The hotel doesn't have an elevator, but it's only three floors and the staff assisted with the bags The room was big and clean. The bed was comfortable. The toiletries were great. They lathered well and smelled great. The room didn't look dated like some of the reviews stated, but I think I read they had just been remodeled. I definitely recommend this hotel. I normally don't post bad reviews, especially during a pandemic. Pandemic or not some things I can not let go. If I could give this place negative or no stars I would. Me and my fiancé just had an intimate wedding in Edgartown. Our family and toddler stood at this hotel since our hotel did not allow kids. Never had I felt staff lack hospitality, common sense or courtesy like the staff at the Kelly House. One example, my dad (who is blind) had just checked out at 11 am and he left his bags at the lobby. At 12 noon he wanted to use a restroom was denied access since "he checked out". Was told to "find somewhere outside that has a bathroom". Never asked to help with luggage. Never opened doors. Never made eye contact or a hello, or a good morning. Continental breakfast normally consist of more than two items. In this case it was burnt coffee and some sweet muffin for which you have to ask for one by one. If your in a group of 4 or 5 and one person asks for a muffin don't you think you should ask if others from the group want any? So let's say you're an introvert who doesn't care about courtesy or a false advertised continental breakfast, or any form of hospitality. You just want a clean/nice place to sleep and leave. Well this place is not it. You have to tell the staff to clean. They only cleaned our room once during a 4 night stay. read more

Kelly House has a great location, but this does not make up for the lack of up keep. I stayed here for a long duration that allowed me to see lots of problems. The electrical is scary. At times during my stay I was afraid a fire would start because of this. The fans in bathrooms sound horrible and go in and out. The hallway lighting flickers when you open or close the front door. There are several sockets that don't work altogether... One with burn marks. There are zip ties holding up one of the window shades. The painting was done very poorly. Spots are splotchy, and lines crooked, and cracks in ceiling. The worst part about my stay is the mold! I reported a mold problem in the up stairs bathroom. Maintenance came and painted over the spot. A few weeks later the 6" mold spot came back. I reported the problem again and again it was painted over. I am checking out today and sad to say the mold spot is back and has outlasted me. There is also mushroom type fungus growing in the downstairs bathroom. There is a washer and dryer that is located so you can rest your head on it while using the restroom. Needless to say, this is not a nice place to stay especially for the price! read more

Prime location, newly renovated rooms. Downfall is the musty smelling room. We stayed on the first floor, closet area especially stinky. They seem to infuse the lobby with a lovely scent but the musty odor is overwhelming when walk into your hotel room. Hoping to get the stink out our clothes when we get home. Pretty disappointing considering how expensive this place is, we paid $380 for 1 night and you're really just paying for the good location which is in the heart of Edgartown. The room wasn't exciting, pretty boring and no tub. Overall it wasn't decorated great and the paint job was poorly done. Be aware of rooms overlooking the outdoor bar area!! From 8pm-1am there was incredibly loud music from below that was so loud you could make out every word and the bass was practically shaking the room. Super disappointing to pay that much for a room you can't even get sleep in. The walls were also very thin and we could make out every word our neighbors were saying. We'll be trying another hotel next time read more

We stayed at the Kelley House over April vacation and had the best time! The 2 bedroom suite was perfect for our family of 5; the layout was very comfortable (and modern!) and the view from the deck was amazing! The kids room had two double beds and our room had a king size bed- and the mattresses were very comfortable. Each bedroom had their own television and access to their own bathroom as well. We enjoyed breakfast on the large deck each morning, but there was also a table inside the suite we could use in case it got cold. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, and we felt very safe with all the COVID protocols they have in place. We enjoyed takeout from The Newes and everyone (including the three young kiddos) ate everything- the chicken tenders (for the kids) and the 1742 Burger are highly recommended!! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back again! read more

The staff are exceptionally friendly here and the decor was nice. You can't beat the location for Edgartown. The real dampners for me are the paper thin walls and the curtains are the wrong size. They don't close properly to block out the light which is what we needes when trying to get away and destress with some meaningful sleep. This may not bother anyone else, but it does mean we would look into other accommodations. read more

