My biggest fear was if mold was behind the tile - he was confident it wasn't. But of course I asked if it was and he did give me a price like I asked so I would be prepared. The work took 2 days due to drying time and he was able to work with my weird schedule as well. Definitely will use company in the future. My wife and I moved to a 140 year old farm house in December which immediately needed plaster work…read morein three rooms. I found JPC on Google in February and they came out to work in May after they finished a big job in Owosso. This is my first time working with a contractor on plastering so I was flying blind, but was immediately at ease with Jim Conklin the Founder and Owner. Jim knows the history and science of plastering and he is a gifted artisan. He and his colleague Ethan repaired cracks in two rooms, and in one of the rooms removed plaster to the lathe board and redid it, and in that same room took out a 8' x 8' section of plaster and lathe and completely redid it. JPC outdid themselves by rescuing a large 5' medallion which had pulled away from the plaster, by coming at it by removing the floorboards above it, and using adhesive conditioner, Teflon netting and plaster. This drew the medallion upward and solidified it. Impressive. They finished all of this work in five days. They are due back out later this year to continue the work in three other rooms. Even before JPC did their work I was spreading the good word about them, and certainly will continue to do so.

There…read morewas a lot of upfront planning (i.e., repeat measurements, clarifying expectations, selecting materials, etc.), but their approach works in order to anticipate and plan for potential hiccups. Ken even had other subcontractors come out to ensure that we had the best estimate for the work. They kept us in the loop, cleaned up at the end of the day, and always demonstrated a high level of professionalism (i.e., early/on time, respectful, reliable, etc.), which made them stand out compared to all the other contractors we contacted. The only downside was the cost relative to other contractors. However, as newbie homeowners we've learned that the contractor fees tend to be higher in Ann Arbor. Although, we feel that the fee was well worth it in the end because of their stellar work. The bathroom previously was a room to avoid, and a space that we didn't use. They truly transformed our space. Looking forward to ADB helping us with our next project!!

Their "designer" basically knew how to order the cabinets, and manipulate the layout program, but did not help with ACUTAL design at all, so be careful there! In fact, the dimensions were off - we would have ended up with a 2 foot wide kitchen table and a gigantic kitchen island if we hadn't pushed back. Their carpenter is awesome. He listened and even came to us with questions and built us a beautiful bench. Their tiler did a good job on kitchen and bathroom tiles. We did not like our project manager. He did not listen to our requests and subsequently things were not done correctly and had to be redone (along with arguments about payment for redo). They never came back to acid wash bricks, which they said they would do. Repeated requests have gone ignored. Our mistake for paying bill in full before it was finished.

I called the morning the work was scheduled to confirm that someone was coming. I was told that they didn't have anyone who "were available" to do the work and work order had been cancelled. They didn't have anyone to do the work at all. Why was the work scheduled in the first place? I was not notified of the cancellation despite the CSR's claim that "her co-worker" did so.
