Perfect stay at a perfect (for us) hotel. Historic charm, Super convenient location, pristine room with lovely details (super comfy bed) and warm and helpful clerk (who graciously upgraded us to a king suite upon hearing of my husbands birthday...and of course availability). Room 11, 3rd floor has two entries to a large balcony (with chairs) and a fabulous view with peaks of the water. For those with mobility issues this may not be for you as the stairs are narrow and steep (there is one queen room on the first floor). Nice to offer a small breakfast selection of danish and fruit, but it's not going to fill your belly :) My only other tiny peeve is that the sheets were a thin tencel fabric, which, while super silky, are not helpful for us women with temperature control issues :) I look forward to returning to this Edgartown gem!

    The morning spread.

My cousin was getting married in Martha's Vineyard and there were so many hotels listed on her website it was hard to choose. My family and I ended up choosing The Christopher for its central location in downtown Edgartown. We truly had no idea what to expect. In all honesty, it's probably the most money I've ever spent on a hotel, but I do love staying at boutique hotels for the unique experience. I am aN ambassador for Marriott so it's not often I stay in anything but. I was truly looking forward to this one specifically. A few days before we were scheduled to check in, I got a text message from them asking me a few questions about our reservation. For instance, we had our one year old with us and he needed to sleep in a pack and play. They said they had one available, which was great. One less thing to travel with. We traveled all morning and I was getting nervous about what time I'd be able to nap him since it said our check-in time was 4 PM. They allowed for us to check in when we got there at noon. They also upgraded us to a bigger room at no cost knowing that we had our son. The only issue was, it was right next to the check in so at times it could be loud, but it didn't bother us at all and we loved the extra space. The location is perfect seeing as that it is right downtown and within walking distance to so much. The service was great, Josie was the front desk receptionist who was there the most often and she was so sweet and helpful. The check-in process couldn't be more easy. They have you pay half of your reservation upon booking, and the rest when you arrive. They also have a plated breakfast with coffee and tea each morning which I didn't even know about, it was really delicious and healthy. There was hard boiled eggs, yogurt parfaits, chia pudding, yogurt, smoked salmon on toast, etc. They will keep the coffee and tea out until about 11 AM. They have a beautiful outside patio in the back with a fire pit. It's easy to miss, you actually have to go out front and walk around in order to access it. They have a great area in the front with chairs you can sit on and watch the beauty of Martha's Vineyard passing by. The room itself was very lovely. They also have a water station so you can fill up your water and not have to pay a bunch of money on buying multiple water bottles. The only thing I would say that would be somewhat negative is that we bought a carton of milk for my son, and it didn't hold overnight because the refrigerator just wasn't strong enough. I didn't complain but I did let them know when we left so the next guest would not have to deal with that. Overall, I enjoyed this stay. It was very expensive, but it was a very luxurious experience and worth it. If ever back in Edgartown, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This is by far one of my favorite Bed and Breakfasts I have ever stayed at! Marla, the manager, is so welcoming and a great help for things to do in the area. The bedding is so comfortable and the room was impeccable. All the small touches made everything so bright and welcoming. I will definitely come back! Thank you Lark Hotels for such a great stay!!

We were immediately greeted and checked in. They had just finished their milk and cookie hour, but the lady was nice enough to get me some cookies to snack on since we were starving. The hotel doesn't have an elevator, but it's only three floors and the staff assisted with the bags The room was big and clean. The bed was comfortable. The toiletries were great. They lathered well and smelled great. The room didn't look dated like some of the reviews stated, but I think I read they had just been remodeled. I definitely recommend this hotel. Don't look anywhere else. Tip: There's a few liquor stores nearby if you're looking for inexpensive drinks There's a fast food sea food restaurant (Quarterdeck) right across the street from the bar that serves food late into the night

