We stayed here on Thursday evening and I will have to say the manager was one of the rudest people I've ever dealt with at a hotel. We arrived in our big shred truck and the first thing I was asked by the front desk lady was if I had just arrived in the big truck and it was not saying in the parking lot over night right?!! Uhh ya, usually when you drive a vehicle to a hotel you park it in the parking lot. I was then told that usually when people drive larger vehicles they notify them ahead of time and so on. So she goes and gets the manager that proceeds to tell me multiple time people always call ahead (ok no need to keep telling me something that SHOULD have been done a long time ago) how all the rooms and parking spaces are all taken for the night and on and on. My husband then comes around and says that he will move it no problem. She proceeds to talk over him and keeps saying the same thing. At this point I am ready to just go to a different hotel because of how extremely rude they are. Now I have no problem owning up to I should have called ahead however I don't drive an oversize vehicle for my every day car so I didn't realize or even think of this issue. It was a Thursday night in May!! I get if you are just concerned about having enough space for all your guests but there is a way to approach and talk to people. My everyday job is scheduling and sales so I talk to people non stop and being rude is NEVER a way to talk to someone! That being said we left at 6:15am on Friday morning and our truck was taking up 1 and a quarter of another parking spot and in their two small parking lots there was at least 7 or 8 empty spots available!!! The room was nice and clean and the young man that assisted my husband with parking was very nice however my experience with the rude front dest lady and EXTREMELY rude manager will not have me going back! As a retired road warrior with over 3500 nights in a Hilton or Marriott room, I am somewhat of a snob when it comes to staying in an Independent hotel. This was a nice clean quiet and cozy room with a very comfortable king mattress and lots of pillows. In room Keurig coffee maker. Large TV had a lot of viewing options. Friendly staff and ample parking. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. Only negative besides the price of the over $200 room was the limited continental breakfast We found several wonderful dining options downtown. read more

We are on a trip from Sacramento, CA to Vancouver, Canada and this was our stop for the night. The hotel was so charming and inviting. The lobby has a good amount of seating in front of a very long beautiful fire place. The dinning area came in handy so the 11 of us could sit at a table and enjoy our door dash together. The staff even offered us forks and plates. The rooms were spacious and clean and a good amount of amenities were within walking distance. This property is clean and well-tended with attention to detail. Kudos to the housekeeping and maintenance staffs! The lobby is cheerful, the rooms large, and the beds extremely comfortable! My spouse and I would love to get the same mattress for our bedroom at home! It's obvious that care has been taken to ensure each guest enjoys his, her, their experience. The staff at this hotel could write the book on hospitality! General Manager, Kathleen Kelly, is a great role model, and Joey, the Front Office Manager, has put together a welcoming team whose joy in working with each guest is obvious! A wonderful stay!! We stayed in Anacortes to be close to the ferry as we were going to San Juan Islands. Free parking and complimentary continental breakfast (bagels, muffins, fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea, hard boiled eggs, cereal). I was extremely encouraged that they had someone at the front desk at 12 a.m. when I arrived, after waiting 6 hours for my other vacation rental host to arrive. The Marina Inn was a literal life saver! The front desk clerk was extremely friendly and helpful! Huge kudos to her! (Please do something nice for her!) I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the property, and all the amenities they had, breakfast with the room, free WiFi, etc. Room was well maintained, clean and everything seemed to work perfectly. I prefer accommodations that are not stacked to he hilt with every high end fit and finish, with a price tag to match. This was a nicely appointed room, clean, and very friendly service. But the only thing that I didn't like was the TINY bathroom, and a few dated touches in the room. Overall, very very minor stuff. But that wouldn't affect my general experience. I would DEFINITELY come back here, and probably will. Highly recommend! read more

