However, we've run into the same issue multiple times, and it's become frustrating. Whenever a new group of kittens arrives, it seems that staff members are able to claim or adopt them before customers even have a chance to view them or express interest. We've experienced this on more than one occasion, and it leaves us feeling like customers aren't being given a fair opportunity to adopt some of the animals that come in. I understand that employees may also want to adopt pets, but when customers are actively looking to adopt, it doesn't seem fair for staff to have first access while they're working. In my opinion, this is a policy issue that should be addressed to ensure everyone has an equal chance to adopt. We still like this place and appreciate what they do, but this is something that has significantly impacted our experience.

She sent me to the back-most desk (I believe it's labeled Receiving) to ask for more information. There, I spoke to a young man there who suggested I bring the cat in. He let me know she'd be spayed and released. I spoke to the elderly woman at the front again to ask if there were any options to get this cat spayed and put up for adoption. She acknowledged it was a good question, and advised me to go back to the Receiving desk, have a conversation with them, and see if there were any options. I went back to receiving as the elder suggested, but unfortunately I was met by a rude middle aged women who certainly did not want to have a conversation. She asked if I had a question, I said yes and reiterated the situation with the cat. She then condescendingly asked, "Didn't you just speak to another employee?" I confirmed, and just asked if there were other options besides spaying and releasing the cat (as the elder had advised me to do). She was incredibly condescending! She absolutely spoke down to me, as if I did not understand that cats *can* be free roaming. That's common knowledge - but in this neighborhood we have tons of coyotes. I've see so many stray cats go missing overnight only to find furry coyote poop along the street soon after. Disgusting behavior from a person working where literal animal's lives at stake. These employees, particularly this middle aged woman, need to be kinder. No one comes here trying to be a problem, we're here because we care about animals. It was close to 5 pm at this point, so I'm not sure if she was being rude because she wanted to head out for the day - but even that is no excuse. I hope she can recall her grade school lessons from many, many, many years ago and listen more actively, and speak more kindly.

We said okay and continued looking around. After a bit, I went to the front desk to ask if we could meet one of the cats, Clawdina. A white female staff member with a bun told us she'd be right with us. We waited for quite a while and no one came, so we went back to the cat room and waited some more. At one point, my son and I were standing nearby while she was speaking with another guest. We didn't want to interrupt or seem rude, so we continued waiting, but we were never acknowledged again. Eventually, we just left. It was honestly really disappointing because this was our first time visiting and we were genuinely excited to meet Clawdina and potentially adopt her. We know black cats can have a harder time getting adopted, which made the experience even sadder for us. I completely understand being busy, especially working in customer service myself, but being ignored for that long without any communication felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. A simple acknowledgment or update would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, because of this experience, we don't plan on coming back.

We saw a dog online we wanted to see, so we called ahead to see if we could come see him. They sounded excited on the phone and told us to come on down! We got in the car and drove all the way across town. We get there and not 30 seconds after walking in we are getting a stern lecture about our prong collar on our Malinois, judging us without knowing about a Malinois or her story. The prong collar literally saved her life, it saved her from getting into trouble and is a fantastic training tool when used properly. Maybe don't judge people as they walk in the door. Then...the icing on the cake. The dog we were coming to see, WASNT EVEN THERE. Terrible experience, the gentleman working the front desk should try not being so judgmental of people. I grew up on a farm around working dogs, we know the breed. I feel bad for the dogs here.

He was rude, insensitive to the circumstance, and he did all he could to throw up roadblocks to helping me. He was an expressionless jerk who had zero empathy or professionalism. I contacted the manager about this, and though she three times promised to call me back, she never did. This is heartless behavior for a place that is supposed to be doing good. I will never go back to that place again. The only reason this is not a 1-star review is because my first experience with them was good. That appears to have been an anomaly. We found Wags & Walks and sent in an application for a dog. The next day I received a call from Jade, an adoption coordinator. She asked what my family and I were looking for in a dog and right then I knew this was the rescue I wanted to work with. I didn't feel rushed and I could tell this rescue truly cares about all the dogs and the foster/adoption process. We set a time to visit their facility the following week and met Jade. She was so patient with me and my family while we met a few dogs and made our decision. We took our Lil Bit as a foster for a week to make sure he was the right fit for our family and while he was still taking his medication Wags & Walks was giving him for his cold. The week we were fostering I was in contact with Jade and she answered all my questions in a timely manner. We adopted a week later. Jade offered for us to take Lil Bit back so they could do one more medical check before the adoption was finalized. Jade also sat with me and went through all the adoption forms. During this entire process, I never felt rushed or forced to adopt. I was guided with kindness and patience. Also, Wags & Walks facility is super clean and organized and all the staff we met were so nice and friendly.
