A big group of us came to TKT to celebrate friends' engagement and wedding, and everyone was so kind and accommodating! We'd made reservations and were late but even after a phone call with the restaurant staff they were so kind and extended our reservation by 30 mins. They were super sweet, and wonderful and even though we stayed passed closing hours they still provided us with dessert. Super wonderful staff and service and the food was incredible. The next time I'm in the area I'll definitely recommend TKT to them. You all are the best! read more

Had dinner there recently after the full re-opening. Was very busy, took a while to get seated despite reservation, but it was worth the wait. Fantastic upscale italian food, pleasant atmosphere, friendly service... great for a date or special occasion. Grilled peach salad and dungeness crab gnocchi were the highlights for us. Yes, yes, yes! We have been patiently awaiting the opening of TKT, walking by with our dogs weekly to sneak a peak at the progress...and it was worth the wait. We love the warm, casual and modern decor. We made a reservation and had the option of dining at the chefs counter, which is one of our favorite places to sit, so we can watch all the yumminess being prepared. Being that is was our first visit, we decided to try a little of everything and it was all delicious. Seared calamari-you can taste the freshness and it is accompanied with a tomatoey sweet caponata...drool Seafood pizza-thin crust without losing its form. Crust was chewy, all ingredients fresh and delicious. Fettuccine carbanara-the pasta is cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth. Left me wanting more! Sauteed Farmer Greens-again, cooked to perfection. Eat your greens! Nunzio, the sommelier, and one proud papa I'd say, was knowledgable in steering me towards a wine that would suit my taste and the food. He was so friendly I felt as if I was talking to my own family. We will definitely be regulars here and are so excited great restaurants are finding their way into San Rafael. read more

WOW. This is hands-down the BEST restaurant in all of Marin. We ordered three appetizers and 3 pasta dishes, and they were each unique and incredibly delicious. Their wine recommendations were spot on, and the s'mores for dessert were AMAZING. Whoever previously stated that the flourless chocolate cake was bland could not be more wrong. Nothing in Marin compares in terms of high quality food, ambiance, and service. My only regret is not dining here sooner and not being physically capable of eating more. read more

Don't do it! My husband and I went out for dinner for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic and decided to come here. (We had been previously and liked it.). We were seated outside at a table where I could look directly into the kitchen. That was all it took. The "Chef" wore his mask around his chin, not covering his mouth or nose. This is the person cooking the food which was ok but not great and certainly not worth taking a chance on getting Covid. By the way "Chef" Covid-19 is real and it kills people, I know I lost my mother to it. So people, go out support your local restaurants but please for the health and safety of everyone in Marin eat where they take this pandemic seriously. read more

We really enjoyed our dinner. Food was delicious and the service was fantastic. The kids menu is great, finally something other than Mac n cheese and pizza on a kids menu! Service was excellent. It's the food that was a problem. I had a small pizza with neither sauce (of any kind) nor cheese (of any kind). It was bare dough and dry and white as a soda cracker. It had slices of fennel (!) drizzled with an unknown sauce and a few chunks of Italian sausage here and there. The sausage chunks wanted to roll right off if you picked up a slice. Delicious food, great service. The single raviolo appetizer was just spectacular: the pasta delicate, filling was rich & indulgent. Grilled octopus was good if a little unevenly cooked, with a tangy, savory, diced veggie accompaniment. Crab cake was 95% crab (& the rest was butter ), one of the best I've ever had. Mushroom ravioli was great: perfect fresh pasta and yummy umami bomb filling. I'm not a Brussels sprouts person but the rest of my family scarfed them down fast. My son gobbled his gnocchi bolognese in about 2 minutes flat. The rigatoni doesn't *look* like anything special, just pasta and red sauce, but the arrabiata is a standout. Very fresh tomato purée with just the right kick, and little pieces of fresh seafood are hidden throughout. Excellent. We loved the buttermilk pannacotta for dessert. My husband and I dined at The Kitchen Table last night and had a very enjoyable meal. The service was nicely paced and the food was very good and beautifully presented. We shared the chopped romaine salad to start, it was delicious and unique. I ordered the filet mignon for my entree and it was perfection. My husband ordered the pappardelle and enjoyed every bite. Been here twice now, same excellent bald (just like me) server. He's efficient, effective, and spends just the right amount at your table. Food is great. TRAGIC!!! I decided a while back I wanted to spotlight the places where we've had positive experiences, and warn the public about those to avoid. I can't believe staffing has gotten so bad that Alexander, the owner of The Kitchen Table, would hire the Jacobs of the world to be his General Manager. We thought we would try a new place, and now I understand why we haven't visited before. The energy is AWFUL. This Jacob, the GM, has the social skills of a rock. Whereas his arrogance was palpable, we question why? When you look at him, and listen to him speak, I can assure you there's no cause for ego. Watching him talk down to one customer after another, was horribly difficult to witness. Jacob, is a loose cannon. Argumentative with everyone. His comments are curt, and trite. He truly is running the restaurant into the ground, one customer at a time. Simply check out the endless NEGATIVE Yelp reviews by so many others. It's evident, his focus is not on the customer having a beautiful experience. PASS on The Kitchen Table and check out MADCAP in San Anselmo, instead. The chef and owner is so kind, and incredibly talented. It's the only Michelin star restaurant in Marin... MADCAP that is! read more

