I actually stayed at one of the condos via AirBnB rental with my husband and our dogs during our week long vacation about 1.5 weeks ago. The condo that we were in was a 2 bedroom, 1 bath. There is a small backyard (but with such close proximity to your neighbor, you are not getting much privacy out here) and we had 1 parking spot. Even though it snowed most days that we were visiting Utah, the parking lot/ driveway was cleared of snow every morning. I actually on one day while walking my dogs that someone was shoveling some of the snow off the driveway. This gated community (although that gate was not closed while we were here) seemed pretty safe to me. There is just one entrance way (off of 600 North, that is behind the Chevron Gas Station) and one exit way (which leads you onto North 300 West). The condominium community looked like a nice place with some grass available (in case you have to walk your dogs). There is a communal dumpster out by the exit way for you to empty out your trash, which was an easy find. Overall, a nice place and I wouldn't mind staying out here again in our AirBnB rental.

Don't be deceived by the view and the appearance of this complex. The service here is very bad,…read moreafter they sell the place to you, they do not care about any of your needs, and the only thing they care about is your HOA payment. There is NO office in this complex that you can ask your questions, and discuss your needs. You have to solve all of your problems through the phone and there is a pretty long waiting time for it, since everybody wants to solve their problems through the phone which makes it really hard. The board and the president of this place are very illogical and strict about the rules they make ,and they don't really care about residents when they are making decisions for us. You have to follow a lot of rules here, that makes life harder in comparison with other complexes. You cannot have any pet in the complex , or have any guests with pets for a few hours, no one in the complex can smoke( I don't smoke, but sometimes you have guests that want to smoke, and it can be hard to tell them that they can not smoke anywhere in the complex), you can not have any guests in the pool, which makes the pool pretty much impractical, they close the club house at 9 pm without any exception, which means the club house is also impractical, and lots of other rules that can be very hard to follow, but unfortunately non of the board members care about residents. They set the rules all by themselves and based on their needs, they never asked about other residents needs and opinions when they were setting the rules for them. They are not open to hear about resident's opinions and make subtle changes or exceptions, because probably it is hard for them to change the rules or even make an exception. The HOA charge here is way too high for the service you get. The washer dryer doesn't work well, and they don't spend much money on cleaning the complex, or shoveling the snow during the winter, if you do not have a good car, it can be hard to enter the complex, because they don't shovel the snow well, and sometimes it takes them a while to start shoveling after the snow starts, which can be very dangerous if you have to leave the house in the morning while there is a lot of snow on the floor. I would buy a bigger, and nicer condominium without pool or club house with the money I paid for this one, because the pool and the club house are impractical, not just because of the rules but because gym, pool and the club house are very old and small, that you cannot use them. I DO NOT suggest this condominium.

Staff: Even though most of the time people don't need to deal with the leasing off staff besides paying the rent or getting their packages. But Issa and Lani are more than just the leasing office staff, they know which room that you live in, and they welcome you like how your family would do when you get back home. Most importantly I felt free to address any issue or problem I might have, and they are proactive so you don't need to keep following up with them. Cleanliness: Whether the apartment is clean or not is a big thing for me too. Especially the common area and the grass area. Grass is the easy spot to tell whether the apartment staff pay enough attention to keep it clean, especially for apartments that allow dogs. Well it should not be that way, but some dog parents just don't pick up their puppies poop. They always keep the grass clean, and if there's something messy or anything smells bad, they would clean it right away. I know that Traci works really hard to keep everything clean and she does check the building everyday to make sure everything is good. I was also impressed with how quick they are to get the work order done so that I don't have to wait. Last but not the least, if you don't know there are many people got their car broken into in this area. Some apartment might have cameras, but they don't really work sometimes, since most of the time people don't really check that while looking for an apartment. Season by far has the best security and access control that I know in town. All their cameras work. You get what you pay especially for a safe and comfortable place that you can call home. I cannot wait to move back to the seasons next week.

