Listen I'm a native New Yorker from a city with no shortage of legendary steakhouses, but I've always enjoyed date nights at the Keg on visits to my gf in Toronto, and I finally had to give them their due after our most recent visit when we had a wonderful start to my birthday evening there back at the end of May. One thing I really enjoy about this place is it's elegant without being stodgy like the old school type of steakhouses. Moody lighting that still lets you see your food helps. And the staff here is always friendly; the rare times mistakes are made or service is a bit slow, they are quick to make things right. It's also a place I feel very safe eating at with a severe top 8 food allergy, I'm always asked about it by the server and they take care. Food is constantly good, doesn't taste like the usual Sysco junk, steaks cooked to the correct temp and seasoned well, sides tasty and fresh. We couldn't stay for the complimentary birthday dessert I was offered, since we were going to the Bruno Mars concert and I wanted to get there early for merch, but I appreciated it nonetheless. Keg was a pleasant surprise while roaming the late night streets of Toronto! Simple but nice sports bar/steakhouse layout and pleasant staff. The Baked Garlic Shrimp was amazing! Full of flavor and cheese! The Mac & Cheese was pretty good as well. read more

FYI, order the Keg Classic part of the menu for the best value. I have mixed feelings. The physical setting, cleanliness, look of the Yonge restaurant are fantastic. The problem is how the food is prepared. Our steaks were not medium, but well done and dry! The filet was very well seasoned, while the top sirloin had no seasoning to speak of. The top sirloin also was oddly cooked where half was a little less well done than the other. The mixed salad was excellent. The bread was dry and tasteless. However,, the whiskey sour was also excellent. The bad was the waiter didn't stop by for a while. The good is when he came by I mentioned the steaks being well done and dry and he offered to re do them. But at that point I wasn't into it so declined. The good is the manager stopped by and he comped the drink and gave us desserts for free. The bad is the cheese cake was boring and the crème Brûlée nothing special. We decided to not cook a Thanksgiving Turkey and dinner because you guys posted a special. We literally booked a reservation at a participating restaurant and thought we'd enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. Nope. Our waiter told us the Thanksgiving dinner ran out TWO HOURS before our reservation. He also told us that the kitchen had no idea how to cook a Turkey Dinner on masse and advised that it was head office that decided how many turkeys were delivered to each restaurant and they were unable to respond to any demand by ordering more. read more

We ate here for my husband's birthday, and it did not disappoint! They have the trifecta down pat: excellent service, wonderful food and great ambiance. The steak was cooked to perfection (and I'm not even a steak lover), the garlic mashed potatoes were AMAZING, as were the green beans, Caesar salad and side of mushrooms. Suggest avoiding this place: six of us had dinner there last evening, two of us had serious stomach troubles and one was served a baked potato with a large rotten spot. We two non-beef eaters suspect that the salmon we ordered had gone bad, as we both had stomach problems (very rare for us) all night and the following day. We suspect that, since salmon is probably not ordered often, it had gone bad before being served to us. The recipient of the rotten potato got a free meal but was quite upset at the event. The prime rib was excellent! The escargot delicious!! We traveled to Toronto from the US and we had not heard of The Keg Steakhouse's but we are so glad we found this place!! Loved the food and atmosphere and the service. The manager came by our table at the end of our meal and provided us with an amazing complimentary ice cream cake dessert after hearing we were new to their establishment... that really topped our great time. We went to the Keg Steakhouse for dinner. It was our first sit down dinner in a long time. The restaurant was nicely decorated and everybody was physically separated. Our waiter Alex was great and attentive. We started with excellent bread. I ordered the baked garlic shrimp and my brother ordered scallops and bacon for our starters. They were both great. I ordered the roast beef dinner while my brother order the baseball classic steak. Both main steaks were delicious. Would we go back? Have you ever had a meal so delectable that you could taste it days later?! The Keg went beyond meeting the mark! Was in town for my wife's bday and out of many places we found on Yelp, we're so glad we chose The Keg! Bad news