Always enjoyed my time at the keg, the king st location is one of my favorites. Hostess was pleasant but our server was amazing! Bianca was great! Super friendly and attentive. Good experience at the Keg, we had a reservation for two on a weekday for happy hour which is until 6pm. We got some snacks to share: the cauliflower, blue cheese wings, a Caesar, and eton mess for dessert Originally we wanted the shrimp cocktail but we were told that it was sold out... But an hour later we noticed another table got it which was strange... The food was pretty good, enjoyed everything. The meringue in the eton mess was a little soggy, that is my only complaint. All servers and hosts were accommodating, we requested a last minute switch from indoor seating to the patio which they were kind enough to help us with. Washrooms are clean, and the restaurant is well decorated. Would come back for a meal sometime! read more

Wait.. The Keg is good? Well the prime rib sure is. Maybe it's just me, but The Keg was mostly a high school / early university memory for me, eating subpar steaks thinking it was the fanciest restaurant ever. And now after a delightful after work event, I'm glad to be proven wrong - The Keg is back on the menu. The Keg kept up with their decor, modern and business-casual stylish, perfect for an after work get together. They offer happy hour up to 6pm, so we were able to sneak a quick drink in at the bar. Nothing special here except for the prices. The main thing to order is actually not necessarily the steaks but the prime rib. Pictured is the 10oz prime ribs served with veggies, fried curly onions, dressed with a light gravy and zingy horseradish. Get the 10oz if you want a meal, 14oz if you want to be full, and 18oz if you've skipped lunch or you're bulking. Either way you're getting a good deal because the cut is splendid. Cooked medium rare, the prime rib exudes premium beef flavours with consistent fat distribution. The meat is succulent and tender, coupled with the dressing to bring up the intensity of the flavours. I was thoroughly impressed by the flavour and the balance brought with the sides, especially at these prices in King West. Come to The Keg, get the prime rib, and enjoy a glass of reasonably priced happy hour red with it. read more

Had some last minute plans with friends and decided to visit the Keg on King St West as they fortunately had a table available for our group. The interior was beautiful and spacious. We were seated close enough to the bar area where we could watch a game which was nice. Service was AMAZING - Priya took care of us so well the entire time and made the overall experience very enjoyable. Steaks were good, cooked to exactly what I wanted, and wasn't too dry. We had an order that had the wrong side but they quickly corrected it for us. We were celebrating a birthday and got a free dessert as well which was really kind of the restaurant. Not the best Keg location but definitely high on my list. The interior is absolutely beautiful and spacious. Service was great, too. The only downside was that for a party of four, they placed us in the middle of the dining room on a table thats meant for two people. Plates and glasses kept being knocked over. The food itself definitely took longer than usual but it was a full dining room and it was Nuit Blanche. The Beef Wellington ($43) was on the menu and we all decided to order it. It's such a shame that it's a seasonal menu because it was absolutely delicious and would order it again. The loaded nachos ($21) was a bit stale and bland. Definitely do not recommend it. The birthday cake was decadent and was able to enjoy it with four people. read more

What a wonderful time at this location. Staff were professional from the hostess to the wait staff. The place is one with the more modern decor with a great space in both bar and dining room. We were quickly seated in the dining room after confirming our reservations. The waiter was nice and accommodating with recommendations. He brought us our drinks as well as bread before we ordered our mains. All of us received our meals about the same time but mine came out to be rare instead of blue. Although I had trouble finding our waiter, he quickly resolved the issue but taking my steak and told me that the kitchen will make it right. He kept the sides so I could munch on but took my fork where i had to grab a new set from the empty table next to us. When the new steak finally came, it was cooked right plus all the sides including the shrimp and scallop that was part of my order. To my surprise, the manager was the one who served my new plate as well as mentioned that my meal would not be on the bill as I had to eat alone since my group finished their meal waiting for me. It was a great gesture that was unexpected. Glad to have this experience as the steaks are reasonably priced for the quality of food and service. read more

