This Thanksgiving, we decided to let someone else do the cooking and cleaning! I made a reservation for four of us at 3:00 pm. It was such a wonderful experience and meal. We were seated by the window and had plenty of light. We ordered appetizers and enjoyed the bottle of wine we brought (were charged a corkage fee, which is expected). For our entrees we ordered two salmon dishes, one pasta with chicken, and one rack of lamb. Everything was perfectly prepared and seasoned. It was truly a delicious meal. So refreshing to get wonderful service accompanied by great food and a warm welcome from the staff! We just left Finnegan's restaurant right down the street because of the terrible service we received when we sat down from our server. The food at Gracie is so good. Any of the panini's will have you asking for a to-go box because they are huge. Not sure what kind of house dressing on the side salad but, it is so good! Breakfasts are fantastic and the service is fast. They need a bigger place! Inside the chairs are bumping and servers squeezing by. Outside is lovely but honestly on Sunday's there is a long wait for a table. Maybe go for an early lunch or dinner. The food is worth it. read more

We planned to sit outdoors, but Abe insisted that it was too cold, and found us a nice corner table where my service dog could be tucked away. my friend and I shared the pair Panini and a Caesar salad both were exceptionally good. We also shared a berry cobbler for my birthday. all of the food was delicious. Even though we shared I'm still stuffed four hours later. The place was very comfortable, and the acoustics were quite considering there were quite a few people there I was able to hear my friend quite well all of the staff were very, very nice. After getting a lovely couple's massage, we came here for dinner. It was pretty busy & the noise level was a bit high, but the decor & everything was nice, along with the service. They had a limited menu, their "dinner specials", which was a little disappointing because they had far more vegetarian meals on their full menu. But we were able to find some options & the food was delicious. To start, they brought fresh-out-of-the-oven bread, which had a garlic taste to it & was SO good! We also ordered the grilled artichoke for an appetizer. I would've liked it a little more cooked & a different dipping sauce, but overall still tasty. Always nice to have dinner options on Grant Ave. Would be nicer if the options had more inspired food at lower price points, or much better food at grazie's price point. Was planning a family dinner in Novato and I called that day if we needed to make a reservation for 8 people and they warned me that there was a special music event festival outside. We prompted to sit inside but it was a great view outside. Because of the event we had a special menu to order from. We started off with bruschetta and calamari. My nephew got the kids cheeseburger. I got the tiger prawn risotto, my dad got pork chops, my mom Got the salmon, my brother got sandwiches and same as some others. Service was quick and we didn't get any dessert. A staple in Novato. Been eating panini's and salads for lunch for what seems like 20years now. 1st time coming in for dinner and happy I did. Scallop risotto could have used some more sauce, but scallops were cooked perfectly. Frutti Di Mare was great and didn't even take a picture of the pesto gnocchi because it got eaten up too quick. Really happy with the changes Abe has made with this local fav. Their staff stays here which is always a great sign. They really excel in their amazing salads. But, many other dishes are out standing as well. The food is excellent and always yummy. I was just here again, after not being in for awhile. Had a really nice lunch with 3 friends. Service was good! I loved my salad with chicken. The chicken was seasoned perfect and so yummy. Grilled to perfection and cut in bit size pieces. The ambience was great. The penne pasta with meatballs how can I say this the meatball tasted like a hockey puck. It was so dense and dry. The Penny pasta was good and the sauce was good but that meatball could have knocked somebody out. The server did ask and we did not tell him when we were in the restaurant because they were a little busy and we did not want to wait while it was corrected or changed. If the weather is nice, I recommend sitting outside ! read more

