    Happy Hour

Fantastic happy hour between 3-6pm on weekdays offers a wide variety of $9 craft cocktails, including the margarita Italiano, incorporating mango and limoncello. Delicious and refreshing! Beers are $7 and wines are $8. The fried calamari was crisp and tasty and the pizza was huge and a great value. Service was prompt and welcoming and the decor is nice and muted Mediterranean style. We will definitely be back to try more menu items whenever we're in the area.

GF and I celebrated our birthdays and Valentine's Day together here. The roast chicken and branzino were fabulous. Red and gold beet salad with goat cheese was a winner too. Thank you to the staff for making it a memorable evening!

First time here! It was AMAZING!!! One of the best calamari's I've ever had! The seafood was so fresh and so flavorful. The gnocchi was like a cloud in your mouth! The red sauce was so delicious. The inside was so clean and nicely decorated. The waiter was very nice and super outgoing. He shared what he recommended and cracked some jokes that were great! Can't wait to go back.

Have not been here in several years and had a very nice time. Service was great, attentive and quick. Food was delicious, started with hamachi, had the bolognese and Sole fillet for dinner. They came by with some fresh focaccia bread, really good. It was quiet as the New Year festivities were quieting down which made for an enjoyable meal

I was really looking forward to this meal, but the pasta I received was bland, dry, and clearly thrown together with no care. There was zero flavor, and it looked nothing like the photos of the same dish I've seen online. It felt like they just don't care about takeout customers at all. For the price, I expected a decent meal--not what is pictured below. I would not recommend ordering takeout from here. Save your money and your appetite. TAGLIATELLE BOLOGNESE

I am admittedly someone who doesn't into "chain" restaurants so much, but there are two or three that I will return to and enjoy from time to time, and Il Fornaio is one of them. This restaurant in Corte Madera is well kept, and beautiful from the entryway throughout. The layout of the restaurant is inviting, giving you a glimpse of the kitchen area to the right as well as a lovely bar area to the left. There is a covered patio area that is suitable for a larger group event. It's climate controlled - really converted to an indoor area at this point. The decor is dark wooden and warm. First, this Italian mainstay possesses something that is always a game changer for me: a wood fired oven. This makes the pizzas (and other menu items) taste just that much better. So, I am often ready for a pizza here. And it's not a pizza restaurant per se - not alone. I've enjoyed pasta, chicken and seafood dishes here as well over the years. One favorite is the Ravioli di Brasato -- beef short rib ravioli often served with root vegetables. A very autumn dish! This day I enjoyed a margarita pizza, with pepperoni added. The cheese might be abundant for a margherita pizza, but I'm not complaining! Crust baked to perfection. This restaurant also has a monthly special menu typically honoring a region of Italy. This time, I ordered the special champagne off that menu -- offered in a standard pour or extra 250ml pour. Don't miss the bread for the table. This bread is perfect for the olive oil and balsamic that is served and poured in front of you by the wait staff. Whether I am sitting in the bar solo, or out to dinner with friends or family, or even for a work meal, the staff is always quite attentive and accommodating. I have never been treated in anyway other than kind and friendly, very welcoming. Don't miss out on the rewards program, which gives you credits towards menu items and even a complimentary Tiramisu on your birthday! (It's excellent by the way!) Download their app. All in all, I'm never disappointed here. This chain restaurant does it well. The people and the food and the comfortable setting keep me coming back.

Beautiful establishment. The food was so amazing. I started with a glass of red wine along their fresh Italian bread and oil dip which is plenty enough for a family. For the main course I had the TAGLIATELLE BOLOGNESE. It was my first time having and now it's probably my favorite. I closed the deal with a desert called The Special. It's a creamy semisweet type of custard with pistachio and other yummy goodness. My favorite part was my server "Isabella" . So helpful from start to finish always checking on me and helping make those tough life decisions with my order lol. She was awesome, sweet, helpful, and polite. So glad I chose this place to eat at on my visit.

