It is so unfortunate the Knuckle is on my list of "Never Going Again". Recently, I have been there twice and have encountered unpleasant staff and mediocre food. It seemed like everything was cheap, plastic silverware and plastic cups for beer... not even the nicer red cups. I have never been treated so poorly by a restaurant's staff, including the manager. Absolutely not. No one on the staff wore masks - does the virus not exist in SD? No mask enforcement, everywhere else in SD did. DISGUSTING bloody mary bar- a billion flies and jars touching the trash can. I felt gross even dining here... couldn't pick up a fry or a wing without getting rid of a fly. This would be the second night I've had terrible service and rushed out the door. The first time I get it, I took my shot, bought my pie and left... Last night.. was just uncalled for and I will never recommend this place to anybody. Not only did the bigger lady behind the bar not want to help me, she made it clear it was last call and than had no issues literally helping the people right next to me with big beers. I wanted a few more shots. But nope she just wanted the 3.50 and couldn't care to help me more. She went over to the other people friendly as shit. I shouldn't have left a tip, thanks for making the locals feel welcomed. This local will not be back. Good thing they have rally and their "rodeos". Don't support this place! The food was nothing spectacular and overpriced. The waitress mixed our credit card up with someone else's and never once offered anything to make up for their error. The time we had to spend to cancelling the card, calling them in hopes the other person realized they had the wrong card and returned ours, and checking the account for any incorrect charges, they should of at least comped our meal. Waited 1 1/2 hours for food only to have my son's burger teeny tiny. They didn't have time to make a new one and he's still starving. Waitress was sweet and took stiff off our bill. My solid advice to the manager and owner - don't screw over us locals. If you are overwhelmed then tell us so we don't have to wait. I don't mind coming back another day. What I do mind is sitting there - trying to keep my hungry kids occupied - and feeling frustrated after being extremely loyal customers for years and getting put on the back burner. It was close to five stars... I mean it's a huge bar in Sturgis and I'm guessing the best game in town. (But the only bar I went in so what do I know.) Two nice pool tables, good bar "bones"... nice servers and bar tenders. Seemed very much like an off-season biker bar but not in a dangerous way... most dangerous person in there was lady being kind of aggressive with her walker. The food won't win any awards but it did the trick. If you were looking for a top notch culinary experience you are in the wrong restaurant and probably the wrong city. Sorry, Sturgis. Of course, I've heard their hamburger with cream cheese is worth investigating. Came to Sturgis today to the Knucke for their pizza. I know it's the slow season but the staff walked around like they are in slow motion and the guy behind the bar was on his phone 70% of the time. I needed a refill on my soda and had it sitting on the edge of the table-and the waitress just moseyed on by and didn't pick it up. The place is clean but the pizza was just so so. The sauce is kinda boring and the whole thing just didn't have much taste. They have decent beer but won't be back for pizza or probably any other food. read more

We had awesome food and drinks here in July. We came in around 8:30pm and bellied up to the bar. The friendly waitress recommended the bleu cheese steak bites and mashed potatoes, so both my husband and I ordered those. Unfortunately it was too late in the evening for the cook to make the mashed potatoes so we got tots and onion rings instead. What an amazing meal! The food came out fast & hot, and the steak bites were definitely something special - the onions, mushrooms & bleu cheese...yum! We also enjoyed some of their brewery's craft beers - I had the "Don't Pet Tatanka" brown ale that was super smooth and flavorful. Husband had a red ale that he really enjoyed too. New owners are proving to be cheapskates. Short on staff. Waited 25 minutes just to get menu and order drinks. We knew what we wanted to order because we always order the same thing. She said she couldn't take our order "because she is required to take tables in a certain order". WTF? So we waited another 20 minutes to get our drinks. Then another 15 minutes to order. We both ordered chicken strip baskets because the chicken strips are amazing there. Waited 30 minutes for food. My side wasn't available so I had to order something else but we took one look at our baskets and they had cheap ass chicken strips. Not the usual. We walked out. BS. Stopped by here traveling through Sturgis on a cross country trip & the food/staff was amazing! The Garage Burger is a must (a little sweet, little spicy, super juicy). Atmosphere was great but should have a few more staff members just to reduce wait times & stress on workers (that's the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars). So, while we were in Deadwood; and, thought "what the heck" let's check out Sturgis. So we drove over; and, since it's not Bike Week, or whatever they call it, it was pretty dead. Still, drove around, saw some nice shops, checked out some leather goods; and, then stopped at The Knuckle Saloon, which seemed to have the most lively crowd. We went inside, as it was quite hot; and, ordered some of their own brews. Our server did a great job covering which ones were which; and, what to expect from them. I tried their version of a "black and tan" with their porter and a nice ale; one of my friends had just the porter on its own; and, our other friend.... well, I don't remember his order. The beers were fine, reasonably priced. Parking on the street was easy. The crowd was beginning to build as the local rodeo was in town; and, The Knuckle was hosting a mechanical bull contest. We visited this place in August 2018 after the rally had already left town. We liked the atmosphere and it was perfect for a couple touring the country on a motorcycle. The food was good. I had the famous Murtha Burger and would recommend it to anyone!!. My wife had a chicken salad. It was our first meal in Sturgis and it was memorable. This place is a fun place to go to talk and look at lots of cool stuff. If you think it will be speedy service...better think twice. To be fair we were there as part of the Mustang rally but you would think they would have this service thing down with the motorcycle rally finishing two weeks prior. Stopped to see Sturgis and we were hungry. We ordered off of the specials board and got a smoked meat tray for $17 and split it. It was plenty for 2, with 2 piece chicken, 2 big sausage links and 2 large slices of brisket; potato salad and beans. The brisket was slightly fatty but the sausage was great and maybe the tastiest chicken ever had. Overall a great smoke job and the sauce and horseradish were very good compliments. Two stars seems generous to be honest... My house brewed IPA was good though. Holy dive bar of all dive bars. Recommendation from our waitress ( who was super sweet by the way ) were the beef tips. Massive plate of beef chunks and tater tots/fries/mashed potatoes... No one leaves hungry, potentially regretful, but not hungry. My wife got the unbreaded tips which are served with sauteed onions and mushrooms. Good choice, she thought they were overly salted. I got the breaded beef tips, which are served with a side of Pepto. Well, maybe should be... To be fair, this is a huge biker bar in Sturgis. The decor and facility give the impression they can handle a very large crowd. Keep your expectations in check and you'll be fine. read more
