I've been coming here regularly and usually had good experiences, which is why I was really disappointed this last time. My nails started lifting and chipping after only one week, which has never happened to me before they usually last 4 weeks. When I reached out to have them fixed, I was told I would need to pay again. I understand things can happen, but when nails don't even last a week, I would expect some kind of accommodation or accountability--especially as a returning customer. I went in to get my nails dipped because my regular person couldn't get me in. I had my daughter and her 4 month old with me. We were seated after a few minutes so we had time to pick out our colors. They have every color of dip! The girl that did my nails was amazing. She was very sweet and did a great job. My daughter's tech also did a very nice job with her gel. Her daughter became a little fussy and he had to pause for a bit. The techs were very understanding and tried to help by talking to the baby. Will definitely go back. I have just recently started getting my nails done again, and let's be honest, trying to choose a place in Kansas City is hard. There are literally a TON of salons to choose from. If you are anywhere near the level of picky that I am, then the decision process becomes that much harder. Up until my visit to the Lacquer Room, I have left almost every mani/pedi experience only partially satisfied. It's only ever a minute detail, though, such as my nail shape not being exactly right, or polish too close to the cuticle or on the side of my toe. Little things that I never say anything about and just fix when I get home. Still, the perfect appointment hadn't occurred for me, yet. I'm attending a wedding this weekend in Dallas with my coworker/friend who is in the wedding party, and she had an appointment directly after work to have her nails done, on the recommendation of one of her friends. I had just gotten a gel manicure 10 days prior, and it wasn't holding up the best, so after an intrusive social media investigation, I called to see if I could be squeezed in as well. Unfortunately, there weren't any open appointment slots, however, the lady I spoke with told me I was welcome to come as a walk-in and wait, so I did. I later learned that my gel manicure was done using an incorrect technique at the salon I visited. That was why it wasn't holding up and why it took FOREVER to soak off. I think even longer than soaking off acrylics. My nails ended up being done by Roxanne, who, if you have the pleasure of meeting, is extremely knowledgeable on nail care techniques. She explained a lot of the "why's?" behind common issues that occur with certain types of polishes, applications, and colors. I had never learned so much from an experience in a nail salon before, and it was wonderful. Roxanne is also very young, which blew me away, in the best way possible, of course! She's definitely landed herself a spot on my personal list of women role models. The salon was busy while we were there, and quite a few guests waited at least 45 minutes for services. Roxanne and her team took great care of those who waited, as well as those who were in the midst of having services done by offering up refreshments and warm smiles with meaningful conversations. The receptionist was especially hospitable to everyone, and she really appeared to love working there. Aside from the great atmosphere and hospitality towards the patrons at the Lacquer Room, there was an overwhelming sense of community present among the technicians as well. I'm not sure if it is from having over 10 years experience in the service industry or just a personality characteristic, but I tend to observe the commonly overlooked aspects of any business - most notably, the attitudes and energies of the employees. It's easy to fake a smile or to pretend to be happy, but you can't fake passion, which is what I noticed most during my visit. Everyone who was working at the time of my service radiated passion for what they do, and that is what makes all the difference. I absolutely LOVE how my nails turned out. I never thought I would like the powder dip, because, again, my only other experience left me very dissatisfied with the results. Roxanne, however, superseded my expectations and past experiences. I couldn't be happier, and I will most definitely be back for all of my nail service needs! read more

I attempted to use this place a third time after two less than great visits because it was time to hang with a friend. I'll never go again! The customer service is lacking the service is iffy and even when it's clear a customer is not happy instead of trying to see what they can do, they just stand there looking dumb. This is further agitating when you are clearly annoyed. First time my nails chipped with two days. Second time once in the actual daylight it could be seen where the technician missed strokes. Attempted the third and final try to not only instead to not get serviced at all due to the lack of customer service, but to be further upset by the lack of service given to my friend. Instead of doing what is necessary to ensure that her toes were dry fully in the first place, they used paper towel to separate her wet toes and then blamed her when they messed up. Then upselling gel (which she didn't want) to supposedly fix the problem. Well sure that would help, but you shouldn't have to pay more if you don't want to receive a proper service. Rushing, rushing, rushing to the next customer is no way to earn a person's patronage. I won't ever spend another dollar at this establishment. I would not recommend! read more

I love this place!! I have always been treated so well here. In my opinion T and Roxanne do the best nails. The salon is beautiful and very clean. I love the decor. You can either show them a picture or explain what you want to them and you will definitely leave satisfied. Their manicures and pedicures are high quality! I've never had a bad experience and I've been going here for two years now. I like my nails to look thin and natural & they always do them perfect. They also have a great shade range to choose from when picking a color!They offer you a drink while you're getting your nails done too and even have me a gift around Christmas last year. I have gone to this place on and off for 2 years but my last visit was not the great service I am used too from them. I asked for a manicure and dipping powder with coffin shape. And what I got was dipping powder square shape and no manicure. Don't worry they still charged me for the shape and manicure:( I am extremely disappointed because the lady that was doing them was also not gentle and kept trying to bend my fingers in ways they can't bend. My cuticles, the only part of the manicure she did, look like they went through the garbage disposal. Sadly this place was ruined by that one lady and I will not be going back. One month later and I come back for return mani-pedi. We made appointments like good clients do, and they were stacked. Almost seemed surprised that we showed up. Needless to say the four women who made apts were taken before us, and we were left waiting. 15 minutes later and six pedi chairs full of just stared pedicures and we left. Never again I came to get a mani and pedi with my girlfriend as a spur of the moment idea. We were treated very well, asked if we'd like a soft drink, water, or mimosa as we sat down. All of the staff is super friendly and knowledgable and the atmosphere is very nice and relaxing. The interior is very new and posh, and the manicure chairs were comfortable and very well maintained. I highly recommend this establishment and they take walk ins. They are very fast but not so much that you feel you're being rushed. I plan on coming back to get a set of eyelash extensions and they also offer waxing services. read more

Forewarning: THEY.ARE.BUSY! I came the day before Christmas Eve (around noon) and I was told it would be about an hour wait. So it goes. I got in within 25 minutes and Nancy got to work. This location is great, decor and setup is nice, but first experience was not great. Four of us had appointments for a special occasion. My daughter and I showed up first so they sat us down. My sister and niece were there 5 min later. They started on me and my niece. One hour later they started on my daughter. We even spoke up a few different times but it didn't change anything. I tried this place due to reviews even though it's a 40 min drive. I liked how whoever did ur pedi, did ur nails. I made an appointment both times, but the 2nd time I had to wait for someone to do my nails because they apparently had another appointment! Well I had an appointment too! You would think the nails that you walk in with will be the same type that you walk out with, I just needed a fill. I'm not the type of person to say something, but I told the guy I want to trim it down a little and keep the shape. I am from California. I went to Kansas City for my cousins wedding and my wife wanted to get her nails done. I found this place on yelp, and we chose to go here because of the detail of the nails in the pictures. We are from Orange County California, and there a lots of nail places here but none like this one. Roxanne is the best! We were treated very well, the designs they have available are beautiful. The establishment was very modern, posh, felt like Vegas. Very clean, wife loved every bit of it. They were able to squeeze her in on such late notice. Everyone was very friendly. Not impressed. I was told a 20 min wait, ended up waiting an hour. I understand I didn't have an appointment but still bad service in my opinion. I got dip powder. All my nails look a different shape. Anytime I asked for one fixed it honestly came out worse so I stopped asking. They are not equal lengths.