Otherwise the food here isn't particularly interesting, and wouldn't have been worth writing about except that on a recent and particularly cold, wet evening I ordered a bowl of my ultimate comfort food, clam chowder. What arrived was such a major departure from the expected I had nowhere else to air the case, so now here we are. What arrived at the table was essentially a kind of thickened clam broth. Not flour & water library paste thick. but with the right pasta would have been an ersatz linguine alle vongole (less actual clams). Or adding potatoes would make it the soup of the day which I've been noticing more often on menus is termed "potato chowder". (about this last I'd like to take issue: how can a thickened potato soup rightly be called a chowder given that in traditional chowder recipes the essential ingredient is in fact potatoes (no? ask google). I figure to a marketing kind of mind calling this bland goo a chowder lends a certain cachet that mere "soup" lacks, for whatever that'$ worth) Where was I? oh yeah, i should add that neither potatoes nor pasta were in this clam soup, but to avoid a claim that the order didn't meet the "clam" description, it did include clams. However the clams were all in shell, half-open and floating or submerged in the broth. Not what I expected and definitely messy to fish them out. And of course, it's a chowder so where were the potatoes? But the clams were fresh and with enough sourdough to add the necessary carb load I decided on this cold wet night not to make an issue of this. So if you didn't complain, well you must have had no complaint... except I did. The bowl of clam chowder I was served looked nothing like the customer photo posted somewhere on your yelp page. I'll just stay with salads.

We started with the chips & salsas- the chips were just as I like them; thin, crispy with salt. My sister had the vegan enchiladas and her husband the vegan pozole which he raved about. My son had the trio of carnitas tacos and was quite satisfied. I thoroughly enjoyed the veggie (not vegan as I love my queso) chile rellenos - they were divine. The sauce was perfectly flavored. We shared the churros for dessert- a bit disappointed as they were not crispy & a bit doughy on the inside. Our server was friendly and the prices were reasonable. The palata was a great starter -- flaky, warm, and exactly what you'd want. The miso black cod was another standout. The garlic noodles were also done really well with the right noodles and great flavor -- honestly better than some places known specifically for garlic noodles. And of course, the coconut rice is always worth ordering. Anyway, we arrived around an hour before close, most places in this area close at 9pm btw. We were greeted by the host who walked in from near the kitchen area. We decided to sit outdoors since the weather was pleasant. We found a table for two near the projector showing a muted black and white film on the brick wall. The chairs had blankets over them just in case it gets chilly at night. It was very thoughtful. I decided to order their special 3 course meal including a white wine ($45!). It was like they had their own restaurant week specials like SF but I don't believe that exists in Marin. The 3 course meal included a beet salad, pasta (it was the screw shaped kind) with Bolognese and a tiramisu which was my fav of all 3. The white wine was a bit on the sweet side. Penne for Your Thoughts…read more Cal-Italian restaurant in the quaint town of Larkspur that's celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year. Picco blends the best of California with locally sourced and fresh produce with classic and modern takes on Italian dining. They are also Michelin recognized, as they've been Bib Gourmand winners ('21-23) in the past, and are currently "Recommended." The Good: * Reservations via OpenTable * Free street and City-owned lots available but there are time limitations, so check the signage. * They also run a pizzeria (Pizzeria Picco) literally right next door if you'd rather have a pie than pasta. * Outdoor dog-friendly seating * Waitstaff was fantastic and friendly. * Also has a bar if you just want to come in for a drink or three. * Local brews on tap, as well as a full oeuvre of alcoholic beverages. * They're known for their changing seasonal risotto, and after one bite, it was easy to see why! It was simply fantastic, as the rice was cooked perfectly and the fresh spring flavors in ours shone. * Carissa loved her King Salmon and veggies, as the fish was cooked perfectly. I ordered a daily special with house-made pappardelle noodles and smoked beef short ribs, and while it looked like a hot mess, it was fantastic. The noodles were thick and held up well to the assertive smoke and flavor of the beef--just a perfect dish in my opinion.. The Meh: * The Polenta-Crusted Artichoke Hearts appetizer was just OK. I liked the crunch and how they tried to present them as chicken wings, but they ate a little dry and the coating needed more seasoning. Fortunately, their concomitant aioli was able to save the day. The Ugly: * Not the biggest restaurant, and with the brick walls, it can get raucous in there fairly easily, especially if a large post-wedding party shows up to the bar to get sauced. Conclusion: Fantastic spot for a date night or any other occasion with great ambiance, service, and, most importantly, food. Highly recommended.