first: No valet . *Insert sad face* Would be magnificent if they added valet. It was no fun trekking from the neighboring garage in heels. Once you get inside you'll forget all about that small walk. Warm cozy fireplace welcomes you and the hostesses were all smiles. Fragrant aromas filled the air preparing us for the appetizing meal we were about to indulge in. Calamari - Yes! yes! Yes!! Steaks and lobsters were cooked flawlessly - oh so tender. I've been living in the Yonge/Eglinton area for more than seven years now, and somehow I've only been to The Keg once before (and that was just for a few happy hour specials in the bar). I was in the mood for a steak, so I figured the time was right to finally give the restaurant itself a shot. We showed up right on time for our reservation, and we were shown to a less-than-romantic table in the middle of the restaurant. (They didn't have any booths available, we were told.) Despite the far-from-ideal location of the table, I was impressed by the dimly-lit ambiance and I was especially surprised by just how big the place is. It's pretty enormous! We decided to start with an appetizer, the Crispy Fried Cauliflower ("hoisin ginger sauce"). It arrived a short time later and is very, very tasted. The cauliflower itself is indeed quite crispy and hot, while the included hoisin ginger sauce is a perfect accompaniment. This was a very good start to the meal. For my main, I obviously wanted a steak, so I opted for an 8 oz Top Sirloin under the Keg Classics portion of the menu. This meant that I got a caesar salad as a starter and the steak itself came with sautéed field mushrooms and my choice of accompaniment. (I went with the Keg Fries.) I wasn't expecting much from the caesar salad, but it's actually quite tasty and well above-average as far as caesars go. But the main attraction is the steak, obviously, so I was pretty excited when it finally showed up to the table. And it didn't disappoint, for the most part. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was just as juicy as I was hoping. I will say it could've been a little more tender, but the flavor was just so good that I didn't really care. The mushrooms and fries were both delicious, too. All in all, I had a pretty great time at The Keg. I do wish the service had been a little bit better, though. Our waiter, who was admittedly very friendly, disappeared for long stretches of time, and I'm sure I would've ordered another drink (or two) had he been more present. read more

We survived Christmas and wanted to celebrate New Year's a little early. Where else but the Keg? We didn't have to wait long, and were served a life-saving gin and tonic. The bisque was heavenly. The main event, the top sirloin steaks were tasty and easy to cut. We didn't leave feeling stuffed. Our server Chloe was friendly, helpful and professional. Definitely coming back. read more

I've eaten at this location about half a dozen times in the two years I've lived in Toronto and I've never had a bad experience. I almost always order the same thing at The Keg, despite wanting to branch out and try new things. I just feel that you can't go wrong with the Keg Classic dinner. I always start with their Caesar salad, followed by the filet mignon (med rare) and a loaded baked potato. Their steaks are always good, and I enjoy every meal here. The only reason I don't rate them 5 stars, is due to the service. For some reason, the service is somewhat lacking at this location. Throughly disappointed. This was the second time in about 4 months. Similar to out previous visit, our prime rib was as tough as leather. The vegetables were undercooked, to the extent that they were still raw. Fortunately, the prime rib entrée was replaced with a better slab, but unlike the original order of medium rare, it came medium well. The veggies remained rare, but our replacement was missing the mushrooms. We could have complained yet again, but it would have been futile. Going forward, we shall not return to this location. I think I'm the only person who has never been to The Keg before (I've never been a big steak eater)...but I thought it was due time, so we went to The Keg - Yonge & Eglinton to celebrate my partner's birthday yesterday. I am usually really picky when celebrating special occasions and I have to say that this place exceeded all of my expectations. Reservation: No resos on weekends from 6-9ish, but that's okay because we wanted a late dinner anyway. We showed up at 9:15, and only had to wait a couple of minutes. Got a nice and spacious table. Food: So delicious that I only remembered to photograph our calamari appetizer. Woops. We ordered some sparkling water, wine, calamari, New York Striploin Keg Classic (x2) which came with salads, veggies (usually mushrooms but I hate mushrooms so they subbed it