My husband and I came here this weekend for a little getaway with a few friends who have visited before. They gave Hotel Faust such high praise that we decided to come with them to see what this was all about. This being our first bed and breakfast experience, I have to admit that I think all others will fall short. We have been blown away by our stay. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Chris and one of the new managers. For two nights our room (Giles) was less than $350. She showed us to our room and walked us through how this all worked. The room we stayed in (Giles) was very spacious and comfortable. We loved the decor and the renovate bathroom -- The shower, especially. Breakfast was served in the carriage house and was delicious and homecooked. The room was not large, but we did not feel crowded. It was nice to interact with the owners and other guests. We loved that Hotel Faust was located on high street, right in the middle of all the action. It is walking distance from numerous antique stores and quaint restaurants. Ask owner, Chris, for recommendations, he is full of them. Our stay was wonderful and relaxing. We felt like a member of the family. I can't wait to come back and stay again. read more

What I was doing in Comfort, TX of all places? Well I was running a trail race at Flat Rock Ranch and I needed a place to stay. Actually I didn't know much about camping so I had to find a hotel room. I actually found the last hotel room available in Hotel Faust. When you book with them, they charge 50% of the accommodation fee and then days before you arrive, they charge the remaining. Hotel Faust is located in the Comfort Historic District where they have a lot of antique stores and few restaurants in the area walking distance from Hotel Faust. The hotel is in a historic building from the 1800s. My hotel room, called the Faust, was small but it was fine and clean. There was plenty of outside seating area where you can hangout. Unfortunately it was hot when I stayed there so I didn't take advantage of the outdoor seating area. They also give you vouchers for High Cafe & Store for breakfast everyday during your stay. Of course I took advantage of that. There's also plenty of free parking on the street. read more

I was staying in the Comfort vicinity for a wedding at Spinelli's. After a highly disappointing Airbnb experience, I checked into Hotel Faust for a more comfortable stay, and I was amazed! Hotel Faust is such a lovely place to stay in Comfort, and I really enjoyed my stay there. ROOMS: I appreciated the "stress-free" check in and check out that Hotel Faust uses. The rooms were exceptionally clean and well decorated. According to the card in my room, the room had been recently renovated and it was absolutely stunning! The room had a coffee maker, fresh filtered water, and water bottles for my enjoyment. The shower was amazingly luxurious and the toiletries provided were a step above what one usually receives in hotels. The bed was amazing as well - I slept like a rock after a long night of wedding festivities! LOCATION: Hotel Faust is located right in "downtown" Comfort. As a verified city slicker, I loved that I could walk to the coffee shops and antique stores when I wanted. Additionally, there is ample street parking right in front of the hotel, which was excellent. I would recommend Hotel Faust to anyone staying in Comfort! read more

We came in to town for a wedding at Spinelli's. Hotel Faust was a perfect location. Maybe 3 blocks from the wedding venue. They have a fantastic check-in/ information process. You get a text with all the details you need after you book the room. I also received a welcome email... and a phone call. It was great. When we arrived we found our room easily even with the lobby closed. It was clean, spacious (even for a small room), and everything was great. Overall-- everything was great. You can't go wrong staying here :) Two recommendations-- 1) Check the bed in the Karger room. The mattress had a huge dip in it. We didn't sleep well at all. Was horrible. Would give 5 stars minus the bed. 2) Maybe send a thank you email at check-out and ask if there was any feedback, then provide a receipt. Thank you. Would stay here again if in Comfort. read more

