Veggie kolache
Molly L.

I was informed that this place is a very popular bakery that serves Czech pastries. I think the pastries were pretty good but they weren't my favorite. We ordered the bacon, egg and jalapeño; the sausage, egg and jalepeno; the egg and veggie; the cinnamon; and the blueberry kolaches. The baked items were indeed fresh but not necessarily hot - they were more lukewarm. There is a lot more filling than there is bread, and this might also be unexpected since it does look like a bakery. The bread is a bit on the sweeter side while I found the egg pastries to be a little dry and needing more flavor. The sweet pastries were very good though. For 5 pastries, we spent about $20, so the price point is pretty good. However, the service was off. When I came in, the staff member acknowledged that she would be with me in a moment and that she was putting more baked items out. Then, at some point, she was finished and simply walked to the register. From my angle, which was right in front of the case, I could not see that she was at the register. Instead of acknowledging that she was there, someone who was waiting behind me asked if I was going to go. I think that there could have been some communication.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a kolache shop just down the street from where I was staying in American Fork. The shop is small and there is a little bit of seating to stay, but it's mostly to go spot. They have a wide array of Sweet n Savory flavors. I got one of the Texans. It was jalapeño sausage and cheese. It was super tasty high-quality sausage, a lot of jalapeños to be ready for spicy and maybe a little less cheese then he would've hoped for, but I was more than happy. My only feedback is that the dough was slightly dry. Had a very nice flavor to it, and I know a high altitude baking can be tough and finicky sometimes. I would definitely come back. The dude ringing me up was beyond helpful beyond kind, and excluded. The most positive energy. I would come back 1000 times over just because of him honestly. Maybe I got a little unlucky. Employees like that are rare these days, especially in the service industry. Fair pricing quality baked goods.

Really yummy. What a great place for something warm, delicious, and different than your everyday breakfast. Make sure to get there early because they sell out fast and don't always make more batches of certain flavors when it gets later in the day! I'll be back to try to monte cristo! The biscuits and gravy was the yummiest! Great service, too.

The kolaches were so good! Definitely worth checking it out. Service was pleasant and quick. There's a few seats if you'd like to eat in house.

I love kolaches. So yummy. Especially the bacon and egg ones, and the raspberry ones. They have quick and efficient service here as well. This place is a Provo staple for breakfast food!

I love love love Hruska's! every time I come here there is a line all the way out the door. if that doesn't tell you the quality food this place is serving up, I don't know what can! the service is honestly TOP NOTCH and i'm completely obsessed with the cute lady who served us. I wish I could remember her name so I could shout her out. honestly I would give 5 stars but imma be honest - the savory kolaches are SO peppered. like, feels like chewing on straight up peppercorns. it's enough to knock off a star from my rating, sadly

Delicious and warm meal every time. I love starting my morning with Hruskas. Sweet and savory are both good. Cute little shop as well.

Step inside and you will find a beautifully decorated space with an open kitchen greeting you at the entrance and a staff that is genuinely enthusiastic about the food they are serving. Ocotillo specializes in the cuisine of Sonora, Mexico, a region known for bold meat and seafood dishes. They also offer a daily brunch menu that is worth planning your weekend around. We ordered the tres leches pancakes, a triple stack that delivers exactly what the name promises. Bathed in a three milk mixture and topped with fresh berries and whipped cream, moist but not to sweet. The Sonorense combination was equally impressive. Arrachera steak strips, chilaquiles made with poblano chile, a tamal de elote, and two eggs. The arrachera was excellent and the chilaquiles were crispy, which is exactly how they should be and not something every kitchen gets right. The menu is long enough that choosing something different next time will be a genuine challenge. Omelettes, chilaquiles, brioches, and other specialties give you plenty of reasons to return. We are already looking forward to exploring the lunch and dinner menu. Slightly more expensive than a standard breakfast spot, but the generous portions and the quality of the ingredients justify every dollar. Five stars without hesitation.

I loved the chicken sausage and was surprised at the flavor. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and had a great texture. They needed a little more salt in my opinion. Unfortunately, the experience steadily declined from there. After being seated, it took several minutes before anyone came to our table. When our server arrived, she offered coffee, which we accepted, but we were never offered water. I noticed that nearly every other table around us received both coffee and water automatically, so that stood out. When our food arrived, my eggs were significantly overcooked and had to be remade. While mistakes happen and I certainly understand that, it added additional wait time to the meal. Throughout breakfast, service felt very inattentive. We had to request extra napkins, ask for coffee and water refills ourselves, and rarely saw our server check on the table. One thing that really surprised us was that she brought our check while we were still eating. I've dined at many restaurants, including First Watch, and it's unusual to receive the bill halfway through the meal rather than after you're finished. After Bill was placed on the table, we didn't see our server again. The final disappointment came after we had finished eating. We stayed for a few minutes talking, and when we were ready to leave with our leftovers, we waited approximately 20 minutes without seeing our server. I finally had to find another waitress just to get a takeout box. Individually, none of these issues would have been a major concern. However, when you combine them all together, it resulted in a disappointing overall experience from beginning to end. I realize our server may have been new, and I truly don't enjoy criticizing someone who is learning. My intent isn't to get anyone in trouble. Rather, I wanted management to understand why what should have been an enjoyable breakfast with my daughter turned into an experience that left us questioning whether we'll return.

The flavor was okay overall, but the food didn't taste very fresh. My meal arrived quickly, but it was only lukewarm, and the chicken itself was rubbery. Portion size was good, so I'll give them that. Service was good (the employee working was nice, but he appeared to be the only one there). They were also out of the spam musubi, which was disappointing. We went on a Monday night and were the only people there. The vibes of the restaurant were also quite plain and it was only slightly themed which was surprising for a Hawaiian restaurant. Overall, the price felt high for the quality we received and at this time, I wouldn't go back for dinner. I might be willing to give the bakery aspect a second chance..