out for delicious asparagus and peppers), a side (I got the twice baked potato...it's MARVELLOUS! The star of the meal - get it!!! My partner got French fries and they were tasty too) and I added on lobster tails with butter for dipping. We finished with two cakes, cheesecake and the signature coffee ice cream cake. 50000 calories later and I was left smiling and satisfied. Service: A+ all around. From the hostesses, to the food runners and our server himself - everyone was kind and making jokes, happy to suggest items and eager to help make my partner's birthday very special. Perfect attentive service, in my opinion. Atmosphere: it's dark and spacious, romantic and classy - nothing to write home about, but it's great for dates, birthdays, whatever! Cost: the bill for two *including* tip was about $200ish. Considering we got fancy $6.50 water (lol), wine, appetizers, salad, steak, lobster, sides, etc. and all of it was simply delicious...I'd say that is a very reasonable price for a special occasion! I've been coming to this location for years. Was last here this New Years Eve. We were given a buzzer and told there was a wait for a table. Found a table in the bar area and didn't even notice the time go by. We had cocktails and ordered appetizers while we waited. By the time the table was ready the appetizers were not so they brought it to our table. Food was as expected for the keg. I have noticed that the entrees are quite salty. We ordered prime rib dinner and steak and lobster. It was a twin lobster tail. One was great but the other all mushy and deteriorated. Could've been better. Prime rib dinner was expected but the onion strings were very salty. They have a kids menu but portions very small and for pricI think you're better off ordering off the main menu. Bunch of racists. Lied to us saying they had no tables but I could clearly see they had plenty of empty spaces. Then I literally saw the white customers getting seated *without reservations* after some lady working there told me some made up garbage about not taking walk-in customers. If you're not white, don't bother going here. They'll find a way to get rid of you, or just give you terrible service. My friend had a similar experience but I didn't believe it until I saw it for myself. UPDATE I received a phone call the following morning from the general manager (Alex) and I am extremely grateful for his empathy and apology. I accepted his apology, and I was pleasantly surprised that I received a call from anyone at all. He invited me to visit the location to meet him in person and give them a chance to make things right, and I accepted his invitation. I was just looking for a bit of care and compassion towards my feelings and experience, and I feel that Alex gave me that. I feel much better now. The Keg is always great. Steaks are always cooked as ordered, appetizers are generous portions and there's a very good wine list. Cocktail selection is also superior. Came on a Sunday with my girlfriend and I was very happy to find they had a sangria special going on that day. We had calamari as an appetizer and were pleased. My girlfriend got a 12 oz peppercorn steak that she couldn't finish but we were glad that our server could provide a container to take the rest of it home. My 10 oz filet mignon was a tad undercooked but still good and I loved my twice baked potato. For dessert we shared a creme brulee which honestly may have been the best I've ever tasted! Came here for my birthday dinner on a Friday night with four other people. We had a reservation for 7 o'clock and we were about 10 minutes late - our table was given to someone else. A little weird, but it didn't put a damper to the night. About 2 minutes later, my pager started buzzing and we were seated at another table. The menu/cuisine is your typical Keg stuff. I'm boring when it comes to The Keg and I always order the grilled chicken. You'd have to be intoxicated to mess this one up. 3.5 Stars I must say that the Keg is not my favourite restaurant. But I have never been to this location. I must say ambiance wise I was pretty impressed. It looks really nice and not chain like inside. A place where you wouldn't be embarrassed to take a date. In fact we saw a lot of early daters in this place. Pretty big with a nice lounge/bar area, this place can accommodate a large group quite easily. The service we had was great. We decided to have a few starters and some drinks. We had the sliders (not bad); calamari - pretty decent; and the baked garlic shrimp - pretty yummy...but what happened to the rest of the shrimp?? For the price you pay I would have thought I would have gotten twice as many, but there were only 5 shrimp. Yup you read right 5. Five. Cinq. 5. Overall the food is overpriced which is why I'm giving it 3.5 Stars. I was also impressed with their drinks selection! This would be a great place to grab drinks and chill after work. The keg is, hands down, the best chain restaurant in toronto, and this location is no exception when it comes to quality control. Where it is exceptional is it's staff, who seem to understand the upscale-casual concept more than most locations. I will say that it's absolutely not worth your money to buy the lobster. Though a significant portion, it's pretty flavourless, i assume at fault of the supplier, not the cooking method. Best save your money for what they're known for. stop sirloin, prime rib, stuffed mushrooms and escargot are almost always my selections btw. read more

