Saw the Lalas in Detroit in a ballroom full of chairs. The chairs were the small metal kind with minimal padding and lined up touching each other so you were touching your fellow audience members. Not huge deal but not what was expected. The stage was raised 2-3 feet so unless you are in the first few rows, you end up watching the show in the large screens on both sides of the stage. Unfortunately, it got worse from there. The show was Disappointing, and not real burlesque. This is simply a non-nude strip show. Real burlesque is about subduction and teasing an audience, not ruff gyrations in fancy costume, with an expensive light show, a fog machine and blaring music. Although the show had about 10 different scenes, none were original or creative. All were a cliché, the Carman Miranda with the fruit skull cap, dominatrix in black shiny vinyl outfit, sexy secretary with black rim glasses, sequence belly dancer outfit with vails that get pulled down and that turns into cowgirls with a western song playin, down to the bride with Billy Idols white wedding playing. The music is to loud, to the point the speakers distort the sound. The songs chosen are the same used in every strip show and topless bar TV show and movie scene depicting stripping. The sad part is this show had the potential to be good given the production value and obvious costs spent on costume and lights alone. The best description I can give is, this is what a 14 year old boy thinks burlesque is. It's not, it's ladys gyrating and waving their asses in the air. No sudction, no teasing, just scantly clad lady, who are not really sexy. The dancer who acts as an MC asking the audience to yell louder for her fellow dancers. If you want to see a strip show without going to a strip club, then this shows is for you. If you want Burlesque, save your money and wait and see Dita von Tease or someone similar. I have seen many Burlesque shows, from the Dirty Show performances to The Empire Strips Back, to local theater production style shows put on is unused factory's to local theaters. All were better then this, even if they did not have expensive costumes and light show. If you want a strip show go to your local strip club. If you want burlesque, this show is not, skip it. read more

My friends and i were at the federal and came upstairs and this show was almost over and the hostess made us pay full price for 15 minutes left of the show. Shady af. I went to see the lalas for my birthday on September 22, and I'm so glad that I did. The show was amazing!! The girls were sexy, funny, and full of energy. Here's a breakdown on why they got 5 stars from me: Communication: I contacted Erin (owner) a few times before purchasing tickets. She was very helpful in answering all of my questions. She responded promptly to emails, as well as answers the phone herself if you do happen to call. Parking: located right behind the federal bar and was only $5 Pricing: My group paid $35 each for seating at tables 1-9, which was well worth it. They have tickets as low as $10 for standing room. There is no such thing as a bad seat (or bad place to stand). Venue: As I mentioned there is not a bad seat in the house at this intimate venue. No matter where u sit or stand u will be able to enjoy the show. You will be seated closely with other parties, so don't be shy just say hello. Show: The dancers definitely nailed the art of the tease. The ladies are sexy. The choreography and music was more than just entertaining it was an experience. I was lucky enough to have "cocaine" (not real) blown all over my table, and took a shot (real) with a sexy nun. The girls definitely work the room and keep you wanting more. After the show we were allowed to stay at the club for the dj set without being charged a cover. This is a must see show. They have a Halloween show coming up and I plan on being there!! Tips: Arrive early especially if u plan on ordering food and drinks. That way the waitresses don't block the stage bringing out food and drinks during the show. Cheer the girls on when they're performing. Let them know you like what you see and they'll give you more. Be open and ready to have a good time, and enjoy the ride!! read more

