We went to the Keg Steakhouse for dinner. It was our first sit down dinner in a long time. The restaurant was nicely decorated and everybody was physically separated. Our waiter Alex was great and attentive. We started with excellent bread. I ordered the baked garlic shrimp and my brother ordered scallops and bacon for our starters. They were both great. I ordered the roast beef dinner while my brother order the baseball classic steak. Both main steaks were delicious. Would we go back? Yes, because the service was excellent and the food was great.

Not good at all. Except for the lobster and bread. Probably won't visit again. The steak and shrimps were overcook outside. We ordered medium but the steak was medium well so it was tough. The mushroom rice was just so so. The lobster was good. And we love the bread. The bread was warm. It was crispy outside and tender inside. 3 stars for the lobster and bread.

Price considering quality. Money well spent on decor and the help.

Throughly disappointed. This was the second time in about 4 months. Similar to out previous visit, our prime rib was as tough as leather. The vegetables were undercooked, to the extent that they were still raw. Fortunately, the prime rib entrée was replaced with a better slab, but unlike the original order of medium rare, it came medium well. The veggies remained rare, but our replacement was missing the mushrooms. We could have complained yet again, but it would have been futile. Going forward, we shall not return to this location. I have given this locate a well deserved one-star and will visit others which I have had better luck.

I think I'm the only person who has never been to The Keg before (I've never been a big steak eater)...but I thought it was due time, so we went to The Keg - Yonge & Eglinton to celebrate my partner's birthday yesterday. I am usually really picky when celebrating special occasions and I have to say that this place exceeded all of my expectations. Reservation: No resos on weekends from 6-9ish, but that's okay because we wanted a late dinner anyway. We showed up at 9:15, and only had to wait a couple of minutes. Got a nice and spacious table. Food: So delicious that I only remembered to photograph our calamari appetizer. Woops. We ordered some sparkling water, wine, calamari, New York Striploin Keg Classic (x2) which came with salads, veggies (usually mushrooms but I hate mushrooms so they subbed it out for delicious asparagus and peppers), a side (I got the twice baked potato...it's MARVELLOUS! The star of the meal - get it!!! My partner got French fries and they were tasty too) and I added on lobster tails with butter for dipping. We finished with two cakes, cheesecake and the signature coffee ice cream cake. 50000 calories later and I was left smiling and satisfied. Service: A+ all around. From the hostesses, to the food runners and our server himself - everyone was kind and making jokes, happy to suggest items and eager to help make my partner's birthday very special. Perfect attentive service, in my opinion. Atmosphere: it's dark and spacious, romantic and classy - nothing to write home about, but it's great for dates, birthdays, whatever! Cost: the bill for two *including* tip was about $200ish. Considering we got fancy $6.50 water (lol), wine, appetizers, salad, steak, lobster, sides, etc. and all of it was simply delicious...I'd say that is a very reasonable price for a special occasion! Overall, I would definitely go back to this location and would be happy to suggest it to anyone going on a very nice date or celebrating a special moment.

Here with a group of 7 for a pub crawl. This is the 2nd stop of the next night; a quick drink and then back on the road. Quick and courteous service. Nice bar!

Standard keg experience, solid steak that is cooked as requested in a comfortable environment with great service. The Kegs main strength is its predictability.

As a guest at a family celebration, I didn't catch the exact price of our menu, but judging from similar ones online, I'd estimate it around $798. Before committing to a $1,000+ spread, it's worth visiting to explore the more accessible offerings. The roasted suckling pig with jellyfish is a dish of contrasts: warm, rich pork paired with cool, crunchy jellyfish. It may have been my portion, but the pork leaned slightly fatty. Still, it was moist with a delicate, crispy skin. Instead of the usual deep-fried crab claw, Queen's serves a scallop with shrimp paste. It's easier to eat with a knife and fork, and while the sauce softens the crisp exterior, it adds a savoury depth without overwhelming the seafood. The crispy salted egg yolk prawns were impressively large and well cooked. I don't usually gravitate towards salted egg yolk, finding it heavy, but here it added a pleasant richness. Since the coating sits on the shell, it's easy to control how much you get. I also appreciated the inclusion of vegetables throughout the meal. The scallops came with gai lan, while the prawns were paired with broccoli, helping balance out the richness. Swapping out the usual shark fin soup, the bird's nest soup with minced chicken and egg white was a welcomed change. The broth was thick and silky, but the minced chicken added some much-needed texture. This is a long review for the rest go to Gastro World.

Out of the seafoods, mussels were my personal favourite. They were plump and tender, holding onto the sauce in their shells, creating tasty mouthfuls. Portions were more generous than initially met the eye -- as we ate, we did quickly become full. A downside is that warm/hot things are served in plastic bags. Mmmm yummy micro plastics... And the tables and washroom were not the cleanliest. I loved the decor of the place. Interesting art to look at, and splashes of colour here and there. Lots of tables. Paid parking is relatively easy to find in the neighbourhood.

On a hot, sunny day, I visited The Captain's Boil with friends for some seafood, and I have to say,…read moreI had a great time. From the outside, the familiar black-and-white sign was clean but showed signs of age, with faint white streaks suggesting that the exterior could use a refresh. Inside, we were greeted by a wall of colourful sticky notes, adding a fun touch to the dark, brick-lined interior. I also appreciated the nearby sink, making it easy to wash our hands without heading to the bathroom. It was definitely convenient. After being seated, the menu left much to be desired. It showed its age, with white scratches that made it hard to read the items. The ordering system was not intuitive for a first-time visitor, so we had to rely on our server for guidance. Also, the drinks menu looked like a printout from Excel, which was small, hard to read and, unfortunately, overpriced. We ordered the Matey's Feast along with another order of seafood, which was a generous meal for three people. Matey's Feast is one of their set meals that allowed us to choose two types of seafood, along with a variety of sides. Each boil also came with two regular sides, which was a nice touch. We went with Captain's Boil seasoning at medium spice, which was just right for enjoying the seafood. The boils arrived in clear bags, and we had to take them out of the bag and eat by hand. Shrimp Basket: A hot and crispy appetizer served on a bed of Cajun fries, which really whetted my appetite. The tartar sauce and ketchup on the side complemented the crunch. Captain's Fried Rice with Seafood: A simple but tasty plate of rice with shrimp. We added some of the sauce from the seafood boils for extra flavour. It was filling. Seafood Boils: Each bag of seafood was packed with seasoning and came with disposable gloves so we could dig in with our hands. The clams were cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of spices. The shrimp required a bit more work, with the heads and shells needing to be removed, but they were large and fresh, making it worth the effort. The extra sauce in each bag was perfect for drenching our sides or adding more flavour to the fried rice. Sides: We chose corn for the regular sides and sausage for the premium side. Corns were quarter-length cobs of corn and the sausages were served sliced. We tossed both into the seafood boil bags to soak up the spicy sauce, making them even more enjoyable. The service was adequate, with staff checking in occasionally to ensure we had everything we needed. The washroom, located downstairs, was not spotless but still serviceable. In terms of value, I found the pricing to be on the higher side. The drinks, at $4 each, were refillable but expensive considering I only had two cups. Given that it's a seafood restaurant, higher prices were expected, but I appreciated that sides like fries and fried rice helped fill us up. Overall, I had a good time. My rating of 3 reflects the tricky ordering process and steep prices, but the food was definitely enjoyable, and I left feeling full. I'd return if I was in the mood for seafood boil and ready to splurge a little.