This gem, located in Comfort, Texas, was such a sweet getaway. We stayed in a cabin with two bedrooms and a large bathroom. The room also had a sitting area that was quite comfortable. I think my favorite part of the whole stay was the chair on the front porch where we could sit and enjoy the crisp morning air or the evening breeze. I felt more like I was in a friend's home than in a hotel. The comforts of coffee maker and bottled water, lovely toiletries, and top of the line linens, made our stay even more enjoyable. I do not even know where to start in this review. If I could leave NO stars, I would. Last night we were in Comfort for Christmas in Comfort. Aside from having family that settled that town, I also have a grandmother that owned a business there for over a decade. We have family that still lives there; needless to say, Comfort holds a special place in our hearts. We had invited some friends to come out for the festivities, and being that they had never been, we told them to expect nothing but small town hospitality and the best Christmas parade they had ever seen! Thank God one of those things panned out. Our friends are deaf, and the mother is a two time cancer survivor. They had forgotten to bring chairs, so I suggested they sit behind us on the stairs near the hotel entrance. Our friend and her husband sat down, one in front of the other, making sure to leave room for people walking in and out. The manager of the hotel came over and asked them to move since they were not staying there. Being that it was already so crowded, and they were NOT in the way, I went and explained the situation to the manager. First she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. Then after a second, she explained that she couldn't have people just sitting all over their entrance, which is why she told them to move. I told her it was just two of them, and that they would not be in anyone's way. She agreed to let them stay. Not long into the parade, she went back over and told them AGAIN that they needed to move. After we had already seemingly resolved the situation. Being that both our friends are deaf, they were very confused. I am DISGUSTED at the way she treated them. She said that it was so that some hotel guests could sit there, but no one ever came to take their place. It is beyond sad that they were treated so poorly, especially when we had been telling them for weeks of the kindness always shown in the little town of Comfort. The manager (if that is who she is), should be completely ashamed of herself and the way she handled that situation. It is sad that common courtesy and a little kindness was not extended during a season of giving. I hope that the manager, and the owners, read this. And I hope that in reading this, you realize you had an opportunity to show kindness and grace (during the Christmas season), and you blew it. It really is a shame and embarrassment to such a wonderful town. read more

Lovely, B&B. I hope to be back! My friends and I chose Hotel Faust for our couple's trip to the Bending Branch winery in Comfort Texas. Our room was comfortable, and easy to access and enjoy. It was convenient to find, and very close to some Comfort restaurants and the Comfort Meet Market (cool bar). Pros: convenient, not crowded, and very well kept. Cons: the window for breakfast is only 9-930 am, and the coffee wasn't fresh. Otherwise, perfect place! read more

Loved our stay here! The room was clean, cozy and very comfortable. We almost missed the Sunday brunch, but the owners were so very kind and got what was left out for us after they had just out it all away. They even fixed our plate for us which was delicious French toast, bacon, fresh fruit, yogurt, and juice! I've never gotten such personal treatment at any other hotel. They took the time to visit with us while we ate and we thoroughly enjoyed the conversation. I highly recommend this hotel. read more

We booked the entire Hotel Faust for our wedding party, and it was an incredible weekend. We stayed at the Ingenhuett Log Cabin, and I kind of wish I lived there full time. I did not want to leave, and I am already daydreaming about when I can go back. The place was charming and the room was beautiful. We were visiting Fredericksburg and came across this place as an option that's not too far from Fredericksburg and doesn't have the high price! It's such a charming place with great commodities that are all you need for an overnight stay! The property is so cute and the rooms were spacious and more, such a good deal for the price we paid compared to Fredericksburg! We booked a night here for a friend's wedding in Comfort, TX and couldn't seem to find a hotel anywhere in the city that wasn't miles out so we decided to choose Hotel Faust after reading other reviews. We drove from San Antonio and stayed in a very mediocre hotel- this place blew it out the water. I cannot say enough good things about Hotel Faust! The pictures can't capture how this place makes you feel, it was by far one of the most charming places I have stayed in as far as hotels or airbnb's go - I didn't want to leave. Everything was so clean, the bedding was amazing (I think they sell their sheets too) they offered coffee, had a ginormous full sized mirror and offered a coloring book for adults which was such a nice touch. We checked out by 11 and walked over to cafe's across the street to grab breakfast (They had some cinnamon rolls at the hotel which I couldn't eat) and visited a few antique shops before making our way back to Austin the next morning. If you are ever in comfort or just passing by I would absolutely recommend Hotel Faust- it made the stay in such a quaint little town all the better read more

