We came across this little place while looking for a hotel, the price seemed too good to be true at only $68. We arrived and was warmly welcomed by the woman working the front desk. She showed us to our room and pictures don't do it justice, we stayed in the old "sewing room." Extremely clean, bottles of water and your own Keurig included in the stay, and plenty of toiletries. Austin at the front desk was the most congenial, helpful, and attentive person I have ever met. He gave us a tour and even showed us one of the haunted rooms! I found this place through Google Hotels and got a really good deal on a room for the girlfriend's birthday. My review is a bit different as I did not come here for a particular event, but I found the Inn very relaxing. The room is small and really does have that old feel to it. I kinda wish it did not have a TV but I guess you have to have some current amenities. We stayed in the Rose room. It comes with a Queen Size bed and claw foot bathtub in the room that my girlfriend loved. I would make sure you really love the person you are sharing the room with because the toilet and tub are in the same room and the toilet is only separated by a divider (other rooms have the bathroom in a separate room). The bed was one of the more comfortable beds I have slept in away from home. There is a porch that runs the full length of the front and back of the building which are covered with rocking chairs and tables. This is a really nice place to relax, we ended up making cocktails and sitting out here for a couple of hours. The property is quite large with numerous cabin style suites and a huge back patio area for dinners, complete with a fire pit. Running along side the property is the Cibolo trail for hiking, we did not go down there but it looked nice from what I could tell if that is your thing. The desk employees are super friendly and accommodating, all in all I would not hesitate to come back here again. Side Notes. Everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING) in Boerne closes at 9 pm. Also the walls here are a bit thin so keep that in mind if you are going to make any noise. read more

My first instinct was to give this inn four stars, because from the first time I arrived, I fell in love with it. But, I dialed it down a bit for a few reasons: (a) I've an avowed lover of B&Bs, but despite that fact, I always get a little giddy when I first arrive. I must learn to reserve judgment until after I've stayed the night. (b) I was here for work, so I really only saw four areas of the inn: the conference room, the courtyard, the dining room and my bedroom... five if you'd like to count the bathroom near the conference room. (c) I only stayed one night -- very literally, a total of 24 hours. I can't give 4 stars based on such limited exposure. That all being said, from what I saw of Ye Kendall Inn, I'm a big fan. The place takes up a good amount of real estate in the heart of Boerne, and I actually don't believe I fully grasped how large the property was until I was on my way home. Many of the rooms face out to the town square where -wouldn't you know it? - a local market day had convened. I'll refrain from gushing about small town Texas life. My room faced out to a sprawling courtyard in which someone was having a wedding reception. After having returned from a work dinner, it was a bit odd to walk through the remnants of someone's wedding reception, but that's the only way I could get to my room. I'm not sure what was to blame: the red wine with dinner, the late hour, the long hours I'd worked, my crap sense of direction or the actual way the hotel is situated. On the up side, though, it was very late and the wedding party was, at this point, just the bride, groom, a couple of attendants and some unruly, over-caffeinated kids. The room itself was the Schoenfeld suite - it was fantastically huge, with a ginormous four poster bed and antique couch in the sitting area. There was an old copper doorknob and guess what? A real key! There was also a sprawling fireplace in the room, which made me wish my stay hadn't been in the dead of summer, and a solo trip at that. It was very, how you say? Romantical. Even with the abundance of doilies and florals. The bed was so tall I nearly required a step stool, and lying amidst the abundance of pillow felt obscenely luxurious. The bathroom had a great claw foot tub and a modern toilet retrofit with a wall-mounted tank with a pull handle. No kidding. How flipping awesome is that? I, unfortunately, can't speak too much to the breakfast, which is generally my favorite part of the B&B experience. I had to rise entirely too early (stupid work) and had to blaze through breakfast. I'll also mention I'd had a fight with my then-boyfriend over the phone and was nursing a minor hangover. Breakfast the next morning was a function of need, not an exploratory experience. All in all, I'm down with returning should I drop by Boerne again. read more

We stayed in the Lancaster 1 cabin and it was perfect. Claire was so helpful when we arrived and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, even meeting us at the room to let us in personally. The room was beautiful, with a very comfortable bed and pillows. There is a separate small room with a twin bed that was just right for our teenager. The shower was really big and the the bathroom had an extra small mirror attached to the wall- a really nice touch. The grounds are well kept and just lovely. A place you must stay!!! Rooms are amazing with so much character! The grounds are quaint and beautiful with a quiet peaceful setting. Beautiful art work in the main lobby and the Inn is surrounded by a very nice park along with great shops and restaurant!! The ladies in the front are beyond nice and accommodating and do what ever is needed to make sure your stay is perfect! Beds are very comfortable and the rooms are super clean! We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay and cannot wait to return again so we can explore more of the hill country! We had our children with us and they treated them so kindly! I came here for a wedding and I ended up getting so much more from everyone I met in Boerne. The Kendall is a well established place with many rooms and unique buildings. The setting is lovely, but honestly, the best were the people at The Kendall (and Peggy's, the restaurant). Josh settled us into our room and was eager to help with anything needed. Our internet wasn't working and he assisted with that. Today, I asked if they had laundry facilities and Alex took care of us on that end. We reported a poor drainage situation with our shower and Alex immediately took care of that. Friendly Mary at the front desk, pitched right in wanting to know if she could do anything for us or if we needed anything. Last but as they say, "definitely, not least," kudos go to housekeeping. It was bloody hot for the 4 days we were here in Boerne and we always had water supplied (without a fee) and our room taken care of. read more

