Enjoyed a short getaway at the Vineyard. The suite was comfortable & quiet. Our balcony was perfect for enjoying a glass of wine looking at the harbor. Bed very comfortable. Covid policy has a continental breakfast delivered outside your door in the morning. Staff will clean your room if you'd like but we chose to just pick up fresh towels & made our bed ourselves.

The breakfast was such a highlight-- with plenty of healthy options!

Perfect boutique waterside escape! I spent the weekend at Vineyard Square-- and wow, what an idyllic experience! I had high expectations of both the town and the hotel itself, and all were exceeded. The hotel: We stayed in a king room in the hotel, and we had absolutely everything we needed. Immediately I fell in love with the soap, which comes in dispensers (so much better for the environment!) and which smells/felt like vacation. If there has been a gift shop, I would have purchased 5-10 bottles of the stuff to take home. Through the windows in our room we could see the water, and there is pretty much nothing better than that! We also enjoyed all of the amenities, including being able to borrow beach chairs, towels, and bikes. It was so stress free to have everything we needed for recreation, and to be able to drop sandy damp towels off without a care in the world after a couple hours on the beach. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we felt very taken care of. Finally, let's talk about breakfast. WOW. I knew breakfast was included, but I expected something fairly ordinary (eggs, bacon, maybe a few bagels and muffins). What I found was a beautiful brunch where each thing tasted better than the last. The highlights for me included fresh brewed coffee from Dave's (a Rhode Island classic), the ham and cheese croissants, and the Mexican street corn breakfast toast. Okay, this toast-- I will be dreaming about it for weeks. I've never had anything just like it. It was fresh and savory and just the right hint of spice. I've attached a photo, but honestly you just have to try it. I'd love a postcard with this recipe to take with me as a souvenir! The town/location: We were right in the middle of everything-- directly off of the Main Street with tons of shopping and food, and a block off of the harbor with water views. We were also a very easy walk from beautiful Lighthouse Beach, which felt really calm and secluded, even for being a town beach! We enjoyed a spectacular dinner at a restaurant directly behind the hotel called Detante. Next time I'd love to take advantage of all the great shopping in town-- but the weather was way too nice to stay indoors this weekend! All in all, I loved my stay, and I can't wait to go back. Seriously, you will feel like you are escaping into a delicious beach read. Try it, and don't forget to try the Mexican corn toast!!!

Came here for a wedding weekend stayed for 3 nights. Impeccable service, between the front desk staff, bell hop/porter. Beverly who helped with breakfast and all other needs, everyone was very attentive. Great free breakfast many options and beverage options. Convenient parking lot not far away and plenty of parking. Nice lobby, very clean and large veranda around the front of the hotel. Has that elegant charm you don't find many places. Will come back.

Ask the Community - Vineyard Square Hotel and Suites

Hi, we are at the ferry and was wondering what are the options to get to the hotel?

Any of the taxis at the ferry terminal are the best way to get to the hotel. It's about a 15 minute drive.

Josie was simply a highly professional and accommodating person. She truly understands what it means to make people feel special and was able to handle a few of our requests with ease! There are no elevators , so be prepared to get some great exercise if your lucky enough that access the third floor. The property is very well maintained. Great location too. Very central access to waking Edgartown - and easy access to the many island highlights. Side note : Being a huge fan of JAWS, I was so delighted to determine this property was shooting location along Water street it was shown in the scene where Brody walked to the hardware store across from the bike store which now houses a great coffee shop. The only caveat to booking at The Christopher is the very steep narrow staircase to the upper floors. A second handrail would be a good safety measure. These stairs would prohibit some from being able to access the upstairs rooms.

