In *part*: 1) We were given a *very dirty* appearing, once white face cloth to use, and 2) the once white shower mat was also *very dirty* appearing, 3) the shower faucet was separated from the shower wall, 4) the bathroom flooring was also separated from the shower/tub with black dirt/mold on the caulking, 5) the shower curtain seams displayed mold! 6) the room window sheers had significant holes in them, 7) the main lamps (the only lights for the room) did not work, which meant that when searching for something in the suitcase we couldn't see it, 8) the dated furniture, bed cover and pillows had a very used appearance and seemed dirty! Overall an experience of health risk and *complete disrespect* for the paying occupants of this landmark hotel.

They had omelets, bacon and french toast on offer at our complimentary breakfast and free coffee and fruit available throughout the day. Also, very importantly for me, this location is dog friendly. They charge and additional $35 per night for dogs, which is not unreasonable and they have a small grassy area outside near the pool where you can take your dog to potty. Bob's Burger and Jack in the Box were literally a minute walk from the hotel which was great for our first night checking in. This eliminated an extra drive to another location which can be difficult with two excited and hungry toddlers in tow. Speaking of food, this hotel provides "free" breakfast with your stay. Selections were good with your normal breakfast selections of hot foods (oatmeal, eggs, sausages, potatoes, sausage gravy) and cold foods (cereal, yogurt, to-go breakfast muffins, bananas and a selection of bagels). This location also had a waffle maker. Weekday hours for breakfast are from 6am to 9am and weekends from 7am to 9am. As for the rooms, they were ok. The room came with a mini fridge and a mini microwave and other normal amenities. I do love that the windows can open. Lovely to get fresh air in and I loved hearing the frogs croaking at night and cars passing from the freeway. Our room also had a good view of the train tracks from the distance so it was exciting for my little boy to see the trains pass by when they came. During our first night, we requested through the Bonvoy app for additional pillows and sheets as the housekeeping line rang but no one was available to respond. The front desk called our room after an hour to confirm our request but did not get the items several hours after our request so just be mindful of that if you really need something from housekeeping.

We had called ahead with a few questions and were told the elevators were temporarily out of service, so we were relieved to be placed on the ground floor. It ended up being perfect for quick dog walks/bathroom breaks, and easy access plus there's a cute little gazebo area for some outdoor relaxing. Though it's a limited-service hotel, it definitely overdelivers with a surprisingly well-equipped fitness center, a large clean indoor pool, and fast, reliable Wi-Fi. So I found this Candlewood Suites Burlington on my hotels.com app and decided to book a night to stay here. This hotel was surprisingly very affordable for a Saturday evening with only being $129 (prior to tax) and offers quite a spacious room with a king size bed. The pet fee was only $20 and we were very happy to have found out that they offer complementary dryer and washer for use (you just have to use your own detergent and dryer sheets). This was very helpful, as we ended up doing a load in the washer and then divided our load into 2 dryers (since no one was using them and it is faster to dry jeans this way from your other clothes). There are 3 washers to use and 4 dryers available. We checked in around 6:15 pm by a friendly employee. She gave us our keys and then we unloaded our car (they have luggage dollies at the front) and headed to our room, which was on the first floor. We had a kitchen and a full size fridge and microwave in our room, a fairly good size bathroom with plenty of counter space (I always dislike when bathrooms have so little counter space), Dove brand bath products, Dove soap bar, TV and desk that I was able to set up my laptop. The WiFi was fast and very happy that it never dropped while I was taking a test to earn a certification in my profession (I only had one attempt and so I was little nervous wondering if I would get dropped but I never did. Oh and I did pass for anyone that is wondering). Although there is no breakfast provided, you do have a kitchen in your room that you can use, which we did. So that wasn't a problem for us. Now one thing I do want to mention is that the walls between rooms are thin, as I heard neighbors around us. Also there is a train that seems to run at all hours of the day and evening, as I heard them throughout the evening. I am a pretty light sleeper so I didn't sleep that well but my husband (who is a heaver sleeper) was just fine. I have stayed at a bed and breakfast in Texas where there was a train nearby and that train was incredibly loud. This train wasn't nearly as loud but do want to mention this for those that may find this to be a problem. Because of the train and the thin walls, I am a bit indifferent and not sure if I would stay here again. But to us, there does seem to be more pros than cons. Overall, I would still rate this hotel 4 stars.

There were also a number of things that really made me question several bits and . in room telephone had a broken receiver held together with a piece of white duct tape. The shower barely worked in terms of the showerhead. There were stains on the that almost somebody had attempted to floss between their legs with it. The small tiling in the little alcove, where the for the lack of a better term bathroom sink was located was very uneven, and actually kind of painful to walk bare feet. Also, the mattresses are very very hard. And if you're like me and you have back issues, they don't always help. There's also the fact that for my short stay, which was only three days the door of the hotel room would actually stick sometimes, and I literally would have to use my knee to open the door. Finally, there's the exterior color. The hotel in general is painted in this almost sickly color. Which almost seems to turn purple in direct sunlight. the staff that I've met times that I've been there were not bad people, and they were just simply doing their jobs. I tell you that visually the location isn't really the greatest. It also doesn't help that right next to them is an old restaurant building that appears to be constantly empty. I think in the times that I've been around here a business will pop up in the location last for a couple of months and then disappear. I don't know the reasoning behind but definitely something wrong with that particular area. all in all if you need a place for you know a one night stay something while there are better options. This one isn't terrible. It's not great but it's four walls in a roof and really that's all you really need especially if you're just gonna be using it as a quick stop over if you are going through a major road trip or something.