Buyer Beware. Call ahead of time to confirm renovations are complete. For this amount of money you should get what you pay for. This is a view of the lobby, stairs and halls. Not at all what the website shows. The manager on duty Adam was new (had been there a month) and was told all renovations would be complete by April 1st before he transferred to this hotel. Well, the joke was on him and anyone else planning to stay at this hotel now or in the next six months. As you can see by the photos which were taken on June 3rd, 2017 the place is far from renovated. Adam was told the renovations were complete before he arrived and was totally surprised to find out they were not. (See:hoodwinked) He readily admitted he had been trying to "nip it in the bud" by offering discounted rates per order of management! Ridiculous. He did everything he could to make things right and really went above and beyond - but the poor guy is fighting a losing battle. The owner of this hotel cannot be owned by a professional and should leave it to people who know what they are doing. Adam is the one shining star in an otherwise sh#% show of a business. Staffed by kids, loud partying going on at all hours. We should have been told ahead of time the condition of hotel, else we would have found another place to stay - but that's why we WEREN'T told. TIP: The Kelley House is UNDER CONSTRUCTION. We were not told about the construction when we made the reservation, and when we checked in were surprised to see that at least the entire first floor was under construction. Construction workers were walking around, drilling etc. It would loud and the floors were all unfinished. Call before booking here to ask if the construction is still going on. Our overall experience at The Kelley House was unbelievable. We knew the trip would be great - but it was made even better by the staff at KH. Bonnie and Sarah made sure we had everything we needed to explore and enjoy the island. What is different about KH is that they are so approachable to helping you plan your trip and always open to give you honest feedback about what to do and where to go when you get there. The concierge was incredible at helping us, the location of the hotel was second to none, the market and pub make booking here a no-brainer. The hospitality provided makes you barely need to leave the hotel property to enjoy your stay, but when you do you can see all the gorgeous things Edgartown has to offer within walking distance. If I were coming to MV without a car - this is where I would most highly-recommend staying. Can't say enough about the atmosphere, amenities and services of this hotel and how they continue to improve. Looking forward to coming back soon :) read more

This hotel has a beautiful entry and appears to be trying to establish itself as an artist gallery. It's located in a great area of Martha's Vineyard. I would highly recommend the area for shopping and restaurants. Unfortunately the hotel itself I would put on par with a Best Western and an old Best Western at that. This isn't to say that it's horrible or dirty. Quite the contrary the rooms are quaint and clean. However, the heat is broken as has been mentioned in other posts. We counterbalanced the broken heat system with open windows. I do love the ocean breeze, so it wasn't much of a hardship. Also of probable important note is there is no elevator in this 3-story hotel. The walls are super thin which is a problem in such a romantic place. Unless of course you're into that sort of thing. Which we are. On a totally unrelated note thank you to the couple in 301 for such a great weekend! Seriously, though overall I would recommend the hotel if you have low expectations, don't need fancy things like regulated air and privacy and can walk up the flights of stairs easily. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean and again the area is perfect. read more

First the good stuff. This is a great location...possibly the best on the island if you want to be in Edgartown and need to go back and forth to Chappy. It also gets high marks for front desk service...everyone is very knowledgeable and friendly. The main bedrooms are also nice, clean, reasonably updated and spacious. The problem is really value, even if you factor in the seasonal MV gouging. If you're paying $400+ for a hotel, do you expect to have linoleum floors in your bathroom and mold in the corners of your bathtub? Do you expect to have a bathroom that wouldn't be out of place in a $40/night Days Inn in central Kansas? Do you expect to pay an extra $30/day to take out one of the bikes? I don't. I personally wouldn't go back to the Kelley House because I expect more at this price level. I know MV is famous for it's comically ratty $250/night bed and breakfasts but, at this price level, a few nights can pay for at least a low end bathroom update that would at least bring the hotel into what would be expected at half the price. I feel like you have the right to expect a certain level of quality at the $400+ price point regardless of where you are. read more

The Kelley House is an extremely convenient and solid option for staying in Edgartown. Pros: - Complimentary parking (though the parking lot can still be snug) - Complimentary Starbucks coffee and muffins each morning, and cookies and milk in the evening - Nice pool with fun bar - Very central to downtown so it's easy to walk to restaurants and shops - Reception area has historic charm (though rest of hotel is pretty standard) - Refrigerators in rooms I think this is a great option if you want a really easy spot to stay in on Martha's Vineyard and want the convenience of walking to dinner and hitting up the pool in case the beach is windy/chilly. It is not the most romantic spot I have ever seen, so it's more about accessibility and convenience than charm. We got a nice deal with it wasn't high season but I don't think I would necessarily shell out $$$ since this would be considered a fairly standard hotel on the mainland. read more