A wonderful night of great music perfectly sketched act and tastefully showcased bombshells! Don't miss this show! Seen at The Federal in NOHO. These great performers make sure you have a great time! They work their butt off in every act "literally"! They go down and perform up close with the guests and if your lucky you might get a little burlesque attention at your seat! Their choice of music is perfect. They sure know how to rock their pants off! You'll find yourself hyped and wanting more at the end of the show. Photography is allowed just no flash. So if you like to shoot definitely bring your gear!!!! Seating is table seating with the smallest tables seating 4 so if you can get a group going it'll be best. If not the crown the draw is always a fun one and by the end of the night you're sure to have made friends with your table neighbors. Parking is valet and low cost. Yes, I am a fan of the arts, yes I have seen Dita on stage, and yes I would ONLY pay to go back and watch the Lalas perform over and over again! These girls are HOT, creative, sexy, talented, FLEXIBLE, SEDUCTIVE, funny, clever, professional dancers. I finally got to watch them perform and I was so impressed with their performance. Sorry to ruin your 5 STAR rating, Lalas, but this was the most VIRGIN Burlesque show we've ever seen! We've been to a few burlesque shows and were looking forward to seeing this highly rated group from Los Angeles at the Desert Diamond Casino on Halloween night in Tucson, Arizona. The Monsoon Lounge will be a separate ONE STAR review. There were five girls. The MC was boring and had very little naughtiness in her style, if any. About three of the girls were very good dancers. One girl which was mentioned by the MC as her first time performing that night was so inexperienced. Boy, did it show! First of all, she looked all of 21 years old. Soooo young and inexperienced, kept looking at the other girls for her next step. So amateur. The acts were kind of corny. The most voluptuous girl came out in a wet suit with a kiddy life preserver on, water goggles and fins! I mean really - how in the heck do you call that SEXY? She bared down to a one piece swimsuit to imitate Baywatch. Woop-dee-do! There was absolutely NO STRIPPING in this show. Isn't that what burlesque is all about? Classy stripping? What a disappointment. All they did was dance in costumes, never stripped, never. Then they bring up 3 members of the audience and spent 15 minutes ridiculing them in some stupid act. So here we are paying $35 each to watch the audience perform! About 50 minutes into the show, the MC tried to get the audience excited with "if you think that was great, there's more excitement ahead." GUESS WHAT FOLKS, the show was over in ten minutes - TOTALLY ONE HOUR!!!! Yea, nothing like trying to get excited and then getting a buzz kill in one hour. Go home, La, La, to Los Angeles! read more

A burlesque show is sort of like pizza. You really can't have bad pizza. It's still pizza. But now that I think about it, I'm not sure why I made an analogy about girls in revealing outfits and pizza in the same sentence. It's a little odd, really. I have no idea. Clearly I've been yelping for too long and the foodie aspect is effecting my brain. Back on track though, they can most often be seen at the Federal Bar and again, their performance is pretty classy and yet sensual all in a nice package. There's just something classy about burlesque shoes. You feel a bit dirty, but you're not trying to wash the glitter off your arm in the men's bathroom of a gas station like you do after visiting a strip club. In a sense, you're only dirty enough to go to confession and not get a lawyer, if you will. So yeah, enjoy them all you want. It's the good kind of striptease! One with a lot more talent and some proper dance experience under their belts. Though there's not much else in the way of clothing under there. read more

I was visiting some family and friends in Tucson for Halloween - they took me along to see The Lalas at Desert Diamond. I LOVED the show! It was sexy, hilarious, and they were in the audience a lot. Felt like I was part of the show. The music was awesome, and the acts were all around very entertaining! Especially the Ghost bit.... Loved that it was a Halloween theme, and not just some cookie cutter show. What made it different (I think - as I've never seen a burlesque show before) was that the girls were hilarious and the show was super comedic - very approachable, not just "blue steel sexy" and that's it. Would recommend to everyone to go check it out! I also bought one of their bras, they have their own bra line! read more

I want to add to my previous review to say that the Lalas are, once again, fantastic. I have now been to at least 5 lalas shows and often see past fans! I went to 2 recent halloween shows (in LA and Tucson) and, unfortunately, the arizona casino changed some rules on the LaLas last minute and they couldn't perform their actual routine, which was outstanding and full of sex appeal etc. It's a shame that fans couldn't see what the lalas really do just because of casino management. Not fair. Honestly. The lalas had to cut their show practically in half to please management. Of course the lalas were still good, but they couldn't do their show the way they do their show and it just makes me shake my head at az casinos. Apparently this same casino pulled the same stunt on the male entertainers scheduled to arrive the week after. Shame shame to this az joint. :) read more
