I have experienced this more often than not. This was not the case at RifleGear. Ivan helped show me a pistol and explained all the features of this newer weapons system. He was very knowledgeable and personable. I purchased the gun and this was my first time completing all the DROS paperwork via a computer tablet. Much of the information was pre populated after scanning my CDL. It was a much easier process compared to the old paper form. They have an excellent selection of both handguns and long guns here. would highly recommend and they even had a nice and clean restroom. Left my new gun for optic plate, optic, and magwell install along with another pistol that needed an armorer due to light primer strikes. Laurentius helped me and the process was smooth. I was able to pick up my gun after the 10 day holding period without any issues using my real ID and fishing license. I probably should've written this review a while ago for past purchases, but today I picked up my existing Ruger GP-100 with the new Gemini Customs front fiber-optic sight that RifleGear installed for me. My older eyes had trouble picking up the factory fixed black front sight, so this upgrade makes a huge difference. I've replaced sights on my Glocks using the MGW sight tool, but the GP-100 revolver is a different story. Besides punching out the tiny pin (not a big deal), the replacement sight requires drilling a new hole, and I didn't trust myself to do that without risking damage. If you try and drop the new sight in and drilling a new hole through, you'll most likely ream the hole and remove material. I'm glad I left it to the professionals. RifleGear's gunsmith installed it perfectly, and the revolver came back like a brand new firearm. Turnaround time was only a few days. I've purchased more than half a dozen firearms from RifleGear over the years and have always had great service and prices. This was my first time using their gunsmithing service, and I won't hesitate to use it again. Thank you, RifleGear! read more

I was searching for somewhere that sold a specific brand of firearm because I was having trigger issues with mine. I found RifleGear on yelp. I went in and talked with Ivan who was extremely helpful and understood the problem I was having. He gave me some suggestions and it certainly was good advice. I sent my 9mm back to the manufacturer and they replaced the faulty trigger and sent it back within a couple of weeks. Ivan saved me over $300 because I was ready do give up on fixing the issue myself and just buy a new trigger. Shopped around online and saw that they had some good prices and ammo and decided to go check it out for the first time. Immediately once you enter the store, there is a laptop to the left where you can put your name down in the waitlist to be seen. At the time I arrived around noon, there were only 2 people in front in the waitlist. It took about 5-10 min for me to get called and I found the exact ammo I wanted. I've been coming here more times than I can count and it has been my favorite gun shop in OC until today. I was profiled my an employee named Ivan who was extremely rude and argumentative. I let him know that I was there to purchase ammo which I have done several times at Rifle Gear. Instead of showing me their ammo inventory on the computer, he immediately asks for my ID. I ask him why he needs my ID if I haven't even made an ammo selection in order to start the background check. He said they always ask you for ID up front to make sure you have all the identification needed so that nobody's time is wasted. I replied stating that I have been coming to Rifle Gear and other gun stores for a long time and not once has anyone asked me for ID until it's time to do the background check. I let him know that I've bought ammo at several gun stores and I have all the required documentation with me. He was still persistent on needing my ID up front BEFORE showing me the inventory on the computer. Man I gotta say I've never had anyone look so long and hard at my ID and Passport. Even walking to the copy machine he was still checking them out and bending the ID. I purchased just $20 worth of ammo which is pretty much nothing compared to what I actually needed just to prove to him that I'm a legit law abiding citizen who can pass a background check. Just because we have tattoo's or look a certain way doesn't mean you need to judge and profile someone. I hope he sees this and treats customers better in the future. From this point forward I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

09/08/2023 I was interested in a Ruger handgun that recently was added to the California Handgun Roster. Rifle Gear was out of stock so I added my email to be notified of available stock. I received the email on 09/01 but didn't check my email till 09/02, I quickly jumped onto their website to check the quantity, great they had 5 in stock. With gas prices over $5 a gallon, I was debating whether to come here or go to Turner's in Pasadena. Turner's had the gun for $10 more but they were out of stock, so that evening I checked the in stock quantity at Rifle Gear again. Oh crap they had 2 left, so I made an online purchase to be picked up at Rifle Gear Fountain Valley. During the check out I totally forgot to put in the 5% discount code for Labor Day Sale. To my surprise the discount was automatically added because I bought it during the sale. Now that's great service! When I came in to do my DROS I was surprised again it was only $37.19 for the DROS nothing more. Not the Bull Shit $7.00 fee that Turner's charge for a Paperwork Fee. I recently purchased a .357 Magnum at this location, and I was impressed. The store has a nice layout, and a check in system for when they are busy. The staff all seemed to know their stuff and were very helpful. They have a large selection of guns and ammo, and you can check their website to see what they have in stock. Fountain Valley has one of the highest sales taxes in the area, so that is the only downside of this location. The shop itself is great though. read more

I was looking into purchasing an AR15 and heard good things about this place through a friend of mine. I came in this past weekend and Devin assisted me when I walked in. He was super knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all my questions. I wanted a featureless build to be California compliance, and while they could have done that for an extra $200 on the AR I wanted , Devin went the extra mile and let me know they had it in stock at their Texas location. He suggested I just order it and have it shipped to the store, saving me extra costs. I offered to buy from him directly to ensure he got the commission, but he told me none of the employees get commission (which I think is unfortunate). Still, he genuinely cared about helping me, and he deserves to be recognized for his excellent customer service. Rifle gear reached out to me and wanted to make it right. I had left a vmail email and text to sigsaur with no results. Rifle gear sent it in for me and I got it back within a week. The springs were replaced and other stuff upgraded. The slide no longer hangs back a 1/4 inch which previously disabled firing it. I had shot at least 300 bullets before the repair. The gun was sketchy on day one. It faltered for two other people. At first I thought that it was my fault because I wasn't holding it properly. Well, I shot 75 bullets after getting it back. It's perfect. I love this gun now. I love that the owner of Rifle gear took my problem with the gun seriously and made it right. I will purchase another gun from them after doing some thorough research. read more