Me and my fiancé just had an intimate wedding in Edgartown. Our family and toddler stood at this hotel since our hotel did not allow kids. Never had I felt staff lack hospitality, common sense or courtesy like the staff at the Kelly House. One example, my dad (who is blind) had just checked out at 11 am and he left his bags at the lobby. At 12 noon he wanted to use a restroom was denied access since "he checked out". Was told to "find somewhere outside that has a bathroom". Never asked to help with luggage. Never opened doors. Never made eye contact or a hello, or a good morning. Continental breakfast normally consist of more than two items. In this case it was burnt coffee and some sweet muffin for which you have to ask for one by one. If your in a group of 4 or 5 and one person asks for a muffin don't you think you should ask if others from the group want any? So let's say you're an introvert who doesn't care about courtesy or a false advertised continental breakfast, or any form of hospitality. You just want a clean/nice place to sleep and leave. Well this place is not it. You have to tell the staff to clean. They only cleaned our room once during a 4 night stay.

I was a bit hesitant afterwards, as their location in Edgartown is several miles away from the ferry terminal. However, after our stay, this was not a concern. Edgartown is somewhat quieter and a bit less 'touristy' to me (though the town largely caters to tourists). One thing that drew me to this property also was the expense vs. ratings. Many other similarly (or lower) rated places were much more expensive. It is all relative on the island, but this, to me, was a good value. I was a bit apprehensive also about getting checked in, as our ferry reservations were such that we would barely arrive by their 5 p.m. front-office closing time. They confirmed that they could leave the key in an envelope for us, but that always seems slightly problematic. However, it all worked out and we did arrive at 5 p.m. The innkeeper was assisting other guests so our key was in an envelope anyway, but she showed up about 3 minutes later to ensure everything was fine and took time to explain anything extra about the room. The site is about 1 block from the edge of the town's commercial district, so walking anywhere in town is easy. Parking is not expansive, but you just need to park parallel to a fence adjacent to your room. This was never a difficulty while we were there. The area was quiet also; not much noise to disturb you. The room itself was well equipped. There was a small kitchenette and a dinette table, along with a sitting area (with a fold-out couch). When the couch was folded out, the room was a bit cramped (but that is when you're sleeping, mostly). The couch-bed involved an air mattress that was easy to inflate. The adjoining bedroom was also a bit small, but adequate. Everything was clean and appeared well-maintained. In all, the only limiting factor here was room-size, but I was also unwilling to pay $100 (or more) a night for more space. It was a slight compromise, but worth it. If I returned to the island, I'd consider staying here again.

Here are the three things I enjoyed most about this historic hotel: 1. Our room looked out to the Edgartown Lighthouse and the views were very peaceful no matter the time of day. It was also nice that we could easily walk over to the lighthouse and beach to get a closer view of the circa 1828 structure. The lighthouse wasn't open when we visited but we still enjoyed walking around it. 2. The hotel was within walking distance from the shops and restaurants in Edgartown. We enjoyed admiring all of the lovely homes along the way. The hotel was also within a very short walk to walking distance to the Carnegie Heritage Center and the Chappy Ferry. 3. I love American history and architecture so I enjoyed staying in this 100+ year old hotel that is fully renovated to offer modern amenities. I personally enjoyed walking up the original steep stairs, admiring the banisters and balusters and feeling the unevenness of a well settled hotel under foot. (But if that isn't your thing, don't worry, there is an elevator.) This hotel reminds me a lot of the quaint beachside hotel on the Seaside Hotel television series (aired on PBS in the US and originally Denmark's public service channel). We were fortunate to stay in a corner suite with many windows. We enjoyed the natural light during the day and we were thankful for turndown service at night to close all of those curtains! We also appreciated that there was several places to sit in our room to just relax. Since we were on MV during the shoulder season and it was unseasonably cool, the hotel was not very busy. We enjoyed the stillness of the building and chatting with the friendly staff daily. Since it was chilly when we visited a soak in a hot tub would have been nice. If the hotel has a hot tub we didn't see it but they were in process of getting the pool ready for the busy summer season. Overall, this was a very relaxing and luxurious stay.