What a wonderful place to stay. The bed was so comfortable and the sheets were the best I have ever slept on. Very satisfied with all the amenities. We had a bit of bad weather, and the innkeeper Elizabeth, called to check on us to make sure that we were okay. She went above and beyond to accommodate us during the storm. It was her personal care that will have us coming back again and again. If you're looking for an off the beaten path sort of place this is where you want to be. Definitely updated where it matters, but lovely, gracious nods to the hotel's past in the little touches -lamps, side pieces. Not overly cutesy, like you sometimes find in a b&b.... My room was also next to the dining room, so I woke up in the coziest bed to the faint yet delicious aroma of the friendly staff making my breakfast-the best kind of alarm clock. Come visit Comfort. We were in Comfort for a friend's wedding and booked rooms with a group of friends at the Hotel Faust, a delightful historic spot that helped make our weekend perfect. The room we were in was small but comfortable, with a wonderfully supportive bed and nice linens. The hotel provided good coffee and bottled water in the room, and the toiletries were a step up from standard hotel shampoo and soap. Breakfast snacks were served daily in the hotel lobby--a cozy living room with a fireplace and Christmas tree. I recommend the kolaches and cinnamon rolls. Fresh fruit and whole milk yogurt made a lovely start to our day. We enjoyed visiting with the owner, who had excellent suggestions about how to spend our free morning in town. They're doing some work to open a few more guest rooms in upcoming months. She even gave me a call after I left to inform me that I forgot my watch in the room and to make a plan for its return. I highly recommend a stop in charming Comfort and a stay at the Hotel Faust when you next find yourself in the Hill Country. read more

While this appears to be a lovely hotel the management is inhospitable. I am a 70 year old man who is disabled and I suffer from diabetes. At a moment of sever physical distress I asked to use a bathroom. I was told that they did not have any bathrooms and I was somewhat rudely asked to leave. I find it hard to believe that a hotel does not have bathrooms. AndI was surprised to be treated with such inconsideration when I was clearly in distress. I have many friends who visit me here in the hill country but I will never recommend this hotel in an other lovely and hospitable town. read more

Beware!!! I worked here when I was a teenager and the owner, Brian, was very inappropriate. He hit on me constantly. His wife, Diane, became very jealous and hostile. We were hosting an event, and Brian asked his friend if he had met his new employee. When his friend responded with, "yeah. You already showed me a picture of her," Diane started treating me like dirt. Her and Brian were very rude to me moving forward. Due to the unprofessionalism and inappropriate behavior, I quit. Fast forward years and years later, i go to join the military and someone reaches out to all of my jobs. The only job that had a problem was this job. The owners lied and told the person I was fired due to a bunch of reasons (they had made up). How sick is it for a person to hit on their underage employee when he is in his lower 50s or upper 40s and then try to ruin her chances for the military? They really tried to save their image by lying. So please be careful if you are a young woman thinking about working here. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed the name from Hotel Faust to Hotel Giles because they ruined it the first name by their immature and inappropriate behavior. I was hesitant to post this review since I left, but I feel that it is necessary for others to know this information for their own good. read more

We stayed at the Faust in May 2015 as part of a birthday weekend. The property is very nicely redone and quaint, and the owner Chris is so nice and welcoming. Unfortunately we had big storms come through causing major flooding and evacuations in the area. Luckily this hotel is on High Street (literally), so we were safe. However, some of our party were at another nearby hotel that was evacuated, and Chris was kind enough to let our group of around 20 gather in his dining room and stay there through the evening to ride out much of the storm. He was very accommodating and made sure we were safe and dry and did everything he could to make us comfortable. Fortunately the hotel didn't suffer any damage (that I know of). We'd absolutely stay there again on our next trip. Chris also makes an excellent breakfast! read more

