We are military families moving to another station, have to stay in hotels for one and a half week, they said they don't have it available for one of the days, so we can skip that day and come back. But when we come back it's not booked, we had to do it all over again, and the front desk was very impatient and had attitude when I was asking questions. Not recommend, nothing impressive. My stay here was adequate, but I would not stay here again. The front desk was very friendly and helpful, and gave me a room on the top floor on the end. I think it was a quieter option than other rooms. But the air conditioner was so loud, it was crazy! I had to use it, as it was very hot when I was in town, but it woke me up several times. The room wasn't really clean. It smelled musty and the bed was rather lumpy. My son also rented a room with his wife, and the bed collapsed the first night. Their room was also quite dirty. The air traffic from the base was incessant and loud at night, the hotel was right under their flight path. I thought the jets would come through the room! The breakfast was absolutely DEPLORABLE. Reheated items at best. I couldn't begin to eat anything in there. I did not use the pool or hot tub. I would not recommend staying here. read more

Pleasant experience from booking to checkout. After deciding on a hotel on my favorite travel search engine, I decided to call the hotel to see if they would offer similar rates. Expedia gets plenty of my business but I also understand that their cuts into small business can be deep. The hotel picked up the phone right away and suggested that I booked on their website then call back to request 10% off with my AAA discount. It wasn't a function available on their website and I'd need to call them before the charge of the first night. It all worked out great and I actually paid less this way! Check-in was smooth. There were no lines and they patiently explained breakfast and the situation with the hot tub. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Shower had good pressure but the temp fluctuated some during morning showers. Again, the bathroom tiles had amazingly clean grouts for this older motel. We had a pleasant stay. There were plenty of parking. And check-out was a simple drop-off of keys. read more

Great little inn in Oak Harbor. This place is veteran owned. It is nothing fancy, but it has everything you need for a good night sleep. All rooms have a mini fridge and microwave. They have a small pool, which was super clean and a bonus since we stayed while it was hot. They offer breakfast in the morning and have a nice selection. The rooms themselves are outdated but clean. All the staff was friendly and welcoming. The only downside was the air conditioner didn't really produce that much cold air even on high. Prices are reasonable. My family and I stayed here for one night at the end of July. We requested a top floor suite, we got a suite on the bottom....not a huge deal, but I have a feeling they did not read the request. The motel has a great layout, little playground at one end and an outdoor pool at the other end. The rooms, ugh. They are so old, that although it may have been cleaned, it felt dirty. The issues I had with my room was that the bathroom door didn't close, the shower head was weak and most annoying of all, the air conditioning was broken. We were offered a new room (on the top floor), but we were so tired we just asked for a fan. Unfortunately, it took until 10pm to receive the fan. Another thing about this hotel, so each bed is made for 2 people to sleep on, but for some reason each bed only has 3 pillows on it. The motel itself is fine, it's quiet at night, serves it's purpose and...well that's it. Its not worth the price. read more

I just spent two nights at the delightful Coachmen's Inn, Oak Harbor, Washington. Unpretentious, but surprisingly pretty hotel in an excellent location. My room was really spacious with two queen beds, large sofa ,dining table and kitchenette. It even had a private ground floor patio. The staff was exceptionally friendly and the complementary hot breakfast was better than you usually get in this price range of hotels. Altogether a really nice place to stay and a good value. It's the little touches that make a difference. What a pleasant surprise. The dog friendly rooms are clean, roomy, and very comfortable. There was a back door that opens out to a fenced patio area for all the ground floor units. Blankets and pillows are readily accessible. We had a studio size kitchen which gave us the ability to prepare a homemade meal since most restaurants were closed on Sunday. Hot chocolate and tea are in the main lobby. The staff is very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast is very satisfying. We enjoyed our stay here very much. We did not use the pool or spa but both are heated. read more

Stayed here a few days while my friend was visiting from New England. Husband decided to come along so she ended up getting her own room and we ours. Ours was nice, double beds, kitchenette and deep tub. Could not open the back door to the outside and thought it was odd....her room was definitely too small and had a musty odor to it. She only had a shower in hers and her TV was older, we had a flat screen. The pool is 6-10 feet deep, which is a bit unusual for a pool, and the hot tub is extremely small and kids were in it that were under the age of 5. I do not understand how this happens! There is a breakfast included but it is lousy, as is the coffee. Bland and blah! Had to seek a starbucks for real coffee. The people who work there are very nice, they have a selection of DVD's and one of the gals even brought one I wanted down to the room after finding it. Customer service is impeccable. Although this is deemed to be a place with reasonable pricing, I am not convinced this is worth the price as it is mediocre at best. I think it served its purpose, but there could have been better spiffs and less issues with key cards, lightbulbs, batteries in the remote and no tub stopper so one can bathe without losing water consistently. read more