Loved the KELLEY HOUSE! When your in Martha's Vineyard, you have to stay in Edgartown where the Kelley House and the Harborview Hotel are located. We reserved the Courthouse which is a 2 bedroom suite that is equipped with everything we needed. From Fridge, to washer and dryer, along with 2 bedrooms/2 baths, outside grill, plus it was walking distance to everything from restaurants, shopping and bars. Charlotte who worked at the front desk and I'm sure wore many hats, was such a sweet and wonderful lady who was always there to help us with whatever we needed. BRAVO to the entire Kelley House staff for doing an outstanding job. Whether you are going on your trip to Martha's Vineyard with your family or as a couple, the Kelley House will not disappoint. Mariana McCormack( Mari) was absolutely delightful, she was outstanding in her empathy towards our needs, she went above and beyond to help me during my stay by easing check in, getting me oriented about the area, best restaurants, yoga place, walking trails. The Kelley House is where I've stayed since my first visit to Edgartown back in 2001. When tracing my family roots, I found that my family ran the hotel and pub back in the 1700's. I've stayed at the Kelley House on a number of occasions covering every season of the year. There has been ownership change and management changes throughout the years. Each team has been fantastic. My family is always treated like family. I watch interaction between other guests and the staff. They're family also. I'll stay no where else on Martha's Vineyard. read more

It being our first time on Martha's Vineyard, I'm glad we chose the Kelly House. It's location is perfect for shopping, restaurants, the Edgartown lighthouse, and the bus stop. Upon checking in, we were greeted by Naomi. Kudos to the Kelly House for having such an awesome person working at their front desk! She not only made us feel welcome, but was very informative with suggestions of things to do and restaurants to try. Our room, #216, had a nice view of the pool and the ocean (in the distance). The room could use some help. The desk chair felt like you may fall through, and the drain to our tub was completely backed up. Aside from those two minor issues, everything else was great! The bed was comfortable, it being not to hard or soft. The pillows were so soft (my husband wasn't a fan of them since he prefers something firmer), but I loved them! The room was clean, and there was cable and free wi-fi. We would definitely return for any future vacations to Martha's Vineyard! read more

Beautiful historic boutique hotel with good sized, spotless and well equipped rooms decorated to to an excellent standard. Great location, minutes from shops and restaurants. Parking can be limited and awkward to find at busy times due to size and location of parking lots, not helped by a confusing one way system. Nice touch by the hotel that did not provide breakfast, to provide complimentary muffins and coffee in the mornings and milk/cookies in the early evening. read more

This beautiful, quiet, homey hotel is exactly what my family needed. It was in a great location surrounded by quaint shops (although be warned, most of the island is closed in May). It's also a couple of minutes walking distance from the Edgartown lighthouse. We had warm chocolate cookies and milk at night, and muffins in the mornings. I also need to mention The Newes from America restaurant attached to the hotel. It was the best food we had all weekend. The French Onion soup was fantastic! The waitress was wonderful. The hotel was getting a fresh coat of paint while we were there. As mentioned before it was the off season. read more

I went here for a short stay in January. Not exactly peak season but I was wonderfully surprised at how much I enjoyed my stay. It was cold and raining out and we where greeted by a nice fire, fresh cookies and a festive Christmas tree. The decor was fresh and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We went and had dinner at the adjoining restaurant / pub. There was a another nice warm fire, friendly staff and good beers on tap. - It you happen to be traveling to Marthas Vineyard in the winter it is a great spot to get snowed in. read more

This place is awesome. Even though it was originally opened in 1742, it has clearly been renovated very recently. Every aspect of the hotel felt very nice, luxurious and comfortable. Unfortunately we went during October so the pool was closed, however I imagine that during the summer the pool would be great especially consider the nice poolside bar. Finally, the milk and cookies served every evening are fantastic, do not miss out on them! read more

