Fantastic experience at TKT on April 9th. Started with salads and ravioli uovo. Salads were good, the ravioli was an experience. Served hot and perfectly cooked. fresh pasta stuffed with ricotta, spinach and egg yolk. How do they do it? I did share, but sparingly. The chicken saltimbocca delicious, as well as the linguini with clams. The service was great. I have already made another reservation, have to work my way through the menu. Returned on May 15th, not the same experience at all. We were disappointed. The Ravioli uovo was not the same dish served on the previous visit. It was served dry and lukewarm. It was as if it was unfinished. Just a plain undressed ravioli. The saltimboca was good as was the fried chicken. I will give them another try, but this inconsistency in food is NOT what makes a loyal returning customer. read more

I went there for the first time shortly after they opened, had to reserve a week ahead. The service was spot on! We started with the crispy polenta with grilled mushrooms, it was outstanding. I had the carbonara and it was the best I ever eaten! They don't add cream, just raw egg, which is the authentic way. My date had the seafood risotto which was also outstanding. The calamari was fresh and perfectly cooked. I returned the following week just to order the seafood risotto, which was filling and delicious. It is now my favorite go to restaurant in Marin and I been returning every week. Everything on their menu is outstanding and reasonably priced. My favorites are the pasta dishes as I am Italian. I love the crispy polenta with clams, when it is on the menu. On Tuesday and Wednesday they serve fried chicken and the best I've eaten. For desert, you won't be disappointed with the s'mores, if you like chocolate, extremely decadent. If not the lemon bar is also excellent. We were so excited for our first visit to the Kitchen Table and had a wonderful time seated at the counter. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and watching the beautifully plated dishes go out was great fun. The dining room was buzzing on a Friday night and the whole vibe of the place was hip and welcoming. The dishes coming out of the kitchen were beautifully plated and the wine list was carefully curated and fairly priced with many very good offerings by the glass. But whereas it's already difficult to get a reservation, the restaurant is not quite up to the number of five star reviews it's been getting. Service: Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and wines but we were disappointed later on to hear her telling the table next to us about the specials that she'd neglected to mention to us...especially when we saw an order of hamachi collar on a bed of frisée going out that we definitely would have ordered had we known. Later on, when we pointed out that the raspberry sauce on the lemon tart dessert was "off", being watery, sour and with an aftertaste that was faintly of bleach, she took us seriously, tasted it herself and agreed and had the chef taste. But no attempt/offer was made to take it off the bill (to be fair, though we did finish the tart portion without eating the sauce). Food: Crispy Riblets - they were technically prepared very well, bring crispy on the outside, yet tender on the inside, surprisingly boneless and pleasingly plated on a bed of fennel. But the meat was lacking in seasoning and the fennel purée had very little fennel flavor. The best bites were the ones with a bit of pepper heat as garnish. Ouvo- The ouvo, a single, very large ravioli for which the chef is noted, was nicely presented but lacking in seasoning. It was served in a pool of butter which I think was intended to be browned but wasn't quite browned to the point where it was nutty and fragrant. The pasta was fresh but cooked too long lacking the al dente quality that would have offset the tasty but too puréed filling that lacked any distinctive flavoring. Pasta Carbonara- We were really looking forward to this dish as we'd read good reviews, but were sadly disappointed. We received a nice sized portion of freshly made pasta in a sauce that was watery and lacking in the flavor of a distinctive carbonara that also lacked seasoning. There was no depth of flavor to the dish, no cheesiness, no creamy texture, no pork flavor (except for the garnish on top). Mushroom Pizza- This was the best dish of the evening. We asked for it to be made so it was crispy on the bottom and what was delivered was pizza perfection rivaling those coming out of the kitchens of Picco and Pizzalina. The toppings of mushroom, "mushroom bechamel" and cheese topped with arugula were in perfect proportion to the puffy, crusty dough. Lemon Tart- I would've thought this was the perfect way to end the meal if it weren't for the aforementioned raspberry sauce. The tart itself had a lovely, light and tart Meyer lemon filling with a crust that was lightly buttery and tender. But that sauce! Even if it hadn't had that off taste to it, it completely lacked the tart sweet flavor that should both contrast and complement the lemon tart itself. It was unfortunately both sour and watery. In summary, the restaurant is a fun place to go that just needs to refine its dishes a bit more. It is refreshingly careful not to over salt it's dishes but has too light a hand in both salt and seasoning resulting in too bland flavoring. Some of the dishes need better attention to textural components and balance. But all the ingredients are beautiful and fresh, the service warm and friendly, the vibe lively, and the potential is there to be a truly great restaurant . We will be back. read more

