First I must say I loved that this is located in a "haunted" mansion. The house is stunning and love just seeing the old style layout. The house is a bit dark but honestly it adds to the aesthetic. Our server was very knowledgeable and kind. He answered all questions tossed his way and gave various recommendations. I decided to get the snow crab cluster, baked potato and LORD IT WAS DELICIOUS! I usually steer away from crabs due to not wanting to crack and work for the food. But the crab was perfectly cooked and so buttery before even adding butter. A must try if you are visiting Toronto. The restaurant was built in an old haunted mansion. The only knock is this place is in a bit of a rough area. Our server was excellent and knew all the haunted history. Wish I remembered her name for a shoutout but she had brown curly hair. We started with the calamari. The sauces we're good for dipping. It was a bit overdone but not too bad. We all ordered sirloins. My wife and son order the lobster oscar to go on top of their steaks. It's like a buttery seafood topping on top of the steak. It was delicious. I order the shrimp Oscar and it was great. They got the garlic mashed potatoes and they very good as well. I got a twice baked potato which was very nice. As someone who isn't a steakhouse connoisseur, this restaurant surprised me. The taste of appetizers alone sold me before I even received my steak. I had gotten the baseball steak and dare I say it was as rich in flavor as rich as the restaurants history. The shrimp cocktail was fantastic as well as the calamari. I wish the lobster bisque had actual lobster in it though or at least the option to have actual lobster in it. It was tasty nonetheless. Our server, Jolene, was amazing. Jolene brought positive energy, honesty, and hospitality. When it came to recommendations on what to get, Jolene did not lack there. I hope anyone who comes here has Jolene as a server or someone just as great! Staff seemed to have great chemistry amongst each other and their regulars. I remember eating at a The Keg back when I lived in Portland Oregon and it was one of my favorite places to dine. Now I'm in Atlanta and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to check one out again after so many years. So when I traveled into Toronto with friends and family I made reservations for out party of 10 to check this spot out. The restaurant was extremely accommodating cause we had other plans that were not as stable timewise. The Keg allowed me to move my reservation TWO TIMES!! I was so grateful they were so accommodating!!! We ended up having the perfect dinner on our final night in Toronto! Service was top shelf, the Mansion location is really kool. A friend kindly invited me to The Keg Manor for a pre-holiday dinner, and I was excited to check out the infamously haunted Victorian setting! Our group of four arrived in time for happy hour, and I have to say, both the exterior and interior really exuded that classic Victorian vibe - just try not to think about the resident ghosts rumored to roam around. We had a reservation but still had to wait a few minutes to get seated. On the bright side, they offer limited free parking, which is practically unheard of in downtown Toronto. Once our table was ready, we were ushered to a crowded room upstairs that was pretty noisy, but the staff happily moved us downstairs when we asked. It was darker there, but a lot quieter - much better for conversation. The happy hour menu wasn't huge, and the deals weren't mind-blowing, but there were still some tasty options. We ended up ordering prime rib sliders, shrimp cocktail, tuna tartare, bacon-wrapped scallops, filet mignons with garlic mashed potatoes, seasonal veggies, and Caesar salads. Drink-wise, we got several cocktails plus a No-Paloma (zero proof) for me. Honestly, the star of the night was the prime rib sliders (with the most potent horseradish I've ever encountered). The filet mignon was a close second, perfectly cooked and served with comforting sides. I also really liked the No-Paloma, which tasted like fruit juice in the best way possible. The one letdown was the tuna tartare, which felt bland and wasn't quite balanced in its tuna-to-avocado ratio. If you've had something like the old Tuna Stack at Cactus Club (R.I.P.), you might be underwhelmed here. We had one person in our party with a food allergy, and both our server and the manager were incredibly attentive and careful. Service overall was friendly and relatively quick, although the bar got backed up early on. A slightly larger table would've been nice, as we kept shuffling plates and drinks around all night. I'm not a regular steakhouse-goer, but overall I was happy with the food and the service (especially since I wasn't picking up the tab). I love The Keg and this is my favorite Keg location; located in a HAUNTED mansion! There's private parking available in front and back of the restaurant and it's free for KEG customers after 5pm. Reservations are highly recommended specially during the holidays. The bar is located in the second floor, so if you want to sut close to the bar, make sure to mention that. Or, if you want to be closer to the ghost that resides in the mansion lol. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. Ethan was very helpful and he even told us stories about the ghost that lives in the mansion. We were offered the signature Keg loaf of bread with cream (choice of regular or cheese). We ordered Fried Calamari for appetizer and Prime Rib (14oz, rare) and New York Striploin (12oz, medium) for main course (You can choose a side with each entrée). And paired our steak with red wine. The steaks were cooked to our liking and were really delicious (NY Striploin could've been less salty). The Keg is a Canadian steakhouse chain that also has several locations in the U.S. I am not a big fan of chains in general, let alone give it a 5-star rating, but this particular location impressed me. Located in a mansion built in 1867, it was home to Canada's illustrious Massey family in 1882 that included the famous Hollywood actor, Raymond Massey. The Keg eventually acquired the property in 1976 and refurbished it to its original elegance to be their prestigious flagship restaurant. The Keg Mansion, as it is known, serves top quality steaks, prime rib and seafood in a refined and relaxed atmosphere. There are several dining rooms on both the main floor and on the second floor with its own unique ambiance. We were fortunate to dine at the Keg Mansion during their special Lobster Summer menu. I ordered their 10 oz prime rib with half live Atlantic lobster. No doubt, the Keg knows how to cook and serve high quality meats. The prime rib was tender, perfectly seasoned and flavorful. The half live lobster was split perfectly in half, grilled, and served with melted butter. It was an excellent surf and turf dinner. But leave room to share their Billy Miner Pie for dessert. It was a delightful mocha ice cream pie that gives your dinner that perfect finish. Service was very good. We sat on the second floor that had its own bar, but our waiter, Ray, gets his exercise by going up and down the stairs to the kitchen for our food. He was attentive and made sure our needs were taken care of by the support staff. Parking is in front and adjacent to the restaurant. After 6pm, there is no charge in the adjacent public lot. The Keg Mansion is an excellent and popular Toronto steakhouse. Its food quality and service are very much comparable to any of those overpriced steakhouses you will find elsewhere. read more

As a non-meat eater, I love The Keg because its seafood and vegetarian dishes are quite good for a steakhouse chain. ** AMBIENCE ** The Keg Mansion has a different ambience compared to the other locations - it's more comfortable, homey, and spacious. Located in a converted mansion, it occupies 2 floors with multiple 'rooms', leather couches, wide comfortable seats, wooden accent interior, and stained glass windows. We came around Christmas time, and the interiors were all decorated with very festive hoiday decorations and small Christmas trees. The first floor has a half open-concept kitchen that you can walk in and peek at what the chefs are doing. It also has spacious dining rooms with ample seatings (that tend to get filled up quickly as soon as it opens, so make a reservation where possibel!). We were seated upstairs by the window (with a lovely mini Christmas tree decoration right beside us), making a nice photo op. There was a bar with screens showing sports games in the middle of the floor, and rooms and dining tables around it. The bar has a different menu (e.g. you can order sliders at the bar). Washrooms are located on the 2nd floor. ** FOOD ** Food-wise, it's excellent just like in any other The Keg location. Menu seems to be identical in most locations I've been to in Toronto. We tried their "Holiday Features" (special limited-time items) shareable sides, Caesar Brussels Sprouts and Asparagus with Spiced Hollandaise, and they were both super delectable - two of our favourite sides of the night (especially the Caesar Brussels Sprouts - crispy to perfection). For the mains, we ordered Lobster Tail Dinner and Mediterranean Cauliflower. The Lobster Tail Dinner came as 2 large lobster tails that easily slid off the shells. They were tender and perfect. It came with mushroom rice (just okay) and seasonal vegetables (steamed green beans and beets). The Mediterranean Cauliflower was my favourite main dish of the night. It consisted of oven-roasted cauliflower, green garbanzo bean hummus, couscous, pistachio nuts, and tahini lemon sauce. It was SO delicious! The Keg wins for a steakhouse serving the best vegetarian dishes on the menu. I'd definitely get this again the next time I visit The Keg. The sides of baked potato, fresh vegetables, mushroom rice, and sautéed mushrooms were all pretty good as well, but the holiday feature items / specials (Caesar Brussels Sprouts and Asparagus) were still the winners. ** SERVICE ** Great service - no complaints. First of all I just want to say the venue and the service was impeccable. It's such a cozy atmosphere. We were seated in a small room for our date night. So romantic. Then 8 of the loudest people EVER were seated next to us. Like so loud we could barely talk to each other. We started with drinks, my husband ordering a Manhattan, me a wine. Came right away and we ordered the tuna tartare and shrimp cocktail to start. Shrimp were beautiful. Fresh and plump. The tuna was a tad disappointing. Once again, just ok. But in their defence, this is a steak house. It had a touch of curry and lentils and a disappointing blob of mashed in the middle. Sorry