Driving from Denver to Chicago and stopped in York overnight. Needed a yummy breakfast and stumbled in. What a yummy clean and super friendly place. Candy, our server was totally awesome and sweet. We had a great meal, my girl had a Parmesan Ceasar and I had the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs. We also had homemade Cinnamon roll which was delicious! Highly recommended! read more

This place used to be very good. When ownership changed, it just lost food quality. I haven't returned in some time due to three consecutive negative experiences. The place was maybe a third full when I got there, not busy by any means. My order was simple, scrambled eggs, sausage and a side of sausage gravy - which comes in 5 or 10 minutes (tops) at most places. I heard the cook say "I can't put that order out, I don't have any gravy." I'm guessing they decided to make some before they put my order out but they didn't bother to tell me that. In fact my waiter went by my table at least a half dozen times without saying a word. Had they bothered to explain the delay I might have skipped the gravy or just waited. Pretty good place. We both had the dinner specials, which came with soup and salad bar. Broccoli Cheese soup was decent. The meals were good. Steak prepared medium rare, with a nice crust, and mashed potatoes and corn were a nice touch. Better than any chain which we drove passed. read more

Looking for a place close to the RV campground. Salad bar had plenty to select from. Wait staff friendly & attentive. Average fare.. nothing spectacular but okay. Had dinner there last night, and breakfast there this morning. Wife had beef tips and gravy, and I had the classic cheeseburger. Service for dinner was great, and our waiter (DeAndre) was on top of things. The food was delicious and had great flavor. Breakfast was another story. We both had biscuits and gravy. Our eggs and gravy were cold, the gravy did not taste the best. Our rating is an average of the two meals we had. 5* for dinner, 3* for breakfast. Maybe something made to order would have been a better choice. We WILL stop there again if ever in this part of the country. read more

We ate there for lunch/dinner on 02/12/ 17. The only good thing was the mashed potatoes and gravy. Ordered the special which took forever to arrive. The chicken was flavorless and the corn was straight out of the can. The salad bar was so-so. We didn't try the soups. We had very poor service - possibly a new waitress. Great prices, great food, and friendly staff. We have never had a bad thing to say about this locally owned restaurant and know one of the managers very well. I had a great breakfast here. It was very hardy. Service is good. We both ordered omelets . It was a huge plate of food. Hot coffee carafe left on table. I would stop here again. I was traveling through Nebraska with my children and when I saw "The Kitchen", I thought good home cookin'. Instead it was small portions of decent food that is over priced. The restaurant is clean and the staff was friendly, however, that being said my opinion went down from there as we all walked away hungry. I ordered my son the mini corn dogs off the kids menu...we were charged over $5 (which is high for a kids menu item) and he received 5 mini corn dogs and a prepackaged "flavored" (which wasn't yummy) applesauce (the meal as a whole would have been worth $.40 retail). That would have been enough to fill a 4 year old, but not a 9 year old. The kid was starving when he was finished. So I shared my toast and then ordered a side of fries for him as well (which funny enough cost $.99 and had more to it than his entire meal). My 11 year old wanted fettuccine alfredo off the adult menu which cost us $7.99, and it was a kid portion, she was also still hungry and ate the additional fries as well. Her food and pita bread were yummy, she just didn't get enough to make a meal. I ordered a skillet (thinking I'm getting something like I would at Denny's)...mine was about 1/3 of a portion I would get there or Village Inn and I paid $8.99. Clean. Food ok. Service is non-existent. We waited 7 minutes before even being acknowledged. Ainsley decided we never needed water refills and had she not left the coffee pot on the table, we wouldn't have had refills there, either. Employees more concerned with cleaning rather than service.