I surprised my wife with a 2-day Valentine's Day get-away and booked the Erastus Reed Grand Suite. The suite includes a large bedroom with vintage furnishings and cool, unique accessories. Large windows provide great views of the park and lot's of natural light. The bathroom is absolutely huge with large shower, clawfoot tub, fireplace, vanity and cosmetic desk. Well appointed with towels and high end shower/tub soaps, shampoo and conditioner. The service was equally impressive. Knowing my wife and I have trouble navigating stairs, Alex helped us up the stairs with our luggage after checking us in. He then moved his truck so we could park right out front. He didn't stop there - we requested a refrigerator and he searched the hotel and brought one up to us within an hour. During the stay he asked how we were, if everything was up to expectation and provided pleasant conversation. Upon departure, Mary helped us with the luggage and provided a heartfelt good-bye and thank you. The Kendall will provide you with the southern hospitality and accommodations you desire. read more

We only stayed for one short night, but the inn is beautiful! We stayed the night of our wedding in the St. John's church and I fell in love with it. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because of the hassle and unprofessionalism of the check in process. Since we were getting married that day, we wanted to check in early to avoid the process after the fact. We were given the keys earlier in the day, but were still told we could not actually check in until after 3 (which didn't really make sense to me). With our wedding being at 5...this was an issue, but what could we do? So we opted to just check in after the wedding. After our arrival at the inn at around 1130pm my husband and I waited for about 20 minutes in the lobby waiting for someone to come to the front desk to check us in, but no one came despite the "we will be right back" sign on the counter. After being completely exhausted and STILL in my wedding dress, my husband went to the bar to ask the bartender if there was anyone who could check us in. Turns out the front desk attendant was at the bar the whole time drinking! She was wasted and swaying and slurring and giggling throughout the whole check in process!!! I was not happy nor impressed by the whole situation. I'm sure she was having an off day, but having had worked in the hotel business before as a concierge, this behaviour was totally unprofessional and appalling. I hope her manager reads this and addresses the issue. I would not want my beautiful inn to be spoiled by the face of sloppy drunkenness. read more

My sister in law gave us a gift certificate for a night her as well as a meal at there restaurant. Don't tell anyone else, but it may have been our favorite gift. This place is beautiful from the minute you walk into the lobby. To one side is a restaurant and to the other side is a wine store. We went in the wine store and were and Nate (i think that was his name) helped us find a perfect bottle of Russian River Chardonnay. He then took us to the bar and got us an ice bucket & a wine glass so we could have some in our cabin. He even through in a Kit Kat for my husband who is more of a sweet tooth then a drinker. We knew we were off to a great start. We stayed in the Enchanted cabin, which is quite old and will make you feel like you are on a movie set. There was a great claw foot bath tub i had to try. Now I want one for my house. The place was adorable and the staff was beyond excellent. Everyone we encountered was really friendly. We plan on going back in the fall when it a little cooler to take advantage of the huge hot tub. read more

Similar to other reviewers, I was delighted when I first approached Ye Kendall Inn. It is a charming, stately place with a nice lawn and walking trail right by the riverside. However, it was lacking a few things I hold dear when spending the night somewhere. 1. Customer service. Check in was smooth and we were given a handy map of the property, directions about where my husband's conference would be, and told how to access our room after hours because the many lobby closes at night. I later went to the restaurant for dinner (at the recommendation of the literature we had been given upon arrival) and was informed that the kitchen was closed at 9pm. "Surprising" I said, "because your literature says it is open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday night." Three people told me I was mistaken and that they would stay open for me, but they would not stay open for my husband to join me in a few minutes. Nor would they serve the other 30 people in a conference with him. Many of them were staying at the same hotel. Well, call me old fashioned, but I'm not a fan of sharing my meals post-facto. We are not birds. I thought perhaps I was doing the kitchen a favor by saying that they might get a rush in about ten minutes, but they were adamant that nothing else would be served that night. No one apologized that I might be hungry, or that their literature was incorrect (I took the manager to the front desk and we reviewed the literature together), or that they might be sorry for being rude to me when I was simply acting according to what I'd been told. We ordered pizza. Less romantic than a dinner at the bar? Yes. 2. Amenities. I love free wifi and am pleased that YKI offered access so that my husband and I could watch a movie while eating our pizza. I also appreciated the shampoo and hair dryer, and the complimentary coffee service in the room. So points for that! But a few basics were sadly missing, namely: - A do not disturb sign (this is important!) - A functional room heater (ours set off the smoke alarm) - An extra blanket or two ( I know this is Texas, but hill country can still get a little chilly at night) - A book of amenities/services (the pamphlet we received seemed to be inaccurate in one or two ways) - A postcard or stationary. I know this is over the top and an extra expense, but I love writing letters to my friend on hotel stationary and/or postcards. She'll confirm, when I'm in a B&B romantic kind of mood (or even if I'm in a poopy mood and there is hotel stationary) I'll still make the effort to send her something. She lives only three hours from YKI and might actually visit on a long weekend, if only she had known about it. The outdoor courtyard is probably great for weddings. It is nicely lit at night, and there is a cozy fireplace out there. The restaurant is probably large enough to seat many more people than could possibly stay at the Inn (as long as you arrive on time!) The conference room area looked quite nice from my brief wanderings, and it is an easy walk to lots of shopping and restaurants. But be warned: literally everything closes early. Most shops close by 5pm and most restaurants by 9pm, so if you're coming from a Western time zone, get yourself somewhere for an early supper, or prepare yourself for delivery pizza. read more