The motel was clean and comfortable. We slept well. The price was fair. There were many breakfast offerings. We'll try not to reserve a "king spa" room next time. The "spa" part was a very deep tub with sliding glass doors overlooking the king-size bed. There is no elevator to the second floor. We just banged our wheeled luggage up the stairs. Stayed one night at the Marina Inn on my way to the San Juan Islands. Pros: Comparably affordable. Free parking. Good AC. Clean rooms. Comfy bed and pillows. Fairly quiet, both in the hallways and outside your windows. Right next to Bob's restaurant (I didn't get the chance to go but it's convenient). Cookies upon check in. Cons: Weird key fobs that are a little tricky to use and they charge $5 if you lose one. Shampoo/conditioner/body wash products weren't my fav. Breakfast is pre-packaged cold goods during COVID, hopefully they can expand that soon. Not in walking distance of the ferry terminal - about 15 mins drive away. Pros certainly outweighs the cons here, both in number and significance. It was a good stay and if the price is right for you, I wouldn't not recommend it. read more

The Inn was nice and clean. We had issues with our reservation that we booked through Expedia. The property manager was rude and was lacking in customer service skills. We paid for our 3 rooms and I called Expedia when I returned home. During the call with the Expedia rep, who was wonderful, he told me they also paid the Inn. So the Inn was double paid and they did not call me telling me that they were paid. I would not recommend this place of business. read more

Great place to stay! Superlatively clean. And the employees? 100% friendly! Even the housekeeping staff in the hallways made us feel welcome! It was like staying with friends. We stayed here primarily because it was close in proximity to our whale watching we had scheduled. We saw the reviews on both Expedia and Yelp and were very impressed...it's not often that you find something with decent reviews across the board. Overall for the price and location we were super happy. The front desk was super nice and check in and check out went smooth. The front desk offered cookies before heading to our room which is always a win in my book :) Breakfast options were a little below average. Bagels, muffins, eggo type waffles, coffee, juice, etc. Overall, if we're ever in the area again, I would definitely consider staying here. It was mostly an older crowd and, as someone who is 33 going on 80, it's something I prefer and appreciate. Nice and quiet. read more

We had a lovely stay here for one night in Anacortes before heading to the San Juan's. It's right on the main strip, at the opposite end from "historic" Anacortes. It's unassuming from the outside, but our deluxe king room was recently remodeled, and it was roomy, clean and comfortable. The shower/tub and toilet were enclosed, and the sink just outside. There was another wet bar sink in the room, which was handy, and a long counter with cupboard space below provided great storage space for a longer stay. There was a microwave, coffee maker and small fridge as well. We found the bed very comfortable, with lots of pillows. The 2-story building is perpendicular to the road, and our room was on the far end from the street, so it was quiet. The windows open, which was a great way to cool the room down without running the A/C. There are fresh, little chocolate chip cookies for the taking in the lobby; you can warm them up in the microwave in your room! Breakfast was a generous continental offering: pastries, bagels, English muffins and waffles toasting; whole pieces of fruit; single servings of cereal, juices, coffee, tea, hot chocolate packets; and the little fridge is stocked with yogurt, cream cheese, butter and hard boiled eggs. There are trays to make it easy to bring your selections back to your room. As others have noted, every staff person is warm and welcoming; no corporate attitude here. We stayed at Marina Inn this last week for one night. It was absolutely a wonderful stay. The rooms were cozy but so was the front entry. There were some added touches that stood out. Fresh cookies in the lobby at 2pm. The one tiny little thing that I really loved was the motion activated night light in the bathroom. I always forget my nightlight! The fact that they thought about that for me really made me feel like they were considering my comfort. They think of everything!!! We really enjoyed our stay there, the staff was very friendly and courteous and the room was clean. The beds are FABULOUS, very comfortable! In the evening, there was freshly baked cookies, up front. The website said it included breakfast and I thought it was a literal full breakfast, but was in fact a "continental" breakfast; I think it would help to clarify, but because our overall experience was so good, that was ok. Nice no nonsense hotel. Requested top floor away from traffic, and that's what I got. Didn't notice a lot of kids staying at the inn, so it was very quiet. There are cameras everywhere in the building....not something I think I'd usually notice, but there were so many you'd think you were in a government building. As soon as I opened the room it smelled musty. Decor and bedding mish mash of 1960-1980s. Pillows are old and lumpy. I never carry cash when traveling and this hotel only accepts coins and cash in vending machine. No cash machine to accommodate guests so I couldn't purchase anything to drink. Front desk wouldn't let me pay the hotel $20 with my debit card in exchange for cash? I asked if UBER operates here and it's deer in headlights. The lady saying "What is that?" I had read another review saying the walls were paper thin but hadn't heard anything myself until right now. The occupant in the room next door just took a shower and it was louder than my rooms TV. So the sound proofing between rooms is horrible as well. Now dropping the review another star. No USB ports in the room or easy access to power outlets. WiFi never was full strength. Marina Inn is quite some distance away from I-5, and it's located in a quiet neighbourhood. I checked in late and the manager was on duty. Check-in was simple and smooth. The on-duty manager offered us cookies in the paper bag. My room was on the ground floor and it was overlooking the parking lot. No view except the cars/trucks in the lot. The parking lot has an overflow lot so it's pretty big for the hotel. The punch-hole key to the room is a bit outdated compare to the newer hotels but it does its job well. The room is clean for an older place. In the room, there is Keurig coffee brewer along with 4 k-cup pods. We didn't have coffee in the room as it was already late in the evening. The beds are a bit soft for some people. The next day my wife had a sore back/neck from sleeping on the soft bed. The next morning we had basic continental breakfast in the room next to the lobby. There is no hot breakfast here except for hot oat meal and hot coffee. There is yogurt and hard boiled eggs in the fridge. Check-out was easy and within a minute we were on our way out. There is only one entrance/exit to Marina Inn. The entrance/exit is a bit steep if you drive a lower car as it might bottom out so you need to drive out or drive in on an angle. My only dislike is the water in the tub wasn't draining fast enough. Maybe they need someone to clear the drain in the tub otherwise water pressure at Marina Inn is great. read more

