I absolutely loved this place! I got white to pink ombré dip. They did so well! Instead of doing both white and pink dip. They used a spray machine for the white! Looks so good! Best nails and no more expensive that any other place, in fact less expensive than many. Price aside, they do a consistently excellent job. One of my favorite things about Solar nails is that they are upbeat and happy, I am always welcomed with a cheery smile, they always do the best work and the price is right. What else do you want? First off, they are a larger salon with a friendly staff. I swung in on NYE to get a mani/pedi (for no occasion since I wasn't going out) and it was relaxing and I left feeling pretty. I am a huge fan of gel manicures and they have a fantastic assortment of colors. Their normal colors are also abundant for my pedicures. I always leave feeling relaxed and they are affordable. The tools are clean and there hasn't been a time that I've come in and not seen someone clean up their workstation after they're done with a client. I highly recommend Solar Nails. Even at the busiest point, I've never had to wait more than 20 mins. Give it a shot. read more

Went in and got a basic pedicure. Unfortunately my nails are not evenly cut or shaped as I asked. The polish is very streaky. There was polish on my skin around the nails. I waited to see if the tech would clean them up but he did not. Right before leaving I asked him to clean them up. He cleaned them up but missed the toe with the most polish on my skin. I wouldn't recommend getting your nails done here. read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars because I got everything I asked for with fast friendly service! The guy there said he was helping out w/ his brothers shop(who was out of town)...& I was sooo happy to find him today...he was my nail savior! I'm from Colorado, I usually have my own nail lady there who does all kinds of crazy designs for me. But all my Rhine stones were popping off & my nails looked AWFUL! When I'm down here I usually go to Eva nail & spa...to see her daughter (she usually hooks me up & is friendly!) But today she was not in, and I was basically treated like crap by Eva. I just needed my nails freshened up....as I like how my nail lady did them & they were not due to be removed. But Eva refused AFTER making me wait for 15min she tells me she will ONLY do a full set....WATDAH??? So after driving to a couple shops who wanted an hour wait....I was relieved to find Solar Nails! I was tired, stressed out, and just wanted my nails fixed! The shop was immaculate, big & very nicely set up. I felt completely relaxed & comfortable & in no time my nails got the makeover they so needed! Thanks Solar Nails! The next time I'm in town I KNOW where I am going! She is really easy to talk to and meticulous especially when it comes to doing a french gel manicure. I always call ahead to request Kim as she gets booked up quickly. The salon was clean and nice looking and the prices were great but the technicians were a little stand-off. They spent most of the time I was there talking and giggling in a different language and ignored me and the other lady that was there. My nails turned out just fine, except the technician was a little aggressive and cut my cuticles all up, causing 3 of them to bleed. Basically, the salon was okay. Let me start by saying I called several nail salons at 6PM one night trying to see if they would squeeze me in...not ideal but I had to do what I had to do. I called and they said I could come. I waited for about 10 minutes while Kim finished up her last client. They have a vast color selection whether you want regular polish, gel polish, or dip powder. I only get dip powder on my nails because I love the way it helps them grow long and strong. They have so many color options in dip and they have mood change dip which is very rare. Kim did a great job shaping my nails. I like them extra square. She meticulously filed each one perfectly. She was done in about 40 minutes. They were about to close but she did not rush the job. She did not act like I was a pain because I came so late...also very rare. She was kind and talked to me during the service. The dip powder was $40 and they charge $5 for the take off. I enjoyed my time and plan to visit again but next time I'll make an appointment. read more

Ann was my tech & although she was very nice, she was just going through the motions, which I would've been more ok with if I had gotten the lowest level pedi. - I waited for 30 minutes with my feet soaking. The girl next to me, despite her technician beginning before mine & her getting the standard (I bought the 2nd level) she was done after me. - She didn't exfoliate (looks like the pedicure is weeks old with visible dry skin & my feet don't get that dry). - I paid for the 2nd level because of a product that is supposed to better exfoliate & barely any of that product was used on 1 foot. - The "massage" was more of a skin grazing, no pressure at all. - There was visibly polish on my skin all along 1 side of my big toe & I had to remove it before it dried. In her defense, she did try to remedy it when they realized I was writing a review but all in all it was just as if she paid no attention to what she was doing & just went through the motions. I know it's not an easy job but when I have to exfoliate the day I get a pedicure, it's hard to feel satisfied. I wish she had just sent me home with some of the product I upgraded for, which would've been more effective. They do have great massage chairs, probably the best of any salon but it looks like my search for my go to pedicure spot continues. read more