This inn is just okay and I probably would give it a 2.5 if that were possible. My family and I stay here every year when we travel to Whidbey Island to go to the Coupeville Arts & Crafts Festival. We've stayed here every year since I was little. It's certainly not a fantastic hotel by any means, but it does the job. The beds aren't particularly comfortable and the interiors leave something to be desired, but the place is always very clean. I will say that the housekeepers always tend to short-sheet the bedding though... A bonus is the free continental breakfast over the weekend, which consists of all sorts of foods. I was so happy to get a reservation here during the heat wave. Even though Whidbey Island was hot, it was about twenty degrees cooler than where I live in Portland. The Coachman Inn was amazing. When my wife and I arrived we were directed to a queen room near the lobby. It smelled very musty, as if had not been recently cleaned. My wife objected and we were then allocated a King room in a more remote wing of the inn. This room was excellent, except that the TV was a new Roku model that requires good Wi-Fi service for effective operation. The Wi-Fi provided by the Coachman Inn was way too slow and/or overloaded such that the regular news channels, such as CNN, would frequently stop while the set re-buffered the stream. If the only TV provided in the hotel room is going to be a streaming TV then the Wi-Fi needs to be fast enough to provide a consistent signal. Not acceptable. read more

There's a reasonable fee to include your pet in your stay (approx. $10/pet), a basic hot breakfast of scrambled eggs, waffles, sausage links and biscuits and gravy are included, in a clean and comfortable room which has a seating area, microwave, fridge, cable tv, a hair dryer, and a great shower with fantastic water pressure. The bathroom was definitely relatively new with granite countertops and that fantastic shower. The orange juice was delicious at breakfast, however the coffee was ridiculously weak. The people in the room above us were very stompy types, but otherwise my husband and I enjoyed our stay. I'm the type of person who is fussy about hotel room cleanliness. This place was clean! The decor is dated, but it's on the cusp of becoming "retro". The breakfast wasn't great. My kids didn't even like the waffles. Maybe they're using the cheapest waffle mix possible? On the third morning, we opted for egg McMuffins at the McDonalds across the street. In our part of the inn, there was a weird knocking sound all night. At first, we thought there must be construction work going on in a nearby room. The next time your in the area you should consider staying at the Coachmaninn. The front office service is very courteous. Breakfast is not too shabby. They have waffles, yogurt, OJ, oatmeal, cereal and much more. Just remember to call them because 3rd party reservations is not the best. I stayed hear 4 months and never had but 1 complaint and once it was Beaufort to the attention of the general manager Ryan made sure to correct the issue. Awful experience! I booked a room with the agreement that it would be paid for in person upon arrival and I had until February 26th at 6pm PT to cancel without a fee. I needed to re-schedule the trip for one week later so I signed on to do so at 8am on the 26th. THEY HAD ALREADY CHARGED MY CARD EARLY WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION! I canceled the room and was promised a credit in my account by afternoon that same day (as the charge was only pending). NO REFUND, now they want me to wait 5 days?!? No one will answer why my card was charged without authorization and before the time that was agreed upon in writing. I'm still going on my trip next weekend but I WILL NOT BE STAYING HERE! To add to this ridiculousness, because I said that if I do not receive the refund I am tired of the back and forth and lies over the phone so I will come deal with getting thee refund in person, these ridiculous people called the police saying they were "threatened". Even the officer seemed to find the claim quite silly. Maybe these people shouldn't charge cards without authorization and they wouldn't have someone so angry with them. We stayed at the Inn this Saturday. We have family that lives in Oak Harbor, and it's a pretty long drive both ways to make in one day, so for a little Mom's day getaway, we decided to stay the night on the island. I believe, price wise, you cannot find a better hotel for the value on the island than Coachman Inn. Comfortable, clean, home-y rooms with beautiful little tiled kitchenettes and mini-fridge. A WARM lap pool with 2,(count em'!) 2 hot tubs. Very comfortable beds with down comforters(maybe they have renovated recently?), mine felt like it was barely slept in! Not only that, but you get a free continental breakfast in the morning. This was a perfect spot for an overnight getaway. read more

First off I should preface this by sharing that I'm a dedicated Marriott guy. I stay I hotels 3-5 night a week and 99% of them are at a Marriott property. From time to time, there is not a Marriott property where I need to stay and I am forced to venture outside of my comfort zone. With all of that out of the way, I want to share my experience at the Coachman Inn.... When I pulled up, I immediately thought to myself, Coachman? More like Roach-man. Don't let first appearances hold you back from checking it out. Wilma helped me check in. She was friendly, had personality and a sense of humor. I found my way to my room and was scared of what I may find. I was pleasantly surprised. While the interior was certainly dated (it reminded me of my grandmother's house), it was clean and well kept. It had all the items one would expect from a hotel -- mini fridge, microwave, iron, wifi, etc. And after staying the night, here's my final view: While it's not the Ritz, it's certainly not the pits. The rooms are clean, the bed was pretty comfortable and the staff was great. I would happily stay here again while out in Oak Harbor, even though it's not a Marriott hotel. read more

Rented a King suite for my husband and our 11 month old. The Good: Very comfortable soft plush mattress. Dated decor but clean and spacious rooms. Flat screen TVs in bedroom & living room. Nice crib but our kiddo slept between us on the gigantic King bed with plenty of room for all. We arrived for the continental breakfast with 30min left and rather than leave us late comers with just the dredges, they were regularly refilling everything up until we left: pitchers of orange juice, more scrambled eggs etc. The Not So Good: Wish they provided recycling bins. Very spacious suite with full kitchen but had only a mini fridge. Family with kids in room above us ... sound of kids running around til 10pm almost made me call the front desk, but they went to bed when we did so wasn't an issue. But in future I would ask for top floor room if possible. read more