This hotel is located right in the middle of town and across from a great cafe and a small tavern. The rooms and common spaces are very classy. The breakfast was awesome. I'm particular about my coffee and they serve some excellent brew. Quiche, homemade biscuits that are better than your grandma's plus homemade jam! I wish I could have stayed for the pancakes the next morning, but we had to leave early. I heard from friends they were the bomb. Our room was spacious and the bed very comfy. Way better than a typical bed and breakfast. Plenty of privacy. We were there for the Memorial Day weekend and the whole town was rained out. The owners could not have been more accommodating to our large group. I highly recommend this place and will book here again when we return to Comfort. read more

I stayed here for one night in the Gorman Cottage. Everything about my stay was perfect. The cottage has two beds, one in a separate room. It's very spacious and the furnishings are top of the line. The shower was excellent. The grounds of the hotel are impeccable and the owners have thought of everything. I highly recommend Hotel Faust. read more

We stayed at Hotel Faust for two nights on a recent Hill Country trip. It had much more of the feel of a B&B than a hotel, with few services and somewhat minimal in-room amenities. There is no staff member on site, however, P.J., the manager, was warm, friendly, helpful and available by phone if needed. The outdoor environment was lovely, and our room well-decorated and comfortable, with the exception of the mattress, which was too soft to be comfortable. I'd advise making requests in advance, if more than one of you is staying in the room: an extra luggage stand; water glasses; extra coffee and/or tea (only two, one-cup servings provided, and no tea); a refrigerator if needed (they did have a small one to roll in); and extra towels if you need more than two towels, one handtowel and two washcloths (don't all women need an extra towel for their hair?). Also the bath mat was small and when the shower door was opened, water sprayed out, which meant the floor was wet and hazardous (one towel was sacrificed as an extra bath mat). Our room was also dizzyingly cold due to air conditioning which cannot be changed in the individual room, but has a master control for the whole building our room was in. And there were no extra blankets in the closet, as one might expect. All that said, we still found the Hotel Faust charming and would recommend friends to it with the caveats mentioned above. With some slight adjustments, it could be a really wonderful experience. read more

The property is set on a quaint street - the kind you would imagine with Hill Country Charm and friendly neighbors. The oustide is impeccable and chic -- the owners recently completely rennovated the hotel and updated it to perfection. The rooms were well appointed, with comfortable bedding, great furniture and modern bathroom features. The courtyard is open and houses a large gazebo and neat landscaping. Aside from the property itself, the people are fantastic. The owners, Kevin and Chris, are friendly, always willing to help and serve you a delicious hot breakfast in the mornings. Ready with recommendations for local excursions, we really appreciated the lengths they went to to make our stay fantastic. We were there for a friends birthday party, but the hotel is perfect for a romantic couple's weekend, girl's getaways or a business retreat. The local wineries, shops and restaurants (and of course the impromptu German folk festival) cemented our five star experience. We'll definitely be going back soon! read more

Hotel Faust is the perfect place to relax and unwind. It is more than a place to spend a night. It is more of a relaxation resort! I spent 3 nights and days with my wife and 3 other couples. We were celebrating my wife's birthday. The stay was incredible. Hotel Faust has the charm and personal touches of a bed and breakfast, yet with the amenities and privacy of a 5 star hotel. The owners (Kevin and Chris) made sure all our needs and wants were met. Anything you want to know about Comfort and what to do while there Kevin and Chris can help. They served their guests a great breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings in the restored carriage house on the property. We had the two room cottage which was perfect, but so were the other rooms our friends were in. We can't wait to return and try a different room on each trip. I am sure every room will become our favorite. We will definitely return to comfort and Hotel Faust will be the only place we stay. read more

My girlfriends and I decided to travel to wine country for our last girl's weekend adventure and we were not disappointed! Hotel Faust was absolutely picturesque! The owner, Chris was so welcoming. After our introduction and conversation, I felt like I had known him for years; he was simply the best. Every morning a delicious breakfast was served with coffee and juice. The rooms are simply charming and the outdoor space is the perfect place to open a bottle of wine at night and relax in the moonlight. Oh, and I wanted to take home the showerhead! You would think us girls had never showered before but I tell you, it was like no other! I can't rave about Hotel Faust enough.