The server was really organized and had our order on point. we ordered our drinks, and those who wanted their appies got them and a few of us ordered appies for our main. it was unfortunate that everyone (4/8 people) who ordered their steak had to send it back because it wasn't cooked properly. It was too blue or not cooked to the order. the server was nice and got us a free round of shots to make up for it, it was just frustrating for those who were really hungry. I have never sent food back to a kitchen & I have never left a bad review, this is a heavy hearted first for me on both counts. We have always gone to the Keg Mansion (a few minutes away) for our anniversary, it's fun and consistent and the service has always been over the top exceptional. This year for our three year anniversary we thought we'd make an exception in location and experience the Keg on King as it was close to the symphony show that we'd planned to go see - location was perfectly aligned to the timing of our show and we arrived in good spirits with medium expectations. Unfortunately... We Ordered Steak and Lobster - The steak was the WORST steak I've ever had a bite of. We ordered medium rare on servers suggestion and it had the texture of microwaved leather, was very hard to cut into despite appearing pink in the centre (Thought I accidentally used a butter knife to cut with, it was actually the steak knife) - and the char on the outside tasted like it had been painted with something that had been badly burned. We exhausted ourselves imagining what had happened, I think maybe burned on a dirty grill and then forgotten under a heat lamp or maybe nuked in microwave quickly to warm it up? The lobster was insanely bad - we thought it looked like a decent serving until we realized that it was a pitifully deflated portion that had been draped over the shell to give the illusion of bursting out of the shell. It had clearly been previously frozen (for a long time) and poorly treated, maybe microwaved? I'd compare it to biting into a really wet piece of salty french toast. Our server recommended appetizer of 'Gruyere mushroom dip' and it was basically a bowl of warm milk and mushrooms. All main seating is squeezed into high traffic corridors. No intimacy, sort of felt like a food court with dim lighting and softer seats. Server took the plate back when we mentioned the issue, and a manager came and checked to see if we wanted to reorder the same item. We declined and they removed the steak and lobster from the bill, but the disappointment was already fully felt. Anniversary dinner was spoiled, and we didn't have the time to wait for a different plate with a new serving. We got a decent laugh out of how bad it was afterwards, so I guess not a total loss, but in hindsight it's a unique kind of disappointment to bank on the consistency of a place like the Keg without realizing how wildly different the experience can be from location to location. read more