A nice little inn off the main drag in Anacortes. After a long week, it was great having Pam, the manager, help us out with a great room and a quiet location at a very nice rate. We were even able to check in early. We had a nice, relaxing experience. The rooms were comfy and clean. Loved the bed!! There was a mini-fridge, microwave, and everything you need for a nice quiet experience. There's a continental breakfast and newspapers in the lobby. Check in was quick and easy. The place was clean and had a nice feel. Our room was better than I thought it would be. It was a nice size, updated, very soft towels and the shampoo, conditioner and body soap they provide was top notch. I forgot my toothbrush and front desk gave me one for free. The continental breakfast was average but the sitying room was a good size. No elevator if you are staying on the 2nd floor which was fine with us but may be a problem with the elderly or those with young kids. All the staff were very friendly as well. The staff at the Marina Inn were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself has a few issues that aren't great. The heater is quite noisy when in operation. The cleanliness of the rooms could be improved, especially the sink faucet which wasn't really clean. Black mold was also visible on the water sprinkler. It wasn't a pretty sight. And the coffee at breakfast wasn't really a well brewed coffee. There are probably a few restaurants nearby where you can get a good breakfast. Staying there for a night or two seems fine, but I wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay. read more

Needed to leave our house to give contractor room to work and called on short notice directly to hotel. Very easy to arrange room and payment without dealing with the hassle of booking services and the often poor phone experiences one has traveling these days or on the internet. Too much hype and marketing, too little listening to the customer. On arrival again an excellent greeting and experience. Found the whole building to be stunningly clean with much attention to every detail. Going beyond adequate to thoughtful consideration of what might the traveler need. The staff is also both friendly but also considerate. You get an immediate feeling this is going to be a good, safe, helpful place to stay. We chose to extend an additional day to enjoy Anacortes, the walking environment is excellent and many interesting yachts on the hard two blocks away. The quality of the food, beds, public spaces, and especially the "climate" of active concern and helpfulness of the staff is these days rare. It is a reflection of skilled management and leadership. Whoever is overseeing Best Westerns is WA should see why the one's East and South of Seattle are pretty good and north of Seattle should be avoided, Not as clean, somewhat unsafe and bored, perhaps exhausted staff.
