I just remember picking up angela from the border and heading north. I was so desperate for help. I called what seemed to be like ten vets who all turned her away despite the sexual abuse she had endured, with a broken leg. Didn't have any rescue help, funds to cover medical and not one vet who would see her for weeks. My phone rang, it was Kris Kelly, she introduced herself and said, we've located a vet in Hollywood, you're in! I found Angela a rescue, and a long term foster to recover with! All of the sudden I knew Angela would and get medical attention and she would be ok. Kris didn't even know me and she worked non stop to pull it together. She saved Angela's life. I cannot express how grateful I am to The Kris Kelly Foundation for helping me save a dog named Vanilla. I had to make the heartbreaking decision to take an abandoned dog that was found on the street to the shelter. I promised that dog that I would get her out and try to find her a home. I called and emailed every dog rescue in Los Angeles, but not one of them stepped up for this sweet dog nor did I even get a reply from most of them EXCEPT for The Kris Kelly Foundation and boy did she step up. If it wasn't for this wonderful foundation, I really don't think this dog would have made it out alive as she was starting to deteriorate in the shelter. We were able to get her out and transport her to a wonderful rescue in New York as we couldn't find any fosters in Los Angeles. This is one of the best animal rescue organizations in Southern California. I found Kris Kelly on Facebook randomly and I had made a small donation to her cause and begin to follow her. After seeing how much hard work and dedication she has two animals and humans trying to help as many as possible with limited resources I knew this was an organization that I wanted to invest in. In my opinion there should be more people like Kris Kelly out in the world helping so many in need whether it be reuniting a lost pet with their owner or getting an animal off of the euthanasia list in an animal shelter, finding fosters and transporters and the list goes on. I donated to this foundation based on a dog that they featured on FB as a dog that they were going to rescue. Turns out that that dog was never in their legal custody, but continued to accept donations. The dog was actually rescued by Westside German Shepherd Rescue. When confronted about this, KKF refused to turn over donations that were specific to this dog. After 2 emails with no response, I reported her to PayPal, after which she refunded my donation.
