Good stuff. I had the Monte Cristo. Pretty much lives up to the hype. Was a good breakfast item for me. I liked the Kolache pastry. This was opposed to the fruit kolache I had The raspberry cream was pretty good but the pastry was doughy to me. Didn't enjoy it as much. Everyone else seemed to enjoy theirs. You definitely want to get there early. This was before the Colonial Heritage Festival started across the street. We got there just before a long formed. Food cart on the NE corner of S Main St and 300 S (Broadway). Reasonable prices. I had the street tacos for $2.50 each of al pastor and one of chicken. Delicious! I was there around 7:00 PM. There was no more ice in his cooler of sodas (bummer). Oh well, the tacos were great. Friendly guy. He's open until 2:00 AM. Short walk, about 5 minutes or less, from the Gallivan Center. Give him a try! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. This place is to die for! I've never had a kolache before, but will be going back for sure! If you're a person in the area, you should stop by. Also, they do have a lot of other locations too throughout Utah and Salt Lake County that I've seen. Service was excellent and I like the little shop :) read more

I had never heard of this place before and it's unique! I tried a savory and a sweet kolache. The savory one I tried was the bacon, egg and cheese. It was good and very filling. It filled me up. The sweet one I tried was the maple pecan and it was so yummy! My 3 year old daughter loved it! read more

I recently posted that they changed owners, but I was wrong. They reached out and very kindly let me know that it is the same owners, same recipes and same family, just a new name. Their kolaches are still a go to for my family and we usually prefer the sweet over the savory. The rotating kolaches have been hit or miss for us, but the staples are our go to. We appreciate them trying new flavors and specials though, and applaud the effort. read more

I had been looking forward to trying this place for a while, and I'm very sad that I did not enjoy my experience. Convenient location but with no seating and the most uncomfortable vibes ever due to everyone looking like they hate working there. The actual kolaches were underwhelming (got one Texas and a BEC), the fillings were nothing to write home about, overall very dry and underwhelming, but what really sealed the deal was their customer service. Not friendly and strangely judgmental, I asked for a water cup and the cashier looked at me like I had two heads and arms for legs. I didn't even get the water. I still might stop by a different location and try the sweet variety, but I'm really disappointed. I had been wanting to come here for months now and finally got a chance to after missing my last opportunity. What a shame. read more

Cute little shop, honestly hasn't changed at all from the previous name/owner whatever caused the change. Received two kolaches as part of the yelp event, both felt stale/hard possibly because I was there later in the morning (11) but still disappointing. The jalapeño sausage was legit and similar to what I'd had in Texas. My partner got a sweet fruity flavor and said it was just way too sweet and rich. Worth a try ‍ read more

I don't think I've ever had a bad experience with a Hruska's. Love how fresh everything tastes and the mix of options between savory and sweet. There's consistently at least a small line and the later you come the more likely certain flavors are already sold out. Would recommend going in early if that matters to you! So good for big parties. Just get a good mix! I'd honestly recommend everything here that just based on if it sounds good or looks good to you. They don't disappoint! read more

I am so happy that there is now a location in Orem! It is so conveniently located on State Street and has its own parking lot. The bakery is very inviting and the service is very friendly. The moment you step inside, you are enveloped in a delicious, fresh-baked warm scent and greeted by the friendly staff. They are happy to answer questions about their kolaches and are able to warm up your kolache by request. The prices are very reasonable and I like to have a savory kolache for breakfast. It's very filling and they have many options that make for a hearty and filling meal. With this new location, I can now visit once every two weeks for breakfast. With so many yummy options available, I will not get sick of it for a very long time. Most recently, I tried the Monte Cristo for the first time and was absolutely blown away by how yummy it is! I live in Orem and have occasionally made the drive to Provo to get one of Hruska's marvelous kolaches. Soft and doughy, they are a true breakfast treat! I always get a savory one and a sweet one. I pulled in this morning at their new location in Orem on State Street and was surprised to see no line like in Provo, but in my 20 minutes there picking up my food and eating it in my car, I saw others pull up, park, shop, and pull out within minutes. My purchase was delicious. I got the sausage, egg, jalapeño, and cheese kolache and two fruit and cream cheese kolaches. I like how the sausage was ground up in it, and the jalapeno's heat was a slow burn, not overwhelming. The strawberry/peach fillings blended well with the cream cheese to complement the doughy encasing of the kolache. The server at the register was professional and friendly. She offered to quickly heat up my savory kolache, and noticing the retired Army hat I was wearing, thanked me for my service. I was in and out quickly with my prize. My only concern was getting out of the place; it's not a quick exit if you're turning left on to State Street out of their parking lot. It would be cool if they had a drive-thru. read more

I usually go to the AF or Provo locations but this one was convenient this morning. The Kolaches were, as always, delicious. The front till however left a lot to be desired. In short, she was rude. While you always have a general idea of what you want going in, if it's sold out then it's out. At which point you have to fall back on option two, sometimes even three. It can take you a moment to confirm which of these are available--apparently the that is an inconvenience to her. Not that I need more than a quick look to confirm it was option two today, less than a moment. There was however a couple were clearly standing right at the register, & not being rude I was willing to wait my turn. I was apparently supposed to magically know that this couple were already done without the employee making a sound. No "do you need a minute" no "I can help you" no "I can help you here". Just a huff when she decided that I was taking too long to approach a space that was already occupied. Now at the other location the Kolaches are automatically put in the microwave & given a little heat to the point that the customers don't really even register it. Her glair made it very clear that she wasn't doing it, so I paid. I personally choose to give cash tips & if I don't have small bills I will pay for the entire order with it so I can get some for the tip jar. She chose not to give me back small bills & honestly her service wasn't worth much so I didn't ask; I did noticed not many others had either as there only seemed to be pennies & nickels in her jar. So I'm fairly sure this is an ongoing her issue. Of course she could have just been ageist, I did have to put on makeup today & that has always made me look a little older. read more

Kolaches were good, although we got one that was labeled incorrectly. Only gave it 3 stars because it smelled soooo strongly of cleaning solution when we came in. Super off-putting. I would highly suggest the business do cleaning after hours. Not sure if we will go back. read more

I have been going to Hruska's Kolaches for a minute. I stopped by the new Orem location and picked up a Monte Cristo. I guess this is a new brunch flavor. And it was by far the best one they have, and it is not close. And their other flavors are great. Now I have to budget a weekly allowance for Monte Cristo Kolaches. read more

Top tier kolaches! Both savory and sweet options keep me coming back wanting to try every flavor. Better to go earlier in the morning so your favorite flavor isn't sold out. My only complaint is that I wish they were open on Sundays!! read more