Ye Kendall Inn is a charming and romantic hotel. The grounds are quiet and the balconies are a charming place to sit and look out on the peaceful green across the street. I loved my room which is one of the original rooms and it was beautiful and charming to stay in. The front desk staff is personable and always ready to help. The art decorating the lobby and upstairs landing is beautiful and you can take any home and the price was right for me to chose a picture of a horse which was sent to my home. I throughly enjoyed my 2 night stay and will definitely return when I go back to visit with my friends who live there. read more

Absolutely love our stay at this hotel. We stayed at the Time Life room and it was great. I thought the bed was going to be rough, but it was very comfortable. The building is old and you can see it but we didn't mind it at all. The service at the front desk was very helpful when we asked him questions about Boerne, places to eat, etc. he even corrected the charges with no hassle when I brought up that it's suppose to be a different price. When we got to our room, it was like coming home to see your grandparents (nice and clean grandparents). We will definitely come back and stay here again! read more

Wow, I stumbled upon this place randomly while walking the pathway in Boerne. I love Boerne and enjoy spending my weekend mornings there. My kids were out of town so I figured "why not?" and went in. They had a few rooms available and they showed me them. I had my choice. I got this amazing cottage (Enchanted Room, I believe). The cottage had a huge claw foot tub, space to do a few cartwheels (or at least attempt them), and an inviting bed. It was beautiful and the central location in Boerne can't be beat. I will be back for a longer stay in the future. The only feature I used was the hot tub and- let me tell you- you could do laps in it AND it was hot. Usually big hot tubs have a tendency to be cold. The friendly staff, beautiful accommodations, and location made it a perfect stay. I can't wait to come back! read more

My husband and I had a situation late one evening after eating dinner next door . We discovered our tire was flat on our brand new car ! Called AAA and was told 1 1/2 wait. We had pulled into the front of the Inn to see if for sure tire flat and perhaps we could take care of ... this is where truly CUSTOMER CARE COMES IN !! This was at about 11:30 in the evening . Night desk clerk Cindy walked out to inquire if we were checking in . Explained our dilemma . Said rooms were available if we chose to just stay. BUT I had been traveling all day and really wanted to be home .... CINDY PROCEEDS TO CHANGE OUR TIRE !!!! We tried to tell her no, but she was UNBELIEVABLE!!!! SHE HAD THAT SPARE OUTNIC THE TRUNK IN NO TIME SND ON OUR CAR AND HANDED US TWO BOTTLED OF WATER FOR THE ROAD !!! Said her daddy taught her when she was little how to change a tire !!! Recently, we stayed for two nights in one of their cabins for a rehearsal and wedding in the courtyard. We experienced problems from the very beginning. 1. I called a couple of months ahead to reserve a room within the block of rooms reserved for the wedding party. I thought I reserved a room for the price of $129 with no chance of the price increasing. A month later, the mother of bride said I reserved in a CABIN for $139. I don't care if its only $10. It's the principal. What's the point of requesting anything, if they are just going to put you where ever they want anyways. The cabin was not in the block of rooms reserved by the bridal party. If all the rooms were not reserved, the bridal party would be responsible for paying for any empty rooms. When I call ahead there were plenty of rooms. The Inn is definitely keeping an eye out only for themselves. 2. We stayed in the Cottage House. I appreciate the history of entire Inn but the cabin is no longer stables or a servant's quarters-enclose the darn bathroom completely. No one wants to hear someone else use the bathroom so they need to do everyone a favor enclose it on the top. 3. We needed an extra thick blanket for the pull out couch, extra sheets for the pack and play, and towels. You're better off just asking for them in the lobby and waiting for the items yourself. Or you can request items in the morning and receive them after lunch sometime. 3. The Inn put a hold on my card for the entire two night stay. They didn't inform us at check in or check out that a hold may be place on our acct. Its annoying to look at your bank acct and know that you already paid one night way in advance, someone else paid a second night and you still see a hold for the entire two night stay that no one on the staff thought to say anything about. So unless you're Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, don't expect top service. read more
