Biscuits and gravy

First, this place is empty and smells of an old dusty closet. No smell of food present.... I'll finish review once my food arrives. So the food arrived and it looked good, then tried to cut into the biscuit and it was hard, then felt it and it was cold. The hotel I'm staying at is advertising this place, I wouldn't suggest either. Really disappointed.

Bar area and seating

Server was prompt and very friendly. It's set up like an old time diner and is very clean inside. Food was made to order and pretty good. I got the western burger which wasn't bad but the bacon could have been cooked longer. Overall not too bad.

Place is dirty. I should not have stayed to eat. Tears in seats. Food was hot, I just could not get over the look of the place.

The beer is clearly the star here, and the menu has plenty of good options to go with it. Everything came out fresh, and our server was attentive throughout the visit. My only note would be that if you are going to a place known for beer, it may be best to stick with what they do best rather than ordering a martini. That one was probably on me! Overall, Lazlo's is a great spot for good food, good beer, and a laid-back Omaha meal. We would definitely go back.

All the classic dishes like the lavosh, the prime rib enchiladas, the voodoo, chicken, etc. are still on the menu. On the whole, our table enjoyed the meals we got. That said there were a couple little notes I have. I've said it before, but the way they plate salads is impractical here. They serve side salads on small glass plates. Of course I appreciate the effort to make it a nice sized salad and fill up the plate, but with no overhang and no depth because it's not a bowl, it makes it really difficult to stir around without making a big mess. They don't serve the salads tossed, so this continues to be an issue for me as a diner. The other thing I noticed is that the building itself definitely needs a little TLC. Everything just looks a bit worn... in particular the walls, the baseboards, places where there's wear and tear, and it just doesn't look as crisp or as modern or updated as it could.

To say I was pleasantly surprised, is an under statement. I ordered a filet, (med rare, BUT I was going to get it medium and changed my mind in case it happened to be more medium -ish) and I'm glad I did. It was cooked like a medium rare steak should be! (my husband ordered the exact same thing and was cooked to perfection as well). Our Server was good, he hadn't worked there long and the the prices were not bad at all! Prices are very reasonable for today's dining experience. Will definitely be back.

While I've enjoyed Toast before, this was my first experience with their Weekend Brunch, and it certainly lived up to expectations. We were seated on the restaurant's attractive and comfortable outdoor patio, the perfect setting for a leisurely brunch. To start, we ordered Bloody Marys, which were exceptionally well-made and a great way to begin the meal. For my entrée, I chose the Biscuits & Gravy--warm buttermilk biscuits topped with griddled sausage patties and smothered in a housemade country-style gravy with a subtle paprika kick, served alongside two sunny-side-up eggs. My wife selected the Salmon Avocado Toast, featuring a four-ounce Atlantic salmon fillet brushed with lemon-garlic butter and grilled to a perfect medium. The dish was complemented by an egg cooked to order, red onion, fresh greens, creamy avocado, and a touch of sweet chili sauce on toasted wheat bread. Both entrées were generously portioned and absolutely delicious. Whether you're stopping by for lunch, dinner, or their outstanding weekend brunch, Toast continues to prove why it has remained a local favorite for so many years.

I actually fell in love with their Grand Cru back in 2007. It used to be a must-visit spot whenever I was passing through Omaha. Truth be told this latest visit felt a bit sad. The place just seems tired these days. The beers were okay but nothing really stood out on the creative side. They did have that Space Monkey Biermosa on the board but it just did not sound appealing to me. The food was decent enough. I ordered the jambalaya and it was pretty good. It had some nice subtle heat and the shrimp were cooked well. My wife went with the Mediterranean chicken but it was a bit of a letdown. It was dry and frankly quite bland. My son had the Blonde pizza and he did not have any complaints about his choice. I really hope they find some new fire soon. It feels like things are trending in the wrong direction every time I stop by. On the bright side our waiter with the red hair was an absolute rockstar. He provided great service and was definitely the highlight of the night. I wish I had remembered his name. We will see if we stop by next time we are on the road.