but I wanted the layer of mashed over the veggies. My husband ordered the New York strip. He has a steak maybe twice a year so it's gotta be good. I could tell by the look on his face he was so disappointed. Took two bites and said, I can't eat this. It was very rare (he ordered med rare), and grissley. He asked the waitress if they could put it back on the flame to redo it a bit. No problem. When they brought it back, it was perfect. Also, his garlic mashed was killer also. Would have liked THAT all over my shepherds pie. We were comp'ed out 2nd glass of wine for the inconvenience, which was nice of them. You get to choose your side and we both got garlic mashed potatoes. They give you complimentary bread with garlic butter and that was so soft and warm. We also go the Billy Miner pie. The good: This restaurant has history and is evident that you are walking through a mansion which has been restored to some degree over the several 100+ years. Some even say it's haunted. Ambiance was lovely, there are two floors and plenty of seating. Each room is sort of unique. On the main floor there one part which is considerably darker compared to the rest. The upstairs seemed more lively. The music was great. Was not in the mood for steak so tried other items on the menu. The food was delicious everything from the warm bread, French onion soup which has melted cheese on top and not too greasy, it was a great start to the meal. The blacked chicken was great though I found that they could have given veggies. The burger was fresh, loaded with fries on the plate. The service from our server was excellent but the wait times were considerably long. He was being stretched thin running around attending to several tables. This is no ordinary place. This is the mansion and it is quite a treat to dine at this location. The keg's prime rib is always perfect and a signature of theirs. Though the brand name may not stand up to some of those more exclusive steakhouses downtown, the steaks are fantastic and the prices are much fairer than those other pretentious places. I personally love the steaks at the Keg and I hope they continue to receive your love and support. I was so looking forward to a dinner at The Keg since it's been a few years since I have dined here. Unfortunately some of items just didn't taste as good as it did. We started off with calamari, escargot, crab spinach dip as appetizers. The calamari had many pieces clump together. They tasted like frozen battered calamari. Everyone at the table agreed the escargot tasted different than we remembered it to be. The crab spinach dip was recommended by our server, it was the least popular amongst the table. It also merely had any crab it in. I had the lobster dinner. The lobster was perfectly cooked and I really enjoyed it. The mushroom rice that was paired with it wasn't good though. It was dry and also really clumpy. I also had half the filet mignon which was blend and not really flavourful. Though the steak was cooked well. Ended off with the mini brownie and cheesecake. Nothing fancy or special. Nothing really gave that "wow" factor at all. Our bill came to around $500 after tax and tip for 6 people. The service was decent but I found the space rather tight. I do appreciate the mansion setting over a regular Keg. I would rather spend my money at another high end restaurant instead. read more

I went there with a friend to celebrate his birthday. The reservation form asked if it was a special occasion, so I indicated that it was a birthday. When we arrived, the hostess asked whose birthday it was, and then said, "Happy Birthday." Our waiter said, "Happy Birthday." That was the extent of the birthday recognition. (Why ask, if that's all you plan to do?) The food was excellent. No complaints about that. My rare steak was perfect, as was my friend's well-done steak. The fries were hot and crispy, and the vegetables were nicely prepared. We also had a baked brie appetizer and I had creme brulé for dessert. Both delicious. Unfortunately, the service was not very good. After we ordered our steaks, I told the waiter that we did not know a lot about wine and asked if he could recommend what would go well with our meal. He replied, "No. There used to be some wines I recommended, but we don't sell American wines anymore, and so they're gone." Our main courses arrived together before we had finished our appetizer. This was surprising because everything else seemed rather slow. I finished eating before my friend, and the waiter took away my plate. (I realize that mores are changing, but I think the plates should only be cleared when everyone is finished.) A few minutes later, the waiter asked my friend, "Are you still working on that?" He was. Eventually, the waiter said that he was getting off, so would we mind paying the bill immediately. Unfortunately, I spilled some red wine on my pants. I eventually caught the eye of another waiter and called him over. I asked if he had any suggestions on avoiding a stain, and he just shrugged. I said that I had heard that soda water could help. He said, "I can bring you some soda water." He did, and said, "I brought you a couple of napkins too." I can't believe that I am the first person to spill red wine on my clothes in a steakhouse, so I was astounded that the waiter seemed completely indifferent and uninformed.
