The food here was pretty solid. Everything we had was yummy and the portion sizes I would say are pretty spot on for a dinner size. Nothing overly extraordinary but for sure a strong local favorite here. I ordered the salmon special, and it was really good. The menu here also had a lot of good options to choose from, so definitely a great place to get a meal while you're in the area. We came in on a Friday night, and I am not sure if it was a particularly busy day, but our service was pretty slow. The woman who I assume is the owner filled in the gaps when our waitress was slow though. Maybe just our waitress. Our food also took awhile to get to us, but when it did finally come out it was pretty good. It's a great spot to come in for dinner if you are visiting the area. We hadn't been to the Lakehouse Grille in many years, and couldn't remember exactly why not, so decided to give it a try. We arrived at 6:30pm, and were seated almost immediately. The dining room was full, so we opted for the patio. They were missing two chairs from the table of 4 and couldn't locate more, so they seated us in the bar. The bar was dark, noisy, and had a dank mildewy smell. We placed our orders, and after about 15 minutes someone turned up the jukebox music, and it got LOUD. We had to shout to converse. Around 7:45pm, our food finally arrived. As to the food: The complimentary bread was GREAT! The minestrone was pretty good. The walleye was prepared elsewhere, in the judgement of the eater of the walleye. The ribs were overly peppered. The fried chicken was fine (the menu warns that fried chicken takes 14 minutes {an oddly specific number} to prepare, not an hour). The mashed potatoes were pasty and bland, served without gravy. Not even salt and butter could make them worth shoveling into my mouth. The rice pilaf was okay, pretty similar to Uncle Ben's instant. The baked potato was too hard to eat. The fries were so-so. The cobb salad wasn't worth ordering again. I wouldn't go back for that food, even on a slow day when we can eat in the dining room or on the patio and the kitchen is faster. And I think we will remember why, for many more years. But hey: if you want to go drink beer and watch minor league baseball and indoor field hockey and go home with a headache, the Lakehouse is your spot! read more

Nice spot right on Culver Lake and convenient to go to while I was here the weekend of Lakefest! The bar actually gets pretty crowded and turns into pretty standing room at some point, but service is good. We came here for drinks twice, and then for dinner one night and they have some great options on the menu. Salads, sandwiches, burgers, pastas, seafood - something for everyone! I got the French Onion Cheeseburger as it sounded like nothing I've ever had before! It wasn't quite as good as I expected, but I still enjoyed my meal overall. Fantastic restaurant overlooking Lake Maxinkuckee in the heart of Culver! I was in town with my son and several of his recent college grad buddies for a weekend at the lake. Lakehouse was an easy walk from the Culver Cove condos and was well worth it. Everyone was impressed Lakehouse's setting and even more impressed with the food. My youngest (6) was tagging along and loved that there was a sushi menu. He devoured his spicy California roll. My oldest had the southern filet wrap and said it was "amazing." I went with the veggie burger. Another in our party really enjoyed the ahi tuna hoagie and was able to customize it to a gluten-free bun. For starters, we shared the buffalo cauliflower bites and crab cake bites. Both were really good. We sat inside the restaurant, but both the indoor bar side and outdoor patio looked really nice as well. Our party of 7 walked in early (around 6) on a Saturday and got seated no problem. It did pick up after that so reservations are recommended for busier hours. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Culver at the lake or visiting the academy! read more

I went here with my friend group totaling 7 people and we had a great time! We scheduled a reservation just 30 minutes prior (because of confusion from timezone differences), and they held the table for us for the hour difference. It's a shame this place had so little traffic on a Saturday night because on top of the wonderful care for the last minute reservation, the waiter was wonderfully friendly! She talked to us as if we were usuals though we were first timers. And to top it all off, the food was incredible! Two of us got the mushroom ravioli and the rest varied from pasta to ribs to fish and chips and we all loved it! The atmospheres fine, not exactly my favorite thing, but it fits well for the concept of the restaurant being that it's by the lake. The only issue we ran into was a lack of some meals but that seems to be an issue with the time we arrived not so much the service or anything like that. We were in the area and stopped in on a Friday afternoon (off season). We were greeted right away and seated wherever we wanted. Friendly server took our drink orders and gave us a few minutes to decide on the menu. The three of us all had burgers. Have to say it's been a LONG time since I've had such a great burger! Two of us had the Lake Burger and the other had the Over Easy Burger with an egg. Juicy and delicious! You can tell they're not frozen patties. The burgers came with fries and they were good too. Growing up, the Lake House was always a staple for special events but lately it's been extremely hit or miss. We made reservations for a Friday, when we quickly realized they likely weren't needed as half the restaurant wasn't full. We got seated inside by the hostess stand. Our waitress came and ordered our drinks but it took over 20 minutes to get our 2 beers and a glass of wine. Then it took another 40 minutes for our food to delivery. Not only that, but our waitress never checked back up on us to see if we needed anything or to refill our waters. While we were there, we had friends arrive after us and they waited over 20 minutes before their waiter arrived. They were so fed up they ended up leaving. Stoped here at a week night evening. It was a disappointing experience. The host was on the phone for 5 minutes when we walked in and did not seem apologetic at all. I order the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. It was bland and had unseasoned chicken. My dinner companion ordered the chicken caprise sandwich which arrived with a soggy bun, stale mozzarella cheese, unseasoned chicken, and way too much lettuce. It was a disappointing experience after waiting more than 30 minutes for our food. The only good item we ordered was the loaded fries. Loved this!! Charming restaurant looking out into Lake Maxinkuckee. The lakeside theming inside was perfect! Outdoor garden seating looked so nice and would be fun once it gets warmer. Service could not have been better. We ordered the seafood bisque, wedge salad and rueben with fries. We were impressed with it all actually. The bisque was a nice sized bowl and flavorful. The wedge was huge. Excellent salad to share. Bacon was crispy and plenty of tomatoes and blue cheese dressing. Highly recommend. The show stopper however was the rueben. My Dad lives in Culver. I visit him once a year and we always eat here. Food, service and atmosphere are always good. It's the one restaurant that has survived while others have closed down. I usually just have a burger and fries but tonight I had their chicken alfredo, a large portion of pasta that screamed for a side dish of a vegetable. (It comes with bread and goes for $12). My dad had his chicken and rice. We went here for New Year's Eve and had a reservation. Normally this place is closed on Mondays. We came early and there were plenty of tables, but the place was crowded and loud by the time we left. Even Mark the owner was hustling tonight. It is the only place in town with a bar, and they have plenty of good beers on tap! The pizza joint next to it was empty. This is the place where the locals hang out. As others have noted, this is a nice location near the lake. It is usually packed in the summers. Food is good but prices are on the high side and even my dad said he's going to stop coming here so often because the place has gotten expensive. read more

