a little chewy. But the sauce it came with was really good! The place is beautiful, the waitress was good and polite. we knew it would be an expensive dinner but We were disappointed with the quality of the food. First place it took long time to arrive the table. The steaks were tasteless and cold. my steak had more fat then meat, vegetables were peppers basically. you can see that they have the knowledge in how to cook your steak, at list from the waitress conversation, and that is it. it didn't reflect in to the food we ate. we left the restaurant with that feeling that it was a completely waste. I don't review franchise chains too often but decided to give it a go with The Keg on Glendale. What you first notice when you walk up to this restaurant is the unique building it's in. The restaurant has a tall tower which makes it stand out and leads me to wonder what the building was used prior to The Keg. However, when stepping in, the next thing you notice is how dark it is. Now I know Kegs like to keep it dim, but at this location, it seemed darker than usual. We opted to sit outside which was quite nice. We ordered the 20oz. Rib Steak with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Vegetables and the Pistachio Crusted Salmon with a Baked Potato. The steak was fine (well-seasoned and cooked to medium rare as I requested) although I would have preferred it to be thicker. The mashed potatoes were full of flavour. The salmon was interesting as the pistachio's offered a nice crunchy texture to the smooth salmon meat. We would definitely order the salmon again. The staff were also willing to accommodate a dairy allergy which was nice. Overall a solid steakhouse and in line with what you'd expect from The Keg. read more

We made a reservation for 12 at this location for Saturday evening for 3 celebrations... a late Mother's Day dinner, Father's Day dinner and someone's birthday. We were sat upstairs and were soon joined by another party of 8 I think at the table beside us who had 2 small children who proceeded to screech and scream at the top of their lungs over and over for an hour and a half to the point that 3 people in our party had to resort to pharmaceutical intervention (extra strength Tylenol, etc.) for the headaches the 2 young children gave them! Two different parties of 4 got up and abandoned their table after being seated beside them! A few of us spoke up to the family from different tables and they basically laughed and STAFF DID NOTHING!!! As one party got up to abandon their table to get away from the little screaming banshees, the family who clearly has no parenting skills, public decency or consideration actually laughed and say "Oh... good bye!" What?!? It was awful!!! This isn't McDonald's. The Keg is supposed to be a fine dining experience. Completely ruined what was supposed to be a very special dinner x3! Feel completely ripped off. WE'RE from the states, good tippers and bring our money with us when we're dining. We came to The Keg 2 nights in a row. We were a party of 2, sat at the bar both nights, had numerous glasses of high end wine, Prime Rib dinners, wedge salads, traditional steakhouse fare. Both nights we spent well over $150 USD. On our second and final night, we ordered a dessert and asked for vanilla ice cream instead of what they were serving. Imagine the horror when we asked for a simple ice cream substitution! No, No, No! When the male manager did a check in with us we told him of our disappointment of not being able to have a simple ice cream substitution and he merely shrugged his shoulders. Isn't that ridiculous? Don't you think The Keg would want to make the customer happy? Someone who came in 2 nights in a row and spent over $300 USD at the bar? It has been a long time (and I eat out twice per week or more) since we had such a fun, professional, knowledgeable waiter who served us. We went to try the much-advertised Summer Lobsterfest and I ordered the Seafood Sirloin which was supposed to have lobster, shrimp, and scallops. My girlfriend and I went here for our anniversary dinner. She had been there before, but I hadn't. The service was great, our server was very friendly and informative about the menu (especially since it was my first time being there). The food was great, the steak was cooked exactly the way I wanted, the garlic mashed potatoes are to die for. Not to mention the bread that they serve is absolutely amazing!!! This is a really nice Keg. Yes, it's a franchised brand but the food is delicious. I treat myself to a visit to the Keg about once a year. This is mainly because I'm not a big meat eater but every now and then I'll get an overwhelming urge for a steak and The Keg is my go to place. It's always worth reserving for the restaurant as this is a popular place especially on weekends. Even on weekdays it would surprise you how busy this place is in the evening. I still can't figure this place out but I like it. It is an old factory and has a lot of character about it. It attracts a diverse crowd but is on the verge of being a high end steakhouse with lots of dark wood, tablecloths and dim lighting. The 3 twenty-somethings walking across the lot were all drinking tallboy cans of beer which they dropped in a can at the door. I glanced in and saw it almost full so this must be a local custom?? The servers and managers are all in their 20s and 30s and are dressed to impress. Very classy with some sexiness. Service was top notch. I had Tracy as a bartender and she was right on top of everything. She actually apologized as she got to me as I was drinking the last sip of my beer for not getting to me before. I had a Caesar salad that was very tasty and crisp. For a main I had the baseball sirloin which looks more like a filet from the shape, size and thickness. It was awesome. The fries were frozen fries but, the good kind and perfectly cooked. I was full so did not have desert. Prices were good but even better when converted into USD with the current CAD exchange rate. overall the quality and service match its price as a steakhouse. but it just needs some improvements. we went today for vday and we are offered the regular menu and the "special event menu". It was confusing and nobody explained it until we asked. Also one salad came quite a while before the other one arrived, and the ceaser salad got only one bread cube, yes, one. I understand they had been very busy on vday so for all the above we were just like ok it doesnt matter. But then for the desserts, we ordered cheesecake and pie. when paying the bill, the waitress asked if we wanna just pack them and we thought ok just let the staff go home earlier. A must! Service is incredibly friendly, relaxed, and polite! My boyfriend got the keg burger cooked medium and it came out perfect. I got the baseball top sirloin cooked rare (they have an option for "blue rare" which is more rare than rare, believe it or not, I am surprised I never heard of ) and mine came out just exceptional. Again, server is very knowledgable and friendly. The ONLY flaw is that it was a bit crazy tonight and our server took a minute to get to us and she forgot to tell us her name, which I wish she wouldn't have because I would have loved to shout her out. My husband and I spent out 1 year anniversary dinner here last night and was blown away by our server! We always joke that we have the worst luck with the sections we get sat in, but not last night! Joe was phenomenal! From the moment we were walking up to the restaurant, our door was held open for us and we were taken right to our seats. He helped me (being very divisive) make my dinner selection and suggested the best sides and drinks to go with our meal. Our food came quick and tasted awesome! In between dinner and desert he even came over and cleaned the crumbs off our table then brought us a complimentary (AMAZING!) mocha cheese cake for our anniversary!