Food was good, but I was expecting better. I had spaghetti with turkey meatballs with a beef/pork bolognese sauce. I actually liked the sauce, so wished the meatballs were made of the same meat, but the dish was fine, nothing spectacular. Tablemates had linguini with clams, and said the sauce made it so they could not taste the clams and did not like it. On the expensive side, so I wanted better. Had to pay for bread, which was really good. Another hit for the table was the french fries. I personally did not like the taste, probably due to truffle oil, but they were really crunchy. The bigger disappointment was the service. There are plenty of people and they are all very nice. Our waitperson just did not get my order correct. When I ordered the waitperson acknowledged hearing the order, but I did not get either the side or the tea. When the main entrees were delivered, I asked for the tea again. I was brought the wrong flavor. I ordered jasmine. I did not read the tea bag cover, it was green, and I just opened it and started to steep the tea. I did not realize it was chamomile until after a few minutes when I poured the tea and tasted it. I do not like chamomile at all. I did not ask to have either fixed as we were already mostly done with our meal. We did not get charged for the side, so it was completely missed. Four of us ate at TKT a month or so ago. New restaurants are always welcome in Marin. Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is lovely although a little cramped. Food was decent. But, Make sure to check your bill ! We we charged for an item we never received and For an extra bottle of wine !!! They justified it by saying we had multiple servers. read more

I am sorry I don't have pictures, my phone battery died during dinner. But, last night I went out to dinner with some family at a great restaurant in San Rafael called the Kitchen Table. It is a quaint little shop. I believe the seating capacity is somewhere around 50 people or so. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the farmer's salad. Mixed greens with a balsamic vinaigrette and candied almonds. My entered was pasta with a delicious tomato sauce that was sweet yet a twinge of spicy. With sausage crumbles. I am sorry that I am blanking on the actual name of the dish. But, it was very good. Dessert was unfortunately just average. I ordered their fire and ice option. Fresh and frozen strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and black berries with warm white chocolate sauce. I was kind of underwhelmed with the dessert, but it was still tasty. All in all, a great evening out and I would recommend this little place if you are looking for good food. read more