Let me tell you the last few times that I've come to The Keg they have gotten it right everytime! Great spot to come in for a great dinner, and we were happy to be able to walk in and sit down immediately, without reservation, on a Saturday night during TIFF! First off, this place is absolutely massive. When I first walked in to check out how big it was, I didn't know how far back it stretched. So they have a lot alot of tables. The star loss only comes from the mix up in the beginning upon seating, a communication error happend and left us sitting and waiting for like 20 ish minutes, but it picked up from their. The server was awesome. Very friendly, knowledgable, social, well known on the menu, spirits, suggestions, all of it was great. The food, was good. I wouldn't say it was memorable, but it certainly wasn't bad. Drinks were mixed perfectly though, and Dad enjoyed the beer. Anyhow, we talked to the manager for a bit too, told us the lowdown on the chain, 100 something stores in Canada, lots more info and such. In my skinny prime snowboarding days of the mid-2000s, I first recall visiting a Keg Steakhouse in Vancouver. But back then, I didn't realize this place was a franchise until now. With it being a fine establishment and with recollections running through my mind, our waiter mentioned The Keg had all started in VanCity. OHHH SNAP! I remember now, I just started my career and most likely still felt a broke college kid lol! Hence I didn't order anything special the first time, but let's fastforward and change the subject... = STARTERS = * We had the Baked Garlic Shrimp ($10) which was uber cheesy and buttery, and came with soft lil' dinner rolls. The shrimp seemed a bit small, but that's okay because I'm here for steak not necessarily seafood! * Second, we gave the Escargot ($11) a try. Now this was my first time trying snails, and will probably be the last too. Don't get me wrong, it was good. Especially with the deep fragrant aroma and baked in cumin flavor, but I thought 'eh, its a snail', nothing special about it. == DINNER == * She had the 7oz Filet ($35) medium-rare accompanied by a baked potato. Actually a mashed potato filled one that had bacon and some herbs. Sooo good! As for the filet, she shared a bite and it was perfect with the Family Wine red blend we chose from Niagara. * I had the 7oz Bleu Cheese Filet ($37), bacon wrapped with a side of asparagus. Oh man, I truly enjoyed this one! They both did an exceptional job in guiding us and recommending dishes since this was our first time visiting this establishment since we are from California. My wife had the top sirloin steak and I had the blue cheese bacon wrapped sirloin cooked medium rare which Im going to recommend! The combination of blue cheese, bacon with sirloin toped with a roasted garlic clove was an explosion of savory bliss to my taste buds. We chose to seat in the bar because we're running late. My beverage of choice tonight is the house Polar Ice Vodka Keg-size for $10.50. It's traditional Keg decor of dark rich colours and low lighting. The music level was average and conversation level was high. Not my favourite steakhouse in GTA but it's always an easy go-to when I want to stay local. The only beef option that I enjoy here is the prime rib - it's consistently tender, well-seasoned and delicious. The jus and horseradish adds an extra punch that the other steaks on the menu lack. Every time I have ventured away from the prime rib and ordered another cut (filet mignon, baseball, top sirloin) - I'm disappointed. Any steak - other than the prime rib - has always been served to me overcooked and bland. The French Onion Soup is good, but don't expect a hearty, deep, beefy soup base. I still enjoy it and have ordered it repeatedly. The Caesar Salad is average - the dressing tastes like bottled Caesar because it is. Understandably so, you can't compare it to the flavours of a tableside Caesar at other steakhouses. They recently added cauliflower mash to their menu - which is a great alternative to potatoes if you're trying to eat low-carb. This is actually the first vegetable side I've had at the Keg with flavour and seasoning. They serve it with asparagus and sweet blistered tomatoes. This is my go-to side now. Their other mixed vegetable sides (asparagus, green beans, peppers, mushrooms) are basic and simple. Expect plain, unseasoned and cooked. I assume they intentionally serve it bland for cleaner dietary preferences. Skip the gnocchi - It's just not worth it. The Billy Miner Pie is insanely delicious and reasonably priced for a huge dessert. Did you know you can call ahead and order a whole, frozen cake to take home? I think I paid $40 for a whole cake for a party. The service is inconsistent every time I visit. Some servers are great and very attentive. Some servers disappear, don't listen to orders and give you attitude when you have to ask twice for something they didn't provide in the first place. read more

The Keg King West This is not your average Keg. Upscale and a good time had by all I've eaten at the Keg all over Canada, and this is the One. I do mean THE ONE. The menu is the same the service seems to be more high end Supper club than your traditional Keg. This King west like location has some of the most beautiful people to ever serve you food. I always sit at the bar to watch the crowd and the bartenders at work. The Bar staff at this Keg work hard and seem to make perfect drinks with style and grace. Crystal my server was a new Keg employee. When the Keg opens a new restaurant they generally take people from all the other Kegs to complete their staff. I watch this server make drinks and serve me to Keg perfection. Kudos on her Kudos on the staff around her. Now to the meal. I ordered the 10oz filet as always. Today was medium. Let's start with the salad. I've been to Kegs where the salad smelt like the fridge. Not this Keg fresh Fresh is the word. Now the Steak. Perfection is the word. There's something different about this Keg. This Keg is a Keg by name only in my eyes. Hands Down Best Keg I've ever had a meal at. Jacobs is just around the corner and the Keg is just as good or better. Not as stuffy. This is the Best Keg Staff around. You deserve this title you earned it. Sorry Keg Mansion. After we told the server about the avocado situation, she did not say anything. She just put the dish away. We ordered two diet cokes and the server forget to bring that diet cokes to the table even after we told her for two times. Plus, the server did not refill our water for even one time. The steaks are reasonably priced and the quality of the meat is better than average. Our waiter recommended the New York Strip (their best seller) and the special of the day, a Kansas City Strip. We ordered one of each. Both of the steaks had a buttery texture, with the Kansas City Strip being slightly more tender. The special came with string beans, mushrooms, and an additional accompaniment. All of the sides were delicious. We ended our meal with their famous Billy Minor Pie (mocha ice cream on top of a chocolate crust and drizzled with hot fudge and caramel). It was basically a glorified ice cream cake slice - not that I'm complaining. We devoured it. The fair pricing, classy (but not pretentious) atmosphere, and bumping music marks this place as five stars in my books! Tip: Call in for last-minute reservations.