Popped in here because it was raining and got seated quickly for a pedicure. The chair massage was nice and the nail tech friendly. I got the Hot Stone massage as I thought it would be a longer massage but I finished at the same time as the lady next to me who got the Spa Deluxe. I would definitely save the $10 and just do the Spa Deluxe next time, the massage looked way better as the stones weren't hot. She also only used a sponge on my foot and no exfoliating was done which was the main reason I got the pedicure. read more

She was amazing! From the pedicure itself to the massage that came with it; she was awesome!!! Unfortunately the polish lasted too long-lol-and I was only able to return once before I left town! Asked for Ng and she did another fabulous job! Very clean and lots of employees so there is not usually a long wait at all if you don't have an appointment. Let me start by saying I picked this salon because my regular one couldn't fit me in. One thing that's great about this salon is they will almost ALWAYS fit you in. Super convenient. Anyways, I felt they did a fabulous job! Loved my nails, was $3 more than my other place but I think they did flawless so I didn't mind. I got acrylics with gel color.. Got them done on a Sunday, and one broke while I was at work Tuesday. I have a desk job... was super confused and I didn't even feel it when it snapped off which also struck me as odd. Went on vacation to Costa Rica and TWO nails broke. One while I was literally scratching my ear. Part of me thought maybe salt water or heat did it? But I've had acrylics for a long time and have been in similar conditions and that's never happened. Back at work in KC and another one broke!! While I was typing, wtf?! Gorgeous nails but from my last salon I was harder on them, had them for 5 weeks and no breakage. Had these for barely a week and broke 4 for no reason. Again, best nails I've ever had but I can't spend $36 every week to get them fixed. Will not go back. read more

This place is fiiiine, I mean not great but they get the job done. As far as the estheticians, it's hit or miss - I've great experiences and I've had not so great ones. Last week was an okay one - nails look good. I guess I could avoid this by making an appointment with a specific person, but of course I need plan that far in advance and roll the dice every time I walk in. I've been here a number of times and generally walk away pleased with my service. It's a large, clean, and well-staffed salon. They offer a variety of nail services as well as waxing and massage. My finger nail polish, whether gel or traditional, typically lasts longer than other salons. The pedicure service is thorough and relaxing with massage chairs. The technicians make sure to really smooth all rough callouses (and some of us need more smoothing than others). The technicians are friendly, but respect the fact that you may not want to chat. If asked, they'll create fun designs in your polish for a small upcharge. Overall, I recommend checking out this conveniently located, midtown salon to treat your tootsies. read more

I am SOOOOOO disappointed! I went here yrs ago and it was great but I just paid $47 for a back fill with pink power and red gel color (i use pink because i switch between color nails and pink n whites) my normal salon (star nails) in Gladstone only charges me $35 for full pink and white fill or $30 for just back fill with gel and they are always FABULOUS like everyone has always complemented me on them and ask who does them. I don't mind the $47 but it looks like a $14 hack job red polish EVERYWHERE, not filled in correctly (flush with the cuticle) and no oil or lotion offered for my cuticles plus the top coat is very dull? Iv never seen anyone use the brand he did but it must be cheap! I am VERY disappointed and I am going to have to spend more $$ to get it redone. I have always worn acrylic nails (+15yrs) so I know quality (or lack of) when I see it. read more

Their prices are low and they always call me by name. Very sloppy work done on my nails (acrylic with gel polish). Bubbles all over my nails in the polish, lumps all over the nail bed (a few of my nails look deformed), polish not reaching all sides of the nail, painful process (I get my nails done regularly and have only had 1 other person in my history of getting my nails done, make the process so rough and comfortable), she continued to try to upsell and convince me to get gel polish on my toes too after I told her no thank you a few times. Additionally, there's no point in making an appointment because my boyfriend and I still waited about 30 minutes before anyone started on us. You might as well call in advance and just ask what their wait is. Needless to say.. I won't be back and wouldn't recommend the place to anyone if you could end up getting her (wish I knew her name ). read more

I haven't had an issue with my pink and white solar nails here but their pedicures are by far the most inconsistent I have ever experienced. My boyfriend and have been here about six times and walked away happy maybe twice. The first disappointment was polish that dried in to something resembling sandpaper. Today his pedicure lasted maybe ten minutes with a brief lackluster massage. Mine involved the guy shoving his long hard sharp thumbnails into my tender arches. We will not be spending another dime on pedicures here. It's too bad because we get pedicures often and this place is close to home. read more