My husband and I had a date night recently and decided to try Kitchen Table on a whim and without reservations. While it was busy and they didn't have any indoor tables, there was plenty of outdoor seating (with heat lamps) but we opted for the chef's bar area. We enjoyed it very much as we were able to see a lot of the food that was being delivered to other tables and it made me even hungrier as it all looked so delicious! We started with the brussel sprouts and the ravioli uovo and they were both really good. I especially liked the ravioli with the bread we ordered as the sauce was not something to be wasted. I ordered the polenta and maitake mushroom first course as my main and was not disappointed at all. It is rich, beautifully presented and has really wonderful flavors. My husband had the pasta carbonara which he said was one of the best he has ever had. Overall, we felt the entire meal was one of the best Italian meals we have had in a very long time. The only downside was the flourless chocolate cake which has a nice flavor, but the texture was not to my liking. I'd definitely order the beignets instead and they were definitely popular! What a way to return to outdoor dining!!!! This sleek spot in San Rafael not only served the best food I've ever had in Marin, but it has also created a stylish place to dine outside--even when this bleepin pandemic ends. Heaters, cozy blankies, and epic food. The maitake mushrooms topping buttery polenta was freaking INSANE. I'd eat a bucketful if I could (dare me). Barely shared any with my husband. He had a gorgeous veal chop topping more amazing mushrooms and potatoes, and I had little scallops topping an unusual and delicious parsnip purée with tangy zing from slow-cooked cherry tomatoes. The boyfriend and I had dinner at The Kitchen Table last night and it's officially my new mini-obsession. Their beautiful *homemade* pasta brought a perfect spaghetti and meatballs dish to that next level. I'm usually disappointed enough in restaurants' pasta doneness (have they all forgotten how to do it al dente?) that, upon return visits, I'll order the spaghetti & meatballs with a hold-the-pasta-and-add-veggies modifier, much to my boyfriend's chagrin. Never ever ever will I bastardize this dish at TKT. Oh and the fritto misto with those delicate and juicy lil shrimpies? So good. Service is great (attentive, charming, unobtrusive), wine list is great, ambience and acoustics are great, surely you're sensing a theme? It's great. Just go. We had a gift certificate for this restaurant and we were so happy we did. Everything was delicious and the service was great. It was expensive but worth it! Highly recommend the ravioli uovo and the mushroom and crispy polenta for appetizers. I'm glad there's finally a good Italian restaurant up in here! We ordered the shrimp tagliatelle and the gnocchi...both were delicious. The pasta tasted home made and the sauces were great. Also got the arugula beet salad and the shishito peppers which were great. The only drawback was the desserts...they were just a little above average....I've got a sweet tooth so maybe I'm a bit more critical, but I was expecting better after the main dishes. We got the sundae and the white chocolate cake with banana on top. Both were OK. I'll definitely be coming back though. A real plus for Marin! Thanks TKT! read more

Absolutely delicious food. Amazing. Better than almost anything else in Marin and up to par with the best in SF. Maiitake with polenta and mushroom demi glace was spectacular and the raviolo was out of this world. Lovely, low key service too. I'm even going to forgive the playlist of radio hits from the year 1975, which has to be some of the worst music ever, but I do have to mention it. When we come back (and we will), I hope they'll have taken it off the rota or be playing something else. read more

Really superb. Top recommends include the raviolo uova, a single large raviolo appetizer with a bright yellow egg yolk that runs out to mix with the truffle olive oil. It was our first visit to TKT last night and we had a wonderful experience. The room is light and comfortable. The restaurant was full but you were able to have a conversation. The reception and service were welcoming and professional, especially our server Gregory. The food was excellent. Went early. Restaurant only had one other table occupied when we arrived, and waiter insisted that all tables were reserved, and sat us next to lovely young ladies, talking very loud. Tables very close, almost banquette seating. We did have reservations. Food was excellent. We both had the Butter fish. I am not an onion fan and asked if I could have mashed potatoes instead of the onion rings. . Of course. But a 2$ up charge. Ok, but table next to us ordered same thing, but they did not get charged extra. Hmmm. Can hear all when tables so close. Fish served perfectly. Mashed potatoes smooth and creamy. Delicious. Unfortunately, both my husband and I had severe stomach issues 4 hours later and throughout the night. Maybe the wine? Very popular, lively and street parking. read more

This is a must-visit in San Rafael! Most of the dishes are served "family style" which lent itself well to our group of four. We started with the parm cheese crisps and olives which prepped us for the wave of flavors that can only be described as magical. We were able to try the Ravioli Uova (get 2), carbonara, and risotto. Everything was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of richness and you can certainly tell the pasta was homemade. The wine list has a great range from "special occasion" to affordable. Next time we go (and I assure you there will be a next time) we will be trying the pizzas! read more

Updated review- Tried TKT again. This time it was very great. The ravioli appetizer was amazing as was the Mushroom/Polenta appetizer. The anchovy pizza was ok. I would try a more normal one next time but the crust was so so delicious as was the side of brussel sprouts. I'm glad I returned. From the outside this doesn't look like much but once you walk inside it's modern and welcoming. The food is delicious - I enjoyed everything we ordered. And the service is fantastic.