We were in the Yonge/Eglinton area and decided to visit The Keg on a Thursday evening before the Christmas holidays. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by 2 lady hostesses. We knew it would be packed as it is after all a Thursday night. The hostess told us that it would be roughly a 45 minute wait for a table or a first come first serve for the bar lounge. We put our names down on the waiting list but a minute later, we noticed a group at the bar lounge leaving so we quickly got a table! Talk about the right timing. I have always liked The Keg. The steaks are always consistent and the staff at this location was pleasant. Our waitress was attentive and suggested some of her favourite/most ordered appetizers to us as we had trouble deciding. There were also daily alcohol specials so we also got that. The menu can be alittle confusing as some of the communal sharing items were in the small menu but not in the large one so you really need to look through everything. Overall, the atmosphere is great. Great to chat and catch up with friends, great for a birthday party, great to just have a drink and watch a sports game. It was very lively that evening. Visited at the start of COVID; just as everything started to shut down... the pools, bars.... then gradually restaurants. Every second table was closed off. Server was friendly and accommodating. Took my son for 21st birthday; got the baseball steaks... unfortunately about an hour later; both felt equally BAD-OFF. Not something I've experienced at the keg before. Maybe it was an off night? Everyone in my party had to send at least one thing back. The vegetable sides were stone cold, the cauliflower mash was more of a raw cauliflower rice. The asparagus was steamed, plain, not a drop of butter or seasoning. Both the wedge salads and the garden salad had almost no dressing. Three of us had to request dressing for the plain lettuce. The manager came over but what can really be done? Also, celebrating two birthdays, in my experience they usually do something for your birthday like a piece of cake and a candle. We told them twice that we were celebrating two birthdays. They offered up a dessert menu, but we just couldn't stand any further disappointment. I used to live in that building and had great experiences, this is my first time back in five years, I don't know if it's a permanent change or just an off night? Weather last night with two others. The meal was wonderful. I had the blue cheese filet with king crab legs and a twice baked potato. Divine!!! The two others enjoyed their steaks as well. One of the people had the wedge salad that was thoroughly enjoyed. One must have the keg bread as it is very yummy. The wine list has a decent selection but nothing that wowed me. We enjoyed a nice bottle of Kim Crawford which was nice but alas it was about $20 more than what you can purchase it for. This is our second time at this location and everything was great. Service was perfect, as was the food and drinks. This time we came on Friday evening and we were given a booth (no reservations during peak times) but there was plenty of seating available. We ordered from the classics menu and I added a lobster tail to my meal, it actually ended up coming with 2! Great deal. Steaks were cooked to perfection. There was too much food since they start you with warm bread and salads so we packed up our leftovers so we could have a bit of dessert. We chose the mini brownie (no nuts) and creme brûlée and they were prefect. For $3 each it was definitely wort it. Out of all the location choices, the Yonge/Eglinton location is just A-OK. I always order the prime rib at The Keg, and the cut at this location was a little bit dry and way too fatty for my preference. Since it was the boss' treat for my birthday, I have no complaints. The service was really good - our waiter was very friendly and personable. He didn't even check my ID to see if it's actually my birthday, and brought out free dessert of my choice after our meal. He also gave my friend a bowl of boccacini when she asked for more for her salad. Though I liked our server, the food was very average.