I had been wanting to try this place for awhile and so happy I finally made it with a friend. We started by splitting the farmers market salad. It was beautifully presented and the perfect ratio of greens to goodies. Cherry tomatoes, slices of mozzarella cheese, candied nuts and a mild sherry vinaigrette. To be honest, I don't usually eat pastas because my metabolism just likes to store all that goodness. But I heard they made theirs from scratch so I made an exception and did not regret it. I had the homemade chicken and mushroom cannelloni. The pasta was thin and delicate, the sauce was delicious and the filling very satisfying. Another beautiful plate. My friend had the pesto gnocchi. Again - plating was stunning. She was very happy with her dish, and I brought an order home for my husband who devoured it. Other reviewers had issues with service but ours was spot on. One of my girlfriends and I went to TKT during her kid's swim practice for a glass of wine. we ended up staying for three more it was just so good. By this point, we were both a little hungry so we ordered a Little salad to share. We ended up making her hubby pick up her kid. This place will not be getting my business, anytime soon. Called to make reservations (table of 4 for a future date more than 1 month away) and not only did she (the hostess) ask if we could do 7pm instead of 6:30pm but asked for a credit card. Apparently, they charge $20/person for tables 3 or more if you have to cancel and don't do so within at least 48 hours advance notice. Seriously?! This is downtown San Rafael we're talking about, not a fancy spot in the City. Not even Mill Valley does that. It's so disappointing to see establishments like TKT who nickel-and-dime their customers. I'm really disheartened and so are my gal pals who are all foodies and probably would have brought good business here. If I'm missing something, I hope to hear from the owner. read more

We had an unpleasant experience at this restaurant. The good news was we were seated at the time of our reservation. The bad... Our dinner order was forgotten and we (foolishly) waited nearly an hour to be served. No apologies. No items removed from the bill. No wine or other beverages offered during the wait. The menu describes a clams and spaghetti dish that I ordered. It tasted good but was served with overcooked angel hair pasta, not spaghetti. The young server was clearly embarrassed but did not or was not able to deal with this obvious error. One star for poor restaurant management. read more

We arrived on time for our reservation and were told that only table available, was outside in the temporary lean-to, located in the first lane of heavy traffic on Fourth Street in San Rafael, where buses, motorcycles, trucks and autos passed in an endless stream less that four feet from the dining area. I pointed out that there were two unoccupied inside tables, and was told that they were being held. The situation was compounded by the very young, self-important, host who expressed his dismay that I was challenging his authority. Surprisingly, this restaurant, which has few tables (approx. 8) seats guests in extreme close proximity, requires a credit card guarantee for reservations, and apparently over-books. I usually like to balance my reviews by complementing the wait staff or some other aspect of the experience, and here I complement the chefs who had prepared excellent fish on a previous visit. Obviously, we said our goodbyes, and called Il Davide who accommodated and treated us as guests. So if you enjoy the lack of parking, paying for a guaranteed reservation, sitting on top of your neighbor, cool aloof service in a Covid friendly environment, this is the place for you! read more

So wanted it to be as great as all I've heard. But alas San Rafael is still a food wasteland. So sorry to report. The appetizers were good. The ravioli uovo was creative and delicious. I thought the stuffing was a bit bland ( spinach and ricotta). The grilled maitake mushroom on crispy polenta was good especially the polenta. So two stars on the appetizers. The main entrees: seafood stew had little fish just a bit of shrimp and clams. Saw no mussels or whitefish. The broth was very mild but delicious and got soaked up by my bread. The chicken saltimbocca was dark meat chicken which was good but the prosciutto was hard and chewy (overcooked?) and the sauce was only so so. The pasta with oxtail was a total disappointment. The sauce was thin, soupy and clear and the oxtail meat was leathery and tasteless. On a better note the wine recommended was very good. I wish them well but there are better choices for Italian food. read more