Lakehouse has a nice patio that's really great on Fri and Sat nights. As a restaurant, for me, it's a fail. You can stand waiting to be seated and no one will even approach you for 15 mins (even 5 staff members who see you). The food itself is pretty good, but it takes SO long to get to you it's CRAZY. From order to table 30-35 mins. Last Thurs afternoon we watched the guy on grill flip some food up off the grill and into his mouth.... while we were waiting forever for our food. This was a mess of a night but I appreciate the effort of our server and the manager to make things right. I called in the morning to make a reservation for seven people at 7:00pm. We arrived on time and were seated right away at a large table in the dining room. Our server greeted us right away and took our beverage orders. We ordered an appetizer and entrees. And then things went downhill a bit. Salads were brought out right away for those who ordered them, but the wait for the rest of our food was excessively long. Our server let us know that our order had been placed right after a large party's order and the kitchen was contending with that. We asked about bread and were told that there was some in the oven. And then we continued to wait. It took over an hour to get our food after ordering. When our food finally did arrive, several things were cold including an order of French fries and salmon. My crab cakes weren't cold but they certainly had been sitting for some time, as the vegetable side dish was noticeably hotter. The server and manager were both apologetic. They replaced the French fries right away. They also took the salmon and put it back on the grill to warm it (I would probably have just started over as not to overcook the salmon). They comped part of the bill and sent us home with a free dessert, both gestures that were appreciated. We came for a late lunch during Reunion Weekend and it wasn't busy at all. It took a while for a hostess to seat us (we almost left) but glad we stuck it out. Once we sat down, our server was very attentive and checked in with us frequently. The decor was local and loved the large sailboat on the ceiling. Pretty good beer selection as well. I got the caprese chicken sandwich and really liked it (recommend!) and my husband got a burger (which he also really liked). Would definitely go back the next time we're in Culver. read more

We visited Culver to watch a Lacrosse game at Culver. We planned our visit to include local place for pregame. 5 stars is seldom given, but his one is solid earned rating. We opted for burgers... The burger is loose patty and juicy. Well prepared and served hot. My burger choice was The Boss. It was monster. From bottom up Burger, Cheese, Corned Beef, Slaw and then topped with an egg. The bun toasted and branded. This combination was impressive, but I underestimated this creation, because the corned beef is NOT some shavings from a precooked lunch meat reheated, it was a chunk of roasted meat 1/2" thick and juicy. Eating this beast, was challenge. Around the table was a well prepared French Onion. Another great plate was the house reuben. It too benefitted from the roasted corned beef, but was about 2" of meat. Sides included house chips, fries made the old fashioned way... Blistered. And sweet potato crinkle fries. We really enjoyed our visit and food. Great food! Another popular item was shrimp cocktail salad. Looked good... We will have to drive two hours again! read more

Food was ok. I was turned off by the very first thing I saw, was a mask pushed into my face. The place was fairly empty to boot! I literally walked 5ft, sat down; and took the mask, that was shoved into my face, off. No "hello," no smile, just a box of masks. Super unfriendly, and mediocre food. The tip reflected my experience. Maybe if the staff worried more about the food and experience more than a mask, to walk 5 feet, I would continue to patron this place. I have been here a few times each summer I have visited and unfortunately, while the service has been superb, the food has yet to impress. During my last visit, we had a wonderful server, a young man with a great personality - who was ready to ask the kitchen with any questions we had, they also removed our favorite dish (THE NACHOS!) - my salad was extremely subpar, so bland and lacking dressing and protein. While I loved the service, and my fiance's ravioli, my food was severely lacking. I sure hope they get it together because the location is phenomenal and the grille has been amazing in the past from what I hear! read more