The Kelley House - Hotels Near Me - Edgartown, Massachusetts

I stayed here with some family for a friend's wedding in June. At the advice of the bride and groom, I booked our room in late January/early February, to make sure that we had a room for that particular weekend. During the 4+ months between booking and our stay, I was never contacted by the hotel. The day of our check-in, we come to find out that the hotel is undergoing significant renovations, including in the hotel lobby, and that one of the reasons that they were forced to renovate was because of mold. I asked the manager why we weren't contacted to give us the option to stay somewhere else, with the mold, construction dust, paint fumes, etc, all being health hazards. He made an excuse that they didn't have time to call any of their guests, and then offered to give us 50% off our stay. I took the discount, but I would've much rather stayed somewhere else! The room that they did have us stay in was clearly in dire need of renovation as well -- strong smell of mildew/mold, holes in the walls, shabby/delapidated furniture. And what's more, they clearly needed to fumigate! Over the course of our three-day stay, we saw (and killed) several "thousand-leggers" (centipedes that eat roaches, bed bugs, and termites!). Kelley House was purchased in December 2016, and clearly the new owner(s) is/are not ready for guests! The pool was filthy (and therefore not open), and the lobby unusable, never mind the horrible state of our room. I'm glad that my family were such troopers in having fun in spite of the conditions of our lodging. Even at 50% off, it was a complete waste of money to stay in a health hazard. read more

This is a review for our most recent stay at the Kelley House. The service, again was excellent. Cookies and milk in the evenings and muffins and coffee in the mornings. It was too cold to use the pool, but it was very clean and looked inviting. Our first morning there were lots of noisy door-slamming on our floor, but I called the desk and alerted them and it stopped. I wish the room was cleaner. There was a spot on the bed skirt and the tub/shower could have used some extra attention. Last far everything in that department was perfect. Nothing to be alarmed about, I didn't even call the font desk...We will always stay at the Kelley House during our visits to the Vineyard. read more

I traveled from out of state with some friends for a 30th birthday, and the staff at the Kelley House made every effort to make sure we all felt special. I would especially like to thank Scott and Sarah who took extra steps to help us arrange fun outings and meals. Kelley house was a great experience. Just a few steps away from the picturesque views of the Katama Bay. I stayed 3 nights. Each day we received a list of events for the day and complementary coffee tea and something to go with it. The staff went above and beyond my expectations. This was our second time staying here. The first was last year for Memorial Day weekend, and we had a great time! Unfortunately, this year was a let down. The front desk staff was very friendly and the location was perfect, however, we were really disappointed several times. The bathroom was dirty and had hair and crumbs all over it when we first arrived. The rooms just don't really look clean in general. It's a very old building and I don't expect it to be perfect, but the rooms don't look well taken care of. There was no air conditioning in the room which made it pretty miserable trying to sleep. The attached pub was closed due to "technical difficulties." Housekeeping just never came the entire weekend. We were gone all day and even put the service sign on our door, and they didn't come. We noticed that all the other rooms had the signs out as well and those weren't cleaned either. The walls are extremely thin, so you can hear everything your neighbors are doing and can hear everyone in the hall. I would definitely not stay here again! read more

Walking into the lobby you feel warm and fuzzy. It's a classy little Inn without the snobby feeling other fancy ones may have. It's extremely clean and the customer service was professional. Warm scones with great tea were served in the afternoon which I thought were delicious. They have a small continental breakfast in the mornings and cookies and milk at bedtime. The rooms are clean and well furnished, bathrooms a bit outdated but fine. The building itself is VERY old so every hour or so the lights dim as if a brown out were to occur but go back up again, I got used to it. My only complaint was the noise. I was on the ground floor and those upstairs sounded like elephants when walking around which interrupted the little sleep I had a chance to get which was a bummer. The walls are pretty thin also, I could hear quite a bit next door to me (luckilly they were family) So if you stay here, ask for an upstairs room. The location can't be beat, it's smack in the middle of Edgartown and you can walk to all local restaurants/shops and it's half a block from the waterfront. read more

This is a quaint hotel with a boatload of charm and centrally located for easy access to everything worthwhile on the vineyard. Employees are great and I loved the lack of "chain hotels" so you can really feel a part of the area. Great atmosphere and a wine festival right outside its doors. Made me wanna skip my conference.