Me and my fiancé just had an intimate wedding in Edgartown. Our family and toddler stood at this hotel since our hotel did not allow kids. Never had I felt staff lack hospitality, common sense or courtesy like the staff at the Kelly House. One example, my dad (who is blind) had just checked out at 11 am and he left his bags at the lobby. At 12 noon he wanted to use a restroom was denied access since "he checked out". Was told to "find somewhere outside that has a bathroom". Never asked to help with luggage. Never opened doors. Never made eye contact or a hello, or a good morning. Continental breakfast normally consist of more than two items. In this case it was burnt coffee and some sweet muffin for which you have to ask for one by one. If your in a group of 4 or 5 and one person asks for a muffin don't you think you should ask if others from the group want any? So let's say you're an introvert who doesn't care about courtesy or a false advertised continental breakfast, or any form of hospitality. You just want a clean/nice place to sleep and leave. Well this place is not it. You have to tell the staff to clean. They only cleaned our room once during a 4 night stay.

I was a bit hesitant afterwards, as their location in Edgartown is several miles away from the ferry terminal. However, after our stay, this was not a concern. Edgartown is somewhat quieter and a bit less 'touristy' to me (though the town largely caters to tourists). One thing that drew me to this property also was the expense vs. ratings. Many other similarly (or lower) rated places were much more expensive. It is all relative on the island, but this, to me, was a good value. I was a bit apprehensive also about getting checked in, as our ferry reservations were such that we would barely arrive by their 5 p.m. front-office closing time. They confirmed that they could leave the key in an envelope for us, but that always seems slightly problematic. However, it all worked out and we did arrive at 5 p.m. The innkeeper was assisting other guests so our key was in an envelope anyway, but she showed up about 3 minutes later to ensure everything was fine and took time to explain anything extra about the room. The site is about 1 block from the edge of the town's commercial district, so walking anywhere in town is easy. Parking is not expansive, but you just need to park parallel to a fence adjacent to your room. This was never a difficulty while we were there. The area was quiet also; not much noise to disturb you. The room itself was well equipped. There was a small kitchenette and a dinette table, along with a sitting area (with a fold-out couch). When the couch was folded out, the room was a bit cramped (but that is when you're sleeping, mostly). The couch-bed involved an air mattress that was easy to inflate. The adjoining bedroom was also a bit small, but adequate. Everything was clean and appeared well-maintained. In all, the only limiting factor here was room-size, but I was also unwilling to pay $100 (or more) a night for more space. It was a slight compromise, but worth it. If I returned to the island, I'd consider staying here again.

Here are the three things I enjoyed most about this historic hotel: 1. Our room looked out to the Edgartown Lighthouse and the views were very peaceful no matter the time of day. It was also nice that we could easily walk over to the lighthouse and beach to get a closer view of the circa 1828 structure. The lighthouse wasn't open when we visited but we still enjoyed walking around it. 2. The hotel was within walking distance from the shops and restaurants in Edgartown. We enjoyed admiring all of the lovely homes along the way. The hotel was also within a very short walk to walking distance to the Carnegie Heritage Center and the Chappy Ferry. 3. I love American history and architecture so I enjoyed staying in this 100+ year old hotel that is fully renovated to offer modern amenities. I personally enjoyed walking up the original steep stairs, admiring the banisters and balusters and feeling the unevenness of a well settled hotel under foot. (But if that isn't your thing, don't worry, there is an elevator.) This hotel reminds me a lot of the quaint beachside hotel on the Seaside Hotel television series (aired on PBS in the US and originally Denmark's public service channel). We were fortunate to stay in a corner suite with many windows. We enjoyed the natural light during the day and we were thankful for turndown service at night to close all of those curtains! We also appreciated that there was several places to sit in our room to just relax. Since we were on MV during the shoulder season and it was unseasonably cool, the hotel was not very busy. We enjoyed the stillness of the building and chatting with the friendly staff daily. Since it was chilly when we visited a soak in a hot tub would have been nice. If the hotel has a hot tub we didn't see it but they were in process of getting the pool ready for the busy summer season. Overall, this was a very relaxing and luxurious stay.