I told him it seemed like her personal call was more important than leasing an apartment to me. I won't recommend this place. I went out of my way and wasted my time to be ignored. We are talking changing a water softener they sold us and installed (we had to replace it on our own), the main shower bathroom membrane seal is broken which may have mildew and mold, and the main water line connection which can cause a basement flooding. Unfortunately, these are things we cannot inspect or see until they break. Now warranty is not helping us because it has been more than one year since we bought the home. What can we expect in the next upcoming years?

Just a couple of things to consider before moving into the building…read more NEGATIVES: 1) Regardless of whether you are renting or own, the HOA is very aggressive when it comes to issuing HOA fines BUT they do not always seem to follow the rules they are supposed to observe when it comes to issuing fines (e.g. they don't seem to always follow the Community Association Act). Be mindful of what those requirements are and use that information to defend your rights. There is also a lot of "re-use" as it relates to the HOA Board and those that have a disproportionate amount of power within the building tend to get re-elected to these positions. 2) If you are a renter, be very careful when it comes to renting from individual owners. I rented Unit 711 and had to file a small claims case in Salt Lake City Justice Court against the property owner and the property manager they use. I even had to get an attorney involved prior to filing the case. Make sure you read reviews, get referrals, talk to people in the building and get feedback on the owner, and review the lease document carefully. 3) I can't speak for all units, but I rented a unit on the top floor that faced south and overlooked the courtyard and any time I left the windows or sliding glass door open - the unit got a ton a dust (even though I was on the top floor). It seemed like I was always wiping off my belongings / furniture. 4) The building is not competitively positioned with other buildings downtown as it relates to amenities however this will be more or less important depending on whether you are a buyer or a renter because most if not all buildings with top notch amenities are rentals only. This building has 1) no dog wash; 2) not much of a gym; 3) no dedicated bike storage; 4) no pool; 5) no rooftop deck; 6) a very small and outdated community room; and 7) barely any outdoor furniture on the courtyard for people who want to be outside and utilize that space. (I think there is one or two outdoor tables and that's it. It's seems like a bit of an afterthought to be honest.)  5) There are no community events and I have never seen anyone just hanging out in the courtyard or using the BBQ. It's just not that kind of building - which seems to affect the energy of the building - however, this may not matter to you.  6) While there are units with city views that face west and units with mountain views that face east - there are a large number of units in the building based on its layout that either face south or north and these units directly face other adjacent buildings and so the views are not great.   7) The building always seems to be in need of repair. In fact, for the entire term of my initial lease, the building was undergoing extensive repairs and was covered in scaffolding and netting. Now, the courtyard is going under construction / repair. Aside from the inconvenience, this can result in special assessments that owners are responsible for paying. Ask questions if you are thinking about purchasing a unit. 8) This wasn't necessarily a negative for me because I am no spring chicken, but there are a lot of older people that live in the building and as far as its location is concerned - the building lacks the downtown feel (if you will) that one might expect living in an urban setting. 9) There is a big homeless population problem within the immediate vicinity of the building and the problem is getting worse. Also, while it was nice having Washington Square across the street because it provided some shade and grass for the dogs, this is no longer the case because of the amount of homeless people that congregate there and the amount of trash on the ground that they leave behind.   10) There are only a couple of garage spaces that have charging stations and these were installed and are used by unit owners. If you own an electric vehicle, then it is unlikely that you will be able to charge your vehicle while parked. I was told by a resident in this situation that the cost of installing a charging station is very expensive (approx. $30K) because holes need to be drilled through the concrete ceiling of the garage, etc... to install power to the stations and tie into the utilities registered for the unit that the parking space is assigned to.    11) As I understand it, there are quite a few hurdles that one has to go through if they want to install hardwood floors and it is not a guarantee that this will get approved by the HOA. Therefore, there are only a handful of units in the entire building that have hardwood floors throughout. Most units have carpeting in the living rooms and bedrooms, which may not suit your taste - especially for an urban dwelling.   POSITIVES: The building and garage are secure, the building is pet friendly and has a good dog run, the maintenance staff are fantastic, the location is good, and the elevators are reliable.

The previous review from 2014 is inaccurate, dated and probably mistakenly refers to some other property, as there is no/was no such unit/owner at The Metro as the review purports to describe.