This used to be a great place, but over the past couple of years it's gotten more and more difficult to find enough vegetarian choices. I finally figured out why: they now offer an Impossible Burger, thinking that's a vegetarian entree. IT'S NOT. It's for meat eaters who want something that tastes like meat. I want something scrumptious that tastes like veggies, preferably with some cheese too! Now I'm lucky to find one "choice" for vegetarian entree. Novato has a real dearth of outdoor dining options, so we are always looking for a new place to spend our lunch hour together. Today we decided to see how Grazie was handling the pandemic. (The answer is "just fine, thank you") We both ordered from the lunch specials - the zucchini boat for wifey and the braised short rib sandwich for me. So first, let me just say a bit about the service. It is very difficult to pull off attentive AND unobtrusive. Grazie does an amazing job where beverages and place settings appear when you're not looking, and anything left on the table - straw wrappers, a discarded piece of napkin, whatever - mysteriously vanishes without a trace! Zounds! After tasting each other's lunch (which came quite quickly, I might add) we each decided we liked our own better than our partner's. So at least we ordered well. The short ribs came in a savory sauce, lots of al dente vegetables, served on grilled bread that absorbed the gravies... just eating the bread would have been a meal! it was great. My wife loved the zucchine boat - think of it as a meatball hero served open faced on zucchini instead of bread. Drink refills were offered before our glasses were empty, the staff were all friendly, and we really just had a great experience. Mind you, it's empty, with ONE table sat. I always support local but I won't be back to this establishment. I'm Italian and grew up with homemade gnocchi. I was hesitant but this was so good!!! You get an option of different sauces. I chose cream sauce for the gnocchi. Came here with a few friends for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. We had seen on their website that Tuesdays was half off wine, so we ordered a bottle of domain carneros champagne. Our waiter informed us that this deal was no longer happened, but they had not yet removed it from the website. The wine was also only for house wine - also not on the website. I preface with this because the waiter went to the owner and was able to provide us with this deal. Yay for us! I had the pear panini. As promised we are back as soon as they open since we all have to do our part in supporting our beloved places now even more then ever. Carlos and Abe greets us well. Even behind our masks and after that long of a time they remember us and we felt very welcomed. The City of Novato he used his main street in the evening and so you can enjoy dinner outside and support the restaurants to survive This time we just jumped ahead and had the Hanna's special pasta. Both - yes it is that good! I even goes for the vegetarian version without chicken since its.simoly made perfectly without. My insalata mista was nicely tossed in dressing and so good! We also had the guacamole, which is always surprisingly good and that at an Italian place. Lol. The chips accompanied the guacamole are housemade and fresh. We ended the dinner with the warm brownie and a little bit vanilla ice cream. Only shame was that the whipped cream came out of a tin and not a syphon. Grazie is a solid to good Italian cafe. The service is solid without being great. The atmosphere is reasonably good as a nicer cafe. Definitely doesn't feel upscale. Their food is good. I've had everything from pasta to their dinner specials. Everything is solid to good. Nothing stands out as great or better though. The wine list is a huge disappointment. It is terrible. The only wines you can get by the glass are house wines. All of their house wines I've tried are terrible and at best taste like glorified vinegar. The only average to decent wines they carry you have to buy by the bottle. For those that enjoy pairing great wine with great food this place is not ideal. I'm also not terribly impressed by their dessert menu. An Italian restaurant that doesn't offer tiramisu loses points in my book. The desserts I have tried all have been mediocre. In summary, Grazie is fine for a quick Italian bite. The food is good enough to please most patrons. Just don't expect anything more than a solid everyday meal. Nothing stands out to differentiate them from higher quality Italian restaurants. read more

I'm so sorry for the staff who is cooking, serving tables, clearing plates and trying to get takeout orders ready when there are a lot of people waiting to be served in the dining area. Overload for sure. Sad to see that the economy is coming back but people are taking advantage of the govt payroll support program so restaurants can't find help. It's NOT this great restaurants fault!!! We enjoyed the calamari with cocktail sauce then on to the petrale fish on wild brown rice with fresh vegetables. I had a huge blackened chicken salad. The brownie ice cream, whipped cream chocolate dessert was a winner! Yes, great food but sorely understaffed at the moment. We'll wait a few months to definitely try this favorite again when hiring resumes for support staff needed at these reputable establishments. read more
